I always use quality Bohning wraps and wipe them down with rubbing alcohol after applied to clean them and have never had a problem with them. Another good thing about wraps is when you need to refletch you can easily heat them up with a hair dryer and peel the wrap off then wipe the arrow shaft with rubbing alcohol to remove any adhesive. No more scrapping the carbon shaft with a knife and slowly scrapping off particles of carbon. Wraps are just better for your arrows IMO. Great video....Thanks for sharing.
I've never personally wrapped. When you were talking about adding to the overall weight my mind went straight to, "what about FOC?" Good to see you addressed it. While I imagine a wrap's weight may be all but negligible sometimes that FOC percentage is just as important as overall weight. Good stuff.
Same here, I use long 6" wraps and 4 fletches. To counterbalance it I use a 20gr weight that screws in behind the insert. I'm excited for this upcoming Moose hunt this season. Follow me on Facebook Alaskan Hunters Of The North
Great video bro , also being a Pennsylvania boy I think it's a good idea . arrows are expensive if I can add color and brighten them up , there's less chance of loosing my arrows .
First year I’ve added wraps. I wanted a bright look to my arrow and the white did the trick. “Life is too short to shoot ugly arrows”. Forgot who said it, but I agree.
Great point about FOC. The pro is if your foc is too high and you are target shooting you can bring it back to 8-10% this way. So the added weight on the back end can be both con and pro.
just started using them last year.... wonder why it took me so long to get "smartened up" will never go without them...
Great video, totally answered my question today!
Can you wrap the front of the arrow? To add weight
My early built arrows from many years ago uses wrap. But it makes me super paranoid when checking for safety each time the arrow had a bad side impact. The wrap is actually annoying because its difficult to get a visual confirmation on the damage underneath it. It really blows my confidence even though I repeatedly flex and twist it for fear it will blow up when I use it.
Good point. I didn’t thought of that.
What if I want to wrap my arrow more like in the middle or the front instead of the back like normally it’s use?... just think that could add a nice touch even if my arrows are already fletched.
Go for it! Nothing wrong with adding a little flair!
Great video. You earned a like. However, the amount of weight added is dismal if you are using the same size fletching.
I like a white wrap for hunting... Arrow goes through deer and you get blood on the white wrap. I use white vanes for the same reason. I mark the cock vane with a marker. I use a black "X" but you could use any color and make a dot or an X.
Very cool, thanks
What's the reason behind not wrapping your indoor arrows?
Just wondering can I use something like reflector tape?and what about vinyl wrap that go on vehicles 😊
AmazonShroom Yes to both! I used to use just a small (1") of reflective wrap between my fletchings and nock and it worked super well to help find arrows after dark when hit with a light.
Lancaster Archery Supply sells a reflective arrow wrap...works extremely well...
I shoot indoor barebow archery. And was thinking to apply wraps to my arrows. Not so much so i can place my vanes on them but instead to apply them after the vanes for aesthetics. Is that ok or is it that wraps are only made for the sake of putting on the vanes.
Nope! Can definitely use them for aesthetic purposes only!
@@averagejackarchery Thank you...
The main reason I use them is to get my FOC exactly where I want it. Using 125g broadheads without the wrap would have my FOC screwed up pretty bad.
No it shouldn't, if you're using the proper spine, and the right gr insert.
Can I add wraps with out taking off vanes?
Nope. Virtually impossible.
Awesome video! Do you wrap aluminum arrows?
You can! Just make sure they're wide enough if you shoot fat aluminum shafts.
@@averagejackarchery awesome thank you for the response. I'm going to re fletch the factory vanes on my Easton 2315 for hunting. Gonna do a helical for the Magnus black hornets. Any suggestions for fletch brand/size if you don't mind?
I'm always a fan of Blazer's. But Bohning X vanes and Fusion vanes are also an excellent choice.
I was planning on doing a community archery tag game with these foam arrows I found on Alibaba, the arrow heads are really well designed (not like the ones I saw on aliexpress) however I’m worried about the cheaper carbon mixed material splintering and causing damage to hands. Would an arrow wrap be able to prevent splintering like that?
No. They're not for structural integrity.
Ok thank you!
This might be a stupid question but if your looking to put bright colors for easy visability couldn't you just put a little spray paint?
You could do that! It's knows as a more of a cresting instead of a wrap but the effect is the same!
How do ya even get started making wraps . What is the process in producing a wrap.
The best thing to do is find a wrap manufacturer like OneStringer if you want something custom. Murray Sign Inc (Facebook) also makes some great custom wraps. I use Scott Schlemmer on eBay (schlem7) and his vinyl is a solid color but man do they perform super well!
Question, I'd love to add 5 grains to my arrow weight ....and I already have a tail wrap and my FOC is currently a bit too low or about 9%. Can i put a 5 inch wrap towards the tip or in the front 50% of my arrow without issues? ....maybe not best practices but do you think it may work okay? I have 6mm Easton axis bloodlines. Thanks!
Great question! But first: Why do you want to just add 5 grains?
@@averagejackarchery ....between 5 and 10 ...but not really 25 grains. if 8 wanted that much of switch inserts
I use bloodline 330. Cut 28.5 with a 50 gr insert, 100 gr field point. Total weight is 424 gr. My balance point. From the field point up the shaft is like 11' 1/8. My arrows are like darts. At 60 yards shooting 2' to 4' groups . As far as % of foc . I don't what it is, but these arrows shoot better then my fmj 320 6mm.
Dip it in boiling water for 10 secs, no bubbles no crease.
Can you wrap the front of an arrow? I always wondered but never wanted to waste a wrap
You can, just doesn't make much sense to.
Average Jack Archery would the wrap hold up? And how heavy are wraps?
i make my own wraps using sticky backed vinyl i also use car wrap material
Wrap vs dipped and crested? Which one you prefer?
Wrapped for sure. Easy if application and removal when need to refletch.
@@averagejackarchery great point. I been buying my arrows dipped amd crested because I liked how they looked but noticed after shooting a couple dozen times they get scratched up pretty bad.
@@averagejackarchery can you wrap a pre crested or dipped arrow such as the easton carbon whiteout?
@@anthonylamb2632 Yup! Wraps will adhere to pretty much anything. Especially since they wrap over themselves at the seam to further the adhesion.
also stiffens shaft i use it for microtuning
Just use wrap quick fletchings like nap .
I tried those on about a half dozen arrows, before I got a fletching jig, and they weren’t all that durable or consistent. They’re surprisingly good for the simplicity they offer but not awesome. 3.5/5 stars
No wraps for me Thank You. Seem pointless with Nockturnals. Easton Axis w/Blazers through Whisker Bisquit-No issues as of yet. Ironic, I was just thinking recently " I haven't heard any chatter about wraps on AT lately ".
2' Blazers work great with a WB. You won't ever have any issues with blazers. The WB won't wrinkle tear your 2' blazers.
Why couldn't one simply add a counter wrap on the front of the arrow?
Can i print my own vinyl wraps?
I've never tried to before! My wife has an electronic vinyl cutter that I've used but I've never tried to print anything on them other than what I might write down with a permanent market.
Average Jack Archery Ok. 👍
Why buy pre-cut wraps. you can buy full sheets of colored vinyl for a fraction of the cost and cut them yourself.
but doesn't adding weight to the rear decrease your FOC......
Did you actually watch the whole video....?
Girly Stuff--Pretty hair and Pretty arrows. A couple of folks already mentioned " messing up your FOC"--to me and extra $1.10 per arrow, is a complete waste of money !! The Deer don't care what hit's them !! LOL
Wraps are good for making it easier too find a arrow. While using a lighted knock or not.lot of foc freaks takes it too exstream. Wraps are a easy way too add some gr. Weight for KE.
