0:30 Sorry for your loss of your father. 🙏
I lost my father March of 2020 during those early days of COVID.
Thank you for creating this video. I’m positive it made your father happy to see you enjoying his tools.

Great video !!! I just bought some 12 gauge Romex, in order to organize my wrench drawers. And just like you, I recently lost my Father (condolences and prayers for you and your family, sir). I am in the process of incorporating his tools into mine.

My condolences for your loss. I just watched her video and the solution is very good. As for the ratchets: They are used to reach difficult places and have that projection in cases where you have to go over other nuts or bolts.

The flex head ratcheting wrenches are for getting leverage on nuts and bolts in places you normally couldn’t reach with a standard wrench.

Really cool idea; sturdy and easy to make. Like the fact that you can choose the wire color too. Your tool boxes are very nicely organized.

I'm a heavy equipment mechanic and those long flex offset wrenches are extremely handy. Sometimes the offset is just enough to get into tight spots. Mine are spline drive and grip on hex nuts and bolts like a 12pt socket. The spline drive is also nice for rusty and rounded bolts. I couldn't tell if yours were spline or not. I have platinum brand and Cornwell brand.
Other brands are EZ RED and Mountain. As well as tool truck brands.

Late to the party but wow man, what an incredibly thorough explanation, you covered everything I can’t believe how much space it saves that’s so awesome! Doing this right away! 👍👍

I did it for my crescent wrenches too. Might even work for pliers. Love it. And it only cost my time since I had the wire.

@@ICanDoItMyself Agreed that’s the best part too and I have a bunch of leftover wire as well to use for it, yours turned out great

Sorry for your loss, its awesome to see you keeping his collection together! is there any chance your father had an earlier model dodge diesel pickup? those custom wrenches he had made look almost perfect for removing the injection pump bolts on 89-93 trucks!

Thanks for the tip. Finally, a good use for my Chinese impure copper wire. Also, In addition to organizing complete sets, you may want to consider organizing your extra tools for common jobs. For example dedicate a drawer for changing brakes and place all brake related tools, wrenches, sockets etc, in one drawer. Everything you need to change brakes is in one drawer. This really speeds things up.

They are low head wrenches for tight places like exhaust manifolds. The hole allows the bolt to go through

Stumbled upon this video but I'm a big 4th gen 4Runner guy so I'll check out the others. You've got a really good presentation for UA-cam. Sorry about the passing of your father. I'm sure that is among the most difficult things to go through in life.

That second “custom made” wrench is almost certainly for the thermostat housing on a GM 3.4L engine.

Thanks for the good video and idea on the wrenches. I turned a wrench (Ford, Honda) for 15+ years and then put my toolbox away. Just now 22 years later I'm starting to organize it. My toolbox was not the prettiest inside, But I was too busy fixing stuff and bringing home money for the family to keep it pretty. Ps: those long wrenches are good for tight spaces like timing belt and timing chains on front wheel drive cars.

Sorry to hear about your Dad, condolences. Inherited tools from my Dad, think of him when ever I use them.
This is great, organizing, yes very adjustable.
I always use red for metric red China commies.
    I use blue for SAE.
I also use the color coded by size sockets, and use paint markers and transfer the colors to non color coded tools.

The way it smells in the drawers remind me of him as well. I just picked up camping gear and his grill that my mom did not want to keep. Those that say "it gets easier with time" makes me want to punch them in the face. Thanks for the kind words.

those wrenches look like they might fit the brakes on my son's Audi. They are like a reverse torx, the head of the bolt is a torx male. Didn't see enough of the wrench head to tell.

    condolences.
thanks for the spring idea, I will try this. any similar idea for sockets?
I have zero offset wrench, fix and non ratcheting one, for my application is usefull for my belt tensioner bearing in suzuki aerio, because none of my socket fit the space. Zero offset with long handle great leverage, and the excess ring make perfect grap to the nut.

Sorry for your loss. Great presentation. How much wire do you need for each stand? I am trying to determine do I buy 100 ft 500 ft etc? Thanks

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  7 місяців тому

100 will probably be plenty of this is the only thing you're using it for. But having 500 on hand definitely ain't going to hurt.

    Sorry about your Father Sir.
Those extended ones might be a Jake Brake adjustment wrench, if he worked on diesels?

    • @ICanDoItMyself
      @ICanDoItMyself  2 роки тому +2

He wasn't familiar with diesels so he didn't work on them much.

    • @charlietuna5962

      Hmm, then I dunno.
I've got some old goofy looking extra long offset wrenches. When I looked up the SO#, said Jake Brake.
Not the new shiny ones, but I'm talking about the home made jobbers.
Those newer ones, look at Amazon and the EZ Red.
      May be the same thing?
Hard to Guage the size from the video......
Either way, great video man, very helpful!
I'm trying to find some tapered dowel.
