Dope song. Good reaction and insight. It is a complex song as you said. Not a hit, but there is a lot there under the surface. You saw it pretty well. This is why I love your reactions. Keep on brother.
A beautiful song with a strong message - Jealousy will eat away at you if you allow it. Quite sparse at first, with just vocals and piano, then the bass and thick, layered harmonies kick in - love this song.
That's why Freddie is seen as a legendary writer of lyrics . . . he saw art in what was already categorised. "Jealousy is a personal characteristic so much so it even has a color, i.e., 'green'.
Many Queen songs take on another meaning after what happened with Freddie, an example of this is "These are the days of our lifes" which if I'm not mistaken was written by Roger Taylor, and talked about his childhood days and how they were quiet compared to adult life. But after Freddie's events, the song sure took on a completely different meaning.
Thank you so much for what you are doing. It is very pleasant to watch and listen to you. I beg you to make a reaction to Freddie's solo song Love me like there's no tomorrow. I think this is Freddie's most beautiful love song. She's very underrated. Amazing lyrics, soulful vocals. She was his favorite song from the Mister Bad Guy album. Just ask without a horrible clip in pink about sick leukocytes. It is very off topic and distracts from the song.
It is a song with a lot of feeling. because it reflects in a realistic way the feelings, that you even feel identified with their songs. Long live the Queen!!!
A song that keeps building and building, haunting, makes you think and feel so much. You "see" so much in the songs and relate your reactions beautifully. Thank you!
Queen - always amazed me in the supreme vocal clarity. They're one of the few rock groups that I never had to ask myself "now, was that? what are they saying?" Very much thanks to Freddie's impeccable voice and wonderful diction. So precise, so beautiful.
You explained so vividly :-))) the essence of this song that I can't add anything more :-) I personally don't believe anybody who says he's never been jealous in his life - yeah, maybe, if you never ever loved somebody. It happens, you don't want it but as Freddie says it kind of sneaks on you. Important is how you deal with it..Thank you for a very interesting and honest opinion on negative emotions in a positive and mature way.
Hap great reaction. You mentioned BoRap and how it seemed to predict Freddie's future. When he was a teenager he and some friends were discussing what it be like to be old, Freddie told them he wouldn't live to be old, later on back in Zanzibar, when he got home from school, he told another friend he thought he would die around 45. This was stated by his friends, I don't if it's true, but it's interesting if it is.
LOVE IT AS ALWAYS. FUNNY THOUGH AS MUCH A WE GOT IT TOGHETHER ALL THOSE EMOTIONS WE NEVER EXPECTED HIT US WHEN FACED WITH A CERTAIN SITUATION.AND LEFT TO DEAL WITH OUR INNER SELF. AWESOME ANALYSIS HAP! LOVED YOUR TAKE ON IT! 🥰💜🙏
I like what you said about it's ok to have certain feelings you may be uncomfortable with, but it's how you react to them. Take them as a learning experience and go on. I wonder if maybe Freddie referred to himself as the villain because he could never let go of his jealous nature. It seems like Freddie loved or "hated " with his whole heart. (No question how he felt when writing Flick of the wrist. 😆)
Hap, you made very good points here. Yes, Freddie left his legacy! I often experience the feelings that I don't want to hurt me more inside. Better accept it and move on. Exactly!! It matters how we react to those uncomfortable feelings. 🙏🏼 Your reaction's awesome 👍👍
Great reaction HAP. I have a couple of songs off of QUEEN'S first album QUEEN that you havent done yet. This first song was about QUEEN'S first song they recorded together. Its called DOING ALL RIGHT. I love it because it shows you how well they harmonize together. I like the lyric video or the live version back in 1977 at Earls Court. The next song is MODERN TIMES ROCK N ROLL written by ROGER TAYLOR. I love the live version at the Rainbow back in 1974. The lyric video has ROGER singing lead but live its FREDDIE singing. Just thought I would give you a couple of songs off their first album for you to listen too. I appreciate all of the songs you do on your channel. Thank you HAP for putting a smile on my face everyday. Take care my brother. Love you my friend. Your girl, QUEEN BEE.
Yes, DOING ALL RIGHT sung by Queen is a wonderful song. Brian May and Tim Staffell wrote it when they were in the band “Smile”. Tim gets a % of royalties from the song, which he says really helps. Btw - Freddie replaced Tim when he left Smile, and promptly decided that they needed a new name, Queen!
after everything that is going on here in the US,nice to listen to something I care to hear and calm me down,as usual spot on with your reaction, dont seem to get on as much as i like anymore, hopefully that changes, thanks Hap!
How I love this song! Brian adapted an acoustic guitar, this from Wikipedia - “May playing his Hallfredh acoustic guitar. The guitar had been give a replacement hardwood bridge, chiselled flat, with a small piece of fret wire placed between it and the strings, which lay above. The strings produce the “buzzing” effect of a sitar.” That sound is so unique, only Brian could do something like that. This song showcases Freddie’s vocal range so well. I love to sing along to it, but I’m terrible!
Perfect reaction Hap! Yes, we need to feel jealousy and all the “bad” feelings that you spoke about, I know I have. You do need to accept them and move on. It makes you a more complete person, which Freddie did and was. Love from across the pond!
Great reaction! Please react to the first two tracks from the Miracle ....! The tracks are named 'Party' and 'Kashoggi's Ship'. Should be played at once 😉👍 Cheers 🥂
I like how thoroughly you listen to all these fine songs, how you get even small things at the first listen. Please react to "Love of my Life", album version. The live versions are so wonderful, but it's important to go back to the beautiful little album song. Nobody would have said it would grow to a live standard over all these years when it came out on "A Night at the Opera".
Heard this song before, however seeing the lyrics really brings a fresh appreciation! Btw - my Queen book (all the songs) just arrived today! Love it, but a couple statements made in the book seem incorrect to me regarding who Freddie wrote certain songs for. (At least from what I’ve read or seen as quotes/interviews). Still a very enjoyable insightful book. 😊
I have made a similar comment about that in this reaction > ua-cam.com/video/haVzqMZKuOw/v-deo.html But was told otherwise. We would have to ask the man himself, perhaps :P
@@HAP3SPEAKZ "The guitar had been given a replacement hardwood bridge, chiselled flat, with a small piece of fret wire placed between it and the strings, which lay gently above. The strings produce the "buzzing" effect of a sitar."
A great reaction to an unknown gem written by Freddie. I sometimes think some songs written by Freddie are more autobiographical than he lets on. He seems to have to this cycle of writing love songs that reflected his disappointment, and knowing much it, his relationships were never a minor thing to Freddie. If I could recommend another band, one that you've not looked at yet, I would suggest you look at Electric Light Orchestra, or ELO for short. They've written many hits in the '70s and '80s, and the lead singer, Jeff Lynne, has had a resurgeence of popularity in recent years. The best song to recommend is 'Last Train to London' on ELO's official UA-cam Channel, at: ua-cam.com/video/Up4WjdabA2c/v-deo.html
You have the best reaction channel !!! I really love your Queen playlist and the way you can spot things and get excited about things that I'd got excited when I heard it or seen it for the first time. I think you haven't done a reaction to "La Japonaise" by Freddie and Montserrat. It's a beautiful song in a Japanese style. One of my fav for sure. I recommend the lyric video cause I love the lyrics so much. Here's the link : ua-cam.com/video/WcaV0eS0xtc/v-deo.html
"Dog With A Bone" Freddie Mercury and Roger Taylor
Love John's bass here
Dope song. Good reaction and insight. It is a complex song as you said. Not a hit, but there is a lot there under the surface. You saw it pretty well. This is why I love your reactions. Keep on brother.
Love this song. In fact I love the whole JAZZ album.
A beautiful song with a strong message - Jealousy will eat away at you if you allow it.

Freddie lived life and gave us emotion through his music. Queen is phenomenal grabbing our hearts!
Your reaction was spot on Hap- I was happy to see you today!♥️
I know Queen since 1981, and I listen this song in 1981 too, so this song very nostalgic for me ❤️
That's why Freddie is seen as a legendary writer of lyrics . . . he saw art in what was already categorised. "Jealousy is a personal characteristic so much so it even has a color, i.e., 'green'.

I've been waaaaaiiiting for you to react to this one!! I LOVE this song!!!! So beautiful. Perfect lyrics & melody...totally bared his soul (again!)
In my opinion this is Freddie's best vocal.

Keep Yourself Alive was actually the first song they ever recorded as Queen, confirmed by Brian
Its my favorite album , though it was my first album I had of Queens . Its a varied album style wise but I LOVE IT

Please check out Freddie singing Barcelona with Montserrat Cabelle - very different, totally awesome :)
Already done.
Try singing along in the same key, harder than you would imagine
imagine? actually gave it a go... very hard indeed. You are correct.

Hap, did you know that the sitar sound is actually made with one of Brians acoustic guitars 😍
I have made a similar comment about that in this reaction > ua-cam.com/video/haVzqMZKuOw/v-deo.html

I meant that even though it sounds like a sitar, it isn't. It's like you said; "Brian playing tricks with his guitar" 😉💕

Thanks Hap, nice start to the morning
You should react to Lane Hardy “American Idol”.
Mad the swine would be nice! Ist an unreleased song from the time of the first album
