Making a Janky Hitch Mounted Hand Truck
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 вер 2024
- In this video, I make a hitch mounted hand truck (with my newly acquired questionable self-taught welding "skills").
My wife and I both do craft fairs to sell our wares. We have a small folding dolly that works for smaller events, but, the hand truck can carry loads vertically or horizontally, so it makes for a good craft show companion.
However, its big, and takes up a lot of space. So its not optimal to have it in the car, or, when I am doing shows, my roof rack is covered with stuff. But I do have a trailer hitch on my truck/SUV, so, I converted our shop/hand truck with some janky welding (first real welding project!), to be able to mount on a trailer hitch. So, check it out, and let us know what you think. And please go easy on the welding comments... just learning how to do it still!
Also, the audio for this is so out of sync in some places, its hilarious, so I just left it as-is :) Janky welding, janky audio... called The New Janky Workshop for a reason!

You better sale the welder or let your wife do the welding
Thanks for watching!
It's not a stick welder. Gotta stop beating on it. Turn up the temperature and slow down the wire.
Agreed... this was the first "real" project I did after getting this FCAW welder. I've learned a wee bit since then. Still not great at it, but better :)
@@TheNewJankyWorkshop do lot's more practice welding off camera and get better with time. People are ruthless and nasty, don't give them the ability.
@@2JustMe1 Haha, of that I am aware! This video, as with a lot of mine, are more of experimentation and skill building. This is out there because the concept is pretty neat IMHO of a making a hitch mounted hand truck, and it was the perfect project to really put that now defunct welder to use.
Appreciate the watch and the comments!
That phone system behind you, came with the building?
Yup! Isn't that sweet? The handset, helmet, etc. Are mine.
@@TheNewJankyWorkshop Sure is. Somewhere I have a red butt set like that one.....and I occasionally need it (the god forsaken fax machines are not going away)!
@@JakobRagnarsson lol... Fax machines! God bless you.
I have a punch down tool somewhere as well that I need to locate and put with that collection.
Not a very good welding technique … All those welds will fail.
It was my first real welding project, so it is definitely a janky job at it! However, it has held up after 2 years of use! (It also has pipe clamps on it as backup!), and I also lash it up to my roof rack as another precaution :)
Stevie Wonder can weld better that that!
The man is already ridiculously talented, I bet he could weld AND play the piano at the same time.
