I hope you continue this series, I just found it and can’t wait to watch part 3
Thought this was sarcasm then saw you posted it a year ago sorry bro
@@stevenpopovich3587This ends at part 2?? just found this channel and subbed, unsub i guess, what a waste of time.
cant find part 3, didn't you finish the trailer?
Ashamed we never got the 3rd video. Would have loved to see this thing all the way to completion...
He has made some replies and I believe a community post about resuming work soon fingers crossed 🤞
Thanks! Enjoy your channel. Are we going to see part three of the trailer build?
Thank you! I have started filming part 3, though I've been distracted by some other more time-sensitive tasks that have come up. My goal is to finish part 3 before winter 👍
Looking forward to it!
I have to think you're going to want some additional structure under that winch. A 12k is going to put some torque on that 3/16" plate. You may want to think about putting some box tube across under it and a front-to-back brace, so the torque doesn't twist the bottom on the box. You might also find that the fairlead isn't happy being used as a directional redirect; although if you mostly stick to rolling loads it may not be an issue. Great job otherwise- I have trailer envy.
This
That 3/16 plate will twist bend even with a little car
This
I installed a winch plate after the fact on my PJ Gooseneck buggy hauler. The plate from PJ is a 1/2" thick. It was very heavy and took some time to get it in between the uprights to where I could weld it.
I used harbor freight's receiver plate for my 12k harbor freight winch. I think it's 3/16 at best and maybe only 15 inches long. I used it to pull stumps out of the ground by strapping one end to a giant tree and the winch wire to the smaller stump. Sometimes even using a pulley to double the power (even though the winch receiver plate isn't effected by the double pull capacity). Anyways, after 11 successful stump pulls I could see that the plate was bent which caused the left and right winch halves to be out of clock. Anyways, if that winch mount isn't restructured on that trailer it will almost certainly take on a new shape. Even with a rolling load I think you could watch it flex as something goes up your future ramps. I'm not trying to give disrespectful criticism, I'm just advising what has and hasn't worked for me personally. Your mount is at a disadvantage seeing as to how long a span it is between you neck uprights compared to my 14 inch span. Love the build!
One suggestion is you're gonna want a deep cycle battery for that application. I made the same mistake with my dump trailer, the constant cycling will kill a regular battery in no time, also deep cycle battery's produce a more constant power over the cycle of the battery, as opposed to a regular battery is designed for short burst of power. Just a suggestion, loving the build!
Actually, deep cycle batteries are not designed for heavy draws like the jacks or the winch. Deep cycles are designed for handling long low draws. Automotive batt's are for deep and shorts heavy burts(like a starting motor on a engine). What is most important is immediate recharges.
Thank you!
@@keithhansen3963 deep cycles are used in the equipment industries for things like scissor lifts and now the hybrid manlifts. those loads are way more than what the jacks and winch will ever use most people dont know what they are doing with deep cycle batteries, they fully discharge them and try to run them at a 15% charge then on. deep cycle batts are great for running hyd pumps. my company rents out elec dump trailers and scissor lifts, all of which run deep cycle batteries
@@cornfed123567 certainly. But take a look at the amp hour rating ratio against the full load requirements of those pieces of equipment. The AH ratings are high to allow those to be cycled without drawing heavy loads.
I seemed to have stirred the honeys nest, but there is a lack of understanding with what “Deep Cycle” batteries are for. There is a reason they aren’t used in the entire automotive world, yet deep cycles are used in say, golf carts. Put a small deep cycle in a lift and it will drain it down immediately. Put a large amount in parallel and it will draw the entire bank slowly. Those rams and the winch will put large draws quickly and he has only one battery. Flood acid starter batteries can handle that. Bass boats use two batt types, one for starting and a deep for the trolling motor( which pulls a steady slow draw). Rv’s benefit from deep cycle as they are slow draws which starter batteries don’t like.
My company has several dump trailers and we learned our lesson. Starter batteries and we recharge religiously. If you don’t believe me, just research it.
I'd say for 80 dollars and Walmart's 3 year free replacement warranty, I think his choice isn't a bad one. He probably won't be using the winch and making multiple 80 foot drags onto the trailer every other day. Is it the absolute premium battery for the trailer? Maybe not but I'm not sure if he could find much of a better deal. I'm pretty sure a group 65 is in stock at every Walmart in the US and for less than 30 dollars a year and pretty much guaranteed a working battery, I'd be interested if there was a more economical solution.
I just love your videos. You are very talented. I am a 61 year old woman that loves to see things you do. I learn allot . Thank you . Sending regards from Australia
I found this channel when part 1 came out and I have to say - you are incredibly talented and it shows on a build like this. Can’t wait for the future videos. Hats off to you sir!
Thank you so much! 🤠
@@WaldosWorld Great Work! Will we see Part #3 for the full finish?
@@WaldosWorld I was cringing so hard when you welded next to a battery
@@Amity172 he clearly took the battery and everything else out before he started welding...
I love how so few people understand "good enough" engineering. Perfection is the antithesis of completion. Sometimes you just have to wing it. Those tend to be my best builds.
I wish I were younger and had your pocketbook!!!~! Good Show.
Waldo i would take serious what Ted Bownas has suggested below the trailer is awesome none the less Congrats Big time on the build
Out of all trailers built, this style holds a spot in my heart. That said, I don't know your lifestyle and wondered if when modifying a bed on the trucks that move them... would it be a "cool factor" to make the four wheel drive into a designated tow only and come up with some "big boy toy sized truck" on the back where it has tool boxes, a headache rack, dual stacks with the chrome turn outs on top.... possibly a air box with its air stack, lights mounted in the back like the big rigs... and if really lost your blooming mind, a air lift tag axle to allow even bigger trailers. That would involve using a different blueprint for lack of words. "Drewmans driveway is a great channel that did kinda go away after life threw him some curve balls Waldo, but never fear, he's back and finishing a really unique truck build. Only Deboss has had the courage to do the same "differently" and his will be true art form with his million dollar credit limit. Since I have a child like imagination with all these ways to "Spend Waldo's Money" I would use what so far is a wide open chalkboard platform. I like the COE body style of the early fifties as in ford, chevy international all did this for a short while and believe you me, they draw major attention. I think one of these would get you past the silver play button an just maybe a gold button as I dream or degrees in my definitely mellow old years of life. Oh howdy would it be fun for me to go down to your place in the morning, hang out till you cry uncle and send me out on a parts run for muffler bearings. Ah yes I have wasted enough of your time, hopefully you read this while doing another cooking video that made me get up and fix a concoction of my own with lots of juice that could just be a meal its self. Yes, I wish to give you a great merry christmas, a blessed new year and ideas that should take this channel right up the charts to number one and for everyones viewing pleasure. I really enjoy your great sense of humor that much of this world could surely gain from
Well thank you very much, I appreciate the comment and the ideas! 🤠
IMHO, Deburring your drilled holes adds a nice finished look, also helps with chafing lines and wires. I am really liking this build, great work!
Car hauler here, look into getting a shocker hitch receiver for the trailer. It isolates the trailer from the truck with an airbag to take some of the NVH from the trailer away from the truck. Also, make sure the spare tire sits sturdy in its mount, because if it shakes as you go down the road, the rattle does transmit down the gooseneck into the truck as well.
You have a great personality. You really could have a cooking show on tv. Lol. That is one heavy duty looking trailer. Great craftsmanship on this build
Thank you so much!
Everybody should recognize this guy skills
Found this channel by chance and its become my favourite
Man is this rig impressive. Hope you like talking about it cause I guarantee you are gonna get plenty of folks looking at it.
Great work man.
Hahaha thank you! 😂
You got me hooked. I'm going to be telling my Uncle about you. He's 87 years old I'm 65. I know this country's gonna be okay with people like you.

WOW ! what a build... this is every man's dream trailer... I could put all three of my Farmall Cubs on that trailer at the same time !!! Great Build, Amazing Edits, Awesome Narration....
Thank you so much! 🤠
There's two types of people, those that talk about doing things and those that do things. You're getting after it! Can't wait for the shop build...
you deserve way more subscribers bro, you have so much talent
Thank you for the kind words! 🤠
I would love to see you finish this series, I'm about to start my own build and have based it off your build. Your videos are great and this may be one of the best channels on this platform, keep up the awsome work!
Been watching the channel for a while and just wanted to say you're a really smart guy and your work is so neat and organized. I've learned a lot from this channel, so thank you.
Thank you, I'm glad to hear it! 👍
You have done an excellent job you are very meticulous it looks amazing I wish they had some of your ability but I’m too old now I’ll be 85 June 6 and all I can do is watch people and I enjoyed watching you build stuff God bless
You're fast becoming one of my favorite channels, you're almost like Mike Patey but on a realistic budget and some good humor.
Trailer is coming along nicely I can’t wait to see the next video
this is pretty cool! I personally would add some 0/0ga power wire from the trucks alternator or battery and add a power disconnect to A.) charge the battery for the winch and hydraulics and B.) give power to the winch and hydraulics while the truck is connected.
Yeah, that's a good idea! 👍
The battery should charge through the 7 pin connector when hooked up to the truck. Not a lot of current but still, how often would someone be using that winch and jacks anyway in a normal day...probably not that much.
The attention to detail is incredible
Thank you!
This was great! I wanted to see the continuation for the trailer, I was talking about that earlier with a friend of mine...weird, perfect timing
That's awesome, glad to hear it!
@@WaldosWorld I'm a 13 year old from Norway, and i love to watch your videos. I have built 3 trailers out of steel for my lawn mower tractor, i love to weld and make tools or other things out of steel. Love your channel, keep inspiring young and old
Lesson learned when I built a trailer and built some boxes in, the box lids need a full rim lip that will catch over the outside of the box to prevent rain from getting in, it will also make the lid more rigid and harder for someone to break into. The way you have them done you will want to include some drain holes and paint the inside of the box with truck bed liner or the like.
That trailer is bad ass, its nice to make things for yourself as you can take the time to do things the way you want and you don't have to spend time undoing bad ideas of others.
WALDOOOOO. YOUR AN INSPIRATION MAN!! love the craft
Thank you so much!
im pretty sure this channel is my life now
loving the videos
Friggin awesome job, i wish you to break the 100k sub barrier soon, you deserve it!
Thank you! I hope so too! 🤠
Excellent job Waldo, that wench should pull anything, thanks for sharing oh even AC would be proud, thanks again.
Thank you! 🤠
great work WALDO, trailer's coming a long nicely, be interesting to see how much she weighes when your finished !
Thank you! I'll definitely be bringing it to the scales when it's finished 👍
I'm guessing about 45 to 4600lbs
28:45 Yes young grasshopper this is why 4wd is NOT an option but a necessity, especially with a dually. You can quite literally get stuck in your yard on wet grass. Also, good solid fab work there. Love the hydraulic jack and winch set up, I think my flatbed trailer needs a refresh with that.
I was so happy to see part 2 of the trailer build! I checked your Chanel everyday to see if you posted it! Great work!
I give you 5 Stars. I have been fabricating all sorts of hod rods, trailers, off road vehicles and trucks for over 50 years. (That kind a gives away my age). I have always liked to look at other peoples ideas and watch videos to gain knowledge. You by far to a great job at fabrication and I haven't seen anyone make videos this good as yours. You could easily market what you do. Thanks for doing such a Great Job.
Mount a 4 inch round spot mirror toward the top of the vertical part of the gooseneck coupler and point it down towards the bottom of the hitch and you can see your hitch from the cab of the truck as you back under the trailer. Works great.
That's a good idea! 👍
Genius!
Great video! Looking forward to more Brandon vids as well as the trailer also!
Thank you!
For those hood struts, turn them so that the rod faces down. The oils in the strut will keep those seals healthy longer and it won't fail so quickly.
Also you may be able to play with the geometry a bit to get the force you need with just one strut. There's some calculators floating around.
Was looking for this comment.
I have no idea what you are doing or why but i love your attitude toward your work and your viewers. Keep it up and i wish you all success!
Looking good. I’d consider adding a couple gussets on either side of the winch inside that top box… but I tend to abuse my equipment and have been known to bend supports on trailers when I arrive to pick up buried old trucks out of fence rows.
Talented individual.. fun to watch and learn. Enjoying the channel. Curious about a lot of this subject matter so really appreciate the uploads.
Hey glad to see you back, been waiting to see the rest of this build. Thanks. PS-you could totally pull off the cooking show.
Haha thanks man 👍
I think I just found another favorite channel Waldo I do a lot of metal fab my self and love learning new things you da man nice work
Build looks great! I like how you layed out the edges and everything to prevent water pooling.
If I may make one suggestion, those gas struts have a tiny bit of oil in them that help to lubricate the seals. If you orient them with the rod pointing downwards the oil keeps the deals from cracking and they last much longer.
Oh interesting, thanks for the tip! 👍
Love all your videos I love how you build a lot of stuff from scratch not to many people doing that anymore
Hey Waldo, another awesome video. Just a piece of advice if your going to keep bending flat bar, rod etc in the vice make sure to bend it towards the fixed jaw of your vice. Keep up the awesome videos
Thanks for the tip!
I found that out the hard way. I ruined a nice vice
The effort you put into the "clack" of the set punch being acoustically pleasing AND in time with the music did not go unappreciated! That was the moment you earned my subscription lol! Keep up the good work!
really enjoy watching you fabricate. looking forward to many more videos. keep em coming!
Thank you!
This is awesome! Makes me wish i had supportive parents who didnt lead me to trauma. Welding is the best thing i have taught myself. Such an awesome thing to melt metal together! Dang it looks nice out there.
Great work! My only suggestion is to drop bolts down through the top (solar charger). If for some reason the nuts/lock nuts were to come loose you still have a bolt dropped down which may hold it together until you see the nuts are gone. If the bolt drops away you're SOL.
Good call!
Been seeing these videos on my recommendations since it came out and haven’t wanted to watch it. Now that I’m rebuilding a trailer, I’m glad I finally did and wish I would’ve watched sooner. Great stuff, going to sit on my butt and watch the rest of your videos now.
I love your videos, the trailer is looking great. I can’t wait to see what future projects you bring home with it. I used to run a mag base drill pretty often, we used to safety chain it when mounted overhead. You know, just incase someone unplugs or trips over your extension cord (happened more often then you would think).
Thank you! Oh man I can imagine it! 😂
Sweet build can't wait to see the next one and then the anticipated flatbed build. Gitty up!
Thanks! I'm also excited for the flatbed build 🤠
Looking good! May want to consider weather strips or drain holes (or both!) in that lower tool box to take care of water that will get slung up from the back of the truck.
Yeah, I added drain holes. I figured it would be too much work to make it weathertight 😂
unbelievable how enjoyment I get in watching your Builds thank you .
Great videos, keep it. Wish nothing but the best for your channel.
Thank you so much!
I am glad I found this channel love the projects
Trailer is looking awesome bud! I stumbled across your channel because part 1 popped up as a suggested video, And I got hooked, Really enjoying your videos keep up the good work!!!
Thank you so much, and welcome!
Since you do a lot of work with steel and welding etc, there is a product you should use. It is called Ospho and used to treat rusted items. Simply spray or brush it on any rusted items and in a short time it will convert iron oxide to iron phosphate which is inert. Parts treated will not rust again and Ospho also acts as a primer for painting. On your gooseneck trailer you could spray it with Ospho which will turn black when it dries in an hour or two. The rust will be gone and you could paint without a prime coat even months later. I bought a 500 gallon gasoline tank to fuel my boats when I lived on the Gulf coast. It was totally rusted so I treated it with Ospho then painted with Rustoleum paint. Five years later sitting next to saltwater, there was zero rust on any part of the tank or frame. Great stuff and it works,
I like the build. If I might make a suggestion. On my gooseneck, I have a gusset plate where the upright and the front of the trailer deck is located. Near where you mounted the jacks. It adds strength but also serves as a step. I also have a handle near the top of the upright. I'm really looking forward to seeing your build on brandon. I have a Dodge 3500 dually that I want to pull the bed off of and build a flatbed, but I'm not really sure how to deal with the bed frames from the factory bed versus a flatbed. Great content I enjoy watching your channel
Thank you! 🤠
Go to a place that makes the flat beds for those trucks and measure everything, and take pictures as well. Then go to your local steel yard and buy what you need and get to welding and have fun doing it. Good luck.
Great video, I suggest adding the mirrors like Billy Bob has on Brandon as well. Like those style of mirrors.
Yeah, that's the plan! 🤠
Interested in building my own trailer also. Looks great! When's part 3 going to happen?
I was going to ask the same thing! I wanna see this done. Really makes me want to do the same thing once my shop is built and I can handle an operation like this
That saw is pretty freaking sweet.
Do this all the time at work... Any straight & vertical piece will work, I use a fiberglass driveway marker because we have thousands of them for reusable survey markers. Fasten it to your ball with a velcro strap or some zipties. Using your rear view mirror, center it on the hitch and when you bump it, the trailer should drop right on. Perfect for 1-man hitchup.
Good idea, thanks for the tip!
That truck looks sooooo good, so does the trailer
Waldo, I just love the videos 🥳 I wish I could do all that👍🏻😎
Thank you! You never know until you try 😉
You’re an animal man. So glad I stumble upon your channel
Love this trailer - I'm envious! But I think you'll need to reinforce that winch mounting, unless you did and I just missed it.
Thank you!
Thanks for the video am building a goose neck out of old camper trailer frames am learning a lot from your videos keep up the good work
WHERE IS PART 3
Hopefully next video gonna be part3 according to him
Should have made part 3 was enjoying the build

Outstanding Job on the Trailer, I love the way you have built it and all the options you have installed on it!!! Excellent job Waldo!!!
Thank you so much!
@@WaldosWorld your welcome
btw, Red curry 🍛 looks delicious
🤤
Thank you, it was! 😎
If its not too late, I think it would be a good idea to weld on a flange around the toolbox, so you can install a gasket. That front lip works great for rain when the trailer is stationary, but at road speeds I images water hitting the front of the box and traveling up underneath that lip. All that depends if you are planning to store anything you'd like to keep dry in there, if not just cut small drain holes in the back corners and call it a day ;) Great work I love watching you build!
That Waldo, what a guy, delivering high quality content every single time. Very similar to Toms Turbo Garage!
Thank you for the kind words!
This just popped up in my recommended vids. These videos right here make me want to keep trying my hand at welding, this is absolutely beautiful…new subscriber
Careful with hydraulic jacks that can lower while you are driving and cause major damage to the trailer. Also looked like the left jack as you pull the trailer wasnt up all the way when the right jack was.
haha great intro, looking forward when its finished
Thank you!
I would gusset under that winch plate it will bend. Overall great build
Thank you!
I think I would add some more steel as well for the bolts. 12,000 lbs is a lot of force and they could pull through. Maybe some thick angle iron?
I have that same winch on my car trailer and I love it. It’s never let me down
Love your videos Waldo. The time and effort you put in your movie is highly appreciated but bump it up to 2 times a week I can’t wait this long ;-) your movies, watch wes work and Diesel Creeck are my favorite
I know, I was trying to get videos out more frequently, but I got sick while making this one and it took a while to get back on my feet 😬
@@WaldosWorld glad you're feeling better man. Take care of yourself, we'll watch whenever you can post. This has become one of my favorite channels to watch as well!
That bed builds sounds amazing can't wait to see how it turns out
Again man your video quality and editing is incredible Waldo! Are you going to be incorporating a back up camera into the head rack for the duramax? You mentioned how hard it was seeing the ball in a 4 door might be a good option to incorporate
Thank you! Yeah, I'm definitely going to have to consider a camera back there 👍
I found your channel a couple weeks ago, binge watched everything and have been constantly, slightly impatiently, waiting for your next video since. Thank you!
Wow, thank you! This video took a lot longer to get out due to an unforeseen delay. I definitely try to get videos out more frequently 😬
Great video, Waldo! Trailer looks great. Did you think to add water drain holes in your toolbox and accessories box? I love when you get the magdrill out, to avoid the tedious drilling with a hand drill. 👍
Thanks, Greg! Yep, I cut the corners out of the floors for water to drain out. I couldn't bring myself to make these ones weathertight. It's a ton of effort and isn't really necessary for this 😂
🤣 you started the show with cooking I was looking back thinking I press the wrong video Great job thank you for sharing
Just curious, it's a 12,000 lb winch but the only structure it has is 3/16 plate. If you try pulling anything substantial it's gonna bend that plate really easily.
It's 3/16 plate, but it's backed up by a piece of 5" c-channel on one side and it has an 1/8" plate at 90 degrees on the other side to keep it from buckling. It's basically like a fabricated piece of 12" c-channel. I think it'll be strong enough 👍
@@WaldosWorld idk man you might be right, but watch the footage for the flex when you simply added the winch and battery. I get what you're saying about it being a fabricated c channel, but once the bottom starts pulling up you've compromised the integrity of the c channel. It appears adding some simple box tubing as a support would be simple. Idk... Who knows until she blows haha!
Great production quality man, AND build quality, nice to see someone not cutting corners
Love the intro!! Looking forward to seeing the upcoming work on your truck - it deserves it! Let's go Brandon!
Thank you! I'm excited to get the truck on the road! 👍
Buddy I own pdq trailers in Florida your doing a great job from one New Englander to another !
Thank you!
Even If it was a cooking show I'd watch it haha so glad another episode came out! By far my favorite UA-camr. LETS GO BRANDON
Thanks, you're too kind! Maybe I should make a cooking show? 🤷♂️
Just watched part 1 last night and was really sad when I didn’t see a part 2. Nice work!
Good timing! 😉
Just wondering, are you planning on painting the trailer? Can’t wait to see more on the Duramax flatbed build.
Yep, I have some epoxy primer and urethane paint, although I'm sort of considering getting it hot dip galvanized. It's kind of large, so that might be a challenge 🤷♂️
Sounds ambitious to galvanize it. Can’t wait to see more!
First off, I love the build. For a back yard build it sure is looking nice.
ATF? Cheap is not always the best choice. Hydraulic fluids and ATF's can be very different between manufacturers, even for the same spec'd oils. Hydraulic fluid has better anti-wear properties while ATF has better antifoam. I would also check with the manufacturer of the pump as well as the cylinders for compatibility and warranty coverage with alternate fluids. A quality fluid will save you money and headaches in the future.
Awesome build! Just wondering, with that hydraulic set up, would it be possible to hard pipe the hydraulic lines to those jacks?
Yeah, I would imagine it is possible. Interesting idea!
I was thinking the same thing, could even do steel line with short flex hose connections to the jacks and pump to allow for movement and vibration.
I have been waiting two weeks for this video. Great to see it!
Thanks for watching!
