Only one good riff ever, so I seem to hear.
Down here in Texas we pronounce the town of La Grange like it rhymes with change. Of course, all of us older ones know of the chicken ranch that inspired the song. It closed when I was in high school, so all I ever did was hear about it....:)

😂😂😂Beatles write great pop/rock songs....not necessarily the greatest rock riffs!!
Here’s what’s crazy: you could fill a top 20 list with all Zeppelin, all Sabbath, all DP, all VH, all AC/DC. Then you have to throw in about 10 songs from Aerosmith’s first 4 albums (Combination is unreal), some Stones (Monkey Man anyone), Hendrix, Cream and Beatles. Even CCR! Point is: great bands have great riffs, period, making this list pointless. Regarding ZZ Top, I’ll take Just Got Paid.
You can tell the core reader Demographic for Guitar World magazine, by the selection of the riffs...Young males in the 20-35 year old age group. All of those riffs played are classic iconic riffs; however, when a poll is conducted by a publication such as Rolling Stones magazine that has a wider age group target, iconic riffs such as Satisfaction, Daytripper, Jumpin Jack Flash, You Really Got Me (Kinks) would be at the top of the list. 🎼🎶🎵🎵🎸🎸🎸🎸

Exactly..... not one Stones, Beatles, Who, Cream, Kinks riff in the top 10 ? The above mentioned bands could fill a top 40 greatest all time riffs by themselves.

As far as the Guitar World readers poll and Whole Lotta Love goes, it came in as the number one riff because it’s the first track on Led Zeppelin II, which is widely considered to be the best guitar riff ALBUM of all time. It’s kind of like the opening kickoff to the Super Bowl if it were returned for a touchdown.
I happened to see The Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience open for Govt. Mule (doing Dark Side of the Mule, btw) at Wolf Trap; which is an amphitheater that’s part of the National Park Service right outside of DC, a few weeks ago.
They were incredible!!! It was like listening to a Led Zeppelin album played note for note perfect, except it was a bunch of songs from different albums. I would highly recommend anyone that’s even a casual Led Zeppelin fan to see them if possible.
Of course Govt. Mule is an amazing band, and they recreated Dark Side of the Moon in a very magical fashion, and Wolf Trap is basically my favorite venue, especially the lawn section, in the world. They let you bring in a 38 quart cooler full of whatever you’d like; including alcohol, with the price of admission.

Disagree, pthe intro is all down and later in the song he loosens it for alternate strokes so it swings.

I disagree with Smoking Joe. The closest version I've heard of Whole Lotta Love uses no bends, just slides and hammer ons/pull offs.
I've played Back in Black, but it sounds closer if you play E and D (full chords not power 5 chords) on the 7th and 5th frets respectively. It also frees up the pinky (or ring finger) for ascending chromatic lick starting on the B (5th string second fret) .
