- Here I'll tell you my thoughts about why I'm getting a PS5 pro and why you probably will too.

I was so excited to buy Dragons Dogma 2 physical. Now I'm bummed on it. Digital has it's benefits. Not all pluses but I'm just saying. Gamepass ultimate may be a tough pill to swallow but it's not a bad value if you've got the cash to spend. I dk.
Aside the initial price tag and the lack of stand. Being digital will only benefit them most. Disc were better since a lot of people can cheap out on games that has been out for years (lower price as 2nd hand sell). You can buy disc for offline games or single player games and prefer to DL games that has online multiplayer feature this way it was efficient. why did they have to change. prolly to control the prices of games obviously. And we know in around 2 years the new gen console will be released.
Was gonna buy the pro but I guess the base model becomes a better option for flexibility.

I'm not trying to buy Concord or Suicide Squad kills the Justice League or Dust-born. I try to be a good dude. But I'm not interested in buying into ideological games. I'm here for Helldivers and Space Marine 2 because while the activists may push an agenda calling these kind of games 'toxically masculine' I see them as just good ole fashioned fun. Inflation has gone through the roof, I was expecting a $700 dollar price tag or even more. But the specs dont justify an upgrade at all, IMO. I was expecting a massive tech upgrade, I am the demographic sony caters to, I jumped at the chance to upgrade to a PS4 pro, and it was a massive upgrade from the original console This new PS5 is far from that. I specifically ordered my OG PS5 with the diskdrive. That being said, I only bought 4 actual copies of games in the beggining, every single full game purchase afterward is digital content I downloaded. I was really hyped for a major PS5 pro overhaul, and this new model just doesn't add enough features to justify upgrading my PS5 for a PS5 Pro.
There you go. As much as I'd like to have a library of physical games. I just... don't. I have a ton of digital games. That's just reality. Whether I like it or not.
ps5 pro is great for those who want it and can afford it. ps6 wont come out before 2027-2028. those who want to have the best console right now dont want to wait. thats a personal choice. some are ready to spend over 1000 on a video card for their pc. why not spend 700 for a console and 80 for a disc drive and 30 for a stand ? i dont think its so overpriced. the ps5 pro has double storage , better gpu , 10 percent cpu boost , better ray tracing and other things. i think its worth it. you get what you pay for. i saw many videos where they say the ps5 pro is good and does give a good improvement. many talk bad about it just because they not like the price but thats not the only thing you should look at.

What does a gaming PC running native 4K at constant 60fps cost? Or just start with the G-Card instead.
Unless you have a 90" TV or sitting very close to the TV running games at 4k is a waste. Consoles are designed mostly to be connected to the TV.
I'm a PC gamer who has a gaming PC connected to a 65" TV. I need to be within 8 feet in order to see the details of 4k over 1080p.
The majority of competitive PC gamers uses an average size 1080p monitor to get better performance as well able to see the entire screen in their visual range.

I never bought a ps5. I've been busy since 2019 with 2 sons. I was really looking forward to the pro, but ill probably just get a used PS5 disc just for GTA6 & Ghosts 2.

I hear that. As expensive as consumer electronics are, they are inherently for enjoying and discarding eventually. Unfortunately that's the deal. I usually try to sell my stuff used after I've played and enjoyed. I never bought a PS5 opting instead for the XSX. So I see this as a good time to buy. Maybe I'll turn it in when the PS6 comes out.

an extra 1tb is worth $100 extra or $600, hoe much for an extra 1tb ssd with a better gpu than series x? $610? The pro Its a good price.
The pro is $350 for me after selling my ps5.
Yea, I bought an external 1tb hard drive for my series X. I forget how much it was. Around $100 I would guess.
PS5 Pro will 100% sell out their first run. I predict it will be Feb 25 or March 25 when they will be easily available after launch.
Multiple people have been telling me to look at getting a PS5 slim. Idk. I'm interested to see how this all shakes out. In any case, seems like a good opportunity for me to get into the ecosystem. I've got a good tv. 55" LG C1. Although that 65" LG C4 for 1699 at costco is looking niiiice. I dig my setup. I'm actually about to get a new 360 action camera to make more videos. I'll mount it in the car to make Tesla FSD videos and I'll make ski touring and maybe some swimming vids. I dk. After selling my Quest 2, part of me wants to get a Quest 3 but I just can't justify it to myself. 3d pron just hasn't come far enough yet. Lol.
If you have to zoom in to tell the difference then it not worth $700. I think the point people trying to make is this is the beginning of a bad trend. If this console sold well. Sony is going to price their console at that price from now on.
It doesn’t come with a disc drive or stand is the most concerning part because Sony might also remove stuff later like how apple remove headphone jack and sim card slot. That means Ps6 generation the console might not even include a controller or a power cord so you have to buy those separately too.
@@thelordofanime6150 adjusted for inflation, a lot of consoles have been about the same price. Unfortunately the whole industry is moving to digital only. Everything. How many CDs do you have? How many movies do you watch on blu-ray? I have a collection of physical media that I barely ever touch. As far as the stand, I think peripherals will be bundled in 'deluxe' editions or what-have-you. I'm not saying I like the trend. My point is that this isn't just a Sony thing. This is a global thing. The big companies are not physical media companies anymore. They switched to cloud service providers and now AI. Crazy thought incoming but I can imagine a future where we have games a la carte from prompts. Like yes I'd like to play FFX but I want to have Geralt in my party.
Sony in the past could take a loss on hardware and make it up in game sales. That is no longer the case so Sony have to make a profit on hardware which Nintendo have been doing with decades. You can bet Nintendo will not sell the Switch 2 at a loss.
People are upset because PS5 pro isn't as good deal as Playstations in the past. Triple A titles are expensive which is why we seeing Sony bring their games to PC.
There are so many playstation exclusives that I haven't played yet.

Like why do I need a more powerful machine? I see so many people argue that you're better off getting a gaming pc. But I don't want a gaming pc. My LG C1 can only show so many pixels. If the game runs well then it runs well. We don't even have games that take advantage of the power of the current gen is my understanding. I could be wrong there... But I was making the point in the earlier response.. Raw power is only one variable to optimize for. Utility. Functionality. Simplicity. Fit in an ecosystem. And plug and play are all variables as well. I like just pressing the button and playing a game. I genuinely don't care about the specs of the experience. I get that a shit quality sucks. But I mean I just played through the xbox 360 Conan. I never once thought about the fidelity of the game or how many frames I was getting. I was focused on not dying.

@@unjustkatana me too. Those of us that went for Xbox this generation and those who just kept on the PS4 (which apparently is a large percentage of the Sony player base) all are looking to upgrade. And Sony has so many banger games that Xbox gamers have thus far missed out on.

I think its dumb that it doesnt have a disk drive because all the people that have bought the physical disks so far for their ps5, if they want the pro they are forced to buy the disk drive seperately just to play the games they already have played. They dont have any new games right now really so no digital downloads right now. Or if they want to see these “upgrades” on the pro with their old ps4 games, guess what they have to buy that disk drive or digitally download them now. So really you are spending over $800 just to have a ps5 with a disk drive. Gamestop isnt going to be taking that $410 trade in for long. They wont be able to profit much off of that. Do it now and wait then but man i will not be upgrading mine.
I hear you. I think it makes more sense for those of us who don't have a PS5. If you already have one, I can see the frustration. For me, I went with the series X this generation. I have zero physical playstation games. So for me it's looking good.
@@devintriantos 100% i actually owned a ps5 right and a series x. Beat the main single player games and it sat collecting dusk. So i sold it and later on won a ps5 and got one for free. Now it collects dusk still lol. Last game was ragnarok. I play my series x way more and never have to buy games again because of gamepass. If they dont come out on gamepass i just wait and typically they do😅 last game i bought i think was eldin ring for xbox. Otherwise i buy my switch games and thats about it. But still $700 i wouldnt especially because i see people on marketplaces selling their ps5’s for about $250-$300

Yea, I only have gamepass core trying to 'take control of my game library' or whatever but the value proposition of gamepass 'ultimate' is hard to pass up now. I get it. It hurts when a game rolls off gamepass. But this is the new world we live in. All digital. I have a switch also. And I get all the super mario games. Thing isnt even out yet, they could very well be over selling it, as they have done before. Its almost double the price of PS5. I have had PS5 only for 2-3 years and im done with sonys bullshit. PC is the future for me, i would rather pay 2 or even 3 times more for a PC.

@@zebiexteburzum663 I won’t go gaming pc for several years just because I’m bought into the apple ecosystem. I’ve got an M2 Pro Mac Mini and just upgraded to the iPhone 16 pro. But I love the simplicity of console. And I like playing on the tv.
@@devintriantos Ye thats fine, for me the biggest ICK of Console gaming is that they do not support keyboard / mouse for 99% games and the 30 fps lock. Literally making a bunch of games unplayable for me. Also performance > graphics and lately PS5 games cant hold stable 60fps even for 1080p/1440p. Thankfully i have a alot of PS4 games i can enjoy in 60 fps, not that sony has many PS5 only games to begin with.

Go ahead, keep trying to justify to yourself the reasons you want to buy a PS5 Pro. That's fine, they're your reasons, but that does not make everyone else's opinions wrong and it's arrogant of you to think it does.

To each their own. To me it represents poor value. And it sets a scary price precident for next generation. I'll never try and tell others what to buy. However, I'll also always vote with my wallet. I for one am not going to make excuses for billionaire companies greedy price rises.

@@devintriantos I think it's more a case of pleasing shareholders. Higher price means less units sold. Less units sold means higher per unit prices. These pro models are a terrible idea anyhow. It weakens the power leap feeling of a new generation.

My question is how is it a pro if it lacks things the base model included? No disc drive and no stand. Just how does that make sense? I know I won’t be upgrading cause the base PS5 performs perfectly fine. I still love my PS5.
Fair point. To answer your question, the future is digital whether we like it or not. My new mac mini doesn't have a disc drive. And we only need one drive. I have a series X. So I am considering getting one.

@devintriantos consumers dictate what the market provides. If the external disk drives are sold out, it suggests consumer demand is high for disk drives. Sony providing a product that lacks this, will see less sales as a result.

I'm getting one, but I have a normal paying career with a normal income and I'm not a 15 year old complaining on the forums and every comment thread acting like the PS5 Pro is $7000 instead of $700
I think we're in a similar boat.
Like it ain't cheap, I get it. And the lack of a disc drive kinda sucks. But I just see it as a stepwise improvement and they'll push a lot of units. This is my chance to get in the game and play a bunch of great games I've missed so far. Bloodborne, Demon Souls, Detroit Become Human, God of War. FFXVI, etc.
@@devintriantos Yup same. Considering a $5 burger costs $12-$15 now, it's surprising the PS5 Pro isn't actually $1500.
Also yes I'm going to replay FFXVI because it ran pretty poorly in "performance" mode on the regular PS5. It made an otherwise excellent game, not as enjoyable when it had a choppy 35-40fps instead of 60.
The last game I can't wait to re-play is FFVII rebirth. Performance mode ran well, but it was a blurry mess.

I get it inflation in the past couple years has been so bad in a historic rate which is one of the reasons why pc parts are high too. And why the PS5 hasn’t dropped in price in 4 years!
That being said you could built a pc that is more powerful for $800.
That’s really bad if you could built a pc that’s more powerful for only less than 15% more. Heck if you wanted to build one as powerful you could too with some cut cutting corners if you really wanted too but I don’t think someone would want to since the cpu on the ps5 pro is the reason why it can’t do 120fps in the performance mode. $800 in a custom pc will get you the same GPU level but a better CPU that could handle those games in the same visual quality but with over 100 fps because thaw cpu won’t bottleneck the GPU. And that’s before the 8000 series of GPU from AMD drop next year which then will push current GPU prices down.
Point is every console ever released was always a way better price to performance machine vs a custom built PC. The normal PS5 was too when it first came out in 2020.
This PS5 Pro however isn’t. Sony is charging $700 for it and that’s basically what it cost to built a PC with that power except the PS5 is a closed system and is only a gaming machine unlike a PC.
Don’t get that? I know it seems like you’re not that informed in gaming PCs and gaming PCs parts but if you were you would know how bad of a value this thing is for a console.
Heck Sony is getting shit for not dropping the PS5 price down yet after 4 years because PCs have almost caught up to it too in terms of value. And now they do this?
When the PS5 launched in 2020 for $500, a PC equivalent would have been well over $1,000. Around $1,200.
When the PS4 Pro came out in 2016 for only $400!! a PC equivalent was around $700-$800.
Same with the normal PS4 in 2013 that also came out for $400, a PC equivalent at the time would have been $700-$800.
You see now why this console is so bad? For $700 a pc equivalent is just barely more expensive.
Now only should it have been $600 but it should have also gotten in upgraded CPU.
That fact that a gaming console is selling for almost the same price as an equivalent PC at launch is that so bad.
Good point. No, you're right. I haven't paid attention to gaming pcs for many years. I think convenience factor is a big one. Like is the casual gaming dad going to buy a ps5 pro or a prebuilt starforge pc. If I start browsing pre-builts (because I'm not trying to build a pc)(maybe once my kids are big enough to help) I'll look at the high end pcs. The high end pcs can be 5k. Right? So I see this as another reasonable addition to the console wars. That's all. I get where you're coming from, but not every casual gamer knows nor wants to learn about the diy gaming pc market.
