I did roofing and remodeling for 22 years and I put my back through a lot of stress and strain over those years. What I have learned is that even if you do not get any popping of the joints it is still better to do something than nothing. I have a lot of muscle tension in my lower back and I have to at least once a day do some stretches to help with that. I don't always get any popping but the tension relief is better than nothing. My advice is to do the exercises in this video at least once a day and you will be so much better off for doing them than not.

hi dr.rowe,im 54 years old and when i turned around 43 is when i started feeling differant in my body,i started gaining weight faster,i was eating at night ,if i told you everything, you and anyone reading this would fall asleep so today im going thru youtube looking for a person to help me with my problems with my knees, middle back and hips,so at first i thought it was my knees stopping me from going out and walking to get excersise and it was at first, but then i started feeling weird stuff in my back,i gained alot of weight and the middle of my back feels like a weight is just under my skin and sometimes i would ask my poor youngest daughter to rub it for a few minutes and it worked for a few minutes and i lost sleep because of it,anyways im not going to bore you to sleep any longer,i just want to thank you for sharing this video, becuse it made me realize my body needs to be stretched and cracked and moving more, way more then im doing ,so when i tried to simply lie on my matt on my floor,i couldnt easily, that scared me,i also noticed that i was having a hard time reaching down to put my dogs leash and harness on for a walk,so i forced myself down onto my matt and laid flet, nothing under me,on my bed when i sleep,i sleep on like 5 or 6 pillows.thinking thats gonna help me sleep,i was wrong,so i started out by breathing and relaxing,dr rowe,as soon as i put a little towel under my neck and i went to try and put my left arm under me,i couldnt, but my neck popped and it felt like the whole world was lifted off my neck,im serious,my daughter turns her body and her whole back cracks and it made me mad because nothing was popping on me,so anyways this is a start,i def need to stretch my body more and i mean every part of my body because i never lay flat on my back or tummy, could this be why my body feels the way it does? my legs get tired faster and i have to sit down,so im going to try all your stretches here and then look for more of your videos and i hope you have more because already ,i feel like you saved my life,im serious dr rowe, just my neck doing a little pop while laying flat ,that feeling ran all the way to my toes, thank you i will def be watching you every day,i weigh 260 pounds, the pandemic didnt help me ,but i only have myself to blame,i was like this before the pandemic, meaning not watching what i eat,so my butt is huge and my tummy is bigger,do you have weight loss videos i hope? if not there are alot on youtube but your video right here, woke my body and mind up,thank you so much

Thanks so much for this video!! It's incredible when chiropractors & other specialists offer such helpful tools & advice for those of us suffering with pain on the daily.. Unfortunately there are too many physical therapy specialists who believe more in prolonging a patient's treatment & making money (& therefore their suffering) instead of helping patients recover as quickly as possible.
Sadly it puts a terrible cloud over all in the profession & prevents many people from even starting treatment, let alone sticking with a "treatment plan".
I'm sorry to say that I haven't been able to find any decent chiropractor in my area as they didn't even meet me for a personal assessment before claiming I'd need a treatment plan drawn out over several months (so I declined).
So again, I sincerely appreciate your candor & compassion..& I'm sure so many others do as well!

Oh my goodness! On Memorial Day, I was helping my mom landscape a corner of her yard, and a day later I had pain in the back of my right shoulder, under the shoulder blade and under my arm (armpit area) with some tingling in that arm. Also tightness extending up to the neck. When I coughed, it felt worse. I thought maybe I had a back upper rib out, or maybe even a tumor since it hurt when I coughed (I know... bit dramatic, but it felt that bad). I just did the very first exercise of your video.. with the arm behind the back and pulling the head in the opposite direction, and I felt two tiny pops and had some immediate relief! I did this in my office chair though... but will do it later lying in bed with the towel to really get it out. Thank you sooooooooo much! You are amazing!

Thank you for posting your videos. It may sound corny or cliché but I don’t care lol. By using the various exercises and techniques you demonstrate in your videos my quality of life has improved immensely.
I’ve even been able to lose some of the weight I gained after suffering a back injury that prevented me from working any longer.
My flexibility has improved and my strength has started to return as well. Now I know that some would attribute those things to my exercising each day and learning Tai Chi but I wasn’t able to do those things until AFTER I started using what you demonstrate in your videos. In fact the first 15 lbs I lost was before I started exercising and is a direct result of simply being able to move about pain free.
I have incorporated a number of your simple stretching activities into my daily routine which has greatly increased my mobility. It’s not all about “cracking” and “popping” every time I do the stretching routines. Its about being pain free and more flexible so I don’t re-injure myself while exercising and doing other activities.
Yes there are times when I feel the need to “pop” something back into proper alignment but those times are becoming less and less frequent and are usually associated with me doing something I shouldn’t have or not spending enough time stretching before moving on to more strenuous activities.
And of course all of this has caused me to be able to lose fat and gain muscle which also helps protect me from re-injuring myself lol.
Anyone looking at my new lifestyle and list of activities that I couldn’t do just six months ago would have to agree with me that it all started with that very first technique I learned from the very first video of yours that I ever watched.
So a big Thank You from me and from my grandsons who I can now spend more time with doing the things I used to do with them before I got injured.
I’ve watched all of your videos at least once and smashed the like button on every single one of them and subscribed after that very first video of yours I watched lol
    Cheers mate

Oh my god a rib has felt like it’s needed to pop for years and I finally caved and made a makeshift roller out of a candle and the pop was immediate and I feel so much better it was the best feeling ever, I’m so happy.
Alot of things dont work bc I do circus flexibility stuff so I’m so happy that worked

Tried this on my dad, he's been relaxing on the floor since then. I may have done it differently, and a little too close to the neck, but it still worked! Thank you!

Love how I get into position to start the first exercise and immediately feel popping in my hips, knees, shoulders and back...

@@DrRowe Thanks! I would usually use my fist in my lower back to release locked up joints in my spine but using the back of my hand & pairing it with the neck stretch like you recommend in this video hits more spots in my back and helps my neck and shoulders a bit as well.

I used to never have issues with my neck until I went to a chiropractor once and it's been bugging me since on and off and constantly having to pop it for relief. Usually I try to breathe out and force my shoulder/neck muscles to relax before moving my head to one side to make it pop to alleviate pressure. That one exercise is so much easier and does wonders, thank you!
