Steve Johnson did a great video about focusing on hitting the colored half of the ball that is closer to you off the tee. I don't use these two-tone balls, but this promotes the inside to out swing path and as helped correct my slice and tendency to fade the ball.
Rick, Have you ever done a video on "one length" iron sets? Sets where all the clubs have the same length regardless of loft? I'd love to see a review.
@@aag113 I would love that. In my practice rounds I tee off with a z and switch to this on the green. Illegal, I know, but I love putting with it!! I hope the rumor is true.

Ever try aligning the ball the other way? I always struggled lining up straight at the hole but perpendicular to the hole has helped me vs. no alignment or aligning straight at the hole
I have switched to the Z Star XV Divide for multiple reason. I'm a retired engineer so I can over analize things a bit but here it is worth noting. Softness and spin to me is the same as the Titleist AVX ball. Big thing is the white/yellow color and here is why. Blue is the hardest color for your eye to see and follow, on overcast days a white or blue diappear into the sky. Red and Orange are hard to see in high grass and impossible during the fall season. Finding the ball in rough even high rough is easier NOT THATCH when the ball settles down like in this video. The other benift is it is extremely easy to follow in the air esspecially on over cast days. With the white and yellow to almost looks like the ball is flashing in the air, hard to miss it. Last is sound and feel, there is no question when you hit a solid shot and can feel how fast the ball leaves the club face. After trying them for three rounds I only lost two balls (not much to say when you put it in the water). I went back to the store and bought 8 dozen once they had them in stock and saved $15.00 per dozen over the AVX. A fair amount of people I play with are seniors with average to poor eye sight and play all yellow balls, this ball is a game changer and my ball stands out in the crowd. Off the tee I always have the yellow half up.
I found that same issue on the tee with the triple track balls. I have to try and hide the lines. You could try putting the line parallel to the club face which might be a useful visual
I always thought when they rolled on the green slowly they were like a spinning lure used in fishing. Overall these balls are great, playing decently well as a 6 handicap with them. Can’t wait for the Z star version to come out.
I just bought the blue and yellow. Great feeling golf ball. I don't use the color divide to line it up I use the Srixon logo as my alignment aid. The biggest benefit for me is, the random colors remind me every shot, that this is a game. Probably silly but I enjoy walking up to the ball. For driver put it solid side up.
"If i wear a black hat, the idea is the sun will be absorbed into the hat and my vision will remain unaffected.. RIGHT, lets try it out and she how she goes"
Great review. I place a dot along the center of my golf ball (I play Kirkland Golf balls) as a focus point. I also place it right behind the imprinted name and I use that to line up my ball on putts. Placing a dot in a similar manner might be helpful no matter if you line this ball up with both colors visible or with one color. I'm planning on trying this just for the fun of it. I'll let you know how it goes!
I agree with your statement at 5:30. I don't line the ball up at the hole. I do line the line up at a 90 degree so I don't feel the pressure of being perfect.
I bought a dozen to try as I use the Q star anyway… you’re absolutely correct about the line messing with your head on the tap in putts! Lovely feel…, would prefer a glossy finish! Just a faze! 😎
Eyeline golf impact ball liner is the best putter alignment ball marker in existence. Been using it since 2017. I make my own divide style practice balls with it too for my home putting mat
Played the red / yellow and the blue / yellow and I will say that the red and yellow are much easier to find in the rough. Blue and yellow if the blue side is up makes for a challenge to locate your ball but they are cool to watch in flight. They do help with putting and are not that much of a distraction if you put a good stroke on it. By the way these are the Q-Star Tour just in two colors.
Here's a suggestion for the tee shot: Align the ball with the line perpendicular to the intended shot line. I like this visual as it helps me square the clubface.
Oh crazy! I found one of the blue/yellow ones in some weeds yesterday and thought immediately of Rick's video on the Ping two-toned balls. Crazy that literally the next day, you release a video about them. I'll have to give that ball I found a try tomorrow!
With the driver I would place the ball with the line parallel to the driver face rather than perpendicular. That’s what I do with a standard ball with a line
I have to say that I tried these balls and before watching your video just thought I hit the balls better (never even read the box) but I could see a difference in distance. I do love these balls, I dont line puts up and Like you see one colour on the tee. I just love the feel and its just fun!
I bought a dozen when they first came out and had the same issues with them as you are experiencing. I use them now to practice my putting stroke at home and at the course. You definitely know when you put a good stroke on the ball. Great video Rick, keep them coming.
I got one in the pro shop at my all star match. I wish I got more. I absolutely love it. When I tee off you can at first see it spinning then you can’t tell it’s spinning but once it lands on the green you can see it roll. It looks awesome!
Newbie here and loving all things golf! My number one question is,...where does one focus on the ball when hitting it? Top?Side?Middle?Ground? Silly question but have tried different focus points and have different results. Thanks for your sharing your knowledge on your channel,..helps me a lot!! I'm a lefty if that helps.
I tried a dozen of these fishing bobber balls... and really liked them around the green, my only concern was the color options.. If they had a yellow/lime green I might would switch over to them, but the colors they choose, if any of them land with the yellow down, it makes them a bit difficult to spot off the fairways. another issue is when playing the ball down, they lines on the ball being in any direction from the lie can be frustrating.. I might play these again when winter rules are in effect, but outside off the tee box and the greens, the stripes on the ball aren't pleasant to look at unless you can place the ball like you want it. The feedback on drivers and irons during flight from the tees is also really great. you can really see if you are spinning the ball off center... but like you said, it doesn't look right lined up with the driver, and I found myself hiding one color entirely from my perspective.. so it ended up being something that wasn't entirely useful in practice..
I switched to these a couple months ago and I love them. The putting alignment is great but i really love hitting a wedge shot and seeing the spin. Also Blue in yellow is the way to go. Never a question what ball is mine.
Love these golf balls and have been playing them for about a year! Although I play just the all white ones. Glad you finally did a review on the q-star tour!
In my younger days I gamed the Ping two tone ball, until it was no longer available. When you tee it up put one color forward and one back; the pro told me to try and drive the back color into the front, that tip actually helped with the smash!!
I bought a sleeve to test out for myself. All around it was a good ball. Lining up putts and seeing the spin on other shots are great visual aids. Off the tee the multi colour didn’t distract me. If I line it up on the tee, I use it horizontally to a square face. Only complaint is the blue side is a little hard to see in the rough in the shadows… which with my game is bound to happen at least once or twice a round.
Ok so I split a dozen of the yellow/Orange with a buddy and I have to say, They were really good for me today. They fly off the driver and stick pretty good on approach shots and they are pretty cool to watch the ball spinning in flight. I am gonna give them another play tomorrow to see if the feelings hold after 2 rounds. I am a 4.9 Handicap and have been playing only Maxfli tour green matte for the last 2 seasons
these are my favorite balls, i love the feel of them from driving to putting. I line the putt with the split line but I line my drives up with the srixon logo
I bought a dozen of the blue/yellow. I did lose one inexplicably in the light rough just off the fairway, probably because the blue side was up. When teeing them up I have them where I only see the yellow. I like how when they're hit they kind of flicker which makes them a bit easier to see. And of course lining them up on the green is a benefit. All in all I really like them.
Played these today, and actually I really really really liked them. Needed 3 reallys there... However I lined them up sideways off tee where the line is pointing towards me. That way I could make sure I'm lining my club up squarely. Watching them fly is ultra satisfying. Nice and soft on and around the green. And lining it up is obviously great but better within 10-12 feet like Rick said. A little imagination out side of 12 feet was still good but I found myself maybe being to reliant on the line I was making with the ball rather than I reading the line itself. I wouldn't say my drives got any longer than usual. Typical distance for me, but felt like I was able to find the fairway more for some reason. Possibly the ball off the tee. I dunno I just worked for me. I'm a 12 handicapper and shot an 71 net today. I was pleased my score, and felt pretty confident using those balls. I'll be buying more for sure.
Greetings from New Brunswick Canada. I play Srixon golf balls and I must say I did like the Divide and it had it's pros and cons but I think I have ended up just liking the Q-Star Tour in white. I still have some Divide balls and I may actually tee one up tonight but not always my go to ball. Thanks for the great content.
I use the sweet spot finder machine to mark my ball. Still sell them on Amazon, have had mine for years. You can hit a driver and sometimes it will it end up lined up since it is perfectly balanced.
I've been playing with these Q-star tour balls but in regular white for a little while and I like them. Pretty good feel and spin and good distance. After your review of the divide version I think I'm just going to stick with the white ones though.

Have been using them since they came out Rick, without the negatives you mentioned. One of the best balls in the market for the price point, along with greatly improving your putting and chipping stats.
I've played at least 30 standard white Q Star Tour's this season (all of them have been lost 😒) and I honestly like them more than a Pro V1, mostly down to the price difference. They're about 25% cheaper than the top of the line Titleist or Taylormade and they're just as good. I was hoping for a positive review and feel reassured why I like these balls 😁
Great review!! I love Srixon balls and considered buying these. But to your point about having trouble lining up tee shots seeing both colors, this is a huge problem when the ball is in play since you're playing the ball as it lies, and enough to be a deal breaker for me.
I used this golf ball today it does help a lot with putting and also with chipping I didn't find it distracting at all. but I have to admit it does take a bit getting used to.
I’ve used them once or twice before and I actually line the ball up opposite to how he was on the tee. I do it perpendicular to the fairway rather than in line. It helped me a ton.
Been using these balls in the red yellow and I love them. Played 18 holes on Friday and lost 1 ball throughout the entire round. Also love the way they grab on the green
I've been playing with Srixon Q-Stars for the past two season so when I saw these come out this spring I had to buy a dozen of them. I love the line on the ball for putting, but unlike you, I use it off the tee. I love when I pure a drive right down the middle and you see the line is just perfectly straight thru the flight of the ball..I also found they are more difficult to find in deeper rough with miss hits too! Great ball tho! I have the Red/Yellow
I've played 3 rounds with these balls and I like them easy to follow in the air nice spin off my wedges and I like the way it looks when I line up a put.

Still playing the AD333 Tour and I like them, good feel, spin and distance but I'm soon out of them and will probably move to the replacement Q Star Tour. I play white balls and don't use any alignment aid, just clean it, put it down, read it and put a good stroke on it.
I would setup the ball square to target when using driver. It would provide me confidence to square the driver upon hit. I think I will look for those. The spin when chipping is nice!!!
I use the Divides for practice putting only, just to get a good read on how square I'm making contact. Given that a fair amount of my shots are not finding the fairway, I prefer searching for a solid color ball. Depending on the time of year and ground conditions, that's white (#1), yellow, and bright green (in the fall).
Hey Rick. Great review again. I wondered if and when you were going to evaluate these "new" balls. As always, you covered all of the questions I had on my mind regarding aligning these balls throughout the various golf shots. Very interesting. Since I've never really liked nonwhite balls, I don't think I need anymore colors and alignment thoughts going through my mind when hitting a golf shot. I'll stick with a line on a white ball, but I will try to hit a few of these on the range. Thanks
I have a dozen of the reds and blues each and a dozen orange ones coming tomorrow. I only use these for putting and chipping practice, or a par 3 where they cant be lost
So I found one of these balls while playing a round last weekend. On tee shots turn the line perpendicular to your shot, so one color forward and one back. I golf but maybe a few times per year if that, and aligning the ball this way allowed me to really focus my eyes on the back of the ball from the tee, and the front of the ball for irons/chips. I consistently drove about 30yrds further than normal for the 12 holes I played with this ball…until I lost it of course. FYI, blue and yellow is fairly hard to find
Nitro has had their "Eclipse" ball out for awhile. It is a basic 2pc, low compression ball, dual-colored ball. I have played them and they performed better than expected. I probably got them for 12-15USD/dz. They performed well and were great for the short gam: good for lining up putts and gave good feedback on chips/pitches. Only odd thing was the optical illusion of a wobbly ball flight. If you can get over them being a bit odd and totally different than what we typically use they are worth trying.\ On tee shots, you do have to tilt it a bit more towards you to give visual of being lined-up. . .
Think I have found my new golf ball. These look amazing! Would definitely benefit from the line up for putting but seems like it would be a visual aid for driver and to find them around the course easier.
I love the way they look and perhaps they would be easier to see as they enter the rough or the woods than a pure white ball. However on the green I have found even using balls that I mark I spend additional time fussing to make sure the mark lines up with my intended line. And then I hit it someplace else anyway since the line is never perfectly lined up.

I don't think viewers are going to see 6000 rpm backspin of a wedge. lol

I like to use two tone wiffle balls when I'm practicing. Makes it really easy to see how (not) straight I'm hitting them.
just got the Q-STAR TOUR regular and the divide are on sale at golftown for 26 Canadian a dozen ( 19.50 US ) good price great ball...end up ordering 6 dozen....cheers from Canada
Ever try aligning the ball the other way? I always struggled lining up straight at the hole but perpendicular to the hole has helped me vs. no alignment or aligning straight at the hole
Strangely that's exactly how I play these balls. I like the alignment perpendicular to the line of flight or putt.
Hello dear
I always thought when they rolled on the green slowly they were like a spinning lure used in fishing. Overall these balls are great, playing decently well as a 6 handicap with them. Can’t wait for the Z star version to come out.
I just bought the blue and yellow. Great feeling golf ball. I don't use the color divide to line it up I use the Srixon logo as my alignment aid. The biggest benefit for me is, the random colors remind me every shot, that this is a game. Probably silly but I enjoy walking up to the ball. For driver put it solid side up.
All of Ricks problems with the ball are due to him psyching himself out 😂
"If i wear a black hat, the idea is the sun will be absorbed into the hat and my vision will remain unaffected.. RIGHT, lets try it out and she how she goes"
and the depressing 2 piece inside lol
I do appreciate your views, love your perspective on the short ‘non-marking’ putts - didn’t see that one coming.
Still hoping to see a review of the Cleveland Putter line
Great review. I place a dot along the center of my golf ball (I play Kirkland Golf balls) as a focus point. I also place it right behind the imprinted name and I use that to line up my ball on putts. Placing a dot in a similar manner might be helpful no matter if you line this ball up with both colors visible or with one color. I'm planning on trying this just for the fun of it. I'll let you know how it goes!
I just bought a couple dozen of those. I love these golf balls. So easy to see in flight
I agree with your statement at 5:30. I don't line the ball up at the hole. I do line the line up at a 90 degree so I don't feel the pressure of being perfect.
think Rick needs to do a 9 hole challenge with these balls to see if he grows in confidence using these balls.
These nuts
I bought a dozen to try as I use the Q star anyway… you’re absolutely correct about the line messing with your head on the tap in putts! Lovely feel…, would prefer a glossy finish! Just a faze! 😎
I'd line it up on the tee with one face pointing the way I want to go. That's how I use the pro v 1 lines off the tee.
Eyeline golf impact ball liner is the best putter alignment ball marker in existence. Been using it since 2017. I make my own divide style practice balls with it too for my home putting mat
Rick’s school of putting: aim to miss and you’ll make it every time.
At the golf course I work at in Maine the hot seller this year has been the Srixon Q-Star Tour Divide
Almost got upset then thought you wasent going to cut it in half 🤣🤣phew! Great video again thanks
He cut it in half in the wrong direction though! 🤣
I use the orange/yellow in our Senior tournaments...I can see it much better, and i love the 72 compression. It works on putting as well...
You should be able to trust the line when hitting driver, even if it looks wonky? Feels like you don't just trust your own aim
"If I line it up correctly and I put a good stroke on it, it should go in."
Isn't that basically true for every putt regardless of the style of ball?
These are my go to. Love the blue and green. It's just visually satisfying watching the ball. Plus easy to find on those bad shots lol
With the driver I would place the ball with the line parallel to the driver face rather than perpendicular. That’s what I do with a standard ball with a line
I was thinking the exact same.
"Try and miss and apparently it will go in" 😂😂
Hahaha
Rick, this is such an entertaining video! Completely blows any kind of other ball reviews out of the water! Cheers!!
Rick: If it doesn't go in....
5:40
Gets it in twice, lmfao
At least he's putting better.
I got one in the pro shop at my all star match. I wish I got more. I absolutely love it. When I tee off you can at first see it spinning then you can’t tell it’s spinning but once it lands on the green you can see it roll. It looks awesome!
A 4 1/2 hour round of golf just became a 6 hour round by aligning drivers and putts on every hole.
Most people align putts and drives even without these balls....
@@Remob4 yes. I blade 1 irons at them…..
I think you always look at the top.
I used to love hitting those PING balls back in the day. Watching the colors change with the spin from high hit wedges was SOOO satisfying!!
In my younger days I gamed the Ping two tone ball, until it was no longer available. When you tee it up put one color forward and one back; the pro told me to try and drive the back color into the front, that tip actually helped with the smash!!
Used a green and black version on my golf trip last week and made more putts than I ever had before. Love them
I bought a sleeve to test out for myself.
I have been playing these for a month now and LOVE them!
Thanks for commenting and your time here really appreciate.

Picked a few of these up on a whim in the pro shop before a round and I love them.
That would make way more sense. Hope Rick sees your comment
Thanks for commenting and your time here really appreciate.

Played witj these and overall easier to fond. Blue side up can sometimes be difficult to find though . Yellow orange ones are fantastic
I have been using these balls for about 2 months and have never putted better. I’m a believer
I found 4 of these on my course and have been using them. I love them.
If you can get over them being a bit odd and totally different than what we typically use they are worth trying.\
On tee shots, you do have to tilt it a bit more towards you to give visual of being lined-up. . .
Played these a few times, Great bang for the buck. Thank you Rick
@Rick Shiels Golf
when you drive, why can't you align the ball little tilted towards the stance to avoid the confusion?
Think I have found my new golf ball. These look amazing! Would definitely benefit from the line up for putting but seems like it would be a visual aid for driver and to find them around the course easier.
I use the same marker for when my putting is horrible I’m glad you brought it up
These have another use - Grab a UV torch and they light up like a Christmas tree from 30+ yards away. Perfect for the last hole when the light fades 😂
Would you be better adding a marked line on one of the semi spheres for when hitting with the driver?
