The answer depends on what your needs are. As my family grew, I went from a 3rd gen 4Runner to a GX and now a LX. I still own all three and there is much more interior space in the LC200. Plus it can wheel except for the narrower trails. After owning a 4Runner and a GX, I wished I had picked the LC/LX in the beginning. It is just much beefier built underneath and it can take the extra mods without hesitation. The 4Runner's powertrain start to become a dog after mods. Even after I supercharged it. The GX is a good compromise but the components underneath is not all that tucked in like the LC. The GX underbody is not fully flat like the LC. The V8 is nice but not the brute that the big 5.7 V8 is. Everything is tucked in well in the LC so it makes fitting an entirely flat skid plate possible. The big V8 in the LC have plenty of reserve power to take the extra weight on. Plus you can supercharge it for even more power. Additionally, the LC's wider tracks make it more stable than the GX platform. The only downside to all these 4x4 is the fuel tank size and the fuel economy.
If I am soloing (or with one other person) remotely, I would take the 4Runner or the GX. I can easily camp in the back of either one (the 4Runner have the advantage of folding its seats completely flat instead of the GX/LC tumble forward style). The 4Runner and GX are more maneuverable in the city, narrow trails, and maybe slightly better highway fuel economy (depending on mods). If my family is coming along, I would take the LC over the GX (4Runner doesn't even count because mine only have 5 seats). Once loaded down, the LC will probably have equal or better fuel economy than my 4Runner and GX when they are loaded down. To top it off, the LC still have enough power reserve to tow. Off road, they all get the same crappy fuel economy.
Then there is the big price difference between the 4Runner, GX, and LC. My recommendation would be to buy a used LC/LX instead of a new 4Runner/GX. The cost is the same (or less) but you get a much better built machine (Note I said machine because I don't care much for newer infotainment (CarPlay/Android Auto) because even those get outdated in 5 years or so). As long as the frame, drivetrain, and powerplant is solid, you can always do aftermarket infotainment upgrades that beat even the best current infotainment system.
That’s not even a question... if you say 4R, you never owned a LC
Exactly. Whenever I see ppl on the forums or groups say 4R, they just don't know. Own brand new 4R and my 15 year old LCs better
I guess it depends on what you mean by better. I own a LC 200 and a 4th gen 4Runner and for the back roads where I live on the Canadian border in Idaho/WA the roads are so narrow that there's no way I'd go out wheeling in the LC. The 4Runner wins hands down. My 4Runner is much lighter and is a better trail runner than my LC 200. I love them both. I just know the limitations of both.
@@rameylewis7730 Totally agree with you. I take my 3rd gen 4Runner and GX for those narrower trails where my LX570 can't go.
I would choose the LC and I plan on buying one. It has more power, more flex, more room and legendary status.
👍👍
More flex in the suspension or more flex because it’s a Landcruiser 😀
LC for sure, such an iconic overlander
I've owned 3 different generation LC's. Currently I have the 200 series with 2" Old Man Emu. 305's on a stock TRD wheel is pretty extreme but love the stance. I hope to see more LC videos!
The Land Cruiser looks perfect. Fantastic job.
I have a 4Runner TRD Off Road, but my dream is to have a 200 Series! lifted of course, it looks so damn good
The 4Runner is an amazing truck, but the LC is in a whole different league. Going from a 4Runner to a LC is like going from a Kia Sportage to a 4Runner. Test drive them both. While the 4Runner is extremely capable, it feels like a toy compared to a 200 Series.
Usually not a fan of the 200 series but Jesus Christ this is a monster
Land Cruiser
Just wanna say OUTSTANDING ✅
Wish I had a spare 100k for a 200.
Those billet aluminum links and control arms are pretty and high-quality! My Donahoe Racing (before Icon took over) pieces are still going strong after 13 years of off-roading.
Do you know why Donahoe Racing was renamed Icon? Kreag Donahoe should be out of jail by now I think
200 anyday
Great job!!!
I've got a '13 LC... Love em.
That white one looks slightly high in the front to me.. but just barely if at all
Now he needs slee rock sliders underneath and LGA gas tank. And a rear bumper. 👍🏽
Very nice 👍
On that Land Cruiser, black out the chrome as well as the grill insert
Love that Land Cruiser!!!
Did you guys have to do anything with KDSS system or KDSS brackets on the Land Cruiser? I want you guys to do King shocks (stage 3) on my 2020 LC!
Nothing has to be done to the KDSS system for this size lift.
88ROTORS What about for a 3 inch lift, and can you guys do it?
BMC needed on the TRD Pro Bilstein setup with 285’s?
Saw a land cruiser just like it want one so bad now
Land Cruiser is sick!
Hi I’m have question that suspension for the 4runner is the same for the land cruisers?
Can you put the same LC setup onto an LX570?
Are you able to change out the lip bolts on the method wheels to black?
Yes, sold separately
Do you know where I can find the custom wheel center cap?
@88ROTORS looking for some help understanding 4runner suspension set up. Can you please clarify the difference between KDSS and Fox shocks? Why we pay extra for Fox Shocks over KDSS? Thank you.
Exactly the thing I'm looking for!!
KDSS runs the sway bars not the shocks
My heart says LC but my wallet says 4Runner
200 series for a true overlander.
how bad was the rubbing with the 305/65R18 tires on there?
On the LC after doing the left and spacers
did the tires rub?
They removed the front mud flaps.
No wheels spacer on LC200 right ?
Do you guys ever get problems on the Tacoma's with the needle bearing?? Respond plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Rarely ever does
I vote land cruiser for sure but the 4runner with TRD skid plates @ 11:24 tho..........................
A Land Cruiser is not in the conversation as a 4Runner.
except when the factory workers talk about them since.. their both made.. in.. the same factory...
@@noctilucent7396 LOL. Little boy, shouldn’t you be crying in a safe zone or kneeling for BLM?
Wish they were still triple locked
You can triple lock an LC 200, just have to do it aftermarket....
4Runner
Get rid of the chrome and black it out
And Air Suspension????????
What wheels are on the 200 series? where can i get them from?
Looks like the BBS Tundra TRD pro wheels. Find some used online or your nearest dealership for new if you cant find elseware
@@spencertressaadams8427 do they fit straight on or do you need to run spacers on them?
Toyota Land Cruiser LC 200 V8????
I do not choose, I wanna all both
*eeeeeem-you not eee-mooo 🤣
Did it rub?
The land cruiser I mean
Sorry, I totally forgot to mention that it did rub as we thought. A little bit of trimming and removal of the mudflaps took care of it.
What rims did you put on the Land Cruiser?
2020 Toyota TRD Pro wheels
That Land Cruiser owner seems like a total d-bag!
