@Les Norton For dealers its a cash cow. Bolting on a few grand in wheels and tires and the rolling it into the financing is a killer deal for THEM. People not saving money but convincing themselves they need a $70K pickup truck and are ok with 8 years of financing have completely changed the way dealers sell vehicles.

I just drove my 2021 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition off the lot 2 days ago. In less than 24 hours (yesterday) I put new tires on it and I ordered the rock sliders today. I'm not at $146,000 yet; I'm going to wait at least a year before I do the big stuff. They only did black and white for 2020 but they added silver and Magnetic Gray Metallic for 2021. Mine is Magnetic Grey Matallic. I heard they only made 100 in my color. They also added the option for a third row in 2021 (which is standard on the base model; with a third row delete being standard on the 2020 Heritage Edition). Mine has the third row. Assuming it's a 50/50 split on two or three rows in my color, mine is one of 50 in the country.

They even had it up on the lift and took some things apart and put back together. They couldn’t find anything wrong with it. I wasn’t really sure there was something wrong with either but felt it wasn’t right. So when I asked for the bill Christo said No Charge! I was Stunned and asked why. He said I didn’t fix anything so no charge. When I left that shop I felt guilty like I had stolen from him. Who does that? That truck is still on the road with nothing wrong with it. I can see why he’s gotten as big as they have. Best service ever.

For half that I could build just about any rig with all the comforts, tougher axles, diesel(better mpg), lighter, better articulation and infinitely rebuildable. New trucks are already pushing it with $80k price tags, $150k is just greed. Who is going to off road this underpowered tank ? For $40k, a nice driver with A/C, cruise and electric windows can be built reliably. This is insanity. 🤔
    * I took a totalled Earth Roamer $20k and slid a used F550 under the cab $25k. A repaint $7500 and i was on the road with it for 7 years (186,000miles). Oh, and it had a Cummins and manual trans. It can be done.

@@iulianpalade801 My friends and I growing up had the novel idea of having a #1 daily driver so we could get to work, a hotrod or 4x4 depending on likes and then a bike. When i was 16 I had 5 vehicles, all were completed and when I could find the right buyer, I'd sell one. After 2 years and multiple cars I saved enough to buy a new F150, my daily driver for 5 months until boot camp. When I rotated home, I had a new truck, a pocket full of cash and no bills. Barter and hard work is King ! Something most people today never learn.

@@jimshorts6751 Different class. A shitbox civic can be made to run 9s, but at the end of the day its not a lambo. When we shopped for a vehicle we wanted 1. luxury interior features 2. off road abilities 3. strong towing 4. unmatched reliability 5. body on frame 6. some rarity aspect 7. some prestige aspect. Only one other vehicle checked most of those boxed, a Mercedes G550 which has questionable reliability and starts at $40-50k more than the LC, nothing else really came close other than the sister vehicle LX570. Cost you a house? $150k can't buy you a studio apartment in my area. Also worth saying that how much $$ you make or spend has nothing to do with whether you use it or not. I know lawyers that jump their Raptors on the weekend, people with $100k+ spotsmobiles that have to break out the winch to get them out of shit on tough trails and so on. Four trim levels starting with what I call the "poverty pack". Retails for $59k US, and commonly used by police and other government departments as well as companies that need vehicles for the outback. Unlike the US model, ours have a diesel engine.

80 series is hands down the best all around land cruiser Toyota ever made. Those who doubt it never own one or even drive one. Beside the transmission the 80 series specs are almost exactly the same as a 2020 rubicon. The only difference are in the interior and modern gauges and radio. 80 series comes with awd triple lock differential solid axle. I cannot think of another vehicle in 2020 or for the last 10 yrs with those specs that cost less than 10k to own vs 50k, 60k and even now 145k. So my friend was right with 140k left I can put a 200 series Toyota v8 diesel in an 80 and out perform this Slee edition all day long.
