PH understands his image and dwan s handle on it too: he s very unlikely to be betting A hi or even AJ in that spot so when he bets and still gets check raised he knows the writing s on the wall with Qs full as he chopping at best as dwan s very unlikely to be bluffing him off of what s looking like a boat.

Drug use, drinking, not sleeping, horrible eating habits, and just an overall unhealthy lifestyle can do that. I don't know that Tom does that stuff, but a lot of people say he does or claim he has in the past. That combination and the stress of a high stakes poker life style can age you. Funny thing is is that he's looked older and worst in the past. It looks like he's been taking better care of himself now as opposed to before.

Whenever someone asks if poker is gambling or skill, show them these last 9 NLHU matches.
Fact is, if this format holds for the next 25 years, no one will ever go 8-1 over 9 NLHU live televised matches at these stakes, ever again.
Imagine if the WR holder for Jeopardy was from the 1st episode? The only conclusion one could make would be that relatively speaking, that person, at that time was unquestionably the smartest player ever to compete.

The Queen fold is easier than the tens to be honest. Correct call with tens I think. Tom wouldn’t barely ever bluff Phil there. I think dwan is better couldn’t have possibly ran much colder this match, brutal headsup run outs for him. But Phil does have that white magic I can’t lie

Phil played okay here but also so incredibly amateur plays. The check when he had the straight flush on a 5 straight board is such a minus EV play. Dwan never going to bluff that river and a great spot for PH to bet big and potentially get called by someone Dwan playing the board. Just such a waste of a monster hand.
