      It's funny how SNCF recovered these locomotives.
      Here in Portugal the railway company CP did the same: took those Alsthom locos back from the junkyard and gave them new life in recent electrified lines.
      And they do still work perfectly!

    To help understand the protests from what I've seen on the news: Rail employees across SNCFs network have been in some of the longest-running strikes France has seen due to proposed privatization efforts by the Macron government and lack of interest in services for much of the country outside the established corridors. Ouigo being a likely option for privatization (like Railjet) has drawn a lot of ire from union supporters, which is probably why they're there in front of the station.

I even saw tickets for 9,90€ from Paris to Marseille 3h05m duration 😃 much love from Hungary ❤️🇭🇺 Travelling with tgv was my dream since the age of 5... Now i am 21 I really love Ouigo colors. Those pink and light blue are very calm. Even the water in the toilet is blue too 😂

    I live in Japan, and I am jealous.
    Nantes to Paris Bercy is about 50 km longer than Tokyo to Nagoya which is 1.5 hours by Shinkansen…but if we want to travel on a train other than Shinkansen we will be in for a trek of at least 6 hours, on at least 5 TER equivalents.
    And it will cost about JPY 5,500 or USD 45.

    16 bike spaces in an 8-car train. Brilliant. I write European cycling guide books and have been concerned lately by the reducing provision of cycle spaces on French TGV trains (removal of all cycle spaces on Lyria, no cycle spaces on new InOui TGV Sud Duplex units, no cycle spaces on any OuiGo service). In particular the old style TGVs (with 4 cycle spaces per unit) that used to run twice a day from Paris to Avignon and back have been replaced with Duplex sets with no bike provision. The only remaining way to travel from Paris to the South of France with a bike has been to use a TER train from Bercy to Lyon and another TER on to Marseille - a very slow way of travel. The OuiGo classique is the first OuiGo service with bike spaces which at €10 are cheaper than InOui (€15), that is if you can find an InOui set with bike provision. And the new OuiGo classique service to Lyon will bring cycle carriage back to an important main line route.

      And I heard that the Lyon-Marseille TER route will be split in 2 at Valence. Indeed, Ouigo classique will make it much faster to use classic trains, and thus much easier. Once the RCR TERs are taken OOS between Paris and Lyon I'll definitely take the ouigo classique, but until then I will continue hopping in the compartmentalized cab cars 😎

    I like it. Although the colour scheme is a bit... pink. I do not mind having no power outlets - I never need to charge anything during my train rides (I read a book, watch the scenery outside or sleep). For me, this seems to be the perfect non-highspeed train. And I LOVE the engine. It is the most beautiful electric locomotive besides the BR103.

      I think the output is important, It should be a basic service.
      It's a 4 hour travel (without counting the time spend on travelling there, waiting for the train, waiting at the queue...people may spend 2 hours or more).
      People may have medium to low battery. People may want to work, to play games, to see videos on UA-cam, to distract their children, etc.

      The main issue is that power sockets are provided in some coaches and not others. You might be assigned a seat with a power socket you don't need, whilst someone else who might make use of them is assigned a seat in a coach that doesn't have them. You pay the same for your ticket though and have no option to select.

      I'm sorry for not being able to write in french, but I totally agree. Tout a fait (indeed). That's been the ongoing problem in France, everything is centralized for Paris first and the rest after. Tout est axe sur Paris dabord et le reste apres. Take into consideration the Marseilles Nice line. Today's TGV rides 20 km/h slower than 30 years ago due to no/poor infrastructure maintenance.

    there is something that makes me happy about this. That is that even if corail is already 50 y/o more or less the fact that they made a brand new service with those cars, that they are present in a lot of services around the country makes me think that they are making an effort to preserve them as long as possible (unlike other countries). Add also recent modifications like the renewing of the corail reversible units made in 2008. And some refurbishments as well. Taking all of this, hopfully they will be with us for quite a while more.
    And don't get me wrong, modern trains like Regiolis Regio2n or Coradia Liner are not bad at all, but there is something about corail they can't replicate if you know what i mean.

    Great trip. SNCF doing a great job, making classic train great again with rebranding them on Low cost Classic Train service to compete with road transportation. But sadly, their preparation for this concept looks like in a hurry. I'm curious, can the Private/Commercial operator like Flixtrain can entered in France for Commercial service? Or all of Train Transportation in France monopolised?

    It’s a shame that the seat covers were not in the same colours as the exterior and likewise with the provision of power sockets. A decent interior would’ve made it bright and zingy! Also some form of at seat catering on the part of SNCF/Ouigo would be a welcome development on this service. Perhaps this is something that SNCF will consider by adding a catering car to the consist in the future?

    The early days of Flixtrain were like this - you can see this in the model train world - they didn't even have the bright green exterior with the black window band - they were makeshift looking collections of several different UIC cars. Not refurbished, no Wifi... the feeling was that of the mid 80s. Now they are all refurbished, have a nice wood-finish interior, all seats are (looking) new, WiFi and nice exterior. Maybe the SNCF didn't want to throw money away and is waiting for the services to be accepted and then will refurbish everything but I agree - you can't call a service "2nd class only" and then have some cars without AC and without power outlets. It's 2022. We all have devices we need to charge and if the trip is 4h instead of 2h, a lot of devices will drain to almost empty on the way. This is an absolute embarrassment. It would've been better of NO ONE had had a power outlet if you ask me instead of just SOME. Even if it had been an extra you'd have to pay for it would've been better. But this is just laughing in the customers' faces. It's disrespectful.

    Having a dedicated passenger railline with discounted prices here in the U.S would be the only way to get people out of their cars.
    Sure we can get high speed rail in some places, but most railroad lines here share with freight cars, which have priority. I'm not sure that is why train travel is more expensive than plane travel or car travel across country, and I think it's alot better overall than car or plane. The cost and the time factor could be improved if ever cars would be less on overburdened highways.
    Last year I took a train trip of a similar distance here in the western U.S., it took 2 trains and a bus to get to destination, cost $200 for coach seat (non-sleeper) without access to shower on 36-hour trip total. So yeah, some places have got the infrastructure in place already. Lucky dogs

    SNCF needs to hire more coach cleaners for all services in general, including TGV is sometimes dirty even in first.
    Ouigo service needs power outlets and fast wifi, new LED Lighting too, the current yellow lighting looks horribly dated.

    Overall I'm satisfied with this OUIgo Vitesse the fare, speed and 4hrs 08mins Nantes- Paris. Max €30 I will not complaint comparison to TGV or TER takes shorter by 2 over hrs. Bike room @ €10 is unbelievable. So it's even better than driving about 8hrs long with toll routes. Flixbus about over 6hrs. One should live without Outlets since you decide to take this 50yrs old train. The cushions aren't that bad. Foot-leg space is OK. Cheap things gives you less for money. Its even better to enjoy countryside views with 160km/h. In 3rd world countries sitting on old train is beyond what you get on this OUIgo Vitesse. The pilot cockpit head looks funny like some cartoons but it looks solid. Paris Bercy-Nantes with this is completely perfect. Something I'm looking forward soon. In Suisse trains it will cost lot more but service and quality is totally different. That means cheaper

    I think the livery is not bad but not that good either, bright pink works better with mixing it with dark colours so it looks cool and more classy. For example, look up "Kessel Racing Iron dames Ferrari 488" - now that's incredible livery although on a race car (that raced at Le Mans 24h by the way) instead of train. But anyways, get the idea I guess.
    Lack of power outlets in some coaches can be a bit of an annoyance especially on such long trip. Someone may once travel in a coach that has one and next trip don't worry about charging phone before trip assuming there will be one.. but ending up in a coach without power outlets.

At least the windows are clean, the seats are all functional and there's no horrible graffiti scrawled over everything. Last time I had to take a local train here, only one coach of fifteen was clean and functional. Others were painted, had cracked windows and seats missing because someone had lit them on fire, slashed the covers or left questionable stains on them.

    • @alexstuart1849
      @alexstuart1849 2 роки тому

      Slow french trains on branch lines also go really slowly. When branch lines are in bad shape and aren't being refurbished there are sometimes absurd speed limits on certain sections. Some mountainous singletrack branch lines, even well maintained, are limited to 80kph if i am not mistaken.

    • @georgepins9387
      @georgepins9387 2 роки тому

      @@alexstuart1849 Our perspectives are obviously different. 80kph, about 50mph to me, is about as fast as I might care to go on a mountainous single track branch line. Slow would be half of that. That a rail option exists at all on most branch lines is long gone in the US.

    • @alexstuart1849
      @alexstuart1849 2 роки тому

      @@georgepins9387 on some lines I think slow orders can go down to like 30-40kph. Usually these lines are shutdown soon after, like Oyonnax-St Claude in the Jura for example. As a half Canadian half French guy living in Canada, I know all too well what you mean. My Father grew up in Nova Scotia, where a CP, then VIA RDC service ran until 1990 and was cut in the VIA cuts. That service ran pretty well up until the cuts, but there were multiple slow orders on bridges and such. That line was profitable under VIA, as were most in the Maritimes, but was cut due to foolish conservative policies. In Canada though, I would argue that long distance branch line service like the train to Churchill and the train to Senneterre are what is preventing VIA to be competitive nowadays. VIA is being forced to run this unprofitable service and not able to make the investments where it would make sense, like between Calgary and Edmonton for example. Amtrak faces a similar issue, but it looks like they are improving a bit (Amtrak 2035) but still cling on to a false view of Intercity service. True Corridor IC service between big cities like Tampa and Miami for example should be every hour at minimum and in that case in particular more like every half hour or less... When Amtrak says it will add one or two long distance slow trains a day, it won't attract ridership. I might try a train trip from Montreal to Chicago in a few weeks. The border crossing at Windsor/Detroit will be a hasstle but I want to try haha...

    • @georgepins9387
      @georgepins9387 2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure of this legally, but aren't the Churchill and Senneterre trains considered "remote services" which are difficult to access otherwise, and are specially subsidized outside of VIA's regular budget?
