- If you’re looking for things to do in Dubrovnik than this vlog is for you. We start off by exploring Fort Lovrijenac or St. Lawrence Fortress, just outside the walls of the city. After that we make our way inside the walls of the city through the Pile Gate to Stradun, the main pedestrian street inside the walls. After wandering awhile we come across a bar with the best view Buza Bar to have some Croatian beer. Finally max we walk fully around the Dubrovnik city walls to take in the incredible views over the city and the Adriatic.

Dubrovnik:
Dubrovnik is a stunningly intact walled city on the Adriatic Sea coast of the extreme south of Croatia. Although its population barely exceeds 40,000, it's one of the most prominent tourist resorts of the Mediterranean and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.
Dubrovnik is both a seaport and the centre of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Its population was 42,615 inhabitants according to census data from 2011. Dubrovnik is nicknamed "Pearl of the Adriatic". Tourism is the most important industry in Dubrovnik. The city of Dubrovnik (Latin: Ragusa) was built on maritime trade. In the Middle Ages it became the only city-state in the Adriatic to rival Venice. Supported by its wealth and skilled diplomacy, the city achieved a remarkable level of development during the 15th and 16th centuries. Furthermore, Dubrovnik was one of the centres of the development of the Croatian language and literature, home to many notable poets, playwrights, painters, mathematicians, physicists and other scholars.

Lovrijenac Fort, Dubrovnik: goo.gl/g2BJxK
The people of Dubrovnik built the fort in order to protect the western sea access to the City, particularly from the Venetian fleet. The construction began in 1018 and was completed in the 16th century. The thickness of the walls facing the sea is between 4 and 12 metres. Above the entrance is an inscription in Latin language: NON BENE PRO TOTO LIBERTAS VENDITUR AURO (Freedom is not sold for all the gold of the world). The fort houses a chapel of St. Lawrence, and its courtyard with a cistern serves as a magical venue for theatrical performances. A large number of plays has been performed here within the Dubrovnik Summer Festival programme. Compared with Elsinore, Lovrijenac Fort has become the perfect world famous setting for Shakespeares Hamlet. The fort is opened for visitors.
Pile Gate, Dubrovnik: goo.gl/CskFdo
The natural starting point to any visit to Dubrovnik, this fabulous city gate was built in 1537. While crossing the drawbridge, imagine that this was once lifted every evening, the gate closed and the key handed to the rector. Notice the statue of St Blaise, the city’s patron saint, set in a niche over the Renaissance arch.
Stradun, Dubrovnik: goo.gl/7A521J
Stradun (or officially ‘Placa’) is the main street in Dubrovnik Old Town. It divides the Old town (part of Dubrovnik built within medieval walls) on two, more or less, equal parts - northern and southern. Stradun is stretched from Pile Gate (western entrance to the old town) to the Old Town’s port. It used to be a channel that divided small island on which Dubrovnik was built from the mainland. Later on, the channel was filled to create the main town’s street.

another awesome video; great job guys!!
👊🙌😄 Glad you enjoyed it Taki! Have you been to Dubrovnik? - T
I have not; my primary go to is Greece due to family. I have been to Rome, it was wonderful!! Thanks to you guys, Dubrovnik and Poland in general are high up on my list!!
You can't go wrong with Croatia or Poland. These countries are some of our favourites! Greece is on our wish list for this year actually. Let's see if we can get there! - Trevor
Delightful Travellers sounds great! Looking forward to you making me homesick with a great video!!
Love the City of Dubrovnik, my Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles are all from there as well. One day I will go see it for myself. Oh....Love the red Ray Ban's btw. ; )
Dubrovnik is unique, beautiful, historic and clean. It felt safe and secure. Crime levels are very low to non existent. Truly, the city is flooded with restaurants which are expensive. I don’t believe the wages for staff are very high though. The choice of dishes is somewhat limited with steak and fish seeming to predominate on most menus. However, we didn’t have a mediocre meal in our entire stay and the food always arrived hot. We stayed for 2 weeks in the old city (end of August to mid September 2018). The weather was hot but too many of the Croatians were cool to being downright rude. A bit like Paris. Most of the Mediterranean tiled rooftops, stark orange in colour, originate from Italy and are replacements for war damage. Croatia does not have traditional roof tile manufacturers any more. The pre war original roof tiles are a grey brown in colour. A guide told us that Dubrovnik is mainly a tourist attraction and most of the property is owned by non domicile foreigners. Predictably, this prices most of the nationals out at c.€6000 per square metre. Out of the tourist season, the population plateaus around 500 to 800 mark! Only one bar and supermarket remain open during this time, we were told.
In season, the city is crowded and becomes even more so when the cruise ships arrive. We made a number of organised trips out from Dubrovnik and these are a must if you are staying a while. The Mostar Bridge is a not to be missed, together with one of the island tours.
One tip: Don’t change money at the exchanges. Use the banks on the Stradun. They unusually give a much better rate!
Another tip: buy a tourist card for entry to various sights. These come in 1., 3., or 7. days duration. Included is entry onto the wall. From memory a 7 day card was K350. Just over 2 wall tickets alone. You can also get 10% off some restaurant bills on production of this.
Would we go again. You bet!
Such great tips Paul. I hope others read these as they are all so good. - Trevor

Hey guys, I just discovered you a couple of days ago and when I saw this exquisite city and country, which I want to visit so bad, I thought OOOOMMMMGGGG! It is so, so exquisite, especially the water. I first saw an awesome video of it many years ago by Rudy Maxa and what he showed and focused on was the exquisite water. The many different hues and shades of it. Magic! And then on top of that is the magnificent and majestic old town fort and city walls.. Unbelievable! Thank you for such a beautiful video. You're a great couple and Ana is so beautiful. Such an easy going and sweet lady.
We loved Dubrovnik. It's such a magical city isn't it? Thanks for commenting Mibello - Anna

we went to croatia last year and its ruined us for anywhere else
I live north of Zagreb. I've never been to Dubrovnik. Maybe I'll check the city in winter. In tourist season its just too much people around and the prices are astronomical.
I can't imagine how many people are there in July and August. We hooked it a little earlier so it great. - Anna
How did you get around from city to city?
On this trip we did lots of ferries. Also, we rented a car to go into Montenegro. - Anna
