I think collectors dont have problem with other collectors buying multiple figures of the same But the problem is those dammn scalpers that resell the figures to insane prices on secondary Market

I’ve always believed that the onus is on the manufacturer and the retailer to afford customers the opportunity to buy what they please. I went through a five year stretch back in the early 2000s where it simply wasn’t feasible for me to hunt figures at retail. I had no problem with paying a scalper to drive all over town at the crack of dawn, burn gas, put miles on their vehicle, deal with idiot drivers, pick up a figure for me, and ship it to my door. I considered the markup a service charge.
There is nothing wrong Bones. You are a customizer you are making art. So if you are happy and you are not doing any harm to others keep collecting. At the end it’s just toys not food. People will not die because they don’t have a figure.
Scalping has gone down a lot in my area just because of the shelf prices going up so much.if people won't pay $25-$35 bucks they aren't going to pay $45-60 on eBay.If anybody wants extras just keep checking Ross and Ollie's,they get stuff year round.
Having three makes sense how you do it. It doesn’t make sense to just have in box collection, since you can just print photos of them and save lots of money and space. If you plan to sell them years down the line, I understand to get in box. It’s just one of each for me. I have a few of 5he same but with or without unmasked head. If someone buys a lot to sell the, but they go down to $10 I’d suggest to return it where you got it and you may be able to get what you paid for it back.
Reason why I have a lot of inbox figures is because I love finding cool vintage figures online and thrift shops that are still in box, it’s like a time capsule , I feel like if I have some modern mint in box figures 20 years from now it’ll be a cool memory and collectible for myself personally. And if my kids ever get into figures I can pass it on to them.
I mean, if you're buying like 20 of the thing just to resell at inflated prices, that's definitely a problem. Otherwise, people can do what they want. I personally prefer not to have multiple figures, I'm not a mint in box/bag collector and also my customs are usually of characters that I don't think toy companies will ever make.

I remember when customizers bought up every single Archangel for the blank body to customize and created artificial scarcity. They're just as bad as scalpers and those that buy multiples to keep/resell later. I hope manufactures keep that in mind so enough is produced to meet demands and distribution is better.

Certain figures I buy two of for the purpose of customizing. Often I am shopping for other collectors as well as my self and purchase multiples under those circumstances but they pay what I paid, not a cent more.

My biggest problem is scalpers; they show up at the stores when they open and some even have buddies who put them aside for the scalper. Scalpers are also the ones who snap up ridiculous amounts of preorders. I have a reeeal problem with this. I am handicapped and can't drive. I also rely on a disability income. i can basically only get out of the house maybe once every two weeks. So why should I hunt, when I know they are probably all sold out. You are a great reviewer and customizer. I appreciate that you don't re-sell figures. Keep doing what you do and I'll keep watching!
I only have a select number of toys that I bought twice since it liked it so much and just like you, I still like to go to the actual toy stores despite online shopping being a thing since I can inspect the product itself before purchasing it. The only issue about buying multiple pieces of the same toy in general is if that person's a scalper. Otherwise if it's only for your collection and customization, go for it. Regarding people's opinions about how you should collect, why should they care and who are they to dictate your preferences? It's your life & money and how you spend it on toys is up to you.

FCK it Bro!!! The issue will always be those that do it for scalping. How every stores should have maximum quantity on any item not only Action figures. But for them is a sale there is no way they can estimate how many items are going to sale at any giving time. That is why they call it hunting.
Buying and flipping toys is not a great business especially right now where action figures retail prices has gone through the roof and the quality and amount of accessories has decrease in my opinion. It just doesn't justify the price increase.
No one would feel bad about buying multiples of anything if products were made to meet the demand. Almost everything I’m interested in sells out fast and never restocks. Even army builders. As it stands, walking into a target and buying the three of anything they have on the shelf is pretty much guaranteeing that 2 other people aren’t gonna get the figure they want. In my area I tend to see figures I want once and if I don’t grab it then, I’ll prob never see it again. There’s tons of legitimate reasons to buy multiples of a figure that don’t involve scalping and folks shouldn’t be having this internal dialogue over something so basic.

And I’m not even getting into the MOC part of collecting. Sometimes you army build a figure. Sometimes you want to customize a figure, but have one that is stock. Sometimes, you want different display options-like having multiple figures fighting. It’s when you buy multiple figures with the clear intention of selling them. If you sell them anyway down the road because you end up outgrowing that part of your collection or just collecting in general, it’s whatever. But buying them to store them in a room and wait for the prices to go up…yeah, that’s scummy in my book. Like I said though-absolutely nothing wrong most of the time buying multiple figures. I wouldn’t worry about it. I have five and six of the same Goku and Vegeta figures for display purposes.

I say yes but I’m sure I’m in the minority. I follow the Mcfarlane sub Reddit and I can’t tell you the countless times I’ll see someone sad because a figure sold out and at the same time I’ll see people on the page talk about their 2-5 extra figures they bought and it makes me feel bad for the people that miss out because there isn’t a 1-2 figure limit on websites. I think one is enough, two I can see if you want one in the Box(still think it’s dumb because all the boxes look the same). Three if you want one to customize is MAYBE an alright reason ( but if you feel the need to customize and make the figure better, then why keep an extra standard release if it’s inferior to the custom?) but anything beyond that is just hoarder mentality. 👎🏽 it’s not illegal but it’s just plain dumb to me to have more than one when all it does is drive up the price & lessens the chance for someone to get one…just one figure.
Then buy it online. There’s an infinite supply online. It isnt greedy, he uses two for his collection and the rest for customs. It’s common practice in that world.
Toy gatekeepers trying to tell others how to collect is just insane to me. The way I see it is if there's a set time and date a figure releases, it's fair game to buy whatever you want. I've missed out on figures and it sucks but that's collecting in the internet preorder days. I'll buy multiples if there's a platinum chases figure sometimes that I'm after. People that try to shame others rubs me the wrong way. Everyone hates scalpers, so at least we can all somewhat agree on that
Personally I think buying multiple figures is fine as long as the goal isn't just to deep it and trying to flip the price to be 3x what it was like I don't always buy more than 2 unless I buy another for a custom but usually I buy 1 to open and put on the shelf and one to put on the wall in box but I hate scalpers I think its wrong
I Army Build! That's how I finally got some Ninjas for League of Assassins. That's how I got a Thanos Army, a Kang Army, a Kingpin Organization, etc. I normally try to keep Duplicates to a minimum so I don't buy Spider-Man or Batman that I don't need. But I will buy Black Series Stormtroopers and Cobra Troopers!
I don't get to build as much as I like. I couldn't get any Cobra Troopers or Infintry, so I'm having to use Cobra Officers. So far only 16. My Hydra is looking pretty good; 4 Enforcers 4 Shock Troopers Bob 20 Regular Hydra 3 Female Hydra 1 Glider Trooper AIM is less; 2 Shock Troopers 12 AIM Troopers 1 Specialist For Kang Army I'm using Warhammer Armored Figures and Black Series Mandalorians as they are low level Iron Man!
I bought two extra Lobo figures when they came out, one is still in the box when I get my Lobo on his space hog I'm going to have all three heads displayed, I figured we would get the spacehog one day and I was praying we would get extra heads for Lobo sometimes you gamble and it pays off sometimes it don't lol
People need to mind their own business. If I wanted to buy 527 of any figure then that’s my concern. Most collectors buy online, that’s what a person needs to do if they want one. It isnt greedy nor nonsense nor hoarding nor anything else. Star Wars army builders have entire true armies of clones and/or Stormtroopers composed of hundreds of figures. They are amazing to study and beautiful. At the end of the day, you need parts to make customs and this is how you go about getting them. People need to calm down and stop trying to mind other folks’ business. Worry about you and keep your opinions to yourself. He asked for them but some of the responses are plain insane. Dont worry about what people think. They obviously dont get it and want to attack someone on the internet via anonymity.

There's nothing wrong with buying multiple figures. Its only the fault of the collectors that don't get the figures they want (most of the time) because they wait till the figure is old before they try to get it. Everyone is capable of preordering the figures or buying them online. I just laugh when people cry about not finding the figures in stores and you can literally get them anywhere online.
I keep buying a.c. 1000 and rebirth supermans because I keep kitbashing them together and I'm left without a regular version and I'm about to do it again when my mullet superman arrives!

This is the thing my dude buying multiples it's ok depending on the situation I ama customizer myself so. I do buy multiples n of. Certain figures sometimes if those figures have. Parts that I need.. Like you mention ....some other people. Like you like to have 1 in box and 1 loose. Nothing wrong with that either .... What I don't like. Are those people going to stores. And buying. All the most popular figures from stores. And sell them. To us double or triple the price on Internet that is not fair 😡
Nothing wrong with purchasing multiples in my opinion. I generally just buy one, though I do have a couple talons and a couple Platinum figures that I have for trade fodder. I do buy similar figures that have a head sculpt change or even color variations. My reasoning in is that a typically 3d printed paint head sculpt on the secondary market usually sells and ships for around $30 usd. So paying $20-$30 sames me time and usually money. I currently in box collect at the moment as it helps me organize my collection and allows for me to open and display at a later time. Might sound weird but I have so much on shelves currently and having dust or something random occur in the area of the collection (rogue bird that flew into the house and landed on a shelf) that disrupts the appearance or causes something to fall and break. Have I sold in the past sure. Have I bought for fellow collector friends that asked, yep. Is it my money and time, of course. So unless someone else is paying my bills or has created a contract that I signed, I'm not giving a flying fig. I bought my house on gold coins that I purchased and resold. Did it work out for me, yep. Did it provide for my family, yep. Does it suck that a $40 retail item gets to the price of $200, sure does. But it's that market that allows that to happen. As it was stated, you might take a loss, or you could gain. I bought a bunch of the Transformer bumblebee concept Camaro figure when they came out. I think it was something like $9.99. I sold that figure for no less than $125 each. That money put food on my table when my wife lost her job to become disabled and I was working 60-70+ hours a week to pay for medical. No shame. You never know what others are going through so I don't judge. You want 50 cobra soldiers, then do it. You want Strawberry Shortcake next to your Marvel Legends, cool on you. We have one life and the nursing home is not going to allow your collection to fill up a room, so enjoy it all while you can, help each other, and live life to it's fullest. 😊

I say yes but I’m sure I’m in the minority. I follow the Mcfarlane sub Reddit and I can’t tell you the countless times I’ll see someone sad because a figure sold out and at the same time I’ll see people on the page talk about their 2-5 extra figures they bought and it makes me feel bad for the people that miss out because there isn’t a 1-2 figure limit on websites. I think one is enough, two I can see if you want one in the Box(still think it’s dumb because all the boxes look the same). Three if you want one to customize is MAYBE an alright reason ( but if you feel the need to customize and make the figure better, then why keep an extra standard release if it’s inferior to the custom?) but anything beyond that is just hoarder mentality. 👎🏽 it’s not illegal but it’s just plain dumb to me to have more than one when all it does is drive up the price & lessens the chance for someone to get one…just one figure.
Then buy it online. There’s an infinite supply online. It isnt greedy, he uses two for his collection and the rest for customs. It’s common practice in that world.

Toy gatekeepers trying to tell others how to collect is just insane to me. The way I see it is if there's a set time and date a figure releases, it's fair game to buy whatever you want. I've missed out on figures and it sucks but that's collecting in the internet preorder days. I'll buy multiples if there's a platinum chases figure sometimes that I'm after. People that try to shame others rubs me the wrong way. Everyone hates scalpers, so at least we can all somewhat agree on that

Personally I think buying multiple figures is fine as long as the goal isn't just to deep it and trying to flip the price to be 3x what it was like I don't always buy more than 2 unless I buy another for a custom but usually I buy 1 to open and put on the shelf and one to put on the wall in box but I hate scalpers I think its wrong
I'm doing it in a cool and calm way... Just the right amount of figures... Scalping sure seems like a full-time headache...😆😆👍💀
I will always buy 2 of the same figure IF I love the character and want to keep one mint in box . As the cool kids say one to rock and one to stock 💪💀

I Army Build! That's how I finally got some Ninjas for League of Assassins. That's how I got a Thanos Army, a Kang Army, a Kingpin Organization, etc. I normally try to keep Duplicates to a minimum so I don't buy Spider-Man or Batman that I don't need. But I will buy Black Series Stormtroopers and Cobra Troopers!

I bought two extra Lobo figures when they came out, one is still in the box when I get my Lobo on his space hog I'm going to have all three heads displayed, I figured we would get the spacehog one day and I was praying we would get extra heads for Lobo sometimes you gamble and it pays off sometimes it don't lol

People need to mind their own business. If I wanted to buy 527 of any figure then that’s my concern. Most collectors buy online, that’s what a person needs to do if they want one.
It isnt greedy nor nonsense nor hoarding nor anything else. Star Wars army builders have entire true armies of clones and/or Stormtroopers composed of hundreds of figures. They are amazing to study and beautiful.
At the end of the day, you need parts to make customs and this is how you go about getting them. People need to calm down and stop trying to mind other folks’ business. Worry about you and keep your opinions to yourself. He asked for them but some of the responses are plain insane.

There's nothing wrong with buying multiple figures. Its only the fault of the collectors that don't get the figures they want (most of the time) because they wait till the figure is old before they try to get it. Everyone is capable of preordering the figures or buying them online. I just laugh when people cry about not finding the figures in stores and you can literally get them anywhere online.

Customization. For God’s sake it makes total sense. Every customizer does thus. Hardcore customizers have hundreds of parts.

This is the thing my dude buying multiples it's ok depending on the situation I ama customizer myself so. I do buy multiples n of. Certain figures sometimes if those figures have. Parts that I need.. Like you mention ....some other people. Like you like to have 1 in box and 1 loose. Nothing wrong with that either .... What I don't like. Are those people going to stores. And buying. All the most popular figures from stores. And sell them. To us double or triple the price on Internet that is not fair 😡
Nothing wrong with purchasing multiples in my opinion.
I generally just buy one, though I do have a couple talons and a couple Platinum figures that I have for trade fodder.
I do buy similar figures that have a head sculpt change or even color variations. My reasoning in is that a typically 3d printed paint head sculpt on the secondary market usually sells and ships for around $30 usd. So paying $20-$30 sames me time and usually money.
I currently in box collect at the moment as it helps me organize my collection and allows for me to open and display at a later time. Might sound weird but I have so much on shelves currently and having dust or something random occur in the area of the collection (rogue bird that flew into the house and landed on a shelf) that disrupts the appearance or causes something to fall and break.
Have I sold in the past sure. Have I bought for fellow collector friends that asked, yep. Is it my money and time, of course. So unless someone else is paying my bills or has created a contract that I signed, I'm not giving a flying fig.
I bought my house on gold coins that I purchased and resold. Did it work out for me, yep. Did it provide for my family, yep. Does it suck that a $40 retail item gets to the price of $200, sure does. But it's that market that allows that to happen.
As it was stated, you might take a loss, or you could gain. I bought a bunch of the Transformer bumblebee concept Camaro figure when they came out. I think it was something like $9.99. I sold that figure for no less than $125 each. That money put food on my table when my wife lost her job to become disabled and I was working 60-70+ hours a week to pay for medical. No shame.
You never know what others are going through so I don't judge. You want 50 cobra soldiers, then do it. You want Strawberry Shortcake next to your Marvel Legends, cool on you.
We have one life and the nursing home is not going to allow your collection to fill up a room, so enjoy it all while you can, help each other, and live life to it's fullest. 😊
