The descendants kind of remind me of the morlocks from "The Time Machine". Thanks for bringing us this classic with your amazing voice and narration skills, Mr. Jiry!
I absolutely concur with him Mr. Jiry., though I am inclined more toward I am Legend. (Coooome OUT NEVILLE!) I love the original AND the version Omega Man w/Charlton Heston)(who, brag brag brag, I got to meet and talk to about 35 years ago!)
One of the Lovecraft tales I hadn't read, so that made it an extra special narration for me to hear... I almost like it more than ' The Call of Cthulhu '! On an vaguely related side note of little consequence, due to some of the content in this e.g. ' the degeneration of mammalians ' and the reference to ' mongrels ', I understand why some people retrospectively view Lovecraft as a racist, however, I disagree with that view... I simply believe that the understandings of genetics and inheritance were not as advanced in their progress as in 2014 (obviously haha!) and that Lovecraft was simply blending the understandings of his time with supernatural imaginings, in order to evoke the utmost horror... But that's just a thought That aside, brilliant as always Otis. Why you were not inducted into the Voice Hall of Fame is beyond my grasp 😉
Shadanza Bonanza Thank you for the kind words. I didn't know there WAS a Voice Hall of Fame :) I'm happy to hear you enjoy my narrations though. Bless you.
Otis Jiry's Creepypasta Crypt You're very welcome Otis :) When I said Voice Hall of Fame, I kinda just meant that you deserve more recognition for your talent in my opinion.
No, he was racist. Ever read "Re-animator"? Check out his description for a black street boxer who had died during a match and was used by Herbert West for his experiments. Lovecraft feared different people.
TheBlues32 I'll be honest... as much as I have read by him, there's still loads I have yet to, so naturally I haven't come across the racism many such as yourself mention (interestingly, a friend of a friend did her final essay for university on this very topic and apparently found a good case for him being xenophobic). I'll cover more ground and then see if my opinion is changed :)
He was a well known racist is all I hear lately but he is more harsh on these other white people in this story. It's almost comical how insulting the descriptions are
Otis Jiry could read a phone book and i would still listen and give it a thumbs up what a fantastic story telling voice
Otis Jiry is our favorite story teller. We listen everyday. Great voice, great actor.
This is the most scary story by h.p.lovecraft, and of course it is one of the best and most scariest stories of all time! Scary as hell!
Pretty scary then?
I can't go wrong when I choose Lovecraft..or Otis Jiry.
Thanks for another fantastic storytelling Mr. Jiry!

You truly are a master storyteller Otis.
The descendants kind of remind me of the morlocks from "The Time Machine".
Thanks for bringing us this classic with your amazing voice and narration skills, Mr. Jiry!

Lovecraft and Jiry, it can't get any better than this. Can you read Algernon Blackwood's The Wendigo?
The Man with No Name Please send me a link to the story at ojcpc@chillingtalesfromdarknights. Bless you.
Bro
You reminded me of something beautiful
I like this one, it has been well read... of course.
+Otis Jiry Really enjoy your work. Thank you. Would you entertain reading Robert R. McCammon's Swan Song? Or I am Legend by Richard Matheson?
I absolutely concur with him Mr. Jiry., though I am inclined more toward I am Legend. (Coooome OUT NEVILLE!) I love the original AND the version Omega Man w/Charlton Heston)(who, brag brag brag, I got to meet and talk to about 35 years ago!)

hi
'The wolfish wind rose to demonic crescendos of ululation'....Gotta be Lovecraft!
Feverish vegitaion, what a wonderful imagination
Dammm that was good
So this is the inspiration for the Bleeders?
+Cap Mar-Vell92 yes
+Cap Mar-Vell92 yes
Is the name "Jan" pronounced more like "yaahn"? Sorry if I'm wrong!
That name is probably pronounced 'Yon,' to rhyme with Don. If they were Dutch, it is. I'm taking German and learning how to pronounce basic Dutch.
All I can comment is... Holy shit
It's too bad that only in death did HP Lovecraft get his recognition, he died in poverty. Lived not far from me.
