I wish I had money are could come help my health won't let me. This is a historical event, why do people realize that it will affect all of us eventually. I live in Black Mountain and saw first hand the devastation Helene left behind in Swannanoa. Locals here say that they have never seen anything like this in their lifetime. Swannanoa is still in the process of cleanup and restoration and they have done a wonderful job in only 10 weeks time. During the disaster, I saw how the people in our area really pull together to help their community and it makes me proud to live here.
I live in Wisconsin, I’m 65 and I’ve seen floods over by the Mississippi but I’ve never seen anything like what this hurricane did to you. There are people screaming at the gov out here pleading with them to help you folks. Just can’t imagine how devastating this is.

Good! People do not pay attention to the reality of living in a capitalist country. Private property structures have never been rebuilt by our government. That is not what FEMA does. How those on that river (which had flooded like that 100 years ago), lived there without flood insurance, is crazy. Like living near any water, not a good idea, and flood insurance takes along time to rebuild because our private insurance inside that system is like Florida insurance, and slowly all of insurance, (liars cheaters and thieves) that need serious oversight. But we have Americans who don’t think our government should regulate and have oversight of insurance and finance (the worst thieves on the planet). Maybe our citizens can figure out what our government was tasked to do, with regulations, back in the day. Stop hiring liars, cheaters and thieves to run things that are to have a higher purpose, like healthcare, flood insurance, and all two faced lying politicians that are useless, unless stuffing conglomerate money in their bank accounts.
I have an infuriating story. I am fairly certain the reason why they're not doing anything for the people in the mountains is because they want those people to be in such a desperate situation that they just up and leave their land. Because I live in Mooresville North Carolina, and while yes the storm was pretty bad here, it was nothing compared to the mountains. Despite that, I know a couple that had some very minor water damage in their crawlspace of their home (that may have existed before the hurricane, to be honest), and they made a claim with FEMA and were almost immediately approved to have the repairs to their home paid for, plus a six month stay in a local hotel. Yet every single person I've seen from the mountains who has tried to get help has been denied. I can only think of one explanation for that, and it isn't good😮
Private property is not our government’s job to clean up and rebuild, period. They help states, counties rebuild infrastructure. If you are a property owner, you have to be insured for the river flood damage, always private for-profit insurance. Always in this country, Mexico Beach Florida, New Orleans Louisiana, Biloxi Mississippi, New Jersey shore communities, Port Charolette Florida, on and on and on. If you own property, you get insured properly, and if you live by a river (always a flood plain) you need to be VERY PREPARED. When I lived in New Orleans, all my neighbors had boats in their garages in the Garden District. They are built 45 inches off the ground. You wake up with your car floating away, take the insurance money and MOVE AWAY. Or you get insurance money and stay. But these people did not have flood insurance on a river, living in a flood plain. The government does not rebuild private property. I’ve been in floods, hurricanes, and had a wall of fire coming right at my home in California, with everyone evacuating. If you are smart, you learn, and you pay for good insurance if you own property. That is how this nation works, and if you rent, then you have to move somewhere else, like it or not. I moved from New Orleans with my car insurance money, to Mobile, AL where I was hit by a Cat 4 hurricane and lost another car. This is life, this is death, this is what PRIVATE INSURANCE IN AMERICA WAS CREATED FOR. The federal government has never rebuilt PRIVATE PROPERTY STRUCTURES. Mexico Beach Florida was wiped off the map. Yes, it is still rebuilding and those without flood insurance will never rebuild, they moved. Same for Paradise California, no insurance, means the bare lot is for sale to this day. You want socialism, good luck. Renters are relying on another’s private insurance. That doesn’t work for them, they must leave until our commercial for profit real estate industry rebuilds for profit.🎯 Right, Travis? Business🎯
God bless all of you. I have laid in bed and cried watching the videos. I was there last summer in Boone, NC and went to the Highland Games on Grandfather Mountain. I have donated both to you all for housing and warmth and to the Mountain Children for Christmas. If only the government would send 8 million to this place to clean up and take care of our own people, I think it would be better than sending money to the Ukraine to a lost cause. I live in VT just 1 mile from Senator Bernie Sanders and have written to him 2 times now about the extreme lack of federal help. I will keep writing to him until I hear something back from him. Write to your government leaders about this and demand they help the people rebuild the Infrastructure and houses. Get the Army core of engineers there in mass amounts to help until the places are livable

I just moved back to Colorado from North Carolina last december. I'm sharing your videos and information that you're sharing with everybody that I can out here. People are not aware at all of just how bad it is. Having lived there I can't even imagine the devastation in person. It's horrifying to see in videos and pictures. The Western North Carolina mountains were a beautiful hidden gem with an amazing people. It's just heartbreaking to see this happen and continue to be ignored. God bless you for making these videos! I will definitely keep sharing them. People don't understand that they're literally close to a thousand people missing and dead. Reporting that the dead amount is only 100 people is absurd and infuriating. And the fact that the railroad and the department of transportation don't care that people are not all accounted for and go in and just remove the debris piles without checking for missing is devastating. Many people will never have the closure that they deserve.

I have one volunteer there who said the only thing that he’s paying for is his gas. Everything else is taken care of. He also said they need lots of help. Let me know. 😊
I hope we all know that it doesn't matter who is in the 'top job' because this is a systemic problem -- greed. We have allowed many of our economic sectors, to take advantage of the American people. It's disgusting and frightening for the future of our country. My husband and I will be retiring in the next two years n another country. I’m neighbors of Asheville and lost everything and this is a good video and shows truth. Luckily we have some family that is allowing us to stay with them. It’s not been easy but none of this has been ok. Our communities have really pulled together.

My heart goes out to all those affected by Helene. I'm from Virginia Appalachia hills but have been in Florida 55 years & even in Florida, we got hit by trio storms, but not like NC did with Helene!! I have never seen a hurricane not slow down going across 2 states & then hitting the hills!! Something strange with this one!!!
I am at a loss for why the Government isn't doing more. Why are we not using the SeaBees. Their expertise is cleaning up war zone areas and building infrastructure. They have a significant amount of heavy equipment. Come on FEMA do your job.

Here in Lake Charles, Louisiana Hurricane Lara hit us really hard in 2020 we still have blue tarped roofs that FEMA was suppose to replace and they have not done their jobs here either. We are still rebuilding.
In Mississippi, we saw blue tarps on roofs for years after Katrina, for 200 miles from the coast to the capital. It takes so long to rebuild and come back, if ever.😢

They just passed additional funding a few days ago. I agree that this is horrific. My mother was flooded out twice in WV, and nobody ever helped her except friends and family. The first time, the governor stole the money. (Arch Moore, allegedly) He went to jail. The second time, I don't know what happened. I hope they get more help their way.

Hey i havent forgot that DAY ONE they on the news said it was a dam break or they fully opened the dam doors. Day two nobody talked about it... since....
Normal dam operations release large amounts of water (BEFORE THE STORMS ARRIVE!) That allows the reservoir to have the capacity to take the amount of storm water and hold it back. This was not done. Operational error, likely on purpose. The dam operators need to be deposed under sworn oath as to who ordered them to not follow standard procedures?
22 year old down in Tampa Florida, the minute it was past us and I noticed it hit NC and I saw the destruction it broke my heart, if I could I would move and come help people and rebuild, the mountains were supposed to be an escape from the hell down here.

We were SO Blessed we had no loss of life here in Taylor County Florida. But our small little town was hit with over 20 foot Storm Surge , was directly hit by Helene and we are STILL suffering as well! Most of us Are Forgotten ! We are known for our Resources being Scalloping and Fishing . Lots of Tourists come here . Out small town is destroyed. We are ALL Forgotten so it seems.
This is a generation or maybe a two generation event. It's going to be a long hard slog out of this mess. The little folks will be still working at the end of their hopefully long lives, at trying to straighten this mess out. My heart breaks for all of them in Western NC!

I lived in Swannanoa in 2013. I hiked all the affected areas on a regular basis back then. Owen Park, Lake Tomahawk, Lake Susan, Lake Lure, Morse Park, and Chimney Rock were all regular walks/hikes for me. Its tragic to see them all devastated.
I used to live in maggie valley about 4 years ago and me and my mom traveled up to Asheville every day. My mom worked as a gymnastics coach and I was a gymnast. It's so sad to see everything that I once knew reduced to rubble... Now living in Florida, I can physically see the difference between a state that is extremely prepared for natural disasters (Florida) and one that's not (NC) It's not only that, but since the Biden administration is so focused on Ukraine that they barely have any recourses left to take care of North Carolina PLUS there are countless stories about how FEMA was ordered to slow down rescue efforts by keeping residents from rescuing people. This is LITERALLY like watching a post apocalyptic movie.
You need to take off your tinfoil hat, bud. I'm here and I know what happened in the real world. 4 days of torrential rainfall and then the remnants of a hurricane. Mountains aren't made for that much water and NO ONE predicted what happened. (And the government showed up within hours and started helping rescue folks.)
At 6:50, it shows what use to be a Motel 6. Between Business US 70 and I-40, Exit 55. Stayed there many times. I didn't know that trickle stream at the bottom of the parking lot was the Swannanoa River. The weather in NC is usually real good. But when it's bad, it's real bad. I lived there since 1967 and been through several toranados and hurricanes. We moved to SW Utah after our home in New Bern NC got flooded by Hurricane Florence in 2018. The "Storms of the Century" seemed to be happening with increasing frequency...everywhere!
Locals in some towns are giving interviews that months, and weeks before they have seen government agencies, Chinese companies asking if they want to sell their lands, or perhaps might be taking their lands by Eminem Domaine 🤔 There is mines of Silica, which is use for computers etc. Pray for the locals🙏 God bless and protect our nation.🙏

Finally I understand because no one talks about the auto dam release. They make is sound like it was flash flooding from the rain of the hurricane. It was the lake above that wiped everything out. Was that smart to auto release the water? Yes the dam could break but maybe it wouldn't have??
Don't know about your state, but there's no flood insurance even offered in NY unless you're in a designated flood zone, which is dependent on land elevation.

I live in Black Mountain and saw first hand the devastation Helene left behind in Swannanoa. Locals here say that they have never seen anything like this in their lifetime. Swannanoa is still in the process of cleanup and restoration and they have done a wonderful job in only 10 weeks time. During the disaster, I saw how the people in our area really pull together to help their community and it makes me proud to live here.
I live in Wisconsin, I’m 65 and I’ve seen floods over by the Mississippi but I’ve never seen anything like what this hurricane did to you. There are people screaming at the gov out here pleading with them to help you folks. Just can’t imagine how devastating this is.

Good! People do not pay attention to the reality of living in a capitalist country. Private property structures have never been rebuilt by our government. That is not what FEMA does. How those on that river (which had flooded like that 100 years ago), lived there without flood insurance, is crazy. Like living near any water, not a good idea, and flood insurance takes along time to rebuild because our private insurance inside that system is like Florida insurance, and slowly all of insurance, (liars cheaters and thieves) that need serious oversight. But we have Americans who don’t think our government should regulate and have oversight of insurance and finance (the worst thieves on the planet). Maybe our citizens can figure out what our government was tasked to do, with regulations, back in the day. Stop hiring liars, cheaters and thieves to run things that are to have a higher purpose, like healthcare, flood insurance, and all two faced lying politicians that are useless, unless stuffing conglomerate money in their bank accounts.
I have an infuriating story. I am fairly certain the reason why they're not doing anything for the people in the mountains is because they want those people to be in such a desperate situation that they just up and leave their land. Because I live in Mooresville North Carolina, and while yes the storm was pretty bad here, it was nothing compared to the mountains. Despite that, I know a couple that had some very minor water damage in their crawlspace of their home (that may have existed before the hurricane, to be honest), and they made a claim with FEMA and were almost immediately approved to have the repairs to their home paid for, plus a six month stay in a local hotel. Yet every single person I've seen from the mountains who has tried to get help has been denied. I can only think of one explanation for that, and it isn't good😮

Private property is not our government’s job to clean up and rebuild, period. They help states, counties rebuild infrastructure. If you are a property owner, you have to be insured for the river flood damage, always private for-profit insurance. Always in this country, Mexico Beach Florida, New Orleans Louisiana, Biloxi Mississippi, New Jersey shore communities, Port Charolette Florida, on and on and on. If you own property, you get insured properly, and if you live by a river (always a flood plain) you need to be VERY PREPARED. When I lived in New Orleans, all my neighbors had boats in their garages in the Garden District. They are built 45 inches off the ground. You wake up with your car floating away, take the insurance money and MOVE AWAY. Or you get insurance money and stay. But these people did not have flood insurance on a river, living in a flood plain. The government does not rebuild private property. I’ve been in floods, hurricanes, and had a wall of fire coming right at my home in California, with everyone evacuating. If you are smart, you learn, and you pay for good insurance if you own property. That is how this nation works, and if you rent, then you have to move somewhere else, like it or not. I moved from New Orleans with my car insurance money, to Mobile, AL where I was hit by a Cat 4 hurricane and lost another car. This is life, this is death, this is what PRIVATE INSURANCE IN AMERICA WAS CREATED FOR. The federal government has never rebuilt PRIVATE PROPERTY STRUCTURES. Mexico Beach Florida was wiped off the map. Yes, it is still rebuilding and those without flood insurance will never rebuild, they moved. Same for Paradise California, no insurance, means the bare lot is for sale to this day. You want socialism, good luck. Renters are relying on another’s private insurance. That doesn’t work for them, they must leave until our commercial for profit real estate industry rebuilds for profit.🎯 Right, Travis? Business🎯

People are not aware at all of just how bad it is. Having lived there I can't even imagine the devastation in person. It's horrifying to see in videos and pictures. The Western North Carolina mountains were a beautiful hidden gem with an amazing people. It's just heartbreaking to see this happen and continue to be ignored. God bless you for making these videos! I will definitely keep sharing them. People don't understand that they're literally close to a thousand people missing and dead. Reporting that the dead amount is only 100 people is absurd and infuriating. And the fact that the railroad and the department of transportation don't care that people are not all accounted for and go in and just remove the debris piles without checking for missing is devastating. Many people will never have the closure that they deserve.

My heart goes out to all those affected by Helene. I'm from Virginia Appalachia hills but have been in Florida 55 years & even in Florida, we got hit by trio storms, but not like NC did with Helene!! I have never seen a hurricane not slow down going across 2 states & then hitting the hills!! Something strange with this one!!!
I am at a loss for why the Government isn't doing more. Why are we not using the SeaBees. Their expertise is cleaning up war zone areas and building infrastructure. They have a significant amount of heavy equipment. Come on FEMA do your job.

Here in Lake Charles, Louisiana Hurricane Lara hit us really hard in 2020 we still have blue tarped roofs that FEMA was suppose to replace and they have not done their jobs here either. We are still rebuilding.

They just passed additional funding a few days ago. I agree that this is horrific. My mother was flooded out twice in WV, and nobody ever helped her except friends and family. The first time, the governor stole the money. (Arch Moore, allegedly) He went to jail. The second time, I don't know what happened. I hope they get more help their way.

It was done on purpose. They have been doing this shit since way back before Katrina.
Normal dam operations release large amounts of water (BEFORE THE STORMS ARRIVE!) That allows the reservoir to have the capacity to take the amount of storm water and hold it back.
This was not done. Operational error, likely on purpose. The dam operators need to be deposed under sworn oath as to who ordered them to not follow standard procedures?
22 year old down in Tampa Florida, the minute it was past us and I noticed it hit NC and I saw the destruction it broke my heart, if I could I would move and come help people and rebuild, the mountains were supposed to be an escape from the hell down here.

I lived in Swannanoa in 2013. I hiked all the affected areas on a regular basis back then. Owen Park, Lake Tomahawk, Lake Susan, Lake Lure, Morse Park, and Chimney Rock were all regular walks/hikes for me. Its tragic to see them all devastated.
What people don’t understand about this damage is that it’s beyond praying and beyond being fixed fast,there is so much damage all over the county!

My mom worked as a gymnastics coach and I was a gymnast.

Now living in Florida, I can physically see the difference between a state that is extremely prepared for natural disasters (Florida) and one that's not (NC)
It's not only that, but since the Biden administration is so focused on Ukraine that they barely have any recourses left to take care of North Carolina PLUS there are countless stories about how FEMA was ordered to slow down rescue efforts by keeping residents from rescuing people.
This is LITERALLY like watching a post apocalyptic movie.

You need to take off your tinfoil hat, bud. I'm here and I know what happened in the real world. 4 days of torrential rainfall and then the remnants of a hurricane. Mountains aren't made for that much water and NO ONE predicted what happened. (And the government showed up within hours and started helping rescue folks.)

At 6:50, it shows what use to be a Motel 6. Between Business US 70 and I-40, Exit 55. Stayed there many times. I didn't know that trickle stream at the bottom of the parking lot was the Swannanoa River.
The weather in NC is usually real good. But when it's bad, it's real bad. I lived there since 1967 and been through several toranados and hurricanes.
We moved to SW Utah after our home in New Bern NC got flooded by Hurricane Florence in 2018. The "Storms of the Century" seemed to be happening with increasing frequency...everywhere!
Locals in some towns are giving interviews that months, and weeks before they have seen government agencies, Chinese companies asking if they want to sell their lands, or perhaps might be taking their lands by Eminem Domaine 🤔 There is mines of Silica, which is use for computers etc. Pray for the locals🙏 God bless and protect our nation.🙏

Someone needs to investigate the Army Corps of Engineers to find out why the early warning system didn't work. Liability need be determined for damages.
It didn't work because either it did not exist in some areas, or it was damaged by the hurricane.

Finally I understand because no one talks about the auto dam release. They make is sound like it was flash flooding from the rain of the hurricane. It was the lake above that wiped everything out. Was that smart to auto release the water? Yes the dam could break but maybe it wouldn't have??
Don't know about your state, but there's no flood insurance even offered in NY unless you're in a designated flood zone, which is dependent on land elevation.

I wonder if there is any correlation between all these weather events. The fires in Hawaii, California Camp Fire and all the states affected on the east coast. This year in Snow Arkansas we had flash flood and tornado outbreak. It looks as bad as North Carolina 6 months later almost.
