How crazy. My name is Kevin, Ive been following you guys since you bought atticus I. Never thaought you would be in my neck of the woods, Crazy as it sounds My family and I live in Swannanoa which is next to Asheville. We survived Helen thankfully, I feel like we have survivors guilt . Anyway it was nice to see you guys looking for a home in this area
Love you guys! So sorry for the destruction of Xio's home. Very glad you were close enough to be able to help. And glad your camper was safe. Be well. ❤
God Bless you and your in-laws for helping your parents. I am probably close to your parents age and I know what it would mean to have my family there.
Oh my! So sorry for your Mom! We are 3 blocks from the beach in Venice & pretty close to ground 0. We need a new roof but somehow didn’t get the flooding our nearby neighbors got. I understand your thoughts about survivors syndrome. Good bless Cio, I hope recovery goes well.
What a beautiful video. Just goes to show you can never be too safe. It’s very hard to reflect on those moments where you don’t necessarily feel like you deserve to be where you are. I really appreciate and respectful who you two are as people. You are so thoughtful, and care without being asked to, and that’s so refreshing to see. You always try to do the right thing. We need more of that in life! Cheers on safer travels and congrats on that lil baby bump ❤
And this is what family is all about, sacrificing when the need arises. It is so uplifting to see the outpouring of love and support to all of the hurricane victims...... it reinstills faith in humanity. I love this channel! Glad your trailer was spared. Be well Project Atticus, can't wait to see your new home.
Hey guys, don’t skip out on exploring the Bryson City area, it’s an awesome little town with great people. I live in Fl and book short term rentals there regularly. You’ll like Bryson, for sure.
Western NC lover here … I’ve watched you since I lived there (and I’ll be back) - idk if y’all read these, but if you can bear the recovery time, this would be a great place to call home. There’s more than meets the eye… It’s going to be a long road of recovery, but I highly recommend keeping your eyes on WNC. I positively love that y’all went to Asheville to help out.
The Lord God has been with you all this time. He alone is sovereign. Your experiences have nothing to do with luck or “knocking on wood.” He has His hand upon you. So thankful for your safety. Soon you’ll realize and understand all of this. Blessings to you and your beautiful family.
Lived on a sailboat for 10 years, now worries about the rain when setting up his rig 😂😂 Just teasing you, Jordan. You guys look happier. That motel waffle was insane 😂
We are in WNC now volunteering from Montana. Many areas remain a mess. What people need now is money to rebuild. Insurance is refusing claims left and right and they dont have the money to buy building materials. Its getting cold at night and has been rainy- many are still living in tents.
RV Tip: During the day or especially the night do not leave your storage compartments in the open position. I have seen my fellow RVers leave them open and some critters (mice) got into the RV and were in the living area that night. While in the Keys camping a BIG rat got in the RV next to us, needless to say they did not sleep much that night. When I bought our RV I crawled under it and used the builders foam with rodent proof into every crack and opening that I came across. Since 2012 we have not encountered any critters inside. Wait, I take that back. While parked next to the house here in Central Florida a small lizard got in when I opened the door, but I was able to catch it and let him/her out. Great video!
I like your comment about the randomness of one event that could change your life. When I was a teenager, growing up on a farm in Australia, we had exactly that. We had gone through a few years of drought and one day we saw rain coming, but as usual, it was going to miss us. I can remember my Mum saying, "oh great, it's going around us again." It was right about then that it changed direction and came straight towards us. Unfortunately it was a super cell that dumped about a year's worth of rain and hail in less than half an hour. Before the rain, we had about 120 acres of crops ready to be harvested in the next month. After, it looked like the fields had been freshly plowed. Every tree had it's leaves stripped bear. Id never seen anything like it. That was the straw that broke the camels back. Within a month, our farm was up for sale and after 40 years of farming, my father was out looking for work. He found decent work, then at 60, started a new business with a friend. He built it up and to make an already long story short, sold it and has been retired for about 20 years now. If he had stayed on the farm, he would probably still be broke and working his butt off. I honestly believe that devistating storm was the best thing that could have happened to my father.
Just came across this video. Your words resonated with me. “I don’t deserve to be lucky” We were in a campground in Fletcher, NC visiting our favorite town, beautiful Asheville, NC the week of the storm. We felt compelled to leave and headed to our sticks and bricks home several states away on the Wednesday afternoon before the storm. They weren’t even saying it was going to be as bad as it ended up being, around that time. I’ve felt survivors guilt since we left. I’m still heartbroken at what happened to Asheville and so many people and other towns because of Helene. 💔
How did Murphy miss the worst of Helene? The mountain range that separates us from the rest of GA, from Unicoi to Neals Gap with the Mother Mountain, Brasstown Bald protecting the Young Harris valley. We watched this devastating storm heading our way, however we were not concerned because numerous storms have passed by and the worst part always veers away . From Blairsville to Hiawassee are in this safe zone, not so much Clayton. Sunday morning was 31 in the valley. As I came down the hill to the gallery the temp was 64 with no heat on over the night. If you plan to build here in the mountains, consider a double shed design with passive solar application and save a lot of money on heating and cooling. And building costs are less than conventional methods. David
Still watching since your Atticus days and man you guys sure can roll with the punches. Family is number one and a schedule is just marks on a calendar. Take care of what you can and take your boat skills to repairing a flooded home. You can do it.
Great video!!! When I got out of military in 1993, I lived in Murphy NC because my X-wife is from there. It’s beautiful mountain community, but like you said there’s not a lot of jobs and economic opportunities there. I had to move back toward where I’m from now just west of Charlotte!!! I’m glad y’all dodged the storm and able to help Desires mom. Again great video and hope y’all can continue to search for a permanent home site… Bryson City is also beautiful, Great Smokey Mountains are some of the most amazing scenery of mountains on the east coast::
Back when you were looking for a replacement for the broken bulkhead 30 footer I made a comment. I told you guys you were in our prayers and that oddly enough I had a dream that we walked around the corner and met you. Youe were pushing a Double stroller in Charleston SC. Maybe that will happen one day. I don't comment much any more but still enjoy being part of the journey. My son and I drove a truckload of emergency supplies up the the Hurricane victims. So glad you were not over here on my side of the French Board river were it was devastating.
You guys are going to have another baby girl pretty soon. Isabella is very sweet and adorable, and I pray and hope that the next baby will be healthy and that Desire will have an easy delivery.
Hi little family, I'm so glad you're all fine, but so sorry for the folks on that side that have lost so much.I think being grateful for all you have and saying so,attracts blessings and you will be fine.❤
You guys did so much by bringing attention to that community in Asheville, I know it helped them a lot. Feel good that your platform/ audience has helped in such a positive way. Much love to you guys,…hopefully we’ll meet someday.
When the area is cleaned up and you guys have everything settled in with the new baby, you guys should go back and hike the trails to the waterfalls in DuPonte park. They are beautiful.
Hi folks, long time w a t c h e r and listener. Sorry about all the mishap but sure enjoy your adventures and misadventures. Cute little ESA and pesky little Oso. Thanks so much and look forward to next Sunday and God bless you all forever and ever.❤❤❤❤
OMG, Giovana wearing a W&M Field hockey shirt... Small world, I'm from and still live here in Williamsburg and both my dad and Uncle retired from W&M... Prayers to you and your family on getting through the reconstruction and glad everyone is safe.
Glad yall liked our little town of Murphy! Was your BBQ from Big Nick's or Rib Country? Either one is the best! Hope you guys can come back and visit again! Next time without all the crazy storm stuff!
Welcome to Florida! Luckily we had contacted our Insurance Company after Helena, there adjusted showed up on Treasure Island 3 days afterwards, ServePro on the 5th day. Ours is a block house yet they went up 48inches from our main floor, disassembled plaster after vacuuming water and aired with 3 volume fans to dry. Then sprayed with a mold cleaner. Presently we are installing blueboard and plastering. Mostly all furnishings were placed on street including stove and refrigerator. The City has been trying to keep up with disposal yet every house is in the same process.
Hey guys. Good to see you again. There aren't too many sailing channels I follow anymore. After writing a song for Peter on Sailing into Freedom (Sailing to Freedom, Episode 265 and others) I followed three or four. I always enjoyed yours. Completely understand your current decisions to be off the water for a while. The trailer life is right in our wheelhouse as we spend at least 6 months a year in our Brinkley fifth wheel. Most of it living off grid in the southwest. That Asheville area is awesome, and we have visited it several times in our 54 years together. Steeped in a great musical tradition I love to busk in local campgrounds there and always find players willing to jam. Keep up the good work. Fun to watch your progress. Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on you-tube.
When you are at any point in life and you take any action, at any angle, large or tiny, as we all have to do, you can end up with vastly different results with chance playing a significant part. It's basic geometry. A point in time is a centre point of a circle and who knows what things will be like by the time you get to the distant circumferences. Life is exciting!
I watch your videos with my wife and when we say the one where you premiered your NB 20.3, she immediately wanted to trade in our 20' RPOD 179 for the NB 20.4 so thanks for that.
I look forward to finishing this video when I wake up in the morning. I will say one thing. Living in Greenville SC about 45 minutes to one hour from Asheville NC. The destruction here wasn’t flooding. It was tornadoes 100s-1000s of tornadoes. It hit here at like 6:00-6:30 am maybe earlier. Sound of a train going right behind my house. For over an hour straight. Had no big trees near my house. I couldn’t imagine being close to any big trees. Or having. The mudslides that hit Asheville. That is the most frightening way to have your last moment ever. Absolutely terrifying. We don’t ever get tornadoes. We are landlocked. The nearest coast is at very least 3 hours from Greenville and probably 4-5 from Asheville if not more. I think it’s like over a month later and everyday we are all still reminded of it. The trees. The washed away roads. The ENTIRE TOWNS THAT LITERALLY WASHED AWAY. 9:40 super strange how it did that.
Weaponized weather is my thought. If not weaponized, the cloud seeding at least. Causes excessive rain and in this case probably extra spin. There is no way a hurricane reached that far inland without dissapating.
Jordan, you’re not alone feeling like you don’t deserve to be so lucky. It’s a form of PTSD. Like Kevin said it’s called survivors guilt. Sorry you have to go through that but like I said, you’re not alone. All we war-era Veterans come home with some degree of this guilt. Why am I still here? Why not my buddies? It’s something you have to personally find a way to deal with. Maybe you can begin to understand why the suicide rate is so high for veterans. Sorry to post such a sensitive subject. Really just wanted to support your thoughts and feelings.👍. Love y’all’s channel since Atticus #1❤⛵️🇺🇸
Oh forgot to mention Jordan that they're actually is no such thing as luck and I know most everybody uses the phrase and me too, but it's all about action and reaction, as you s o w so shall you reap, karma. There is a reason for everything!
Hey bud keep your head up and there will always be asses out there!! You outlook on life is awesome and you are a man to be strived after. Love the channel and our prayers are out there for you and your family to make it through this extremely tough time. Wishing you the best!!!
We live in SE Tn. where the storm skipped over us also. Chickamauga Lake was lowered 3 feet in preparation but it only rose 2 feet, 100 miles north it was a different story.
I love Bryson City! I grew up rafting the Natahala River every summer as a kid. You'll have to take your babies when they are older. It's an easy family friendly river. Nice of you guys to go help your Mom! I'm sure she's very grateful! Hope her home is better by now and you're back on the road!
We live in west Tennessee and we only got average winds but three days of hard rain from the end of the hurricane, then got the end of another a couple weeks later, however the week you got it, we had reservations at Fontana Lake and were preparing to leave when we learned that I-40 had several miles gone, not phone service and bridges gone. We had no way to cancel our reservations, but instead of going elsewhere, we just stayed home and relaxed and sent money to Samaritan's Purse. They did refund our money once phone service was restored the following Thursday... More people are traveling now, and Florida stays booked up from September through April in most of the campgrounds, especially the further south you go, but in years of traveling, we never made reservations in the rest of the country, even California. Did have a problem in Alaska, but it was due to international events or competitions in June. You probably noticed that the campgrounds you stayed in were not full unless they were private ones with permanent residents as a lot of people recently have retired in campers in one location with monthly or yearly fees.
Jordan, I think that's a humble, honorable kind-hearted thing to think, I don't deserve to be lucky. I don't either, but I'm thankful to God for every good thing. Happy Thanksgiving!
I know your mother-in-law is lucky you both can help ! It could have been more diff if she had to wait for professional help! Hope it all went well! I noticed your sister in law had a William & Mary shirt on. If she went out or goes there it’s a great school! My brother and sister went there! A neat town as well! Glad you were spared the distraction of the storm!😊
well sorry mom dad for your damage thankfully you are ok safe and family help is always a great grace to have and i bless you all with good health faith strength and continue on all will prevail with family love and consistence bless you guys and gals
Guys so glad yall are safe. But miss Atticus much?😅 I'm sure you do but as always support your decisions. Now I was wondering have you thought about harvesting lumber from your property using a portable saw mills? I think this would be really useful in the areas devastated by Helene. Just a thought.
I live north of you in Pinellas county, got 22" in the house 34" outside... pretty much lost everything.... going back in new drywall last week, we cut the bottom 48" off, pricing new kitchen and bathrooms this week... completely remodel this house in 2019 / 20... here we go again... Would somebody come up with a good inexpensive flood dam? please!
Wow it feels like Jordan and I have a lot in common and sense these kind of weather forecast and reading the sky. I knew when it wasn't even a named storm that this was going to be extreme. Knowing the weather/water and climate as a roofer it's funny that your gut feeling is right. We lucked out here in Conyers Georgia. If you guys buy something around here I would love to meet up and make you guys our new friends! Lol I've been your friend already for years lol but that's one sided hahaha
Wouldn't have had to worry about any of this if you were still sailing Atticus 😂. Just kidding just kidding. Lol. It's so funny to say that I miss someone else's boat 😂
I imagine this thought crossed your mind, but this timing could have been a huge blessing to you. You are looking for a place to settle, and the area just got hit with historic weather damage. If things had been a little different, you could have just bought a property and been wrecked in a matter of weeks afterwards. That would have been difficult. This flooding seems to be climate change related. It seems to me that one needs to consider that it can happen again. Picking a place that might not be as vulnerable is something to consider, although it might be easier said than done.....
Ironic that you were on Lookout Mountain where all the models predicted a direct hit. You move way east an the storm does too, an goes further east than you did.
If you guys are going to continually travel around, pulling that RV behind you, you may want to consider getting a pro pride hitch. for safety reasons !! Just spend five minutes in research it.. 😀😀😀😀.. you may be able to work out something with that company as sponsorship as your channel is pretty popular and I have followed you for years and watched every video you’ve made.
You made the right choice to help family paying forward all the help that others have provided you over the years. But, pregnant lady should not be around contaminates-obviously.
Luck is just that, luck. It doesn’t favor those in need or deserving. Instead of seeing the area at its best, you get to see it at its worst. You still want a mountain home?
Go to surfshark.com/atticus for 4 extra months of Surfshark at an unbeatable price!
Brevard here!
Hello neighbor !
I live in Asheville and lived through the hurricane. Just got potable water last week for the firs time. Tough going!
Every day is a gift. We should be grateful for all of them.
Love you guys! So sorry for the destruction of Xio's home. Very glad you were close enough to be able to help. And glad your camper was safe. Be well. ❤
God Bless you and your in-laws for helping your parents. I am probably close to your parents age and I know what it would mean to have my family there.
Family always first!! We need to help each other out, so glad you were here and able to help!✌️💜
Wonderful to see Giovanna again! Looking forward to seeing all your hard work next episode. Take care guys!

The adventure continues...sorry for all the damage but very happy everyone is healthy.
You lucked out/were blessed so you can help/bless others. Good decision! Happens to me all the time!
Greetings from SoCal. So sad to see this damage to Giovanna’s home and all Floridian’s. 😢 So glad you’re able to help her. 👍
Hey guys, don’t skip out on exploring the Bryson City area, it’s an awesome little town with great people. I live in Fl and book short term rentals there regularly. You’ll like Bryson, for sure.
Take the railroad trip along the river. Very cool!
I’m so sorry “mom”… but how awesome to have 2 daughters and a wonderful son in law to come along side you.
Thanks!
Thank you!

Glad yall liked our little town of Murphy! Was your BBQ from Big Nick's or Rib Country? Either one is the best! Hope you guys can come back and visit again! Next time without all the crazy storm stuff!

So sorry guys. Ya'll been coping so much bad weather over there. All the best to your families.👍🙏
Murphy is beautiful! Hope you have a really close friend that lives there and I love visiting!
Wish you all the best in your new adventures. Stay safe and "Family First". But it just not the same as on Atticus.
Good to see you being cautious, your boating skills have set you up for a lot of calmly navigating at lot of challenges.
Wishing you the best!!!
welcome to life on earth, lived thru two tornados, one-flood and now a loss of job for two years and no prospects of work.
One of the few rivers left that will be navigable.
I love BRYSON CITY. 😂❤ We were there July, this year. I always enjoyed staying at FRYEMONT INN
Thank you for flying the beautiful American flag! You guys are real Patriots!!
Its November guys, l think you survived 😅, but yes you are behind, we understand, and loving your new adventures
What a blessing your home and family are safe! Thank you for sharing your adventures and growing family!
Oh yea! Bryson City!!!
So why not drive West for 12 hours or more with the camper, or was the storm spreading that far West?
I live north of you in Pinellas county, got 22" in the house 34" outside... pretty much lost everything.... going back in new drywall last week, we cut the bottom 48" off, pricing new kitchen and bathrooms this week... completely remodel this house in 2019 / 20... here we go again... Would somebody come up with a good inexpensive flood dam? please!
Awfully sorry, i was quite worried about your mom knowing where she lives. Hope all goes well during remediaton.
If you buy a house in the Bryson city area, you could always collab with the Perkins builder brothers!
Just an admin fyi.

I am finally only today
Dec 27 seeing it on my feed.
Even had more recent ones show. Strange.
So sad all that destruction and the insurance won’t pay up 😢
We are still drying out the walls and repairs on floors(wood) it will take time..but it's ok..
Wouldn't have had to worry about any of this if you were still sailing Atticus 😂. Just kidding just kidding. Lol. It's so funny to say that I miss someone else's boat 😂
My Grand Banks 36 was on a mooring ball at st Augustine and I got a hotel for hurricane Helen...
230 is a gross under estimate. The locals say it’s in the thousands.
Picking a place that might not be as vulnerable is something to consider, although it might be easier said than done.....
mother in law pulling all bro's strings 🪢
Was in Bryson City last week, this past August, and 19 other times in my life (and 7 years of marriage)
Ironic that you were on Lookout Mountain where all the models predicted a direct hit. You move way east an the storm does too, an goes further east than you did.
Do you miss your sailboat and the ocean?
If you guys are going to continually travel around, pulling that RV behind you, you may want to consider getting a pro pride hitch. for safety reasons !! Just spend five minutes in research it.. 😀😀😀😀.. you may be able to work out something with that company as sponsorship as your channel is pretty popular and I have followed you for years and watched every video you’ve made.
You made the right choice to help family paying forward all the help that others have provided you over the years. But, pregnant lady should not be around contaminates-obviously.
Bryson City is the home of Perkin's Builder Brothers which have an awesome UA-cam channel
It's not luck, God spared you
❤❤
Out of the frying pan and into the fire!
I think the storm hit because you stayed in Murphy. It's his law.
Luck is just that, luck. It doesn’t favor those in need or deserving.
Instead of seeing the area at its best, you get to see it at its worst. You still want a mountain home?
i lived in Murphy
