Just bought a 2023 XLT Hybrid yesterday. I've been keeping an eye out and found it posted on the dealer site Wednesday evening. The original owner works at the dealership and bought it in January while waiting on his awd to come in. Luckily I know someone at the dealership and basically paid msrp. It's basically new so they had it listed way over. I feel fortunate I even found one!

@@Kyle-tw2mf congratulations. You will love the mileage and the convenience of a small pick up. I did a lot of research and discovered, the hybrid system is similar to the 2017- present ford escape hybrid system. Many of those older 2017 ford escape hybrid’s are used as taxicabs. Some with 300-400k miles . You know how taxi drivers care for a taxi, they beat them to the ground. Enjoy the Maverick.

I just took delivery of my Maverick hybrid and love it. I previously had a 2015 Chevy Colorado 4x4, and probably used the 4x4 mode 3 times ever and towed a 2k trailer 2-3 times a year. The Maverick handles all that just fine and at 40+ mpg!

  • @trevorbraun2574

Took delivery on my hybrid last week… it’s just the right amount of truck for my needs. Dump runs, hauling lumber (with a bed rack) and if you’re easy on the pedal you can average 40MPG driving backroads and smaller highways. There are some areas where you can really tell these were built to a price, but for the most part it’s a good value.

I love what the Maverick hybrid is, what it represents, and the fact that it makes a great lifestyle small truck for a lot of people. I would want an FX4 or Tremor for me, but I'm also a lot more likely to have a mid-size or full-size truck. Hopefully other automakers will want to dip into the segment because Ford can't make enough of these.

Checked a lot of my boxes namely the price and I really like the small bed, which could be covered aftermarket. I only considered Hybrid. If Ford Maverick was Ecoboost only I wouldn't even look at it. The fact they sell it as Hybrid is genius at a price point, they stole customer like me from purchasing let say Corolla. One thig I've discovered owning a Rav4 Hybrid(very similar drivetrain), is that on country roads that are flat and have relatively few stops, milage can leave the epa ratings in the dust. The best milage Ibe seen on my Rav4 on it's trip computer(which has proven it's self to be fairly accurate) flirts with 49mpg, and that's with a 22 Rav4 Hybrid, not a Corrolla hybrid. Mind you that was in warm weather and once you start to get around freezing the milage drops off significantly, since the gas engine has to do more work. I've found on the milage to still be respectable for the size of vehicle and the very cold temperatures at play. The artificial noise does get a few comfused looks in towns and parking lots.
Ryan is correct about the adaptive cruise control being very nice(like it better than lane keep assist). The CVT transmission is of the same style as the e-CVT as the Toyota Prius hybrid and it's brethren. So Jayco style CVT premature failures are not an issue here. I considered the xlt Maverick when I was shopping and just decided the sport ute was a better fit, for me.

One comment - I suspect some of the reason for lower HWY mpg in hybrids is that air resistance goes up with speed raised to the 4th power. That's like squared twice. So a somewhat blocky vehicle like this will probably get much better mpg at lower speeds, and every bit will count; something to remember if you are trying to reduce gas costs.
Non-hybrid gas cars have the same issue but lose so much mpg in city driving because the gas engine has to stay on even through annoyingly long traffic lights, at a decent rpm.

The XL is the toughest to get.The hybrid is even tougher because orders are over double capacity. Ask your dealer how many allocations they have coming. If you are order 10 out of 20, good. 30 out of 20, not good, and your build will probably never get scheduled.

We have the XLT Mav w/ sunroof & lux package. I appreciate the regular key ignition > push button. The simplicity of the Maverick is what makes it so great in 2023. I run it hard for first 2500 miles. It gets 45 mpg all the time and have got as high as 47 with a lot of city driving. O found out years ago if you run a new car hard for first 2000 t0 5000 thousand miles it will run smother and get better gas mileage

The Maverick is an odd vehicle to me in that, depending on the package, it could replace the Fiesta that I commute in, or the Xterra that I have fun in. If find it difficult to decide which role I like better as a concept. Either way its probably good that Ford is planning on ramping up production soon.

Please consider doing something no other reviewer ever seems to do, attempt to get the most mileage possible. 17,000 miles on by Maverick lariat, 52 miles per gallon. Make no mistake, I try to get maximum miles per gallon , Most reviewers just want to get behind the wheel and drive as if it could not do better with a little effort. It prefers slower speed in Eco mode . If you review a sport car, you push it to show what it can do, same with off-road vehicle, why not do the same with truck design for gas mileage? Just a suggestion.

I've been tossing around the idea of starting up a small lawn mowing business, but even at that my 1987 Ford Ranger would work great for that, no need for a brand new vehicle just to trash it from lawn care work. The bed size on the Maverick would be fine for that type of work, but once again my 87 long bed Ranger would work just fine...My Ranger also tows 2,000lbs due to being downrated for being a manual transmission. I don't care for a 4 door pickup, I have an SUV if I want to haul people. Wish Ford would come out with something close to the size of the Maverick with a 6 to 7 foot bed, and a lot of contractors, and delivery service companies, and a lot of other business oriented people would buy them for work vehicles, especially if they kept the price in the mid to high $20k range, add AWD and it would be plenty for most people.

I mean the drone shot while crossing the bridge at 11:11 is so cool. Yet only 300k subs. I know other car channels that don’t have half as good car content/production with 400k subs. This one should be at a million easy.

What you're missing is that drone footage isn't special at all, everyone does it. I like this channel a lot and I'm a regular viewer, but the style and music is straight out of the 90s, which for me is fine, but it's not particularly special enough to attract a ton of viewers, especially younger viewers that dominate YT.

Due to tow specs the hybrid won't work for me. Lack of AWD is a problem, also. Silly, but most important to me was the annoyance of the front screen. In the test drive I had to figure out out to turn the damn thing off. Very distracting. Problem with going to a Ranger is its quite a price hop when I don't need the 7500 tow capacity. Just personally, I want as few electronics as possible. The service of those electronics is costly. Most importantly is you can't get one and even if you find one available the dealers are charging exorbitant dealer mark-ups. So it may be a good vehicle for certain people (I'd like the mpg of the hybrid) it really comes down to finding one and being willing overpay for it. Think of it as a non awd Subaru forester.

I think everyone should do what Toyota does when it comes to safety: all trim levels get all the available safety tech! Additionally, if it has pre-collision braking, doesn't it already have the hardware it needs for adaptive cruise? It seems like they locked it out in the software just to make people buy a Lariat.

  • @erickrobertson7089
    @erickrobertson7089 Рік тому +2

At 11:30. I disagree. Much about the Maverick launch and production & ordering has been less than smooth. I tried to "reserve" one online 2 years ago but I have no idea what happened to my order. Ford apparently had enough info to sign me up for an account and Pass Points, but not the truck. Mum from my selected dealer too. Reordered in person in Sept. 22' but I now know that some Maverick customers wait more than a year and a half for their new Ford.
The company's lack of foresight on the desirability of this new model, especially given the fact that they all but withdrew from the car market and the fact that new cars and trucks are so expensive, well, what can you say? They should have realized that it would sell like hotcakes and planned accordingly. They should have managed expectations better. Both theirs and their customers as they seem to be able to let you order something but not deliver.
The allocation system favors high volume dealers. That was not supposed to be the original intent, hence you had to reserve one online only intially.
