Have you heard any ME-Geithain? I know it's a really odd speaker, but I've heard really good things about them. I've been wanting to hear a pair, but finding a demo is tough. Warner-Chappell uses them and I've saw them being used at Square Enix's studio. Expensive speakers though - even higher than Ex Machina (though I think Ex Machina exceeds with the technology).

@@TouchToneDSG Once you go over the $10k price point, I think it may get diminishing returns on how much you spend. Still, ME-Geithain makes a "cheap" $1500 (single) speaker for us plebeians. And yes, it is an awesome show.

The Pulsars are the best monitors I have ever listened to in that pricerange for sure! I’ve had them for a while now. My single most important upgrade. Takes the guessing out of mixing. ❤️❤️❤️

I have the same. Unreal! Best monitors I have ever heard. Had Focal, Adam, Event, Krk - all great and a different price point. Also had a recommendation from my Sweetwater rep. Was spot on.

Totally agree with your thoughts on the sound of these. The stereo imaging and detail are literally out of this world. I was very lucky and managed to pick up the first pair to arrive in the UK. As you say, it makes every trip to the studio a total joy! Best kept secret in monitoring.... 😬

Great take TouchTone. I appreciate you taking the time on this review. Congratulations on the purchase as well. These have been on the radar since their release but was waiting to hear a trusted source and their take in them. I’m particular I wanted to know if they were going to sound the same regardless of the volume level. And as it appears, looks like they have convinced you. I work at lower levels but need them to go as clean as possible. So now that I know that they’ll knock your socks off no matter the volume it’s a go for me. Thanks again brother for your honesty.

I got a set of Pulsars this year. They are the best monitors out there IMO. It’s hard to get a sense at NAMM or in demo rooms man. You gotta get ‘em in your space and then you know man…then you know. Clinical like ATC but powerful and inspiring like PMC and Focal.

Great review, I’m not in the market for this level of monitors yet but I will be at some point in the near future and it’s great to know these are a solid option. Getting accurate bass is the biggest thing for me. I know my monitors (Focal Solo6 Be) very well but it still takes some time to get the low end of some material just right. Thank you for a great and honest review.

Side note: Yes, monitoring is one of the most important aspects of any studio. Converters (now days) are literally the least important....like, behind cabling and chair selection.

Great minds do think alike on the sound anchor stands You're going to love them bro I wouldn't even think twice if I knew what I knew now I would have probably got him a long time ago. You know you may be right about the converters just kind of thinking how far interfaces have come

My only pet peeve about these amazing monitors is the fact that they used Phillips head screws instead of Allen screws. I know it sounds like I'm splitting hairs but it makes a big difference as far as the looks of a quality finish.
I get it because I'm like that with other things but I did not even notice that man 🤣 but I understand where you're coming from nonetheless the sound is incredible

these are the ones I've been leaning towards for a bit... if these are in my budget, then yes... my budget defiantly are currently IK Percision MTM's and a Dynaudio 18s... but if I can wangle it, it'll be these... or the lenart speakers
Hey man like I said the Dyn Audios we're good also and there's a lot of good monitors. These just checked the box for me plus more in every area that I really was looking for so I spent the extra and I don't regret it at all

@@TouchToneDSG I haven’t had any experience with monitors that use DSP yet but I do want a closed cabinet monitor to compliment my Focals. Seems like most of the high end closed cabinet monitors use DSP though. I can only imagine how blown away you were when you got those monitors. Lol. I started off with Focal twin 6’s. When I got the Trio 8’s I was like holy shit and then I got the Trio 11’s and was like holy shit again. Lol. The low end extension kept getting better and better!

Hey great question man I’ll tell you this the power and the volume are absolutely incredible when you turn them on you know that you are dealing with pro equipment I don’t even go up a quarter of my volume because there’s no need to King Kong type stuff

I felt the same when I first got mine !! Also im sure your distributor will let youknow but don't use anything like sonarkworks as it can undo the phase & time alignment that the internal dsp is doing.

Hey TouchTone, I'm curious did you ever listen to the Kali Audio IN-8 V2? If so how do they compare?
They don't sound nearly as close to these but they're pretty damn good
I almost went with the Ex Machina’s… but I choose the Genelec’s 8351b instead.
Here’s why 3 reasons I chose Genelec over Ex Machina…
1. Genelec have a digital connection.
2. Genelec have their on room correction that can be stored directly to the dsp on the speaker. Something about running SW as a separate application in the background with speakers at this price point doesn’t sound appealing.
3. Genelec hold their value.
Other than that. The Genelec have all the same pros that the Ex Machina have. But at this price point… you’d be hard pressed to find monitors that don’t sound superb. But I’m like you… I don’t mind spending this type of money on my craft. Find your forever speakers and be done with it.
Still a great choice we all win

If you're super into tech, I'm curious why you wouldn't upgrade to a nice dante interface? Personally I tihnk audio over ethernet is great but it would be nice if there were audio interfaces that used fiber / SFP / SFP+ interfaces... hell, a QSFP+ interface with 40g uplinks would be amazing

I brought in the PMC 6-2 sitting on sound anchors! I do like what I’m hearing however they have a noticeable amp hiss, do the Pulsar’s give off any amp noise.

Yeah the black owned is dope and I love that part I had a friend who had a pair of those monitors and traded them for the Focals. I heard them in person they're not bad monitors at all but they are definitely not these
