Such colorful beans, and yes, following recommended steps and not dry canning is much more gut friendly!

I am here from Constance’s channel - Cosmopolitan Cornbread. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy a creator who is real & honest with mistakes. It is very supportive to other canners, can be a learning experience, and most importantly you demonstrate the ability to assess, change direction and just keep canning! Adult Attention Disorder is real in this household! God bless you & your kitchen!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I really appreciate the acceptance. I am learning that my goof-ups have a cause. It has allowed me to forgive myself and gain confidence.

The variety and color of your beans are stunning. It is such a satisfying feeling when your product comes out of the canner. Thank you so much for sharing

Aww, thanks. I love the final minutes of canning. The sense of accomplishment is unmet.

I agree with you about the canned goods available at the store! I've canned beans for years and love having them on my shelf. So much variety is possible and so many different ways to prepare them. Thanks for sharing and being part of the collaboration.

Beans are a pantry staple for me. I use a lot of beans. I perfer beans over meat. Canning beans is more economical and you can know exactly what is being added. Beans are also a great source of shelf stable protein and fiber. Thank you for sharing.

It appears we agree. And with the prices of meat/beef going up, it's a great option to use as an extender, or instead of meat.

I grew up eating pinto beans and cornbread. Matter fact, I just made a pot of beans, but half a bag is still alot for 1 person. I need to can the rest. Awhile back I got several bags for 17 cents a bag. They were being discontinue in the store. I put them all in jars.
I good ham and bean soup is great. I use the pack of 21 flavors of beans.

I would love to have a freeze dryer so I can preserve my organically grown veggies into my retirement years. But for now, canning my own foods in glass will have to be my method. Besides, what's in mylar bags that we don't know about yet? The lower sugar, gluten-free oatmeal freezer cookies are in this video. ua-cam.com/video/fOSMj7uPITU/v-deo.htmlsi=Rfi_MCH6_UFPUw8w

I learned to do beans the wrong way. I know better now, so can them correctly now.

Mind you, I did goof up in this video. I put the correct instructions in the description. Lots of people can beans from dry beans, boiling water, and then can them. But, as I mention those photo chemicals are the issue.

I prepare a lot of black beans in 8oz jars. I find this a good size for me.
I think I will try planting a few and see how much the harvest will be?
I start every new to me recipe and only use 50% of the sugar listed.
There is a recipe for brownies using pt of black beans.

That would be a healthier snack. I should find that recipe. I have seen it. I am sure it can be converted to gluten-free easily too.

Do you plant the bean tail up or down?

    • @ButtercupAndFernHomestead
      @ButtercupAndFernHomestead  7 місяців тому +1

If you've pre-soaked or pre-sprouted them you can examine the sprout and see if it's a root or a leaf that's sprouting out. If you can't tell, lay it on its side. The plant knows what it's supposed to do.
