im here because one of my residents, who was a big runrig fan, and adored brian, sadly passed away on monday suddenly..... im listening to remember her.... every time i supported her in the morning, she would play runrig, and talk about her favourite songs.... i took her to see them in london a couple of years ago, and she made it to stirling for the final concert... im going to miss her goodnight sara xx
It's with profound sadness that I let everyone know that Canadian singer Bruce Guthro from Scottish band RUNRIG has passed away after his Battle with Cancer Sept 6 - 2023
I never got the chance to see RUNRIG due to lots of family illnesses, my son had open heart surgery when he was three and again when he was six. He is now waiting for a heart valve transplant, he is now thirty. This song brings back memories. It is beautiful, we live in Hull, England, but Scotland means the world to me., so many memories, so many good times. Martin and Ben Hall.
So much love in this song… imagining beautiful red sunsets as per the lyrics and the beautiful islands … something that my spirit yearns for and I fear I won’t fully find whilst I’m on earth … not sure where to go with this but just beautiful… I feel like a sort of connection… please help me out someone with what I’m trying to say please😂❤
When this album came out it was the first tour that Bruce was the lead singer. I went to the Apollo in Manchester and Bruce was very nervous but turned out to be a brilliant front man for twenty odd years.🎸🏴🏴🏴🏴👍🇨🇦
Pick up the broken pieces from the ground All your diminishing returns And take a good look at the master plan 'Cause down here every candle burns You are as gentle as the morning dawn Torment can't wash away your grace In search of angels with the Uist eyes So many suns light up your face Tonight the skies are red So red they fill my eyes Sundown on barren words that can't describe Your island paradise But I know that all's well with the world Don't worry anymore Don't worry now Cause another sun will rise Too many seas to cross, too many roads You leave me with my higher need This one horizon in our borrowed hour Such little lives we lead Tonight the skies are red So red they fill my eyes Sundown on barren words that can't describe Your island paradise But I know that all's well with the world Don't worry anymore Don't worry now Another sun will rise
So beautiful Brian, Malcolm and Choir…rip Bruce…and all. Thank you to all of wonderful Runrig for getting us all through many years. Wishing very Happy Summer Solstice Blessings 2024 lots of love from Britain. 💙🦢💙
Malcolm one of the best guitarists ever !!!!!!!, pure genius. What a performance, amazing song, must rank as one of the best songs Runrig ever performed.
Beautiful Brian and Malcolm - and the Craigie choir add delicious harmonies and sounds - simply beautiful. Thank you for the music, for the many years of Runrig, and for your wonderful farewell concert in Cologne - I was there. You sang this Brian, accompanied by Malcolm - it was a moment in time, a memorable experience. Thank you and wishing you all the best. XX
wow what can i say... so power full ...Brian you have a power full voice and what a mix with the girls .. Malcolm you have always been a man of emotion and how you put that energy through the guitar outstanding ... you make us proud to be Scottish!! well done to keep up the good work .... all the best from strathpeffer
Two absolutely brilliant musicians and a choir of Angels.. Who could ask for more.. A friend of mine recently died suddenly I had shared this song with her just a couple of weeks earlier, this may well have been the last song she heard.. Thank you for everything guys - "We may be bigger than you think!!" You know a good half of the effects you have had on people but the half you do not know is astounding!! How about you and Malcolm doing this Live again??? Book me a ticket!!
Almost as beautiful as nature herself. An amazing and inspiring piece of music. This takes me to lovely sunsets from my memory of my short working time I had in the outer Hebrides and on the Shetland islands. Two completely different environments, similar in nature but different in culture but both a world away from the relative metropolis of the mainland.
I didn't mention this earlier, during that period in which I thought I was losing my screws, your music also helped me to get in touch with my inner warrior, my strength. Thank you for drumming that up within me.
In Search of Angels was my very first Runrig album I ever got... I never particularly liked or disliked this song though. It had always been one of those "one in a million" song. But then I heard this version and the song suddenly jumped from the pile of very good but not very special songs into my "oh wow, I love this song" list. This version is sooo amazing. Brian's voice, Malcolms guitar, the choir. It all fits so amazingly perfect together. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I think I want this when my ashes are scattered on the water. Not that I'll be there to hear it but it may incite a tear or two in my memory - something has to!
Woran man ein überragendes Kunstwerk wie dieses Lied auf UA-cam erkennt: Am häufigsten wiederholt: Vom Anfang bis zum Ende How to recognize an overwhelming art as this song on UA-cam: Mostly repeated is at the start and lasts till the end. I love this band and I am still sad because of Bruce.
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, a real gem. But what does it mean beyond the meaning of the words? Is it a love song, or a cry for hope...?
Brian,s voice needs to be heard much more than has been the case.... It is and always has been very beautiful...but perhaps his secret is not to overexpose it...
3:13 Lol that the conductors hair has suddenly come down …😂…. Then backup… 3:28 😂…. I’ll bet she had her hair back up in a jiffy and still kept the pace… 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤…. 4:02 … and down… 😂😂…. 4:16 and up…. 😂😂😂❤❤
Is this on general release? Where can I buy it and why have I not heard this on radio? I listen to radio 2 which unfortunately has taken a nosedive recently.

RIP Bruce. started as a small town hero and left as an absolute legend

This is the perfect song for today and our son.
Calum and Rory MacDonald wrote so many, many stunning songs. This is a very beautiful version of one of them.
In loving and eternal memory RIP Bruce xxx
That smile at the end - he knew he cracked it!

Malcolm, you are a magician on your guitar, Brian, stunning rendition.

I miss Runrig 😢😢 but thanks many thanks 🙏🙏🤘🤘❤️❤️ for 40 years of love and peace in your Musik , the nest of the world 🙏🙏🥁🥁💐💐❤️❤️🥂🥂
…. The best in the world
Pick up the broken pieces from the ground
All your diminishing returns
And take a good look at the master plan
'Cause down here every candle burns
You are as gentle as the morning dawn
Torment can't wash away your grace
In search of angels with the Uist eyes
So many suns light up your face
Tonight the skies are red
So red they fill my eyes
Sundown on barren words that can't describe
Your island paradise
But I know that all's well with the world
Don't worry anymore
Don't worry now
Cause another sun will rise
Too many seas to cross, too many roads
You leave me with my higher need
This one horizon in our borrowed hour
Such little lives we lead
Tonight the skies are red
So red they fill my eyes
Sundown on barren words that can't describe
Your island paradise
But I know that all's well with the world
Don't worry anymore
Don't worry now
Another sun will rise
Just beautiful

Woran man ein überragendes Kunstwerk wie dieses Lied auf UA-cam erkennt: Am häufigsten wiederholt: Vom Anfang bis zum Ende
How to recognize an overwhelming art as this song on UA-cam: Mostly repeated is at the start and lasts till the end.
I love this band and I am still sad because of Bruce.
amazing
🤩 Amazing!
Gorgeous cover
Cover? Brian and Malcolm are members of Runrig. And together with this choir - beautiful !!!
Who had the inspiration for this recording? I cannot stop playing it. Must get it on disc. I reckon this would have won us the Eurovision contest!
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, a real gem.
But what does it mean beyond the meaning of the words? Is it a love song, or a cry for hope...?
wunderschön
I have to say, great vocalist that Bruce Guthro is, this version knocks Bruce out the park! Perfect performance!
Different voices but both brilliant.
Brian,s voice needs to be heard much more than has been the case.... It is and always has been very beautiful...but perhaps his secret is not to overexpose it...
It's Bruce guthro, and I'm pretty sure rory mcdonald did original vocals from m the album, and not Bruce.
Great! Runrig was the best time....but now look forward.....and good luck. But i don't care....
Can I please ask permission for my choir to sing this beautiful song. Please. Xxxx
Just got Rurrig "Rarities" boxed set from Sony Germany. This video is on DVD 2 - Live & Promos. Wonderful, wonderful. Where was it recorded ?
3:13 Lol that the conductors hair has suddenly come down …😂…. Then backup… 3:28 😂…. I’ll bet she had her hair back up in a jiffy and still kept the pace… 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤…. 4:02 … and down… 😂😂…. 4:16 and up…. 😂😂😂❤❤

Is this on general release? Where can I buy it and why have I not heard this on radio? I listen to radio 2 which unfortunately has taken a nosedive recently.
What tuning is this in? I can't quite figure it out.
Is Malcolm using standard tuning? I can't make out that bass note but it sounds like g sharp
from spain om 5**********
So this is from “50 great songs”. Is the rest of that compilation also reworkings of previous Runrig songs?
Oi! "Music in Scotland!" You still about? I think I want to speak to you! Hope you got this on disc! Or I am open to other options.
Its comparable with Katie Melua's Project with the Gori Women's Choir. Just imagine, she would sing it with that choir....
Who wrote this song?
Rory MacDonald (Runrig)
@@burrowfields Thanks. So these boys were not just good musicians but great composers.
