This looks like it's set in a timeline where Homura is an haute couture model with a million dollar face, yet she falls instantly for Madoka's down-to-earth smile and never ending optimism. Mami and her mysterious sidekick "Charlotte" are the top hitmen for a coke baron in Miami (it is the 80's after all.) Kyouko's an underground beatnik artist who has somehow found herself in a strange relationship with a straight (but not too straight) laced girl named Sayaka. Sayaka drives her insane with her constant moral soap boxes, but there is something about her unshakeable commitment to doing what's right that irresistibly draws Kyouko ever closer to her. It may be a crazy, messy world, but it's a world worth protecting.
I'm now imagining Charlotte as some kind of russian experiment child. Like, if a bunch of kids were born and raised in captivity, to be assassins/disposable warriors
Honestly, I think that it belongs to the kind of series that not everybody would like. It isn't a common anime series, it is very special. But to be honest (again), I would not hesitate to recommend it. The series has a cult status in the anime community and it is considered a masterpiece by a lot of people. In my opinion, it is a mandatory viewing series. Totally recommended.
There are many reasons to watch it The completely unique artstyle, a story/script that completely redefined a genre, and the absolute nirvana that is the music. That said, it is, and remains to be, a unique kind of media that not everyone will like. And it's almost impossible to tell someone whether they would or not. Hence I can only say that you really should try it. One warning/notice though, there's a 13 episode series, or a two movies- compendium. the 2 movies cover the entire 13 episodes, and lose very little in terms of context and depth. The movies also have updated visuals and new soundtrack. Since 13 episodes are cramped into throughly 4 hours, there's slightly less nuance in dialogue and thus the main story is set to turbo (not in a negative way). I considered the movies to be like an espresso, since the story was compressed without losing any value, it all came in twice as hard. I leave it up to you which version you prefer (but if you don't, I'd recommend watching both versions, the original show first)

It depends on the quality you watch at. At 144p the music becomes muddled in a most unpleasant way so folks with limited data are kinda screwed. Most music isn't affected at all by video quality, but Astrophysics gets hit hard.

If you wish to do so, the third movie has some great tracks. My personal favorite is misterioso, which is honestly an under appreciated gem of a song when it comes to covers. Rebellion has a lot of music you can do if you ever want to.
I agree with you, but my favourite track is Nightmare Ballet. I feel that Rebellion had weaknesses that the series didn't have, such as the pacing and exposition. Maybe it's why rebellion is sometimes looked over by some fans. It gave a very different feeling.
Rebellion was amazing... hands down my favorite movie of all time. Then again I was literally tripping on acid the fourth time I saw it, so... I had a religious experience.

Ah, yes, who could forget the ending of Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Adolescence of Madoka, where we had such iconic moments like Sayaka drowning, Hitomi holding a razor against Mami's throat and Kyoko turning into a car so the lesbians could escape.
