You're so underrated. I know you've had a few (very good) vids blow up, but your stuff is honestly so good for anyone who appreciates that sort of synthwave music. The fact that the art matches the music so well is the cherry on top; the vibes are unreal.
Following this album and its individual songs be born has been an amazing experience for me. After I discovered the first one and looped it for a couple of days, they have been popping in my youtube feed, sometimes merely minutes after they were published, because this devil of a company seems to really know what I want. Every time, I've been enamored by the latest one and discussed it fondly with other old farts with similar tastes. This kind of classic electronic music holds deep inherent nostalgia, and the artificial singing voice of a vocaloid evokes a vivid vision of surreal retro-futurism, describing the future I hoped to see when I was a child, but which was never realized. Even though every small part of the album is magnificent, it still manages to be more than its parts. I haven't felt this about music in a long time.
Small question though, what did people in the 80s expect the future to look like? Like, what was the synthwave supposed to represent? Did you expect neon everywhere (I mean, neon signs are everywhere), or like flying cars (and their plethora of infrastructure problems lol)? I mean, I don't really consider synthwave or future-core to be really that futuristic, technically they were synthesized using current technology. But I think I get what you're getting at. However, there is good news as well. With the advances in technology (VR, AR & AI), the 80s future might somewhat become true (pretty sure the neon sun thing is in VR Chat lol). Anyways, What I'm trying to get at is. Did the present live up to your expectations of the future? And what do you think about the present? And what are your thoughts on the future now? [P.S sorry for the long comment]
@@E.h.a.n I appreciate that you took your time to reply, especially after seeing that this comment was more than a year old. To honour that, I will answer in the best and most honest way I possible can. I am not yet old, in the true sense of the word, but certainly older than you are, and most likely significantly older than Astrophysics is. I listened to the songs he covers when they were new, and in addition to that, I listened to what is now called scene music - tunes were created on the C64, Amiga and early Intel PCs. Synthwave is simply what I heard and listened to when I watched demos, movies, specific TV shows, or simply played the games of that time. To me, it is characterized by its spirit - a limited amount of memory space for melody data and samples, that those computers constrained as a feature of their very nature, and the conventions concurrent synthesizers and composers adapted to circumvent said restrictions. It simply is the sound of those years in the truest sense of the word - what the composers of the time could CONCEIVE to be possible to express using the hardware, software and cultural limitations of the time, and by the artistic precedents available, all of which would later evolve. None of us believed in flying cars or anything of the sort, but we kind of expected much of the corporate culture that is now seen in films like Alien and The Network and the Cyberpunk roleplaying game to be a realistic threat. Each of those was written by visionaries of the time who saw beyond what was truly apparent - corporations ruling the world, personal insignificance in the face of underlying anarchy in very constricting societies and a lack of control except for that which could be wrested by oneself from the outlying sphere of influence by self-determination, violence and corruption. However bleak, fake and edgy that sounds, it was a slippery, yet shallow slope, which most still recognized as a very real threat. Despite knowing this, I can attest that at least I didn't expect the very worst aspects of corporate culture to become the most dominant. Thirty years ago, no-one I had happened to read, meet or hear about, saw the power of algorithm technology and mathematics as the oppressive tools they ended up being. Nothing prepared us for the future which abuses human volition and attention span in the worst possible way - the all-encompassing monopoly over human interests that something like Twitter, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram thrive on. In 1984, Winston places hairs and dust over the hinges of his closets to check for outside interference, but the actual control the aforementioned media hold over the public sphere is beyond anything we thought possible in our most pessimistic, lackadaisical visions of the future. I can assure that absolutely no-one who lived through the rise of the Internet could both conjure up a superhuman AI which had the power and reach those companies now possess over people, and truly believe in it coming to pass. Of my generation, even fewer can comfortably label themselves as progressives concerning these technologies and hope for the best - as all of us have lived through the expanding spheres of societal interaction - first through BBS's, then through internet boards and finally through global instant unfiltered communication - seeing how disastrous the effects it has on the human psyche. Regardless, synthwave, to me, is a representation of the future - the dystopian, yet somehow familiar and mellow cyberpunk worlds, which never came to be, but which still managed to be less dystopian than the ones that actually came to be. There are no words to express my immense regret over how much more I would prefer to live in the Ghost in the Shell universe or the Bubblegum Crisis universe or the World of Noon universe or the RSU universe, than the one I ended up living in. I know that I will leave this world thoroughly unfulfilled, but hopefully your generation can reverse the trend. (edit): I was pretty drunk when I wrote this. I'm so grateful for finding your channel, thank you Astro for sharing your amazing work, really makes me company when studying or preparing for work, or just to chill :)
Really awesome vibes on that album, all great stuff
thanks astro
He draws the art himself?
No, he gave credits to the artist in the description section. Still a great musician, that requests art that fits well to his remixes
most of it yeah
So this popped up on my friend's homepage...and it's a blessing
A friend linked me to the bandcamp, and just now youtub pops this album in my feed. Great times! I really like your music
Listening to this masterpiece on repeat the whole morning. Absolutely love your music not only the Miku covers. My most favourite song is Nothingness in empty space. Just wanted to share my love for your music here. :)
dude, I almos cry and idk why...
this is so cathartic
NGL this is some of the cleanest sounding miku in English has ever sounded. I keep coming back and it's just as good as the first listen AAAA 💕
Loved all your miku stuff and really love this, hope you continue to incorporate vocaloid into your music, great stuff as always.
Yo this is a dub. Like this once it gets insanely popular lads. This is ahead of the curve
Sheeesh, I was able to listen to the whole playlist without skipping. This is such a gem.
Miku has *aesthetically* descended upon mere mortals to bless this miserable world once more
This album breathes new life into these songs. Bizarre Love Triangle, Enjoy the Silence, Nightcall and Save your Tears really got me.
Thank you so much for all these covers, definitely buying the album.
Just bought the Album. Always glad to support something I love. Keep up the great work, your music is something I'm always looking forward to/
Absolutely living off of this rendition of bizarre love triangle. This is unreal, thank you for your tunes!
Man, I really loved this album. Every single cover featuring Miku you made was an instant like and favourite. Keep up the retro vibes!
this video drove the most traffic to my miku album, i am forever grateful
[PT] Cara, eu AMO Enjoy the Silence, eu tenho uma coleção num HD velho só de covers e versões , e fiz questão de colocar a sua versão nele, eu simplesmente amo essa música.
[en -WIP] Man really love Enjoy the Silence, i still have a collection of covers and versions on a old HD, and i add yours....

You are my hero for making this album
The only bad thing about this album is that it ends
Это потрясающе. Спасибо вам за эту восхитительную музыку

This album is a certified hood classic
you are too underrated. Definitely one of my favourite artists.
this was a great album, and i hope it gets uploaded to spotify at some point. I think you did great with all of these songs and would love to see more like it someday.
I've been following you since you started Madoka covers and I'm really impressed at how you've progressed. Those covers are all amazing and your use of English Hatsune Miku is very good!
Please consider uploading it to spotify, I'd like to listen to Miku's Instant Crush when I leave work
Your joke was an entire miku album?????
Freakin legend
that Head over Heels cover is magical
Beatiful work! I enjoyed both the rearrangement on music and Miku's voiceline delivery - they just fit so good together!
The transition to the last song was so smooth holy hecc
I never knew I needed this genre until I listened to the whole album and fell in love
Шикарное звучание, отличная работа!
That bass in Bizarre Love Triangle is amazing
this album has been my trust companion through several exams by now
this is my favorite thing for awhile
this album is genuinely beautiful. thank you for making all these covers. a lot of these songs are ones that have a lot of emotional meaning to me and to have them so beautifully sung by miku makes them even more special. her voice is so well suited for this music and the tuning is incredible. excellent work, i will be listening to these on repeat for years to come
Got damn I wasn't prepared for this so soon
simply amazing... miku's voice is so soothing plus your edition is nuts.. enjoy the silence and instant crush are godlike
