WOWSERS Daz :-D what an AWESOME beautiful spiky Beast haha :-D we absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it, and the name suits it perfectly hahaha as it sure would molest anyone that gets near to it haha, Hans has one he brought over from Sweden its in the polytunnel and we have it at the back on the table with the other Cylindropuntias and Tephros and it grabs us every time we looked at it haha, but we LOVE them and yours has even longer awesome spines than Hans's, absolutely AWESOME unboxing video and filming Daz and awwww thanks so much for the credits at the end, and thanks so much for sharing your vicious and very spiny beautiful new Beast with us Daz, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a fantastic new week ahead XXXX
Thank you so much, Lyn 😊 Yeah the name suits it perfectly haha. That’s awesome you have one of these as well. I’ve been getting more into the Opuntia type cacti recently. I don’t know why, they’ve just started to appeal to me more for some reason lol. Thank you so much for watching and commenting as always, Lyn. And thank you so much again for your generous donation on BMC the other day ❤️ Have a wonderful day and new week from Edith & myself to you and Hans ❤️🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Yep!! That's a wicked one!!! Hahaha!! I think for safeties sake I might have given a wider pot. That one looks like it's ready to bite!!! I remember from both Sonoran and Mojave deserts our shoes used to pick pieces of different chollas. Had a lady I did yard work for when I lived in Tucson as a kid, she wanted a full size cholla ( cylindropuntia fulgida) planted under her bedroom window cause she had prowler. So I had to dig one from the wash ( dry creek bed) next to her house. What a job!!! Had them in my knees and hands!! I wouldn't do it again if I had to!!! Ouch!!!! Hahaha!!! Yep , got fond memories of these guys!!! Thanks for sharing Daz!!! Great job handling that little monster!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, to the UK 🇬🇧 and Singapore 🇸🇬 have a wonderful week ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌿🌻🌳🌸🍀🌴🌾💐🌱🌷🌹😃👍
Thank you so much, Clyde 😊 I’m probably going to keep this plant small. I don’t want it growing into a big bush lol. Yeah these and those chollas would certainly make a good deterrent to anyone snooping around if you had them planted outside haha. Thank you for watching and commenting my friend. Have a wonderful day and week from Edith & myself to you and Deb 🌵☀️🌸🌺🌼🏜
Nice unboxing video Daz! I love all Opuntias. Well until now. I'm quite terrified of this Molesta! You did an excellent job of potting up the plant and the part that broke off. Thank you for sharing and sending you and Edith peace, love and happiness for a nice evening and a Wonderful upcoming week my friend!
Haha thank you so much, Jeff 😊 Hopefully the branch that came off roots up nicely. Thank you for watching and commenting my friend. Have a wonderful day and new week from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Haha thanks so much, Ana 😊 Yeah I was a bit apprehensive unboxing this one, but it all went well. Thank you for watching and commenting as always. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜☕️
Lovely plant Daz 😎 I've got a very similar one that hasn't got a label, gonna have to have a closer look. It's a good one to hide in someone's underpant draw 😁 Hope you and Edith have a lovely evening my friend 😊😊🌵🌵
Ah that's awesome if you have this one too, Ziggy. If it turns out not to be, then the one I'm rooting up has your name on it 😁 Haha yeah it's a good one for hiding in a box and getting someone to put their hand in without looking to guess what the object is! 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting my friend. Have a lovely evening from Edith & myself 🌵☀🌺🌸🌼🏜
That's a really spiky cactus...I would not even dare touch it! But you did a great job potting them up, they look beautiful now! Thanks for sharing! Have a great afternoon and evening Daz and Edith!
Thank you so much, Sylvia 😊 It is a bit of a beast haha. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching and commenting as always. Have a wonderful day and week from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Thank you so much, Justin 😊 Hopefully I don’t regret buying it haha. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day and week from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜
That was alot of spines, its going to be a right beast when it gets bigger! I was expecting the roots to be a lot thicker, interesting to see lots of fine roots 😄 enjoyed the video 😀🌵
Thank you so much, Claire 😊 I might keep this relatively small, though. I don’t want it attacking me every time I go in the greenhouse 😅 Thank you for watching and commenting as always. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌸🌺🌼🏜
Hi there, just dropping in to tell you I really enjoy your videos and your plant collection! I wasn't sold on this plant until your presentation of it at the end, it is fierce isn't it? Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much, glad you enjoy the videos 😊 Yeah it’s pretty fierce, but I think there’s way more fierce ones. I’d probably give this a 7 out of 10 for ferocity lol. Thank you for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜
That sure is a prickly one😅👹It reminds me when I used to grow Tephrocacti, and when I bumped my hand into them the spines would stick in my skin. I even had an Opuntia microdasys years ago, and one day I was going to work and noticed a terrible itch in my underwear😰I stopped at every toilet to investigate, but couldn't find anything. It wasn't until I got home that my wife said that my underwear blew off the line and onto my Opuntia😂🙌
Thank you so much, Newman 😊 Ouch lol. That must have been pretty uncomfortable 😅 Bad enough when the spines and glochids get into your fingers! Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Chollas technically are Cylindropuntia. The teddy-bear cholla I mentioned in the video is Cylindropuntia bigelovii and I think the jumping cholla is Cylindropuntia fulgida. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀🌺🌸🌼🏜
Thank you so much, Rhea 😊 It’s definitely one of the spikiest I have now haha. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Oh wow! I love, totally looove, the colours of the spines😃🧡🙌! 'Molesta' means 'Annoying' in spanish, hahaha😂, so well named the species 😝. Great purchase👌☺️👏👏👏💞!
Thank you so much again, Vanesa 😊 Haha a perfect name for it then! Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a lovely evening from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜
Interesting video. Might leave this one till I have more experience. I am low on the learning curve. With spring approaching I will be repotting a few of my cacti soon and gain a little experience. Love the cinematics at the end of your videos
Thank you so much, Ted 😊 Despite how vicious it looks it’s really not that bad. A very easy plant to grow, too. Just likes a lot of sun and protection from frost in the winter. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day and new week from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌸🌼🏜
That looks like it would put a serious hurting on a person, one of the more interesting cacti in my opinion, I have a Cylindropuntia cylindrica, made the mistake of grabbing a small cutting with my fingers, let's just say I have a very, very healthy respect for that cacti now. And yes, please keep us updated on it's progress, you and Edith have a great week.
Thank you so much, David 😊 I’ll have to look that one up, might add it to the collection as well lol. Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜
Oh yes... Teddy-bear cholla... I think everyone knows it by reputation and from David Attenborough's video: ua-cam.com/video/qK4G2KpmqFU/v-deo.html Your molesta may have the same type of spines but less densely distributed. It would be interesting to see one them in high magnification, if you happen to have access to a microscope... The question is how big it will grow? That is, at which point you will not be able to handle this cactus any more... ;-)
Yeah I’ve seen that video a few times. I don’t think I want one of those in the collection lol. Would be cool to see the spines under a microscope. I’ll probably keep this plant relatively small, I can always prune it and with how sought after it is here I can sell the cuttings. Thanks for watching and commenting 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Skin-crawling unboxing! 😬 You have started to collect all these ferociously spined cacti, Sweetheart. These type of plants are for the brave only. 🤣 I am not at that level yet. Loved watching with you though. Awesome video! ❤️🌺🌼🌸💚
Haha thank you so much my love 🥰 Yeah I don’t why, but I’m getting more into these Opuntia type cacti lol. Well the smaller growing ones at least. Loved watching with you too babe ❤️ Thank you for all your love, support and encouragement as always ❤️🌵🤗😘🌵❤️
