Air Force Special Warfare consists of four specialties: Combat Control (CCT), Pararescue (PJ), Special Reconnaissance (SR) and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP). The Airmen who make up Special Warfare are the most specialized warriors on the planet. They are the ones other special forces look to when the mission calls for their unique skills and fearless commitment. A job for the mentally tough and physically strong, these elite heroes go where others won’t because they’re trained to do what others can’t.
〰️ Pararescue (PJ): These Airmen are skilled parachutists, scuba divers and rock climbers, and they are even arctic-trained in order to access any environment to rescue and medically treat downed military personnel all over the world. (TSgt Kris Tomes, Pararescueman)
〰️ Tactical Air Control Party (TACP): These Airmen have the incredible responsibility of calling in an air strike on the right target at just the right time. (TSgt Jaciel Suarez-Figueroa, Tactical Air Control Party Specialist)
〰️ Special Reconnaissance (SR): These Airmen deploy deep behind enemy lines to collect and exploit key information, develop targets, and tilt the battlespace in our favor. (TSgt Bryan Fuentes, Special Reconnaissance)
〰️ Combat Control (CCT): These Airmen are trained in a wide range of skills, including scuba, parachuting and snowmobiling, as well as being FAA-certified air traffic controllers in order to establish air control and provide combat support on missions all over the globe. (TSgt Ethan Stevens, Combat Controller)

@J M Everything you just said here, is some of the most imbecilic nonsense I’ve ever had the displeasure to read.
Not only are you wrong, but you are also ignorant. Please educate yourself, before you spout nonsense about things you know nothing about, in the future.
@J M ...BTW, ex-mil is in high demand for all technical career fields in the civilian world. The exception is morons who screw up and get booted out.
I have a ton of questions, I plan on joining the ANG or Reserve team this November, Id like to become a PJ, been a dream of mine for awhile. How long are deployments for ANG PJ and how long are deployments for Reserve PJ ? Does one deploy more than the other ? Also is there any real difference between RQS and STS ? or is it pretty much the same job. Id preferably like to focus more on rescue and not attaching to another team as often as I have heard STS does. But I've also heard small talk from PJ's saying there is really no difference between RQS and STS. What happens if you get failed out on an event ? how long until you can roll back through and re-attempt the course ? If you fail out on an event and you have to leave because of the failed event can you start over again on the next class or are you going to have to work another job in the military four years down the road and than have to sign a new military contract ? or could I re roll into the next class immediately after getting dropped on the first one(if this happens) ? What is the pass rate after passing through Assessment and Selection statistics wise ? If you pass basic sw prep and a&s, what is the pass rate for the pipeline, are you pretty much a guaranteed PJ once you ride the pipeline unless you do something stupid ? And for ANG and Reserve if there is a slot available for PJ and you make it through you are a guaranteed PJ correct? I heard with the new system for the Air Force they get to determine if they think your a better candidate for CCT, TACP, SR, or PJ. Thank you
You need to pick a Reserve or Guard unit. From there, you’ll try out at that unit, pass an interview with the team that is there. Overseas deployments for these teams, Reserve and Guard, are the same as if you were Active Duty. The length depends on your position on the team - are you a team member, leader, certain aspects. It could go from 60-120 days, and also depends on the aircraft availability to get out of that country. Sometimes a deployment may be three months but you may not be able to leave until two months later if an aircraft can’t get out of there. The difference between RQS (rescue) and STS (special tactics) is the mission. As special tactics you’re attached to teams and sometimes the only PJ. For example, a Reserve rescue PJ, you could be doing rescue missions in Alaska and the other half of your team is deployed on the combat side. You are most likely doing missions with other PJs and attached to SEAL teams or special forces teams.- TSgt Tomes
@@USAirForceRecruiting How do you go about getting an interview ?

◼ Special Warfare Operator Enlistment is the single process to enter all Special Warfare (PJ, CCT, SR, and TACP).
The Special Warfare Operator Enlistment gives both applicant and the Air Force, the time and opportunity to find the warriors’ greatest calling. The SWOE process provides more than entrance exams and second-hand info to best guide them on their Special Warfare journey.
SWOE will match Special Warfare candidates to specific Special Warfare careers (CCT, PJ, TACP, and SR) based on candidate performance, candidate preference, and the needs of the Air Force to maximize Special Warfare career field distribution to meet Air Force requirements.
Benefits:
◼ Allows candidates to make a more informed career decision after months of education, training, development, and mentorship.
◼ Baselines Special Warfare enlistment standards to eliminate confusion and open up a large pool of potential candidates
◼ Creates unity and team cohesion among candidates

@@USAirForceRecruiting Thank you for the detailed reply, Don! I'm currently a CAP cadet so I'm very interested in the Air Force.
Yes you can. Civilians can get contracts prior to going to BMT. Civilians who want to join one of these four special warfare (SW) career fields should talk to their recruiter about the SW Operator Enlistment Vectoring program. The SWOE-V program centers on a “coach-develop-mentor” mindset that begins in the pre-accession phase where recruiting development teams identify potential SW operators and begin the process to prepare them for the rigors of the special warfare training pipeline and later, their designated career field. Recruits selected for SWOE-V attend BMT before they start their training in SW.- TSgt Jaciel Suarez-Figueroa
Do crosstrainess go to SW prep or just straight to A&S?
Special warfare prep
When you are going through the application process you will want to inquire with the SW team. I believe members go to A&S but they will be able to provide that information to you. Our recruiters do not work with active duty Air Force members applying for cross training.

Can you join if your half color blind and have history of stomach problems but could be fixed with medication? Thanks
This could potentially be medically disqualifying. However, the doctor at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) makes that determination. Your local recruiter can have your medical records for this condition prescreened by the doctor at MEPS for a preliminary ruling in your particular situation. It is routine during the screening process that all applicants are asked in-depth questions about their medical history. Just like other medical matters such as broken bones or asthma, we would request medical paperwork for the CMO to review for a determination.

Im married and have a child how often can they visit me during the pj pipeline?
By Federal Law you must be at least age 17 with parental consent and at least a junior to have an appointment or to join the Air Force. However, your daughter may speak to recruiters when they come to her high school.
While your daughter is still too young to enlist into the Air Force, it is never too early to start preparing. There are a few things she can do now to prepare for once she reaches the required age. First study hard and graduate from high school. Get the best grades you can in all subjects especially English, Math and Science. This will help her improve her score on the ASVAB test which is required for enlistment. Say no to drugs and get an early start on physical conditioning are important steps in the right direction. And stay out of trouble. Law violations can delay and in some cases will disqualify you from joining the Air Force and taking advantage of the opportunities available. Starting early and being prepared are her best shot. Stay in contact with your Guidance Counselor and maybe we will see you in a few years.
Your daughter may research more information about the Air Force on our site of www.airforce.com to include benefits like education, careers, training, lifestyle, requirements, etc.
There is also the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) portion that answers a lot of the most common questions asked: www.airforce.com/frequently-asked-questions/

Spencer, Airman may request from their commander at tech school to have their spouse/family moved there. It is completely up to their commander if their spouse/family will be allowed to move to the technical school location. There is no guarantee the commander will approve the move. Anything less than 20 weeks the Air Force will not pay to move the Airman’s family.
If there are any breaks in training your family might be able to visit you during those breaks.
