My recommendations for Floris "Office Scent"?
    1. Elite
    2. Santal
    3. Limes, or 1962.
Elite is an "old school" Fougere, having been released in 1980, and that may degrade its appropriateness in some peoples eyes. But it's a beautiful, somewhat soapy Fougere and I think its appropriate, especially for a "throw back" scent.

I've always been scared to travel with a DE razor in my carry-on, but it is good to know that packing one's blades separately doesn't prove to be an issue.

I've been catching up on older videos and after watching this shaving segment I pulled out my Merkur adjustable razor and gave it another try. I tried it years ago and I looked like I was attacked by a bear. Today went smoothly and I had a great shave. Thank you Kirby for sparking my interest again!

Only time I had a problem with, ahem, 'Security' and DE blades was when I had 5 packs of 5 blades in my carry-on. Back in the old days (read pre Feb 2020) having a few DE blades for personal use in carry-on was never an issue and intelligent security (excuse oxymoron) were cool with it. Oh, side fact - generally the 2nd or 3rd shave with a DE blade is better than the 1st as the factory hard edge is gone so the blade is much smoother.

I have several high end badgers from makers like Thater, Savile Row and Simpson’s and they’re each very different. My Thater has the knot set in a little deeper, “choking up” on the hairs and giving the silvertip knot extra backbone and scrubbiness. I use it for loading hard soap off the puck like Tabac or one of my artisan soaps from Declaration, A&E or Barrister & Mann etc.
Generally though, I use the newer synthetic knots from makers like PAA and RazoRock. I get better lather faster than with my heritage badgers, and no animals are killed to make the brush. The fact that a super high quality grooming experience can be had with a sub-$20 synthetic brush is a modern miracle. I love using TOBS or Geo F Trumper’s creams as a preshave and choosing a complementary scented soap loaded on the brush and lathered together directly on the face. Face lathering can’t produce as creamy a lather as bowl lathering but the working of the quality soaps and creams directly on the face with a soft brush adds benefits that more than outweigh the loss in creaminess from skipping the lather bowl. I’m a committed face latherer now.
I still use my fancy badgers. But my favorite is a huge 30mm synthetic tuxedo knot with a handle from AP Shave Co. it’s just an awesome brush. It was under $30.
You might love badger like so many other guys and that’s great. But I’m so glad I checked out the newest generation of synthetic shaving knots. They’re incredibly good.
TOBS, Trumper’s and D. R. Harris all buy their shave cream base from Creightons and add scent (and color at GFT). The Body Shop sells a cream with maca root that uses the same Creightons base cream. It really comes down to your favorite scent, and the variety is fantastic. My favorites from TOBS are the sandalwood (of course), the grapefruit (!) and their “Royal Forest,” which is a shameless dupe of Creed Aventus. I love Trumper’s Limes, and Harris’ Marlborough is an excellent tobacco based scent.
There are so many greats that you are allowed to absolutely hate the ones I love, and there will still be many others you will love.

Been once to Floris and I bought "Mahon Leather" which you mentioned - really like it and even though I bought it in 2013 I still have it since I mainly use it for special occasions due to it's sophisticated fragrance.

The three T’s are all better than most US drug store products, though Aveeno gel is excellent. My preferred cream is Castle Forbes lime; a touch less creamy than the three T’s, but unparalleled scent. Lastly, though it is old school and not so trendy, Proraso products are excellent.

Use Taylor’s with a brush anyway. You can stick with your current razor. A DE razor will upgrade your shave for sure, but a brush and a tub of TOBS cream is a much bigger jump in quality of the experience.
For an even bigger jump, buy a synthetic brush from Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, a Kaizen 2 soap from Ariana & Evans, and learn to lather it properly. You will get up 5 minutes earlier just so you can have that experience.
      You’re welcome.
I can send soap samples-I have scores of amazing shave soaps.

I've been DE 4 months now. I can't say in all honesty that it's better than a mack3. Certainly cheaper, but slower. Maybe it's my blades, maybe it's my soap. I don't know really.
I will say that, though slower, its akin to a mindfulness exercise; relaxing.

Huh..the carry on issue with the DE blades is a neat little tidbit, though it's not really all that relevant to me at the moment. I actually prefer a full beard and mustache so I only really use my safety razor or replaceable straight edge (the type that can use broken in half DE blades) for keeping things lined up and neat. I got a shave at the start of 2020 (just before the mask mandates hit everywhere in the US actually..by like 2 weeks) to kick a classic wet shave off my bucket list and I kept shaved for a good chunk of the last 2 years, and I decided to grow my beard back this year..it's gonna take a bit to get it back to how I had it..that was 5 years of growing I had shaved off. Shame where I live there aren't places that can style a mustache..oh sure there are some places I can go that'll line up a beard and mustache, give'em a trim too, but I'm not getting any help in turning this thing into a handlebar from a stylist that's less than 3 hours away from what I can search online for in my area.

I dab the cream on my face in a few places, then lather on my face.
I bought 100 Merkur blades several years ago and am just about to run out. I can only imagine how much money I've saved on cartridges, even after considering the investment in razor and brush.
