Sloth's shout of "Hey you guys!" is a reference to _The Electric Company,_ a show on Public Television in the 1970s and early '80s that used sketches and songs to teach the basics of reading. Rita Moreno would shout those words at the start of every episode.
Loved this movie as a kid. Still enjoy it for the nostalgia factor and its got enough heart warming moments in it to still appreciate as an adult. But you're right, this is solidly in the kids movie genre. There's certain aspects of the film that don't work as well as they did when I was young. But with that said, I still always finish the film feeling good whenever I do watch it.
No, you can't ignite gasoline by shooting it. Probably. Handgun bullets are either lead or copper coated lead. Lead doesn't spark. Copper can, but it takes a lot more than iron or steel. Like, if you held a copper pipe on a belt sander, you might get some sparks. Shooting onto pavement won't do it. (There are steel bullets for piercing armor, but these are rifle bullets, which have a smaller cross section and higher velocity. They wouldn't be much good in a handgun, and it's unlikely the Fratelli's would have had them anyway.) But... gunpowder doesn't burn all at once. Pistol powered burns fast, but the muzzle flash from guns firing at night is the powder that is still burning at it leaves the barrel. From that distance, it's possible that some of the still burning powder would have reached the gasoline. But... gasoline isn't actually flammable. The vapor above it is. Gasoline has a very low flashpoint, so an ignitable vapor is nearly always present in a confined area. The hot sparks would have had to linger in the vapor long enough to ignite it, and that's probably not going to happen. They tried to ignite a trail of gasoline with a lit cigarette on Mythbusters and couldn't do it. If a cigarette can't do it, I don't think muzzle flash will either.
Such a great classic! A very young Thanos and a young Samwise Gamgee in the same film. Who would've thought? Keri Green can be seen in the film "Lucas" with Corey Haim. Martha Plimpton (her glasses broke) can be seen in the Steve Martin, Keanu Reeves movie "Parenthood." This film totally reminds me of Indiana Jones. Phys Ed aka Physical Education or P.E. his reference meant that his breath smelled like a boys' locker room aka stinky and sweaty. There was a deleted scene from the original movie that I believe can be found in the extended or director's cut: an Octopus.

Fun Fact: Mikey was Sam in Lord of the Rings and Mikey’s older brother(aka “Brand”, with the headband) also = Thanos(Avengers Infinity War & Endgame) and Cable(Deadpool 2). That’s the short list tho, bc a lot of the people involved with this film(incl the director) have done some amazing work in and out of Hollywood since “The Goonies”.
Did you notice that when Chunk was calling the cops and the cop was talking about Chunk's story of a bunch of small scary creatures taking over the town and causing mischief? He was talking about the movie Gremlins.
Gremlins and the Gonnies we're both products of Warner Brothers and Amblin Entertainment, and Chris Columbus was there writer for the Goonies and he wrote the screenplay for Gremlins.
When my wife & I saw this movie, we never would have guessed that the kid, Brand (Josh Brolin) would grow up to be Cable in Deadpool 2 and Thanos. One of my favorites as a kid this movie, me and my friends wanted to be The Goonies so bad. Still love this movie today it has a special place in my heart.
When this was originally released on VHS, a cousin of mine (with his two even younger brothers) got hold of a tape and watched it at least once a day for months. Fantastic movie for kids and grown ups alike. Decades later, this also brings memories of the 80s, my childhood decade, for the good and the bad. I will tell you one good though it had for everyone, fantastic movies.
A childhood favorite. I've watched Goonies too many times to count over the years. Data is easily my favorite (but they are all fantastic in their roles). I love his gadgets. "It's our time! Our time down here!" That speech is practically an audition tape for Sean Astin to one day pull off Samwise's beautiful speeches in Lord of the Rings.
the town the movie was filmed in has a long & famous history in cinema. The police station the villains escaped from is now a museum dedicated to the film history of Astoria, Oregon. Even the goonies house is real, but it's privately hidden off the street.
Astoria to me is that one place id love to live, one day... or at least stay in for a while, or hell just visit. Always find those wet coastal alpine areas and towns like that very appealing (reminds me of a more extreme looking version of my own home town, coastal, partially wooded with big swings in weather)). But I doubt it looks much like it does in the movie these days, 40 years can change alot.
Reminds me of my hometown of Beaufort, SC. Loads of films have been filmed here. (Forest Gump, GI Jane, The Fugitive, The Big Chill, The Great Santini, The Prince Of Tides to name a few.)
I went to Berkeley during the early ‘90s, and *hadn’t* known that Jeff Cohen was not only a student during the same few years, but was our student body president, and he’d do the Truffle Shuffle during our school football games (to amazing fanfare).. Sad I missed out..
Seeing Corey Feldman reminds me of a couple other films you really oughtta react to: Stand by Me (1986) and The Lost Boys (1987). Stand by Me is a coming-of-age film based on a novella by Stephen King. Along with Corey Feldman, it also stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Jerry O'Connell, and Kiefer Sutherland. Personally, Stand by Me is my favorite coming-of-age film, ever. The Lost Boys is a supernatural comedy horror film. The Lost Boys was the first film in which Corey Feldman and Corey Haim starred alongside one another--they ended up becoming a duo called The Two Coreys, and starred in six more films and a reality show with each other before Haim died in 2010. The Lost Boys also starred Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jami Gertz, among others.
This was such a fun adventure for kids back in the day. It's like the pretend adventures we would have when we were young put into movie form. It was so much fun watching you react to it! Isn't it amazing to see a young Sean Aston and Josh Brolin, a younger Joe Pantoliano and Robert Davi? FYI, Phys Ed is short of physical education, i.e. "gym glass."
This movie always makes me very nostalgic to growing up in the 80s, riding my bike, and getting into adventures. Just nothing as crazy as them, though!
Phys. Ed. Is short for physical education class or gym class at school. This is one of my all-time favorite feel good movies. Some of the props from this movie were also used in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom…the sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. Just a little FYI :)
THE GOONIES always will have a special place in my heart. So much humor, friendship and adventure like my own childhood - so i missing this time. Yes, i miss the 80's, and i still miss a 2. part of THE GOONIES ❤❤❤
"You smell like Phys Ed!" in ref to Physical Education at school, how the lockers and unwashed stuff smells...BO and mildew! I would have to say this is one of the 1st movies I remember seeing, ever, and I was just about 8 years old or so. It hit all the right spots to make me want to become an adventurer, so much so that I even head into the mountains from time to time looking for anything that might go well in the local museums. Haven't found anything yet except gems and gold ;) But this movie is a staple in my life! LOVE IT! Thx for watching it along with us!

Hi Kiddo. Since you loved the Goonies there are a number of good Family/Kids movies from the same era. Short Circuit, D.A.R.Y.L. , Willow, The Mighty Ducks, Hook, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Princes Bride, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Last Starfighter, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Harry and the Hendersons, The Secret Garden, Matilda, Flight of the Navigator, Monster Squad, Major Payne, etc. When you get around to reacting to TV shows I can make a list of good 80s, 90s and early 2000s Shows for you. :D
Great reactions, Duaffy! The reaction of the kids when they come down the water slide and see the pirate ship is the real deal. The child actors were not told the pirate ship would be there.
The Goonies name comes from the fact that all of the kids were somehow connected to the region of their city/town known as the Goon Docks (mentioned when Troy’s father brings the papers to foreclose on their home).
This was my childhood staple... along with the 1985 masterpiece “Clue”. It was a fabulous year... I was also born that year so it must have a blessed year! Hahaha jk. But seriously you need to watch clue. It’s a fabulous movie. Quick witted and hilarious.

The DVD commentary for the Goonies is a definite must see if you enjoy the movie, extremely good. They get pretty much every one of the kids plus the director together again on screen to watch the movie together. You also learn a few things about the movie you never knew existed such as there were killer gorillas filmed at one point along with alot of other booby traps well never get to see, and the famous deleted giant Octopus segment just before the Pirate Ship (which the kids mention at the end of the movie). Also in the part in the Fertellies basement as they escape the director finds out for the first time him and his editors missed a big audio goof where Sean Astin calls Josh Brolin by his real name and its still there in the movie to pick up if your paying attention.
Wow I remember seeing this in the theater as a kid. It's seems a bit too predictable now, but at 10 years old I loved it. Just a fun movie for everyone. Dauffy another 80's movie that is good fun with heart is Short Circuit from 1986 Its worth checking out.
No a bullet can't start a fire .. Unless it causes a spark and the gas fumes are in just the right proportions. That's a Hollywood special effect and not true to life. Same thing with exploding cars. (Cars are made so they don't blow up as they do in movies.) Gas tanks used to be placed in the rear of cars, that is until too many rear collisions happened, and now the gas tank is placed more near the center so if you get hit from behind you won't turn into a ball of fire.

En la película "Deadpool 2" (a la que ya reaccionaste), Deadpool se refiere a Cable como "One Eyed Willy", en referencia a que Josh Brolin (Cable) es Brand en The Goonies.
I was lucky enough to watch this in the theater with my parents, one of the first times we all went out to the movies after dark. It's a treasure of fun, the right lessons and wonder.
This Movie was Called the "Raiders of the Lost Ark for Kids". The Action, Adventure and Whole Feeling was On Par with it. This was my first of your reactions, I decided to watch your reaction to my favorite of all time and I was not disappointed. You are adorable and I am sure I will watch some more. Another couple you should watch if you have not already is “The Neverending Story” and “the Flight of The Navigator”
I grew up with this movie. Absolutely love it! You are so charming, and enjoyed your reaction. "Hey you guys!" Haha!
The older brother is THANOS and the younger bother is SAM GAMGEE!
You *know* One-eyed Willie is a synonym for a 'trouser snake'
I was 8 when this came out and I saw it in the theater. I loved it.
This movie always takes me back to when i was a young kid. Adventure, fun, friendship, and innocence.
No a bullet can't start a fire .. Unless it causes a spark and the gas fumes are in just the right proportions.
That's a Hollywood special effect and not true to life. Same thing with exploding cars. (Cars are made so they don't blow up as they do in movies.)
Gas tanks used to be placed in the rear of cars, that is until too many rear collisions happened, and now the gas tank is placed more near the center so if you get hit from behind you won't turn into a ball of fire.
Great movie. The 80's truly were the best times. For movies, and music.
the mama is the actress who played in "throw mama from the train" then she had degenerative nerve disease
smelling as phis ed is physical education chucky is NOT a sportsman
good first reaction and the goonies is an absolute classic , especially for adults who remember being children
The beginning you got *Sean Austin* but you left out *Corey Feldman* those are the two biggest stars of this classic movie
Phys Ed is physical education "gym class" at school so he's saying you smell like sweat
Phys Ed = Gym class. Sweat and dirty socks.
En la película "Deadpool 2" (a la que ya reaccionaste), Deadpool se refiere a Cable como "One Eyed Willy", en referencia a que Josh Brolin (Cable) es Brand en The Goonies.
Can someone in patreon or something tell me if she stopped doing marvel or is she taking a break?
When you reliease that Samwise and Thanos are brothers!
¡No te había visto reírte tanto hasta esta película!
Anne Ramsay’s unique voice in her older years was the result of a partial tongue amputation due to cancer. In interviews she’s very sweet.
I believe it happened between this film and “Throw Mamma”.

I love your reaction. I was that kid in the eighties.
Everybody knows that Josh is Thanos and Mikey is Samwise. Not everybody knows that Mikey is the son of Gomez Addams.
I'm not sure I'd tell anybody, either.
Chunk is now an Entertainment Lawyer.
phys ed is Physical education or PE
One Of Richard Donner's Masterpieces Ever Made. RIP Mr. Donner 🙏
Hey you guys!!! Goonies Never Say Die!
TRIVIA: When the Goonies First see One Eyed Willie's Ship, the Reactions were REAL! The Director purposefully kept the kids from seeing the Ship set until the Camera's were rolling!
ADULT TRIVIA FOR DUAFFY: You probably Never heard of this in Your Country, but Here in America (Back in the 70's and 80's) a "One-Eyed Willy" was a Slang term for a Guy's... You Know...
Duaffy,
