The Cornetto Trilogy is satire of 3 genres, zombie horror, mystery thriller and sci-fi. Nick and Simon also starred in Paul, a comedy about a pair of comic fans on a road trip who meet an alien named Paul voiced by Seth Rogan.
Don't forget that in all three movies there's some random scene where the wrapper for the Cornetto ice cream cone shows up. I believe it's a satire of director/writer cameos in movie franchises. ;)
Simon also stars as Scotty in all the new Star Trek films, and has been in the last 4 or 5 Mission Impossible movies, along with lots of other films. He and Nick are also in a new show on Amazon called Truth Seekers, that they both co-created.

@@jksgameshelf3378 I watched Truth Seekers, good show. More Star Wars fan than Star Trek though, Simon was in The Force Awakens as the junk dealer too.
The rewatch value of this movie (and Edgar Wright movies in general) is masterful! One of the reasons as to why Edgar Wright is one of my favorite directors.
So many things you don't notice on first viewing, like at 24:30 when Nicholas rides back into town there's a poster in the shop window for Romeo and Juliet, with the new actors.
They're best friends in real life. When Simon Pegg was homeless he slept on Nick Frost and his wife's couch. They've known each other well beyond this entertainment stuff.
You can tell the twins apart by the books they are reading, either Iain Banks (modern fiction) or Iain M Banks (sci fi). I always thought that was a wonderful little touch.
The great thing about the cornetto trilogy is that they manage to be brilliant comedies and parodies without losing track of the essence of the thing they're parodying. Shaun of the Dead is a very competent zombie movie, Hot Fuzz a very competent Cop Buddy movie and At Worlds End - well, you get it.
This will always remain the greatest of the trilogy as it's where Edgar Wright showed the greatest skill of a director and where he earned the title of master of transitions.
While it's hard to compete with Lord of the Rings and Star Wars (ROTK is probably always going to be my #1 movie ever made by every metric and Star Wars basically changed cinema and moviemaking forever and more than any other movie) I wouldn't be too upset at now that you made me think about it honestly to put it at #3 (4? Perfectly honest, I truly believe Emperor Palpatine's story arc is the greatest bit of storytelling ever since the dawn of human language, so I damn near put III as the top movie. Still, I agree LOTR, Star Wars, Cornetto) If nothing else for them being a literal complete masterclass in filmmaking and directing from Edgar Wright because there is literally every trick in the book somewhere in one of the 3.
“Hot Fuzz” is one of the greatest British action comedies of all time, and probably the best film of the Cornetto Trilogy since “Shaun of the Dead”. Hope you also react to “Shaun of the Dead” and “The World’s End” as well. Couldn’t wait for Edgar Wright’s latest film “Last Night in Soho” this year.
My favourite joke is the whole Fascist, Hag gag. Especially when if you pay attention, in the crossword, fascist was from left to right, and hag was from up to down. And the in the shooting scene, she shoots at him from left to right while yelling fascist, and he shoots the flower pot that falls down on her when he says hag.
As was mentioned, this is the second film of the Cornetto Trilogy. You don't need to watch them in any particular order. The first one made was "Shaun of the Dead," "Hot Fuzz" the second, and "The World's End" the third. They are not narratively related at all, but they are thematically related in that each is an over-the-top parody of a different genre: zombie apocalypse, police action movie, and science fiction. It's called the Cornetto Trilogy because a cornetto ice cream shows up somewhere in each one.
I'm so glad you're checking this out! I believe it was the 2nd out of the trilogy, but this is one of the very few movie trilogies where the order doesn't matter at all 😊
You are so sweet and adorable Duaffy! Hot Fuzz is one of my all-time favorite comedies! It cleverly plays upon the buddy cop genre of film. Your smile, giggles, and humor make this all the more better!
One of my favorite parts is having an ex-James Bond impaled on a steeple through his chin and mouth in the most gruesome manner follow it up with "Owwwwwwww, this reaaally hurts. I'm going to need some ice cream." And Timothy Dalton was fabulous in this role.
I think Wells is where Edgar Wright grew up, and the 'Best Village' committe members are Edgar and Simon's mums, plus a teacher of Edgar's, if I remember right.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost could be in any type of movie and I know I'd love it. I'm glad they used the mine at the end. After all, a mine is a terrible thing to waste 🤣
One of my favorite references in this film is that his badge number is 777, a number associated with Jesus Christ and the Christian religion, his name is Angel and he rides in on a pale horse (or death) with Wings made from guns.
I got the DVD box set of Hot Fuzz with the multiple commentary tracks. One of them is with the villains, and it's delightful. It's a bunch of elderly British actors who have been friends for years telling stories and only occasionally talking about the movie.
"Technically he's doing the right thing...well no, technically he's according to the law." Making this distinction automatically makes you smarter than roughly 80% of the planet.
She was also nominated for a Best Supporting Oscar this past weekend (and was great in 'The Father', as she is in everything). I loved her so much in Broadchurch and Fleabag, too. Two amazing shows.
This movie is so much fun, but the gag I love the best is in the casting - an outsider cop is sent to a village where things aren't quite what they seem... of course Edward Woodward is there. Great shout out to The Wicker Man.
The desk sergeant 'twins' are both played by Bill Bailey, a very talented comedian and musician. There are lots of clips of his shows up on youtube if you're interested
Supreme editing on this video, excellent selection on what 10 minutes to show. You maintained the structure of the film and kept every plot point, allowing the audience to follow along. Even had they not seen the film before, a viewer could watch this and understand exactly how the story unfolded, and how the two main characters grew. I particularly enjoyed the way you edited the small moments of Sgt. Angel doing his job, painstakingly showing each part of being a police officer in a small town: meeting the residents; orientation at the station; coordinating with Neighbourhood Watch (or similar orgs); community outreach and local school presentations; responding to non-emergency calls from citizens; patrolling a beat; shopping/errands while on duty; setting up a speedtrap; maintaining a police cordon; providing security at a local festival; paperwork. The film injects drama every opportunity it gets, but these are all real, every-day things that police might do on any given day as part of their job, and you took great care to keep all that in, while still finding moments to allow your wonderful personality and reaction to come through. Well done. Very rare to see that level of awareness and effort, most reactors keep in the jokes, punchlines, and situational comedy, at the expense of the narrative structure. When you said “I can’t believe this is how it is actually happening” referring to Angel and Butterman carrying weapons and ammo to the evidence room, it reminded me of a story I heard from my friend, a Russian police officer. There are still quite a few landmines and unexploded artillery rounds in Russia on the old battlefields of the Second World War (most have been cleaned up, but some remain). One day, a local farmer called the police and informed them he found something that appears to be an unexploded artillery shell. It proved to be exactly that, but, due to it being in a poorly accessible rural area, the sapper team could only arrive to take care of it tomorrow. The police still had to ensure that no one would stumble upon this shell and harm themselves before that, so they left an officer to guard it until the morning. However, the weather was bad, and the officer did not really feel like spending the entire night under cold rain. Instead, he loaded the shell into his car, drove home, spend a night there, and in the morning brought the shell back to the place it was found. Bottom line: yes, the handling of arms, ammunition, and explosives in law enforcement can absolutely take absurdly comical forms.
Shaun of the Dead next! It is dark & gory in a similar kind of way to Hot Fuzz but in my opinion the dialogue is at it's best in Shaun of The Dead so many great moments & quotes.

As others have already commented, this is part of the Cornetto trilogy (Cornetto is an ice cream brand) and it's the second movie of three. They can be watched in any order since their stories aren't connected, only the actors, director and style. In order of release you've got the wonderful "Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz" and "World's End". I really hope you watch the other two as well since my personal favorite Shaun of the Dead is better than Hot Fuzz (in my personal opinion) but I love all three. I do think I prefer Shaun of the Dead and World's End over Hot Fuzz but that's just me. If you felt this movie took a sudden turn halfway through, wait until you watch the third and last movie in the Cornetto trilogy "World's End". It shocked even me at first. ;)
the world's end is the worst of the 3. it's not bad ofc, only compared to the other 2. shaun & hot fuzz... they are seriously debated in the web, currently i like hot fuzz better, but honestly both are great.
@@szepi79 Well, in the end it comes down to personal preference/subjective opinion. As far as my personal enjoyment ranking I'd put Shaun first, World's End second and Hot Fuzz last. They're all good so it's more a question of "Okay, I feel like watching a movie in the cornetto trilogy" and which one I'd like to watch most from a purely personal perspective.
This is cute. Someday do get around to do all three of them. Hot Fuzz is one of the movies which i'll pick up above Princess Bride. But i think both are equally good. I prefer this a tiny bit more. Because i prefer crime and mystery setting over medieval romance. But both are great movies. So rewatchable.
I don’t know if you know but this film is part of a series of films called the ‘Cornetto Trilogy’ They’re all directed by Edgar Wright and consist of a similar cast. You might notice that the editing of this is series it’s truly amazing like scene transitions and quick edits, they’re all done by Edgar Wright and he is renown for his editing style. Would highly advise watching Shaun of the Dead and World’s End as they are the other two! Would be great to see your reaction to those! Fun fact: Edgar Wright also directed baby driver, you can tell by the quick edits and music choices
I would definitely enjoy your reaction to the entire "Cornetto trilogy" (apparently so named because there is Cornetto ice cream in all three). They're all similarly delightful, funny, twisty movies. :)
This film takes the concept of the small, tight-knit village community and cranks it up to 11, because I can tell you where I grew up, in Vermont (which is all small towns like this), the older generation basically decides what is and isn't acceptable in town and if you do things that go contrary to that, they usually resort to gossiping to destroy reputations or shunning. There was very nearly a riot in my hometown when an outside developer came in and bought a ton of empty land and declared he was going to build offices and whatnot which would take business from the town further down the hill (much like George Merchant in this film) and ultimately he finally abandoned the project due to the outrage and insane negative press.
Fun fact: while it may seem they avoid hitting the swan because they’re obsessed with the rules around the perfect village, its also actually against the law for someone to kill a swan in the UK. The reason being that the Queen owns all the swans (and dolphins) in the entire country
This movie has an ALL STAR cast. The chemistry between Nick Frost and Simon Pegg is amazing. Although, they have been working together for over 20 years. Also...everyone pointing out The Hound but not Walder Fray?...I suppose he’s more recognisable though
I'm sure somebody else has already commented this but the guy dressed as Santa who stabbed Simon Pegg at the beginning was Peter Jackson, the director of the Lord Of The Rings film trilogy.
For a suggested reaction or to anyone you should watch the Spaced TV Series(English Sitcom - 1999). It is a comedy show Written, Produced and Starring Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson. Where they hired Edgar Wright as the Director. The same director of the Cornetto Trilogy. Also known as the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy. Also starring Nick Frost. And, a bunch of talented co-stars. Some of which make cameos in the Cornetto trilogy. Spaced is what started it all.

Loved this reaction, please do Shawn of the Dead and World's End aswell.
This is the only character in a movie that is close to how i operate
I have this on DVD. There's commentary from Edgar Wright and Quentin Tarantino which is entertaining.
The farmer with all the guns is Walder Frey from game of thrones
great super chaotic movie in a good meaning..
next you need to react to Snatch
I don’t know if you know but this film is part of a series of films called the ‘Cornetto Trilogy’ They’re all directed by Edgar Wright and consist of a similar cast. You might notice that the editing of this is series it’s truly amazing like scene transitions and quick edits, they’re all done by Edgar Wright and he is renown for his editing style. Would highly advise watching Shaun of the Dead and World’s End as they are the other two! Would be great to see your reaction to those!
Fun fact: Edgar Wright also directed baby driver, you can tell by the quick edits and music choices
The tall guy , Michael, who says “yarp” is the guy who plays The Hound on Game Of Thrones (Rory McCann).
This team has shown itself to be fantastic story tellers. I love this movie.
This is actually the second movie in a trilogy with Simon Pegg. The first is Shaun of the dead, the last is At world's end. Great movies.
Me: It's a comedy/horror/drama
Michael: Yarp!
That movie is PACKED with comedy. Second, third or 50th watch, you'll always find a funny detail. Brilliant! Like your commentary - subbed! 😄
I disagree with you, I laughed all the way through this film! This is a fantastic comedy. 😂
I would definitely enjoy your reaction to the entire "Cornetto trilogy" (apparently so named because there is Cornetto ice cream in all three). They're all similarly delightful, funny, twisty movies. :)
that flip book was pretty impressive actually...
the surreal and light tone of this film reminds me of the 60's UK TV series The Avengers.
Thank you for the reaction. This is my favourite film. I've seen it multiple times, but this is the first time I've seen with someone else.
I loved the Clint Eastwood waa...waa...waa...waa.
Another movie that starts out as a genre satire, but finishes as just a really good example of the genre it’s satirizing: Galaxy Quest (1999)
Your laughter is adorable. This movie was well written Simon and Nick are great together. I had fun with your reaction! Keep up the good work!!
13:15 Notice how Danny makes it over the hedge. He's already learning!
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, truly brilliant actors
This movie has an ALL STAR cast. The chemistry between Nick Frost and Simon Pegg is amazing.
Although, they have been working together for over 20 years.
Also...everyone pointing out The Hound but not Walder Fray?...I suppose he’s more recognisable though
Besides The Hound from GoT, the guy in the cottage with all the weapons played Walder Frey.
Please make reaction on GLADIATOR. It will make you cry
This was fun to watch with you! Thank you for sharing! :)
Love how you have a little hamster in your video cover picture! Its so cute!
Duaffy you are a very keen observer and always notice logical missteps with scenes and the plot. I wish some studios would hire you as a consultant!
I love this movie! It's really hilarious, but also a genuinely exciting action film.
It's actually a 3 part trilogy, with all different stories/worlds. ;)
Duaffy's movie reactions are most clever ones I know. I love them! Thumbs Up!
“When’s your birthday?”
“22nd of February.”
“What year?”
“Every year.”
“Get out!”
Peter Jackson (Lord of the rings) was the Santa.
"No luck catching them killers, eh" was the line i knew the ENTIRE NWA was in on the murder plots. still genius reveal a few minutes later though
The "yarp guy" is The Mountain from Game of Thrones!
The actor that played Michael was the same actor that played the Hound in Game of Thrones
That Santa Clause that stabbed Sgt Angel at the beginning was Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings).
I love how the three films are referred to as the cornetto trilogy
I'm actually from Gloucestershire... it has its moments ;) Love the reaction, best wishes
Did you realize that the actor who played the "yarp" guy was the Hound in Game of Thrones?
