My parents and I were traveling through Tennessee, and on the 18th of August we were going through Memphis. His music was playing on just about every radio station. There was a feeling of sadness everywhere. We stayed at a camp ground outside of Memphis that evening, it was then that I first heard American Trilogy. I was amazed and truly moved. "ELVIS 2ND TO NONE"
This man had charisma with a capital C lived only 42 years but will be remembered for 1000 years. No one has come close to his impact on how he reached and touched the hearts of millions
One of the saddest days in American history that we lost a legend. He was a inspiration to millions of fans all over the world. May u rest in peace Elvis
I will never forget that day when we heard the news of his passing. I was 17. Love this song and we had it sung at my mom's funeral. She passed on Jan. 8, 2008 -- Elvis' birthday.
He was so afraid he would be forgotten. Im 78 . He is as loved today as he was then by the young and old alike!! And will be for years and years to come! What other entertainer can say that!! All over the world! Love you Elvis ❤❤❤❤❤
It is amazing to me that after all these years god has not created another singer like the Great Elvis Presley with his powerful beautiful voice that was just a gift from god. No one will ever come close.

August 16, 1977, it actually rained light drizzle all over the world .... it’s as if God was crying along with everybody else who may not of known him personally but we all felt this camaraderie like a family losing a loved one 😪😩
We had just moved to South Africa a few months before. I wasnt even a teenager. My mother had hundreds of scrapbooks jam packed with every magazine cutting she had ever come across. The headline in S.A. newspapers around the country on 17 August 1977 were THE KING IS DEAD. My mother felt like a part of her had died. We grew up with Elvis. My own children now in their 30s grew up with Elvis. #Forevertheking
This song always brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. My father about 2 weeks before he died said that he wanted Elvis singing "My Way" at his funeral. Then two weeks later he died 20 years to the day Elvis died. My father died on August 16th 1997. Now every time I hear this song and My Way played back to back I always start crying.
If u didn't cry when Elvis passed away then something was wrong Elvis brought great great joy an love an a great voice I Pray an hope he was Saved when he left this world It's sad to know that he felt alone
Thank God for youtube that we can still view his singing live 43 years after his devastating death.. My late brother was a huge Elvis fan. We played this song at his funeral service..
American Trilogy...this performance is Godlike ane angels backing up...this one will be played at my funeral. I was born in December 1970 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis and I was truly born an Elvis fan. Its u real i know but n9 one played Elvis records I heard from birth, it waa in my blood, in my genetics. And will be till i take my last breath.
Oh, I wish I was in the land of cotton Old things they are not forgotten Look away, look away, look away Dixieland Oh, I wish I was in Dixie, away, away In Dixieland I take my stand to live and die in Dixie 'Cause Dixieland, that's where I was born Early Lord one frosty morning Look away, look away, look away Dixieland Glory, glory hallelujah Glory, glory hallelujah Glory, glory hallelujah His truth is marching on So hush little baby Don't you cry You know your daddy's bound to die But all my trials, Lord, will soon be over Glory, glory hallelujah His truth is marching on His truth is marching on
I'll never forget this day. I was on a beach in Hawaii. Complete shock as we heard it announced on the radio. Hawaii loved Elvis ❤️ many leis placed in the ocean in his honor. You will be loved forever Elvis ❤️ thank you for your beautiful life and music 🎶 ❤️🔥😇
I cried at age 10 after telling my mother that Elvis had died she was at work and she started crying . I went to the store and his music was playing on the radio In the store and there were grown men and women crying right there . Now I’m 56 yrs old watching this brings back so many memories and I’m crying again just like I did at 10 . The tears are real Thank you Elvis for your Music , all these years later your still loved and missed. The tears say it all ! TCB forever
Still makes me cry...i was 8 days olde when he passed. I wish that i was born 30 years earlyer(sorry for the bad spelling..im from holland) till this day ,i still love this man....there will never be anyone like him
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, well people sure do like to try. Never equalled and Never beaten. Elvis is and always will be the king 👑
For those wondering. This version is on spotify however this video just sped it up slightly. Its his version on the live at hampton roads coloseum in the 2022 elvis on tour album
Not a single day where I don’t miss him. No superlative can describe his emotional impact. The only king, still unsurpassed. Thank you for the video. Beautiful editing. And thank you Elvis.
I remember watching this footage of his funeral as a young child (I was born in 1980 and my dad was a big fan) and I asked my dad, “How did he sing that song at his own funeral if he was dead?” And that’s what stuck with me all those years!
It reminds me of another comment on UA-cam when a husband was watching the 73’ Hawaii concert and his wife came in and said “was this before he died?” And the comment or said he clearly didn’t marry her for her brains LOL
I remember tv and radio stations interrupted programming to announce the sad sad news. The King was Dead. Phone lines all over the USA were jammed, ppl calling friends, family in complete and utter shock. I was born 4 years after President Kennedy's murder, But I remember vividly where I was when the news broke that THE KING was no longer with us. We were all sitting in the living room watching tv. They interrupted programing, I was 10 years old, cried my eyes out.
I am lucky to have been in this era and this time in my life to have witnessed just what I seen and heard elvis is a one of a kind there will never ever ever be a single person who will do what he has done and for that I say glory glory haulaluya
When I learn he had die.i cry the hole day.it was so hard to believe.i went to some music stores to get some of his records.i couldn't find one.they all been sold.i know he in haven.looking down to see how much he was loved. T, C,B,
So sad to watch and at the same time incredibly rewarding: Standing by his grave was so surreal, but Elvis is very much alive today as long as his songs are being played and remembered. Testament to his greatness must be the fact that, even though most kids have never even seen a record or a cassette, his fanbase of young fans is growing Visiting Graceland and Sun Studio was the highlight of our vacation!
Best man and performer soul to ever walk earth eternally , 1 billion and less tvs then lol noone beats that ever could fact , with that population and TV sets that's astronomical
This version was used as closing credit for This Is Elvis documentary , it has been remix because the original was from Elvis at the Hampton Roads concert in Virginia 1972 , they added more to the orchestration , and this new remix actually available on Elvis The Essential Collection Album, I believe that was released sometime in mid 90s .. I owned the cassette , so that is why i know .. 😊
I first saw this video as a kid. I felt the power and the emotion of this performance. And I feel the sadness for the king of rock ‘n’ roll’s death. I truthfully and honestly feel like everything great and amazing about Elvis Presley can be felt in the song alone. Long live the king.
@A.J. Deme lol agree, he’s still the king and I’m 16. I didn’t get to see him live but even I’m no fool to see that he was the greatest, true king and the king will live on.
NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE HIM EVEN IF THE WORLD REMAINED FOR 1 MILLION YEARS - GOD MADE ONLY ONE ELVIS, EVEN THO HE WAS A TWIN ( Like me and our birthdays are 4 days apart ) I’ve always felt a connection to him and I think it’s because we are both twins ! LOVE ME SOME OF MY ELVIS 💚😢

@Steve Munoz I’d say Elvis is much bigger because he is ingrained HEAVILY in popular culture and has been raised to a historic/god-like status. Him and Michael are both famous as each other but Elvis has a ridiculously insane caliber as a celebrity, if that makes sense.
