I put the most blame on Tom Parker. Although Elvis was his own person, he was a shy introvert, and allowed Parker to control him. Parker knew this, and pounced like a tiger on Elvis. I was a fan at age 8, and cried myself to sleep the night Elvis died...I was only 9.

Just watched this for the first time. Elvis was taken advantage of and was pressured to perform to support so many when he was tired and needed help. An intervention. Instead he is in his room deathly ill while everyone is downstairs gambling away his money. 😢 so sad. Going to the restroom at 6am and someone not finding him until after 2pm? He needed love.

A small amount of multi millionaires in the late 50s and Elvis Aron Presley with 4 movies is one of them! Before leaving to the Army in 1958 -60 Sargent Elvis Aron Presley had already 25 top chart Hits recorded that became both Gold and Platinum !
To me he is and will be forever the undisputed King of Music ! He ended his Wonderful Career with 250+ Recorded Songs ! Only one as a solo singer followed by Frank Sinatra ! Both Legendary Performers in America and Loved by the Whole World !

I have no idea if Larry was sincere, but he was definitely misguided. Elvis was a professed Christian. More than one time he told his audiences that "I'm not the King. There is only one King, and that's Jesus Christ." Larry encouraged him to dabble in false religions. That is NOT the way for any Christian to find inner peace. The Holy Spirit won't allow it. As "spiritual guide," he should have encouraged Elvis to trust in his Christian beliefs and gain strength from them. Elvis did still read his Bible and remained a Christian, but he did too much dabbling for his own good, and Larry encouraged that.

What an amazing tribute to Elvis by his friends! I have watched many docus about Elvis’s life, but this one was special for some reason. The hairdresser friend spoke from his soul and he described it so well how he had to make sure Elvis looked presentable on his last journey. The tears of his friends were real, no pretentions. Sending love and peace in comfort that they did everything they could for Elvis and his family. Elvis forever! ❤

Even his back up singers were blk...Elvis never forgot where he came from, and he treated his blk maid with the utmost respect and bought her a house, she claims Elvis's spirit comes to visit her...and bought so many cars as well....The thing about when he gave, he did it behind closed doors not some showy for all the world to see with back door deals and cameras everywhere, like Miss Oprah!...So called cars she gave away were not out of her pocket at all...but deals she made w/Ford...and she did it to look generous....but while she's a billionaire she is far from generous...just slick! just saying...Oprah, your no Elvis!

From that day on Elvis was playing on every radio and news station for weeks . Our family loved Elvis we always had his records playing in our house even before he died.. I wanted to be Elvis so bad I remember asking my mom if I could get my pants to flair out at the bottom just like Elvis . I had all his 8 trac tapes .. He was truly the one and only King of Rock N Roll . Very tragic his ending was . I will never forget it . Still to this day I love his music . He was such a powerful force .
God bless is family . We are all blessed to have had such a great man entertain us all .may he rest in peace. .

Well, he did function as a child and even as a teenager which is the most challenging time in most people‘s life. - As a natural night owl since early childhood (Kindergarten) I managed to function trying to adapt my duties to my natural sleeping pattern later on in order to live almost drug free which was difficult as most jobs, shifts and schools are at daytime. I ended up sleeping properly during my days off for decades. - As an artist it was even much easier for Elvis to do so but he decided to keep on consuming drugs.
Anyway, even if he would have led a healthier life I guess he would have died in the 1980s due to his coronary heart disease.

I was born the year that Elvis recorded That's Alright Mama. I grew up listening to his music, I like so many, loved Elvis. Anyone who had the pleasure to know the Man, or to see him in concert was very blessed. I live in Australia so that was never going to happen for me. The closest I ever got to Elvis was a visit to Graceland, yes I got to walk in Memphis. Elvis left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him, listened to his music & loved him. Elvis will live for as long as we can listen to his amazing voice.

He was born just too early for there to be rehabilitation, real rehabilitation for those that can afford it. I doubt even the Dr's knew how to save him. Thankfully at least the rich have the option. Scotland is failing ridiculously for a first world country. Average people just don't have the choice, we are offered talk therapy or worse, groups with other addicts often still with using drugs. You just cannot be exposed at all to drugs in recovery. Like elvis I was prescribed drugs worse than heroin, tranquillisers of pharmaceutical quality, I've stopped again but there really is no help to get into a facility without being free and being free of these drugs is a long slow process that needs a lot more than talk therapy. I liken it to a cancer, talk therapy does not work and there's never been anybody more determined just to be balanced and healthy. It's a disgrace so much loss of life and talent and yet all these years later in Scotland, drug dependency is seen as a character flaw, a crime, even as I begged for help it took months and months to get it and I cannot relapse once with one pill, or I'll get no help again. Still no understanding that its a killer mental illness. It literally hijacks your reward systems, the mechanisms being the same for food sex and basic survival, still it doesn't have to end this way. I hope God or the universe will cure me so I can publish this and the dire need for lives to be saved by Dr's. They know very little other than don't prescribe, a start yes, but they need educated in offering tapering, give people a chance even if limited to once a year. The problem is most afflicted with this cannot articulate it because of stigma and often the fact you cannot stop taking prescription high potency drugs, it requires an educated Dr to sift through the cheats and see those screaming for help. As it stands there are no rehabilitation centres in Ayrshire except talk therapy or methadone for heroin addicts of which I am not, a needle would have made me run, a Dr.. Not so much. Just like poor elvis. I've outlived him 3 years of which in no small measure 12 years of family responsibilities saved my lifestyle. If only he had embraced his daughter and wife like he did his friends and groupies. It would be good to use with an added testimony of how this still affects our people and how actually straightforward and money saving it would be for the government to wean patients far away, maybe green meditative places and teach coping strategies for depression, that's the underpin of addiction, trauma like divorce, losing a child, losing family irreplaceable support networks, normal sadly but if a Dr prescribes you something that takes your pain away, it's not because one is evil that we keep taking it, it's because we are so isolated and alone, prejudice even from Dr's and the ever present dying to escape but never knowing how to feel good or enjoy again. It's torture worse than death. Happens to many performers and artists, maybe pain is what drives the creativity.
