Agreed. After losing some of the old crew, they need to make Cathro the new face of pinkbike. He'll carry their brand into the future. Hands down the nicest, most knowledgeable, most charismatic guy out there. I really wish they'd get him on board with bike reviews as well. I'd watch a whole series of Cathro bike reviews.
We really need more Ben Cathro. Hey @Pinkbike please make Cathro part of future bike reviews. There's no one out there I'd trust more with a review than Cathro.
The clouds parted as this big angry looking French man burst out the start gate bit was hilarious. Love all the in depth analysis Ben, keep this kinda content coming!! 👌🙏🤟🤟
AMAURY'S run this year was a thing of legend. People will (and should) be talking about it for years. Chaos and perfection at the same time. Like Ben said, 99% for a solid 4 minutes, nearly impossible but Amuray did it.
Hi, thank you Ben for your continual work on the worldcups, it's fantastic. My 2 cts : When the track is this tricky and even more with those conditions, it requires a lot of precision and consistency. And it is exactly where Amaury is the best. He is a master of precision and is probably unmatched at it. You can see it in the replay of his Run, there is a slowmotion on one of the gnarliest part of the track, where he puts his bike just between 2 rocks. A tiny gap of barely one tire wide just to avoid jumping too far, that moment perfectly outshine his particular strenght.
Haven’t been able to watch a val di sol since Rob Warner was the voice of the sport. The athletes deserve better coverage. Thanks to Ben and the crew for putting this one together for us fans🤙🤙🙏🫡
Watching this sport since 6 years I can only say thank you for such informations. It means much to understand what is really going on behind those almost magical rides.
Pierron's run was stunning. On the edge all the way down describes it perfectly. After Fin Iles fell short, I was sure Dakotah Norton was finally going to get that first WC win, but then Pierron decided to do something ridiculous! Thanks Pinkbike. PS there's no 'a' in 'correspondent' (Ben's job title), if you're bothered.
Ben Cathro ROCKS!!!! And - to answer that question about us understanding rain/but not... LOL - WEEEE call that "Portland-ing"... As in - "How is it outside today?" "-It's portland-ish" Rain, but not Wet, but not... yeah... normal! :-) (Portland OR - PDX!)
I've always liked your clinical like reviews very thorough and so easy to understand Keep it up Ben Almost forgot, with a sence of humour thrown in aswell
Cheese and Rice, Ben is the best at providing in depth analysis which is also entertaining. Great video… love we get plenty of junior coverage too. 😘🤙😎
Nice to see Pierron back on performance and Troy Brosnan getting pretty consistent results also. Curios to see the new Canyon Sender in detais. Since Aaron Gwin leaves Intense, what are the pilots? That new Intense M1 looks incredible.
In general wet races allow for bigger margins, but Gwin also put down some big wins on that track in the dry as would have Hill had he not gone down in the second last turn. Difficult and long tracks with a greater proportion of technical riding (and not motorways), probably allow the absolute best of the best to pull out something really special from time to time. What Amaury did on the weekend was a win for the ages.
Didn't think we'd see the return of the minimum effort pump precision style made successful by Bryceland ten years ago but Alran in the juniors is smashing it.
No mention of Greg Minnaar making his first finals this season. He just scraped into the finals while still recovering from a separated shoulder. So thats a good lesson for some of the elites who might be sulking, not making in. Its up to them to show the younger ones that they wont be giving up so easy. The sport does seem to be heading to a new level of professionalism without the rewards increasing and with all that comes riders going faster, taking more risk and for some resulting in serious injury. Some injuries not so serious but bad enough to ruin the riders season. That Val Di Sole track probably went too far in gnarl.
Let me q all you racer's in on what to do in these conditions, wait for it,put a freakin 2.5-2.6 non mud spike set of tires on your racing stead and behold, better tracking.better traction, less hand, wrist and arm fatigue, lower tire pressure, and no need for inserts.Perhaps not applicable for all tracks where there is more flat pedaling sections, but for a track like val di sole, its a no brainer. No joke,it makes a Huge difference.
Best race recaps EVER! I don’t even want to talk about trying to watch the races live, give me a break. Red Bull viewing was awesome compared to this. I’d rather watch Ben’s videos anyway!!!
There’s only one person capable of beating Pierron when he’s like this and that’s Goldstone IMHO. Shame they’ve both swapped places in the injury stakes.
Thanks for uploading, this is the only material of the entire race weekend, in all the categories (XC,DH,enduro) we are able to see in Latin America, as Warner and the UCI denied us any transmission of the events, all year around. We are forbidden to see UCI cycling.
I heard that too and wondered if Ben would be issued a ticket by the woke police. But I also thought ‘Good for him; he recognizes biology matters’ and said so.
Its called drizzle 😉 On a more related note, I think we should all tone down the junior hype, especially by comparing times to elite times. More often than not, the hype leads to disappointment. There has only been one exception in recent memory, whos trajectory kept going up all through the first elite year and that was Goldstone. Everybody else had the expected bumps and setbacks, but some of them also the 'Burden of Hype' and when they cant live up to the hype, the plebs often drops 'em like a hot potato. I dont think thats good. So, keep the comparisons within each category, puleeeze.
Ben Cathro is the best hire Pinkbike has ever made. The world missed the Cathro of old. Welcome back mate.
I think he's the best in all of action sports media, hell yeah Ben!
I love the idea pinkbike team gets us to know more about juniors who are obviously most of the time in the shadow of elite category
Longer the better IMO , best Story Of The Race yet this year!!
Amazing recap. Cathro (and team) always delivers
We really need more Ben Cathro.
Hey @Pinkbike please make Cathro part of future bike reviews. There's no one out there I'd trust more with a review than Cathro.
Amaury laid down an absolute masterclass here. So good to see him back like this. Nearly 10 secs faster than Bruni or Dunno. WTAF 😳
Really appreciate the level of detail you provide about the junior class.. Most media seems to gloss over it.
The clouds parted as this big angry looking French man burst out the start gate bit was hilarious. Love all the in depth analysis Ben, keep this kinda content coming!! 👌🙏🤟🤟

Amaury >>> Bruni
@@GaedeRafaelin fact Bruni does even say that himself. His reliability makes him the best overall but he struggle to win really frequently !
Ben is so good, loving the downhill racing content!
5s margin is insane, what a run, one of the best DH race runs in years.
Good recap, informative keep the videos coming love watching them. The longer the better in my opinion 👍

Ben is the best commentator!!!
Love the longer video, please keep more like this coming for story of the race!
top coverage
ecap love Cathro content great effort team
As much as I’d have liked Dak to win, that Amaury run was legendary to behold
Amaury is a beast! Finally back
Ben. Ah great to see you at your best. This is the good stuff.
I understand you, Ben. To paraphrase a great Lancastrian philosopher you were in that really fine rain which actually soaks you through.
Yeah like it's not quite rain but somehow I'm soaked kinda rain.
ITS SPITTING!!!
Wetting rain.
Welsh rain.
Mizzle (misty drizzle)
Watching this sport since 6 years I can only say thank you for such informations. It means much to understand what is really going on behind those almost magical rides.
Brilliant wrap up Ben, great to see the junors getting the credit they deserve 👏
One of the best vids in a while. Killer recap
I’m an amaury Pierron fan so glad to see him back
gracias Ben and the team!
Great job on the recap Ben 👍
Cathro No1 ambassador for the sport
Amaury fucking Pierron 🔥
Love your vids Ben. Can't wait to see them every race.
An excellent recap. I like In depth and comprehensive.
much love to Cathro for standing in the rain for this tale of the tape!
Don't forget the Sleeper crew doing the filming in the rain 😂
Epic, almost want to pay the subscription 😲 and Ben's recap is fantastic actually PB is doing a lot of the heavy hitting 👏 👏
Best story of the race so far, epic analysis 👌
i guess everybody forgot jackson won by 4.3 seconds on home turf his first year elite last year
Thanks for that video. Expaining things, even if it takes time, is very helpful. Keep up the good work. 🤩
Pierron's run was stunning. On the edge all the way down describes it perfectly. After Fin Iles fell short, I was sure Dakotah Norton was finally going to get that first WC win, but then Pierron decided to do something ridiculous!

Commenting to support ya Ben!!
We understand you Ben 😉 great report.
I've always liked your clinical like reviews very thorough and so easy to understand
Keep it up Ben
Almost forgot, with a sence of humour thrown in aswell
These recaps are so good. I’m obsessed with Motorsport, and it really is remarkable the similarities in racer performance across disparate sports
Awesome, just mind blowing what these riders can do.
Cheese and Rice, Ben is the best at providing in depth analysis which is also entertaining. Great video… love we get plenty of junior coverage too. 😘🤙😎
The raining but not raining made perfect sense.
I think Seattle is like that just all the time...
Great analysis !
Nice to see Pierron back on performance and Troy Brosnan getting pretty consistent results also.

This is better than the live coverage 😅
Great discussion...
What a race!
Loved the longer video. Also mint fade out at 7:10 ❤
BC, you are the master!
love the videos man
The bird was heckling Ben
AMAURY BEAST MODE.
lovely video
Ben, you are the best 😅

I hope we get the chance to see Amaury go up against Jackson with both at peak form.
cathro is soooo funny😂
Thanks for that good recap. Isn't the weather condition called "drizzle" ? I believe it is what happens when you're inside clouds, in fact. :)
He's from Scotland. I believe he is familiar with the condition :)
Cheers from Israel where things are literally gnarly... Thank you Ben for the brief moments of escapism.
Now that Amaury got his first win in awhile, the other boys might be in trouble.
The term you're looking for is "dry rain", its raining, but nothings wet.
I think you must be one of the only guys doing chats on dh that can actually pronounce people's names correctly. 😂
The goofiest giraffe with unsurprisingly the best viewpoint of the race 😂
Sick
Does not hold a candle to Danny Hart winning worlds in 2011 by 12 seconds. “How does Danny Hart sit down with balls that big?!”
Best race recaps EVER! I don’t even want to talk about trying to watch the races live, give me a break. Red Bull viewing was awesome compared to this. I’d rather watch Ben’s videos anyway!!!
Amoury stated he was holding back a bit 😮
Warner and Cathro on the mic and delete semi finals. That must surely be the ultimate for DH.
Omg yes please. We need Warner's passion back in the box. He brings something nobody else does.
Was that Mr Cathro stuffing his face in the Sleeper Shreddit?
Danny Hart - Champery 2011 World Champs run
Click thumbs up if you agree Tahnee's kit is 🔥🔥🔥 🤩
That should be Amourys new name! 🤣👍
“2028 leogang world champs”
😂
Lol it's ok we understand Ben
There’s only one person capable of beating Pierron when he’s like this and that’s Goldstone IMHO.
Shame they’ve both swapped places in the injury stakes.
These recaps are even more necessry now that the coverage is harder to access.

Is tahnee wearing a ski suit one piece style setup?
Onesie/bib with a gilet over it. Really testing the spirit of the rules.
Bruni must be worried now
His face on the podium as they stepped up for their awards told a story for sure…
2:58 'biological advantage' 😅😅😅😅
I heard that too and wondered if Ben would be issued a ticket by the woke police. But I also thought ‘Good for him; he recognizes biology matters’ and said so.
Its called drizzle 😉

Nah, that's mizzle, not quite mist and not quite drizzle.
That guy that hit the tree😢 I hope hes ok
Tahnee + skinsuit = 👌🏼
So by clock, you mean metronome. Got it.... lol.
7:00
Biological advantage
Why did you skip over Jackson’s 4.3 second winning margin in MSA?
Come on PB sort out the fantasy league scores and update them! Have you got a 7 y/o doing all the sums by hand or something?!?🤪
Wait wtf that's it? Am I the only one who thinks Ben has completely undersold the legendary runs amaury did?
Brown Snake
Such a bummer that Jess broke her hand
Simple, hes completely insane 🤣
Super low on the bike and animal like strength and flexibility. That’s Pierron
Is there any one better at down hill race coverage than Ben? I hope he is over payed for professionalism, knowledge, and charm.
