I actually helped the new owner sail this beauty home to Halifax this summer. She's a beautiful boat. Fast and comfortable to sail.

Though not a sailor myself, I find this particular channel one of the most enjoyable specially the human and professional interactions between Captain Q, who seems to be capable of transforming a dried fish into the sweetest of syrup, and Ran-day with his radiating intelligence, knowledge and wit. Another complement should be paid for the camera crew and the editor(s), the shots are just quite stunning, well done.

For your next vacation try a captained character instead of a stay at a resort.

Very nice and tidy boat. You can always tell what kind of attention a boat gets by how she is laid up for the winter and this one was done extremely well.

Boy, does everyone in their 50's remember THESE boats? I think I've spent more bluewater time in all of these C & C 38's & 40s than all other boats combined. Really a safe boat, I think C & C shortened the stick to reduce sail area and power, moved the mast back ( 8" to 10" inches to lighten the load on the steering, limited the complexity of the rig to make cruising a little simpler- a very nice sailing boat. THIS boat is definitely more than a 20, Cap'n Q- what were you thinking? That hull is smooth & well fared (no Mr. Fix it repairs caused by docks n rocks), heck the self ablating anti-fouling paint is darn near perfect! Heck, I think that's gotta be worth 10 points- all by its lonesome! Sure that Navy blue paint needs a lil love & PPG paint ain't cheap, but- I didn't see a single leak...anywhere! Heck, I might've eaten that Dinty Moore right out of the scuppers! (OK, maybe after the bottle of champagne, but- you get the idea!!!) This vessel might be the best value seen in a looong time, Capt'n Q & Ran-Day!!! I'm no surveyor, but- it lit the fire in my heart. It might even be my PB... Dangerous language- best stop now before I look fer the checkbook!

@@lorib5398 Well, if you are the proud seller- congratulations! I hope it is going to someone who appreciates all of the time spent keeping her fit as a fiddle with no brightwork left unpolished! Conversely, if you are the buyer- Congratulations, that is one sweet vessel! She deserves a loving owner owner though (he cautions, a lil salty water in his eyes), someone who will keep her well & understands although she's older, she will provide speed and safety to one who keeps a keen eye on the details of her upkeep & maintenance! It's a version I've never sailed (wall & doorway between the rear Qtr. berth & the galley) & one that I wish I could call my own! Fingers crossed that she remains a perfect reminder of her youth: pretty to the eye and safe in rough weather- fast & dependable. Many a cruiser dreams in C & C 38 Landfall Caribbean watercolors. I know I do! P.S. If you are the seller, I'd really, really love to own her!

I know someone with a slightly newer 38 C and C but it didn't have the rear quarter berth, the gally was on the port side and it had a bath tub, and there was no mast in the middle of the floor it was on the head bulkhead forward more. Same exterior though. He takes people on charter cruises with it.

Good work pointing out the draft differences.
Many sailors never get past the Bahamas and 7 feet is way too much draft. 5 feet works well for the intercoastal, Florida keys and the Bahamas. 6 feet is probably maximum.
Another consideration. The dark blue hull is beautiful but hot in the tropics.
    Good work guys.

Some years ago, we chartered a Landfall 38 in the north channel of Lake Huron. She handled some really nasty late summer weather and sailed beautifully. Unfortunately the downpours confirmed that she had a lot of deck leaks and was taken out of the fleet the following season. That said, as a C&C 27-III owner, I'd buy one ian heartbeat but she would be a tad too long for my club.

I love you guys. I ain't gay, just absolutely appreciate the wealth of knowledge you deliver in such an awesome way. My hope is that someday you guys will get on one of these boats, show what is involved in getting it properly outfitted for a longer passage with included costs and have a series of videos focused on the art of sailing and what is needed upon arrival in a port (how to anchor properly, what distance is good from other boats, how to acquire a slip or mooring, etc.). All these videos just make me want to see you guys putting all that sailing knowledge into action. It truly would be great to see you guys do an in depth sailing vid or series though! Even if it was just the captain shouting out orders with Ran-Day running around fixing sheets and dropping the anchor etc. If you need a camera man, that would absolutely be like grown up Disneyland, for me. It would also be great if you guys could come out and do some vids in southern California, especially when you guys are slipping around in the snow and ice out in New England. Not even Sea dog wants to be in that!

I've been fixing up a C&C 38 Landfall since October, and I can say this boat looks amazing! The price is definitely set to sale, totally worth it if there is no delamination in the cored hull. Check around the three head through-holes and make sure the holding tank never leaked as they screwed the nav station flooring into the hull from the inside.

Another point of the Landfall series was increased fuel and water tankage. A lot of decent boats would have to carry jerry cans or have more tanks added for serious cruising. this one already has it.

Hey captain I love this boat and it’s another example of an affordable cruiser in great shape. I wonder if you find boats that are in the sub $10k in the Marinas that are worth a show? I’m on the edge of my seat.

As I remember, the Landfall series caused quite a stir when they were first introduced. C&C broke a lot of new ground with their ability to combine performance and comfort.

Perhaps you could educate your subscribers on boat hull and deck construction. Is single skin or solid fiberglass construction better than cored construction? If cored construction is used, is Airex foam core material the best core material? When you review a boat, can you tell us if the hull and deck are solid or cored? If cored, can you tell us if it is Airex core material? It seems to me that the most important part of a boat is the hull. Next is the deck. Do you agree?

Love your channel! We’ve been researching various Bahamas cruising boats in the 35-42’ range and this was on my list along with Tartan 37 and Morgan 382-384’s. My hesitation with this model is the spade rudder vs skeg supported. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!

    • @YachtHunters
      @YachtHunters  2 роки тому

love to have a skeg whenever possible especially in our neck of the woods in New England as it seems likely that you'll kiss the bottom at some point in your sailing career... best to keep the rudder protected. Not to mention the lobster traps we have around.... but absolutely nothing wrong with a spade rudder and we have both raced them without much worry. Just a little more diligence required when dodging lobster pots.

I have always hated climbing ladders. I feel captain Q should have motorized stairs to get into the boats. When I had my 22 Catalina in a shop I found one of those stairs on wheels like you see at Lowe’s and arrange to obtain it for the boatyard. With the stipulation that whatever boat I bought into the yard I would get first use of those stairs

I love what I see in the C&Cs except reading the forums about excessive very common core rot. Extremely scary to think you might make a purchase and this very expensive repair would get missed. Worse yet your boat could break up in a blow. You didn’t broach this aspect of the mark?

@@YachtHunters Any tips on finding an honest surveyor that’s NOT in bed with the broker? In other words that would conveniently overlook something like core rot, engine or rigging issues $$$$$$ to “make” the sale?
