It would be much helpful if you couple the still samples with basic exposure settings : f stop, shutter speed, ISO (along with focal length if the lens being tested is not a prime one). Additionally, uploading the samples to Flickr for example and also making them available for download in their RAW formats would make your channel a really helpful one since one would be able to practically check the performance of the lens... Its color rendition, chromatic aberration, barrel distortion...etc...having said that I certainly don't mean to underestimate your channel... Not at all... I'm only honestly sharing my opinion on how to make your videos really fruitful to photographers ... Again it is only my opinion... Thanks for the channel and for your labor and all the best!
Yes, because I can't see much from a sample in UA-cam vs on my own monitor and software, my own technique of analyzing pictures etc. Please Technology Mafia, upload your test photos online! I am a great fan of your videos, but I beg you to make them better by uploading your tests!! Many thanks!
RAW? ummm no JPEG makes more since to give us the idea of straight out of the camera quality... RAW is so easily manipulated and almost anyone with basic understanding of editing software can make the photo from raw look good.
I just bought this Meike 25mm 1.8. Very strong vignetting at 1.8, but easy to correct on post. At 2.8 a little vignetting. f4 it is gone. Not extremely sharp but ok. Seens to have some fringe at corners, but I have to test more. It is lightweight. Gorgeous bokeh!!! For the value it is very, very affordable. Looking foward to purchase the Meike 12mm 2.8 now.
Cheap and compact doesn't mean bad. Like A6300 - relatively cheap, but the quality you get is just outstanding! I even shot the entire Sci-Fi short film with this camera (on my channel). Thanks for the nice review! Useful as always! :)
l'd like to have one for my Canon M50, but the de clicked aperture is going to drive me nuts. l won't be able to tell what f stop i'm at when turning the ring with my eye in the viewfinder.
I own a few Chinese manual lenses the Zonlai 22mm f1.8 is by far the best, mechanically and optically. If you have a chance try it. You will be partly surprised at it's performance and yet such a low price.
Hi dear I have a a6000 camera and I bye a artisan 7.5mm lens when I see your review and I'm super happy with this lens. Thanks. I love ur genuine reviews.
would u say this lens is better than the wide lens from the a6000 kit? i broke my kit lens ( tragic, i know) and idk if i should get something like this lens or just get another kit lens! thanks for ur help!
Megan H Better is relative. This lens is better for low light and sharpness and subject separation, but the kit lens has a range of 16-50mm, it has autofocus, optical stabilization, and decent image quality all in a compact size. If I could only have one, I’d pick the kit lens over this Meike.
It's looked like a 7artisans, just a better focus control. Already purchased 7artisans one, so will skip this. But I love the meike 35mm one very much. Thanks for the vid
Thanks for the review, I currently own Sigma 30mm f1.4 w/ Sony A6000. I also had Sony 50mm f1.8... sold it bcz I wasn't using it much due to the 30mm. SO. Right now I'm looking for a good lens to add into my collection, cheap one. Any suggestion?? Please suggest. I'm into Street photography/portrait. Thanks alot
Rezaul Karim Arif 50 mm is amazing for portraits with crop sensors. I constantly use sel50f18 + a6300 for any type of shots, because the quality of the lens is great and crisp. You can check my latest sci-fi short film on the channel to see if the picture of the lens is any good, but in my opinion you need to get them back to your pack :(
Cubin4ik Yes I know, I used that but I'm in love with 30mm so sold it. I didn't like it much because of the crop always had to move away from subject far away.. Now looking for something in cheap and sharp.
Rezaul Karim Arif thank you so much for you feedback on my film! I'm happy you liked it. :)) Talking about lens and crop, I totally agree, with 50 mm and 1.5 it's challenging to get everything in frame. ) For that reason I'm also considering buying something wide angle now. 🤔 But normally I would use kit lens just for now.
If you like wide-angle lenses, Sigma 16 1.4 is my recommendation. Sharp as and great for Street Photography. 450USD though. I got it for 356USD in Hong Kong. If that's not in your budget maybe try find a second hand one.
It seems that you love your A6000! Using MF lens with the A6000 is really easy with its MF assist (mag and peak) and the way it works on that camera (i set the C1 button for mag). Most of time I prefer manual focusing. What about commenting on lens character as well? For me lens character is more relevant than clinical razor sharpness across the frame. Many of these cheap chinese lens are well made, sharp enough and full of character for unique and beautiful creative work! Sharpness is a bourgeois concept.
Hi Arthur, if You are doing a comparison video with this Meike, could You then also compare it with an equivalant vintage Asahi Takumar or an Olympus Zuiko via an adapter. I am curious if it is worth the money to buy these cheap chinese lenses if you are still having your analog lenses from your old 35 mm. film SLR's.
I’ve had this for over a year and the build quality is absolute garbage! It’s fine when you first take it out the box but starts falling apart after only a few months of use. The aperture ring on mine is way too loose and turning the focus ring actually makes the entire lens turn!
I think you are right. I tend to shoot close up with the 7artisans more often and don't like it much when shooting wide angle scenes. I notice sometimes the focus is off when you think it's in focus with zooming and focus peaking.
nice lens! i wanted something near a 35mm for a cropped camera my canon eos m5 but without breaking the bank as im repaying expenses from a two month trip still. so this looks like a great option!
I really feel like you should mention photo quality at 1.8. Thats great if its sharp at 5.6 like most lenses but most people want to buy a fast lens to use at an actual fast apeture.
I saw that meike is making also a 25mm 2.0 and is strange it releases this one just before. What is happening to the 25mm segment? Every m43 user is looking for a 50mm equivalent and cant find one that really fits all the needs, excluding maybe the mitakon one. Pretty expensive tho.
Some bad copies but they are doing a firmware update. I have one and I have been impressed! Comparative to the 24-70 GM for $1400 less. Love it on my A7iii

Hi,Alexis, the meike 25mm f1.8 is not same as that one from 7 artisans, you can judge this from the look of the two lenses. If possible, you can ask Arthur to make a comparision and he will tell you which one is better.

Agree
Agreed! I need quantifiable measures about a lens, not just sample photos!

I love your videos man, seriously helping me out finding good lenses for my a6300. Definitely picking up a Samyang 12mm 2.0. 👌🏻
Your always my first choice for goto stuff for my Sonys
I know i am too late.. will it be compatible with Fuji XA3?
How is it compared to 7artisans 25mm f1.8 you reviewed before? Which one do you like more?
This one is a little easier to focus, but image quality is the same.
l'd like to have one for my Canon M50, but the de clicked aperture is going to drive me nuts. l won't be able to tell what f stop i'm at when turning the ring with my eye in the viewfinder.

Doesn't the lens seem to focus way beyond infinity at 2:00 minutes?

Aren't the photo's at 5:40 and 5:50 samples of the 7artisans 25mm f1.8? As seen in your other review of that lens.
The one at 5:40 is the same! Idk about the 5:50 one.
Wow Jack McBrayer really knows his lenses!
what a beautiful cheap lens!
thank you for sharing this with us!
Would be nice to see how it performs in low light, compared to the Sony 24mm pancake.
AllPerspectives You mean the Zeiss 24mm? Or the Sony 20mm pancake?
Is it compatible to canon 700d ?which adapter can be used for this lens?
Do 7artisans 25mm vs Meike 25mm PLEASE
Yes, I'm wanting to know this! They seem almost identical.
Artisan is very very soft towards the edges. Personally used and found Meike to be better in that aspect
@@knowhow1758 Thanks so much for this useful information! And in all other quality aspects it matches the 7artisans?
@@nimkal Both lenses are almost similar to each other but my personal preference is Meike as the 7artisans gets soft/blurry in the sides

Work with g85?
This lens compatible fujifilm x-a3??
i bought a new a6000 after watching several videos of your camera review. looking up to having the same equipment as yours.
Welcome to the fun world of Sony mirrorless!
I watch your channel all the time for some pro reviews before buying a lens or equipment. keep up the good work m8. looking forward for more.
You forgot to mention that focus ring doesn't stop at infinity but instead goes further which makes it much harder to focus on infinity fast.
Hi, Which lens is most sharper, the meike 35mm 1.7 or the 25mm 1.8?
Can this fit on an eos camera ? The rebel t5 or the Canon eos m10 ?

just got the same lens, but for the fuji xmount. aperture is stuck at zero as of now

@relaxvideo3d you can get the sigma 19mm 2.8 for around £90 $110. Very compact and sharp, but no oss.
