This lens is awesome. Focusing is a breeze, construction is solid, and it is so small I can even fit my camera in my jacket pocket. With this lens I have no interesting in paying $500 for a version with auto focus. I am so happy with this lens.

You should add some vintage lenses into the mix, such as 50mm canon fd or old minoltas. I'm particularly interested in how these lenses compare to neewer and 7artisans, when they all end up costing about the same.
My worst first date experience? I booked an expensive restaurant for lunch and my date had me waiting for 2.5 hours :O The staff kept asking me if i had been stood up!
Went to dates house to pick her up in my dads sweet mustang. I was so excited! First time meeting dad, not so much. It was typical of the movies; big, scary, intimidating dude that wanted the best for his daughter. I got that, which is why I think I was able to leave alive. Next step, the restaurant, which is where I found that I was mildly allergic to shellfish, which I had never had before. That was fun. Ok so, movie then. Went to see the Hulk, and yea not the cool one, the one with Edward Norton. Turns out she didn’t like violence in movies too much, and that’s basically what I was raised on, so awesome. Well time to go home, but first, the parking lot. There’s the beautiful mustang sitting in all its glory, with the window busted out and dads stuff gone. Bunch of cops (multiple cars were broken into) and over an hour later, I get her home late, with her dad to greet me at the car. All this = no more dates with that one and two pissed off dads. Good times... at least it’s memorable. Sorry it’s more than two or three sentences, It’s tough to short story this one lol
i know it's expensive... but mayyyybe consider renting or borrowing from someone the zeiss 24mm f1.8 🙏🏻 ? i've heard many say it's the best e mount lens right now.
My worst first date involved me being invited to a “Demon Summoning” (Pentagram and all) by a girl I met in my physics small group. Worst 1st date: I picked her up in my sister’s car (which I borrowed so my sister could use my van) to go to a live music show. On the way home I was stopped by the police, handcuffed, and taken to the police station (the car was towed) because the tags on her car were expired, which I did not know about. She was taken home by another officer and the relationship ended shortly after.

What's a "better lens" is so often a difficult question to answer as it depends on so many factors suc as: What kind of photography are you doing? What camera system are you using? Ie what sensor size and thus factor. There are other factors but ultimately these are the first 2 questions to determine a correct answer. For me doing street photography, the 25mm is best as on my m4/3 camera this will give a 50mm FOV and I also like the swirly bokeh that's possible with this lens. If I did mostly portraits, I'd maybe go for the Meike as at 70mm eqv it would be the perfect focal length for this purpose. I know this answer is very late, but I hope it helps anyway :)
How does the sharpness of this lens compare to sony/zeiss 16-70mm? Currently own that lens and would like to have some faster prime, but not at the expense of image quality
This isnt a lens that competes with a zeiss. It is better than other $100 lenses, but not as good as a Sony 35mm or Sigma 30mm or Sony 28mm or Zeiss 16-70.
FYI the Micro Four Thirds version of this lens will not fit on Olympus OM-D E-M10 cameras. It's slightly too large, hits the underside of the flash when you try to insert it.
Can you compare the meike 25mm and the 7artisans please? Would the meike always be better because of the increased focus travel? Also...can you please review the zonlai 22mm 1.8. Thanks

After watching your videos I purchased the 7artisans 7.5mm F2.8 Wide Angle Fisheye lens. I like taking photos with the built in wide angle lens on my android phone. Was so impressed with the fish eye lens I also purchased their 25mm F1.8 lens. Decided to get these instead of the Rokinon you suggested since I'm just a beginner.

I just graduated boot camp and was so excited about the movie date on that first weekend out, well because my body was so conditioned on sleeping immediately after 10pm, I passed out on my lovely date already in the first half of the movie!!!

I'm new to interchangeable lens camera. Purchased Sony a6500 near end of Aug 2017. I have already taken over 4500 photos and videos learninag how to use the camera. What lens will achieve Sharp and crisp photos of nature? I have the Sony 55-210 mm .lens but it doesn't achieve great focus when cropping the photo. Have you ever tested the Sigma 135mm, F1.8 lens on the Sony a6000, a6300, or a6500? It's an expensive lens ($1200 to $1400) so I don't want to buy only to find out it doesn't deliver great focus. I have read some reviews of the lens on full frame Sony a7RII and sounds like it has great consistent focus across the lens even at the F1.8. Would you consider reviewing this lens. If the results are good, I would even consider buying the lens from you (assuming you didn't want to keep it. Thanks for all your reviews. They are really helpful. I'm just a novice at this. You help is appreciated.
Congrats on 40k! Worst first date: We had known each other for some time and went out to a park where we'd played soccer together on a town team. Things were actually going well until we went to kiss but misjudged speed, distance, and angles. I ended up getting head-butted and a fat lip!
Thanks again for your reviews of these useful products for the a6000. Regarding worse first date experience, I took my wife (girl friend then) on first date when I just moved to the US. We were down in SF Chinatown and the street was narrow and my parallel parking was not that great. After a few unsuccessful tries, my gf asked me to get out so she could park the car for me. Can you imagine the embarrassment. Obviously it does not matter as she still married me and we've been together for 39 years. Thanks again.
Great review video as always. I really like that lens. It's very fun to use. The quality is pretty good, especially when you nail the focus. Instead of a lens review, how about trying to review one of the focal reducers, like the Viltrox NF-E mount?

I have this lens and I love. Was looking for a small manual lens and wider than my sigma 30mm f1.4. Got this one instead of the neewer which was at 35mm. Btw you might want to check out the recently announced sigma 16mm f1.4. Its not out yet but looks like it will be priced similarly as the 30mm f1.4 (crossing fingers...)

I saw you had some shots of a young child, they often move around while you're trying to take a picture of them!
Worst first date experience: I used to live in Japan and went on a date with a girl called Yuki who worked at the school I was teaching English at. I was 22 and Japanese girls warmed to me as some blonde English guy... I think it went to my head. But Yuki brought me down to earth hard when she asked me whilst on the date, `What's your talent Paul? I like men with a a TALENT. What is it?'... I had no idea what to say (I am not a guy with secret or professional talents! Although I have friends amazing at playing guitar, singing etc). Yuki ended up marrying an Olympic runner from Kenya who was training in Japan, clearly he had the talent. I have long recovered from my first date Yuki experience and hope to develop some kind of talent with my Sony A6000 for my photos and videos using these interesting Russian and Chinese lenses!
1st date... yeah, I was waiting for her near a park. A random crazy doggo urinated on my jeans from behind so I ended up running after the doggo trying to bash it with a boquet of roses. The worst part? She saw everything and was laughing hysterically.
We need comparison to some other lens on how is the sharpness, color and distortion. Also would be nice to see how the 1.8 gives light compared to lets say 3.5-4 zoom lens.
The problem is there isnt much in this price range. Sony 20mm is $350, Zeiss 24mm is $1098, Batis 25mm is $1234, etc. I think it's closest competitor is the Sigma 30mm F1.4, which will completely destroy it in every comparison, but that is $300. For the $69 price tag, this lens is really, really good.
I dont care about the price in that sense, I want to see if it is worth having at all. So Imho if I can get 95% of the image quality of the 1000€ lens at 100€ I would run to buy it, but if image quality is only 75-80% of the best, then I would not get it even for free but rather wait till I can buy the best or until there is something else new in that segment. But when you say that Sigma 30 will destroy it then I already know it is not worth...
Tough call. This one is a LOT more usable and a lot easier to focus. If you take 10 photos, 9 are good. With the Kamlan, you take 10 photos and 3 are actually in focus because the focal plane is super narrow. The Kamlan is fun, but frustrating at the same time. The 7artisans is just plain fun, and because it's $100 less, I like it more.

Haha you will like it! It is a fun lens and will make you a better photographer, which is worth the price. Plus it seems to be creeping up in price recently - so you wont lose much if you decide to sell it later.
For the past year I have been traveling through asia and australia, meeting alot of people and making many friends. This one guy from my hostel in Brisbane, in which I stayed for a littlebit for work, invited me to go with him to lions football game, he had tickets for. I was super excited going there, cause I havent seen a afl game before ever. We met up a few hours earlier, got a drink and had realy fun talks and laughs. During the the game and a goal from the lions, he started randomly going for a kiss. He cought me completly out of the blue and I was defintiley not preapared for it. I kind of blocked of the kiss and told him that I wasn gay. It would not have been a big deal for me, which I tried to tell him but he was super akward after that and actually left the game earlier. This whole thing happend in just 15 min and took totally by surprise. I felt so sorry for him, and also kind for myself haha That was definitely my most akward/ weird 'date' :D keep up the great work - u helped so much with my purchase descions in the past, thanks! Mine came with an attachment that looks like a "finger doo-hickey" you attach to the focus or aperture ring. Did yours? How do you use it? Thanks.

I have this lens and I love. Was looking for a small manual lens and wider than my sigma 30mm f1.4. Got this one instead of the neewer which was at 35mm. Btw you might want to check out the recently announced sigma 16mm f1.4. Its not out yet but looks like it will be priced similarly as the 30mm f1.4 (crossing fingers...)

There's quite a bit of softness/smearing in the corners in some of those shots. Does that go away when you stop down the lens?
Yes, it improves stopped down. I shot a majority of the shots at F1.8, hence the interesting corners.
How would you compare this to the 35mm meike? I realize they are 10mm different but wondering about sharpness and quality

Worst first date experience: I used to live in Japan and went on a date with a girl called Yuki who worked at the school I was teaching English at. I was 22 and Japanese girls warmed to me as some blonde English guy... I think it went to my head. But Yuki brought me down to earth hard when she asked me whilst on the date, `What's your talent Paul? I like men with a a TALENT. What is it?'... I had no idea what to say (I am not a guy with secret or professional talents! Although I have friends amazing at playing guitar, singing etc). Yuki ended up marrying an Olympic runner from Kenya who was training in Japan, clearly he had the talent. I have long recovered from my first date Yuki experience and hope to develop some kind of talent with my Sony A6000 for my photos and videos using these interesting Russian and Chinese lenses!

1st date... yeah, I was waiting for her near a park. A random crazy doggo urinated on my jeans from behind so I ended up running after the doggo trying to bash it with a boquet of roses.
The worst part? She saw everything and was laughing hysterically.

Better than the a6000 kit lens at 25mm?.
We need comparison to some other lens on how is the sharpness, color and distortion. Also would be nice to see how the 1.8 gives light compared to lets say 3.5-4 zoom lens.
The problem is there isnt much in this price range. Sony 20mm is $350, Zeiss 24mm is $1098, Batis 25mm is $1234, etc. I think it's closest competitor is the Sigma 30mm F1.4, which will completely destroy it in every comparison, but that is $300. For the $69 price tag, this lens is really, really good.
I dont care about the price in that sense, I want to see if it is worth having at all. So Imho if I can get 95% of the image quality of the 1000€ lens at 100€ I would run to buy it, but if image quality is only 75-80% of the best, then I would not get it even for free but rather wait till I can buy the best or until there is something else new in that segment. But when you say that Sigma 30 will destroy it then I already know it is not worth...

Tough call. This one is a LOT more usable and a lot easier to focus. If you take 10 photos, 9 are good. With the Kamlan, you take 10 photos and 3 are actually in focus because the focal plane is super narrow. The Kamlan is fun, but frustrating at the same time. The 7artisans is just plain fun, and because it's $100 less, I like it more.

Haha you will like it! It is a fun lens and will make you a better photographer, which is worth the price. Plus it seems to be creeping up in price recently - so you wont lose much if you decide to sell it later.

Do you need an adaptor for the lens?
Corners were always blurry. Would be nice if you could shoot a test chart and zoom in on the corners.
The point of this lens isn't sharp corners. It's $69 - you have to adjust your expectations.
For the past year I have been traveling through asia and australia, meeting alot of people and making many friends.
This one guy from my hostel in Brisbane, in which I stayed for a littlebit for work, invited me to go with him to lions football game, he had tickets for.
I was super excited going there, cause I havent seen a afl game before ever. We met up a few hours earlier, got a drink and had realy fun talks and laughs.
During the the game and a goal from the lions, he started randomly going for a kiss. He cought me completly out of the blue and I was defintiley not preapared for it.
I kind of blocked of the kiss and told him that I wasn gay. It would not have been a big deal for me, which I tried to tell him but he was super akward after that and actually left the game earlier. This whole thing happend in just 15 min and took totally by surprise. I felt so sorry for him, and also kind for myself haha That was definitely my most akward/ weird 'date' :D

I took my first day to the Denver Museum 100 miles away from the city that we live in, my car broke down in the parking lot when we try to leave she ended up missing work that day and losing her job. We are still good friends though.
