    I would get rock sliders (step style) vs running boards...

  • @ryanread5727
    @ryanread5727 2 роки тому +4

    This video is primarily talking about a Tacoma that will stay in the street, they keep saying “on the trails” when this truck realistically would be extremely non ideal for off-roading. which is not necessarily a bad thing. But I’d recommend to the people who actually plan on going offroad to avoid some of these, especially the spacer lift. You get what you pay for with suspension. And suspension can range anywhere from 200 bucks to 10 grand. Also the side steps aka running boards will easily get ripped off on a trail. Grab yourself some rock sliders that way you can get the proper performance, and protect your doors. Also, lots of companies give you the option to add a kick out so you can use it as a step. Plus that bull bar wouldent really stop anything since how it’s bolted it will go right back into your bumper. I’d say for your first five mods you should go with the following. And if you do these five mods your pretty much set to do anything you want.
    1.) tires, I prefer mud terrains
    2.) shocks/ coilovers I’d say stick with king, icon, fox, or if your on a budget, bilstiens
    3.) upper control arms, I’d recommend sticking with camburg, total chaos, icon, and dirt king, I run camburg
    4.) rock sliders, most brands are fine
    5.) leaf springs, I’d recommend you go with deaver, or icon, deaver preferably.
    If you have any questions feel free to ask.

    I prefer the N-Fab removable steps over running boards. I simply take 'em off before any serious offroading so they provide great rocker protection, and put 'em back on for running around town so the family can easily get in and out. They look fantastic, too. I was warned that they come loose and rattle, but that's simply not true in my case.

    I'm keeping mine 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD off road Cement color bone stock until I pay it off then all heck will break loose. I will re -gear the rear end, new suspension ,new high performance brakes ,new super charger . New off road rubber .off road radio .2 battery set up and built in compressor front and rear real metal bumpers. I love this truck and it only has 16000 miles and is 2 years old. Want to keep it till 300,000.

      That is a wise decision. I couldn't help but to mod some things. Installed Black smoked headlights, tail lights, and side mirror turn signals, tinted the front windows, blacked out the badging, installed 265/75/16 BFG KO2's and Fuel BLITZ wheels, Aftermarket TRD Pro Grill with smoked amber grill lights, LASFIT Switchback LED Fog lights, LED Interior lights, and added a Tacoma Bed Matt (Not really a mod I know). I am resisting the strong urge to lift and add an off road front bumper until it is paid off though.

    I personally prefer to keep my tacoma stock as possible when it comes to the suspension. When you go installing lift kits and big wheels. Your asking for premature wear. I like the idea of a steel bumper and more aggressive tires. and maybe even these wheels in the stock size. But that's just what I prefer.

    Leveling kit...I bought one for my previous Taco, but dont think I'd get one again. I'd prefer factory height or a mid-travel suspension lift.
    I think wheels are the biggest waste of money. They are in the same category are aftermarket headlights...just an exercise in spending money. I like the factory wheels and would rather spend the mo eye on something else.
    I'd prefer a "naked" bed or a bed cap...maybe. I have a cap on the bed of my truck now and it does get in the way when trying to carry anything large like furniture or a refrigerator. I've never had a tonneau cover so not sure if I'd actually like it, but it might be a good compromise between nothing and a cap.
    I've had a few bull bars and would not buy one again. A real overlanding/offroad bumper would be much better. But they are also heavier and more expensive.
    If your rig is just a mall cruiser the side steps are okay. I've had a few different types and would not get them again. They might be very useful for shorter people, but I dont need them. For off-roading, rock slides are required.

    That front bumper thing will rob you of clearance/approachment angle and does really nothing 😖, Gentlemen I suggest a true high clearance bumper like from , C4, Brute Force, Cbi, ect.... ALSO, Stay away from spacers! They will make your ride horrific and off road it's going to suck and eventually your going to break something, stay away from spacers and block lifts....Now if your going to off road ! Go with SLIDERS! Or your going to mess up your nice side steps :) have a good day ! Choose wisely on your 30k+ truck !

    • @ExtremeTerrainToyota
      @ExtremeTerrainToyota  2 роки тому +2

      It really depends on how aggressive the tread pattern on the tires you're looking at is! Even with a leveling kit, we still had a little bit of rubbing with these 265/70R17s because of the aggressive tread on these BFGs. If you're looking at more of a mild all-terrain, you may be able to get away with a larger size tire and no lift. Rubbing may still be a concern though. -Zach

    • @ScreamingSkullSaloon
      @ScreamingSkullSaloon 3 роки тому +2

      Short answer is No. Even with a 3 inch Front and two inch Rear Lift Kit you will most likely rub with 33's. With a leveling kit you can go up to a 31.6 inch without rubbing. The warranty thing is a bit more complicated. Speak with your dealer on that and do your own research before going with a lift kit or even a leveling kit.

      Why? So you can lose 25% of the f150’s value in the first 6 months and then be stuck on the side of the road at least once per year?
      Nah. I just traded in my 4Runner for 1k less than what I paid for it 21k miles ago.
