He grafts a feeble dragon head onto his arm, which he claims to be an ancient dragon. If you use red dragon lightning in the 2nd phase he takes more damage bc it's a feeble dragon

The grafting makes way more sense once you know Godrick got wrecked by Melania. Not only did he get carved up, but he might have become fixated on her prosthetics. He turned to grafting to both repair himself and try to find better parts.
@@ItchiestBum I wish they would have at least changed Godefroy's weapon and the earthshake move though. Sucks that it's literally just Godrick with a "Godefroy" label.
I think it should be noted that because of Godrick's grafting method, the land behind Stormveil became known as Limgrave as in "Limb's grave" where discarded bodyparts are thrown out, "unfit to graft" according to Godrick.
The irony is that Godrick wields perhaps the strongest of the Great Runes, the one that increases all your stats by 5. The rune even is unique in that it symbolizes the "center" of the Elden Ring. The cornerstone of the rest of the Great Runes.
And now he is back in the dlc and deadlier then ever and you have no companions to back you up like last time. Alexander, Blaidd, Harlow all dead perished in their journey yet you the tarnished still remain..
Not just the defeat and begging for mercy. It started with him INSULTING her. He went into the fight thinking he was better than her, and got stomped. I wouldn't even call it 'pride', since the word implies the skills to match it. This was 'arrogance', or maybe even 'hubris' (from greek myth) would apply since she was an empyrean capable of ascending to full godhood.
Something I think is interesting is that, arguably, you could claim that during the Shattering Godrick was one of, if not THE most brave and cunning, or at the very least there's a case to be made that cowardice and cunning aren't so diffrent until after the fact, and that arrogance can be a bravery all on its own. Think about it, when fleeing from Leyndell, instead of fighting a foe, or foes, that he absolutely could not win, he escaped in such a manner that preserved what little strength he had. (And, based upon the description of the mimics veil, he fled while escaping with a not so insignifigant amount of artifacts from Leyndell.) Then, he takes Stormveil Castle, one of the largest Castles in the lands between, and holds it against RAHDAHN of all the demi-gods (call it cowardice or strategy, it's a feat either way considering what we know of the Starscourge). Then, depending on the timeliness of course, he challenges Malaenia to combat, and based off of the description it would seem he challenged her to 1-on-1 combat. And although he lost, he still fought well enough to not be instantaneously killed by her, and live long enough to plead for his life. Which, while cowardly, is the choice to make if your fighting to win, not just for honor. And, considering the muddled nature of the timeliness, and that Morgott, who fought during the Shattering, recalls him as "The Golden" it is likely Godricks descent into Grafting happened AFTER all of these things. Sickly, weak, and of diluted divinity, Godrick still accomplished a lot for one called foolish and craven. I personally think there was a lot more to Godrick than simply cowardice. Perhaps, had things ended differently, he truly could have become worthy of the title of "Golden"
Actually, it would make sense that Godrick would graft right after his fight with Malenia. After all he had a whole army that was willing to fight with him and if you were to do such things as grafting what is known as a vile act then they would've surely lost faith, No? Cause according to some descriptions(If I remember it correct) left him after seeing his downfall.
Aww, now I feel like Godrick only saw the negatives in himself, rather than acknowledge his commendable accomplishments. Kind of want to see a series of Godrick's entire life, from birth till the point we meet him. Actually, of any character in Elden Ring.
I feel bd for Godrick , seems like he was born lesser/weak compared to his kin cause hes not a direct descendant of the golden lineage, so most of his siblings would surpass him just from birthright alone. He probably feels like he was born as the runt of the family which kinda sucks just simply due to birth right , its no wonder why hes so cowardly: hes probably been scared all his life due to the fact that he probably cant defend himself should one of his own "kin" attack him. The cirumstances of his birth were unfair and its probably why he turned into such a depraved anus.
Being weak isn't really an excuse because the player character is very weak and is not even a descendant of the golden order but still kills all the demi gods just by sheer fucking will. If he had a warrior's spirit he might have been a great and respectable warrior, even tho i think we need pathetic characters like him, not everyone can be like Godfrey.
@@slicky5282 It's a bad comparison to use the player character. A non speaking, player character who's past we don't know. For all we know he/she could have been born into a loving family. Godrick, on the other hand was a weak pitiful man never given the slightest bit of respect. I agree with you that he is pathetic and an asshole, but using the player comparison is just wrong.
@@deckedpluto2429 you're half right but not fully, it doesn't matter if the player had a loving family or not because grace abandoned them and they turned into a tarnished, which is the lowest of the low. Everyone acts superior when fighting you, even Godrick. Even he is above you. The only enemy who doesnt disrespect you at all is Godfrey/Horah Loux, because he himself is a tarnished like you.
@@slicky5282 that doesn’t mean anything, Godrick acting superior is simply him being insecure. Like I said using the player character in this debate doesn’t work there are too many unknowns about them.
I remember seeing the Godrick scene in the Elden Ring trailers and thinking he was gonna be like the final boss. Now 50 hours into the game, he seems so easy in hindsight.
I think out of all the Demigods, he has possibly the greatest potential to BE the strongest. He could graft a Dragons head, albeit a weak one, instantly. Imagine if he got his hand on some actually good limbs to graft.
If he'd have chilled, I'd have taken him to see the sleeping dragon. That one seemed like a good choice for spare parts. Maybe grab some dog parts while we are up there. Could have helped me kill Malenia.
Graft list for lord-to-be: Runebear hindlimbs for pouncing. Subterranean-Shunning Grounds Lobster/Crayfish for core body and blood-shot. Giant Hands from Caria Manor for general frickery. Servant of Rot pest-shot glands to enliven your day. Giant Crow Wings for mobility. Wormhead heads to spew Deathblight. Real Ancient Dragons from Farum Azula to master thunder and flame. I don't even want to think what sort of abomination you could make with these ingredients. But I doubt it would be able to cling to it's humanity.
I think the concept of Godrick being "weak" is more about driving home just how much of a world of fantasy the Lands Between are. Beyond being a spectacular boss, the principle of grafting is so terrifying powerful, similar to the ants in HunterXHunter for example, something that has a whiff of "the ultimate power" you know, being able to endlessly expand and absorb other lifeforms. His theme is incredible as well.
True but everything is relative, he's called a 'runt' after all. He's still the ruler of Stormveil and Limgrave overall so he isn't totally a nobody you're quite right. But Radahn, Miquela and Malenia are so brilliant that he looks like a candle next to a bonfire. Then there's his progenitor Godfrey/Hoarah Loux. A tarnished, not born from a god, who raised himself high enough to be acceptable as a God's consort and is admired even by demigods like Radahn. Poor Godrick tbh. He's powerful but others are just so much more.
I think Godrick is a descendant of Godwyn, who was Godfrey and Marika's first child since he is acknowledged as a demi god but one whos blood has been diluted greatly.
Great that you mentioned Godefroy. My interpretation was that Godrick is so pathetic that he couldn't come up with his own technique so he took it from an ancestor. Godefroy was sent to jail and shunned from the rest of the lineage. Scratched out from history, so we never hear about him. Shunned from either taking part in some prior rebellion or because he was grafting. Maybe he was part of whatever Rykard did before leaving to Volcano Manor?
@Charles Hastings rykard allowed himself to be consumed by the god devouring serpent and as such fused with it in hopes of gaining more power by, well, devouring gods. once defeated and returning to his boss arena you find tanith feasting upon his remains possibly in the hope of becoming a vessel for rykard as he is immortal
mine is that From had already reskined all non-demigod enemies for evergaols and was out of ideas so they just went “fuck this lets just reskin the first demigod of the game and call it idk godefrOy? how about that?” there’s probably no lore attached because from knew we would make something up ourselves to justify it. such a wack idea to pick one of the most unique boss models and moveset and just clone them into the game with another name as if we as players are going to buy that goddrick had an ancestor that looked EXACTLY like him and had the EXACT same battle style. godefroy should’ve been cut.
He was born into a destiny that he would never be able to achieve. Unlike some of the other shardbearers whose glory is behind them, Godrick yearned for glory he never had and never could have gotten. He hesitated even to take the power of the dragon (only doing so in the heat of battle after already being injured), but once he gets that power he calls upon his ancestors to BEAR WITNESS, feeling in that moment that he had finally lived up to them. Unfortunately, he was in battle with the next Elden Lord, and so, again, he never had a chance of achieving that destiny he felt was his. Call him weak, call him craven, call him a monster, but he only did what he could to live up to the standards that were set for him.
Tragic... To be called the runt of the litter. Pi%%ed and mocked at. You would do anything to seek vengeance. If it meant to become a grafter, stealing magic and powers to become an amalgamation of a monster...
On my new playthrough after defeating him, I saw one of the castle residents stomping the weak looking corpse of Godrick, because he got mocked by him and what not. I killed the guy for doing it. It’s a really nice detail
"Honestly, Godrick’s no more than a jumped up country bumpkin. Lord? Don’t make me laugh. First he hid himself amongst the womenfolk to flee the capital, then hid from Radahn in that castle… Then he insulted Malenia, lost to her in battle, only to lick her boots rather than die like a man. Has he no shame, the big girl’s blouse? And to think, he’s the blood of Godfrey! Last of the golden lineage, though you almost wouldn’t know it to look at him. I almost feel sorry for the chap the more I think of it." - kenneth haight
Lmao, Kenneth. He's right about everything, except for that part about dying like a man. Kenneth's got some damn nerve saying that, considering he fled like a coward when his own Fort fell to an invader. Why didn't he die like a man?
Godrick’s one of my favorite Elden Ring bosses. He gave me a beating the first time, but his attacks are really fair and easy to predict/bait out. He’s also narratively interesting, in my opinion. I didn’t know all this info about him, just that he was seen as the weakest in the lineage. I hope you’ll make a video on Rykard next, he’s really cool
He was probably one of the best boss designs in the game. Moveset wise, it was fair but challenging to the player, if you fought him at the intended 30-40 lvl
@@outsidechambaz he was the perfect encounter for new players. Margit was somewhat overwhelming to newcomers such as myself, but Godrick, while tough, was still very fair. He didn’t have any bullshit moves either. Plus, the OST didn’t have the right to go as hard as it does
With as much as Godrick fascinates me, I truly wish Grafting was an available type of magic the player could use. Instead of based off of Arcane or Faith it was based of off Endurance, or something.
God I am so grateful that this is not the case. Grafting is grotesquely disgusting and morbid I feel to do that is to literally give up your own humanity. I'm glad that it is not something the player character can do.
@@Vyantri Bro, you can murder innocents and curse them locking em out of the afterlife, tf u talking abt, shit you can destroy the entire fucking world

@@DavidVillaTorre agreement. I like to think that when he Grafted that Dragon’s head, he actually reached something like the power he’d been maiming himself for so long to gain. Almost like the Major from Hellsing Ultimate-just ecstatic that after a lifetime of wanting to be good at something he sucked at, he “finally hit something”. Know what I mean?
I find it funny how Gideon completely fails to acknowledge that you killed Godrick in his summary of the demigods despite the fact you will almost certainly have killed him to get to the point of being able to hear that line of dialogue
Dont you need to kill 2 lords to get there? You could slip past the castle from the side and kill the moon waifu boss and then either kill Rykard or go back to Radahn so it is possible
Yea it just kinda vanishes after Stormveil and Godrick, and grafted enemies are quite rare elsewhere in the game. Woulda loved to seen some hideous grafted creatures or something that were experiments or made into ferocious guardians of some sort
Well it doesn't disappear completely. The giants hand enemies of Caria manor are probably a result from grafting, and Rykard was fused to that serpent in a method most likely similar to the grafting Godrick did.
Interesting note is that Godrick is the only true heir to the throne, as grafting is never told off as being a graceless act, merely feble and deplorable. All other demigods and shard bearers are either against, disconnected from, or have blasphemed in the eyes of, the golden order. Morgot is an omen, and thus is unfit to rule due to his cursed blood, and same with Mohg. Miquella and Melania both rebelled against the golden order and sought to replace it. Rykard gave himself to the god devouring serpent with his goals being to userp the golden order. Renala is unfit due to her lack of royal blood and her unhinged mental state. Ranni is acting out against the golden order, and seeking to over throw it. Radahn has rotted away, and even before, he was working outside of the order for his own benefit. Finally, of course, Godwyn is dead, and Godefroy is imprisoned. Godrick embraces his role in the order, and is sound enough of mind to realize who he is and should/could be, and thus, is the only true heir to the throne fit to claim the title of elden lord. I also find it interesting that his form of seeking power, at least through the lense of holism, is far more sacred than the likes of any of the other gods and how they asertain any amount of power for themselves. Is grafting any less valid of a way to seek power than to bind oneself to a blasphemous serpent, or than being born with omen strength and acursed blood? Is grafting any less valid than harnessing the power of the stars or than harnessing the powers of an alternative rot god? In fact, all other demigods who have any amount of power, at least in some way, pull from another outer god, or another such source. The serpent, the dark moon, the stars, the rot, the formless mother, all are blasphemous and non-golden forms of power, where as graphting isn't inherently embracing another god, so, in the eyes of the greater will, may be a more valid, or less blasphemous, alternative to achieving power. After all, Godfrey "grafted" the beast Serosh upon his back, and Marika and Radagon "grafted" themselves into one being. (Both in the non-traditional sense, but still, its bindinf of multiple beings into one.)
Well, since Elden Lord is the title of the consort to the Elden Ring’s vessel/god, more appropriate is that he had the strongest claim to the throne of Leyndell.
Oddly refreshing to hear about the conclusion of Nepheli Loux's questline. From loves sad endings but I'm glad that we can have a couple of happier ones here and there. Too bad I burned down everything with the Flame of Frenzy at the end.
I Personally say I feel sorry for Godrick. Because no matter how much he tries to prove that he is a Lord that is deserving respect, constantly shows time and time again that he is not deserving of such things like being called a Lord due to his coward Ness and his obsession taking the power and strength others but never fostering his own strength. He’s like a child that just wants to be seeing as a Lord but not knowing the right methods on earning both the respect and The right of being called a Lord.🐱
@@superxdish Yeah!! I don't understand why nobody sees that the Tarnished is killing people to steal their power in the form of runes. You're not training super hard to gain vitality or dexterity, you're empowering yourself with the power of the runes. The only difference with Godrick is that he's using the limbs of the Tarnished to gain even more power. The entire game is you going from a weakling to Elden lord, Godrick is just going about it more slowly.
I just feel bad for Godrick tbh. All he wanted was to live up to his name but couldn’t since he was just too weak. He wanted his ancestors to recognize him as a part of their lineage but they never did, instead they ridiculed him and rejected him. Eventually, he took up the disgusting act of grafting for any power he could get. In a last ditch effort to kill the Tarnished he takes the head of a sacred dragon to lend its power but he couldn’t take full control of it (shown by him barely using it for direct attacks when he grafts it to him during the second phase). Probably one of my favorite boss lores.
In fairness, the chopping of his own hand off and replacing it with a dragons head was pretty badass:) As pathetic as he made out to be, he kicked my arse pretty hard.
It's weird but I feel like Godrick could actually have a snowball effect and take over if he new the right people to graft and was smarter with his fights.
Actually in his first cutscene, Godrick refers the dragon as foremost of the dragons and his kindred spirits. But note that it is not a true dragon but a wyvern with two wings and two legs, a real dragon would be much bigger with four wings and four legs.. He definitely sees the dragon as his kindred spirit as they are both seen as rip offs of the original family and our less powerful.
One thing I found interesting about the grafted scion is that it’s actually a clever double entendre that may or may not have been intended by the developers. A scion in the process of grafting is the young shoot or twig that’s cut for grafting, however a scion is also a descendent of a noble family, and since godrick and his followers took to grafting to cement their power it makes sense that the grafted scions are actually godricks nobles.
Unless there’s additional context I’m missing that tells us Godrick wants to return to *Leyndell* “bathed in rays of gold,” I think this actually hints at a connection between grafting and the real source of power of the erdtree’s (or Greater Will’s, really) chosen gods and Demi-gods. Long story short, I think that grafting is a poor attempt to mimic the way the erdtree (the source of the Golden Order’s power) developed its own power. I’ve been rolling this idea around in my head for a while, and I’m starting to think it’s more than coincidental connections. From what we know, no one truly “dies” in the Lands Between due to the death rune being removed from the elden ring. Instead, those who “die” return to the erdtree (if they’re worthy; otherwise they basically roam around undead). From all of the corpses we see entangled in the roots of the various erdtrees scattered around, and especially from the living jars we see shattered around every minor erdtree (who, as we know from Alexander’s quest line, are basically pots filled and empowered by warrior-corpse soup), it seems like the erdtree(s) actually grow by integrating people who would otherwise be dead into its own being. This last part is somewhat more speculative, but I’m convinced that the erdtree (and by extension the Elden Beast, and the various descendants of Marika, whose original divinity was granted by the Greater Will via the erdtree) developed its power by integrating little bits of power from every living thing that died near its roots into its own being. Little by little, this added up into enough power that Marika and her descendants, when granted a portion of it, could be considered gods and Demi-gods. As for how this relates to grafting, this seems like the desperate attempt of a weak man to recreate the divinity-by-amalgamated-power that his ancestors held/hold. In a way, the erdtree *does* graft people to itself, but Godrick can only mimic this in a much more rudimentary way. This is why Godrick the Grafted is so stuck on this desire to return home bathed in rays of gold. He wants to return to the glory of the erdtree, to the divinity and strength his ancestors held, but which he can only create a pathetic copy of.
If Godrick could harness his inherited Great Rune himself he would’ve attained the power that was rightfully his. That’s why his real name is Godrick, the Golden. He possesses the strongest, and most important Great Rune. So when you harness his Great Rune for yourself it amplifies ALL of your powers immensely. So if a Demi-God could harness his Great Rune, given their innate monstrous power, they’d be insanely powerful. Godrick would probably be the strongest. The catch is the Demi-Gods can’t access the true power of the Elden Ring, nor the pieces that they possess; However, a Tarnished can. Which is why the Tarnished were summoned in the first place. The deific lineage that Godrick was so obsessed with is what prevented him from attaining the power that was rightfully his. Realizing this cruel reality he started grafting parts to attain whatever strength that he could. Clinging to his inheritance. So someone (You) came along, and took the latent power from within him.
Great video! One of the best lore videos ive seen. Details are well explained and substantiated with in-game evidence, unlike other creators that seem to be bridging a lot of gaps in their explanations.
Amazing work man! Keep it up! Seriously excited to have more of these videos and learn about the lore, the game is definitely enigmatic but has a ton of interesting history to it.
Godrick is like an evil version of ludleth from dark souls 3. Ludleth is the smallest and weakest of the lords of cinder, but his intentions are good. He stays loyal to his role as lord and accepts his responsibilities. He accepts his own smallness and weakness and helps you the player by crafting you sick weapons and even gives you advice. He probably is the reason there is still light for you to see in the world of ds3 at all.
You know, it would have been interesting if you faced Godrick right before his grafting escapade, and would try to surrender right before you killed him like Patches does. Maybe have a branching quest line where you can help him get back to Lieyndell, or make him desperate enough to graft himself into oblivion.
the reason godrick is my fav boss is that he rlly has feelings similar to what someone irl might feel for example godrick just wants to be good enough to be acknowledged by his ancestors which can be like how we want to be good enough kids so our parents r proud of us and he goes as far as to think that a normal dragon rlly is a true dragon (true dragons like - placidusax, fortisax etc-) his vision is blinded with that thought snd it rlly imitates life and art in my opinion
Some notes! A couple times I refer to Godfrey as the Golden, I meant to say his son Godwyn. If you want more Godrick lore, check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvXst...
This could be a stretch to say, but I don’t think I noticed it until I fought Godfrey near the end: Godrick was not only obsessed with power, but he went so far as to make himself a grotesque mockery of the family member he idolized. Im pretty sure he and Godfrey are the same size and he even wields an axe similar to how Godfrey does. However, like you mentioned, Godfrey was so powerful and brutish as a tarnished that he sook out Serosh to quell his bloodlust and humble himself, while Godrick was so meek and cowardly that he performed inhumane actions like grafting to mimic a fraction of his relative’s power, even grafting an “ancient dragon” (which I’m sure is just one from Dragonbarrow that was afflicted with rot based on the sores. Ancient Dragons are NOT that small and have that dreaded red lightning) just to get an edge. But hey, if he’s the weakest of the demigods, that’s no small feat given how hard he hits the tarnished. Not to mention EVERYONE gets humiliated by Melania, so I feel for his groveling for mercy.
IMO, it ain’t even his fault. He was the son of somebody who was far, far away from Godfrey in blood, so he didn’t have much trace of his heritage left. He wished to live up to his lineage, so he did whatever he could, but nothing prevailed. Maybe the blood is the secret after all. Yharnamites know that much lol
Funny that Malenia is depicted as a badass who’s “never known defeat” but she’s only fought Godrick and Radahn, and she was losing to the latter til she forced a stalemate.
Game disagrees. Sword Monument in Caelid: "The Battle of Aeonia Radahn and Malenia locked in stalemate Then, the scarlet rot blooms." Malenia was not losing, but stalemated by Radahn. She bloomed to end the stalemate.
we also know radahn was holding the stars during their fight malenia resorted to nuking him to him and the gigachad still didnt go down@@matiasluukkanen7718
Godrick is a highly underrated character, technically he isn't a true demigod yet he still managed to be considered a lord, he took over stormveil castle and he even contended against malenia of course he lost but she didn't manage to kill him
Dude this is the best Godrick lore video on UA-cam. You tie in so many pieces that larger creators tried and failed, or didn't even try at all. Thanks so much. Subbed.
I wonder if Stormveil will continue to rot now that Godrick isnt its Lord anymore. Imo the rot is linked to the Prince of death body we find deep under Stormveil but there's still a possibility it was linked to Godrick and his grafting
I thought the Shattering happened after Godwyn's death. So there wasn’t any council left for Godrick to be a member of. The blood of Godfrey is the Golden lineage. Maybe Godrick was a distant relative of Godfrey or maybe an illegitimate son of his.
I like how different Godrick is from most Souls bosses. Usually, Soulsborne bosses are strong almost godly legendary warriors at their worst (Radahn being rotted, Artorias being corrupted by the Abyss, Gael being almost hollowed...) and then you have Godrick, a lame almost pathetic Demigod that you fight *at his prime*.
@@ChampionVictor-cv5lh sorry I was referring to how his limping is a combined side effect of his diluted blood to Marika and through his grotesque Act of grafting. Adding another implication of how weak he is.
Whats fun about his grafting is that grafting as a process is mainly used on trees. Citrus trees take really well to grafting and can end up producing not only their original fruit but the fruit of whatever tree was grafted to them too.
I sure wish the Nepheli quest wasn't bugged for me. "I smell in this ash the ancient storm." Damn I wonder where you could go to follow up on that! Kenny and Gostoc are all ready for you!!

Tbh I don’t blame him for losing to Melania, she probably bullshitted him with water fuck you dance. As for him begging for his life and escaping the capital, well as a wise bloody finger hunter once said “you must flee, there is no shame in self preservation” Godrick is a 10/10 character, one of the best in the series
Since the mimic veil copies inanimate objects I love the idea that Godrick was just like... Pretending to be a box rolling down the stairs when he fled.
Its actually quite heartwarming. From those who regain some humanity like Ludwig to those in madness to embrace monstrosity, he truly believed himself worthy. And he was, of challenging us and being happy with himself even till the end
The dragon Godrick calls "Truest of Dragons" isn't a very strong dragon. It's just the kin of stronger dragons. Kinda a metaphor for Godrick himself, no?
Two years late but Godrick is one of my favorite characters of all time. I hate/love killing him. And now he is back in the dlc and deadlier then ever and you have no companions to back you up like last time. Alexander, Blaidd, Harlow all dead perished in their journey yet you the tarnished still remain..
I wouldn’t call losing to Malenia humiliating, I lost to her about 50 times.
It's not the loss, but him begging for his life.
@@resra45 Exactly. Both armies likely all witnessed it too.
Sounds hot.
She probably stole all his HP
a cool detail with godrick is if he kills you during second phase he says "didst thou witness, Godfrey?"
"great Godfrey, didst thou witness?"
I struggled an embarrassing amount with this boss and heard that SO many times
Something I think is interesting is that, arguably, you could claim that during the Shattering Godrick was one of, if not THE most brave and cunning, or at the very least there's a case to be made that cowardice and cunning aren't so diffrent until after the fact, and that arrogance can be a bravery all on its own.
Think about it, when fleeing from Leyndell, instead of fighting a foe, or foes, that he absolutely could not win, he escaped in such a manner that preserved what little strength he had. (And, based upon the description of the mimics veil, he fled while escaping with a not so insignifigant amount of artifacts from Leyndell.)
Then, he takes Stormveil Castle, one of the largest Castles in the lands between, and holds it against RAHDAHN of all the demi-gods (call it cowardice or strategy, it's a feat either way considering what we know of the Starscourge).
Yeah, everything considered, Godrick has this "sympathetic underdog" aspect to him
Capable? Sure. Accomplished? Maybe. Worthy of praise? Certainly not in The Lands Between.
A whole game about grafting would sure be a cool thing to have
I feel bd for Godrick , seems like he was born lesser/weak compared to his kin cause hes not a direct descendant of the golden lineage, so most of his siblings would surpass him just from birthright alone.

Well it doesn't disappear completely. The giants hand enemies of Caria manor are probably a result from grafting, and Rykard was fused to that serpent in a method most likely similar to the grafting Godrick did.
@@carlfromaccounting1112 that's true I was just expecting it to be more heavier in the overall plot itself
This never crossed my mind till I read your comment never really thought about it like that
damn you cooked i aint gonna lie
Malenia and miquella were both born cursed they never tried to harness any power of the sort they were just unlucky

TO BE FAIR, I do not fault him from hiding from General Radahn, or begging Melenia for mercy!
I respect godrick, he managed to become very strong even though he was born weaker
Forefathers, one and all... *BEAR **_WITNESS!_*
Just my favourite line. The gravitas in his voice.
Despite of that, his territory is among the safest place in elden ring. And i respect that.
Manz seriously about keeping the peace.
Figured, cuz only a tarnished can access the elden ring, so by adding the parts of slain tarnished to himself its the next best thing
"Forefathers one and all bare Witness!"

I don't think Ludleth is the weakest. He's basically out of his prime when you meet him.
You know, it would have been interesting if you faced Godrick right before his grafting escapade, and would try to surrender right before you killed him like Patches does. the reason godrick is my fav boss is that he rlly has feelings similar to what someone irl might feel for example godrick just wants to be good enough to be acknowledged by his ancestors which can be like how we want to be good enough kids so our parents r proud of us and he goes as far as to think that a normal dragon rlly is a true dragon (true dragons like - placidusax, fortisax etc-) his vision is blinded with that thought snd it rlly imitates life and art in my opinion

Godrick started grafting could have enough limbs to play that sick boss ost of his. I imagine him playing it like a mad Davey Jones plays his organ.
This is such a good video! Great work!
My man Godrick just wanted acknowledgement and approval from his family. I feel bad for him
IMO, it ain’t even his fault. He was the son of somebody who was far, far away from Godfrey in blood, so he didn’t have much trace of his heritage left. He wished to live up to his lineage, so he did whatever he could, but nothing prevailed. Maybe the blood is the secret after all. Yharnamites know that much lol
Now that we know that Marika was a shaman, and they fuse bodies to each other, Godrick's and Godefroy's grafting starts to make more sense.

I love this man, best boi in the entire game. His falls actually made me love him more
Easily my favorite soulsring boss ever. He might’ve lived as a coward, but he goes out like a badass.
I like that it looks like he is draped in curtains and banners, he doesn't have proper armor. He is just "thrown together"
I want to find who is stealing the bellies and intestines of the giants. I want to ask them "why?".
People’s gotta shit faster yknow
where did u find this info
"I am the Lord.. of all that is GOLDEN..!!"
*Flails around with a Placidusax Head whilst firing a Golden Beam like a lunatic*
I love that his "humiliation" is fearing two of the strongest people in the entire war. Pretty dumb of him to shit talk Malenia though.
The expectation. I feel bad for Godrick, due to the Golden Lineage, he wanted to live up to that. It feels relatable... somehow
Credit to the voice actor, every line spoken by this character was incredible.
"Look down, on me, would you? Godrick? you filthy slug. feel it! feel it! feel my bloody wrath!" (Proceeds to lightly curb stomp godrick) 🤣
Not gonna lie I back stabbed that POS lol
Godrick is a highly underrated character, technically he isn't a true demigod yet he still managed to be considered a lord, he took over stormveil castle and he even contended against malenia of course he lost but she didn't manage to kill him
Dude this is the best Godrick lore video on UA-cam. You tie in so many pieces that larger creators tried and failed, or didn't even try at all. Thanks so much. Subbed.
Glad to hear you enjoyed so much!
You see, the mimic veil allows you to assume the aspect of objects nearby, so it makes sense that godrik could assume the aspect of women
wow
Best comment
An ironic statement coming from a tool.
Real.
I wonder if Stormveil will continue to rot now that Godrick isnt its Lord anymore. Imo the rot is linked to the Prince of death body we find deep under Stormveil but there's still a possibility it was linked to Godrick and his grafting
It does with Nepheli
@@rockstar-made that's true, but I posted this comment before the update that put Nepheli in the throne room of Stormveil lol
When i saw him for the first time i literally found him badass and when i saw the scriptures on the sword monument i was like "Bro"
“Mimics veil is used to make you appear like a nearby object, so he used it to mimic the fleeing women.”
Based my dude. Based.
I wonder why he was granted a seat in the royal court in Lyndell instead of Godwyn since Godrick wasn’t even a proper heir of the golden lineage.
Maybe he inherited Godwyn's seat after the Night of Black Knives?
Both were called "the golden" after all, implying some connection
Honestly that dialogue from Kenneth haight was hilarious.
If you pay more attention to Godricks movement. His grafting, whenever he walks towards you, gives off the impression that he's limping.
Do you think he might of some sort of illness that turned him into what he was?
@@ChampionVictor-cv5lh sorry I was referring to how his limping is a combined side effect of his diluted blood to Marika and through his grotesque Act of grafting. Adding another implication of how weak he is.
Loosing to Malenia gets you an automatic inclusion into a secret covenant, the covenant of "Ricks", and GodRick is the God of that covenant.
I know how you feel Godrick, I lost to Melania too and begged for mercy as well. No shame my guy
This was so good man thank you for making this, would love to see one on Margit
Whats fun about his grafting is that grafting as a process is mainly used on trees. Citrus trees take really well to grafting and can end up producing not only their original fruit but the fruit of whatever tree was grafted to them too.
Godrick: The grotesque, old, sullied blooded fool who yearns for power still managed to kick my ass 30 times. Thank you Elden Ring.
I sure wish the Nepheli quest wasn't bugged for me. "I smell in this ash the ancient storm." Damn I wonder where you could go to follow up on that! Kenny and Gostoc are all ready for you!!
Do these for more bosses for sure this was awesome
Am in progress!
Well, Godrick, you gave me the most goosebumps during your cutscenes.
Wait, no, that was Radahn. You gave me the second most goosebumps during your cutscenes. Wait, no, that was Radagon. You gave me the third most goosebumps during your cutscene.
Yeah, that sounds right.
That boss fight was nuts it's my first souls game so I'm just blown away by the detail in these bosses
Tbh I don’t blame him for losing to Melania, she probably bullshitted him with water fuck you dance.
As for him begging for his life and escaping the capital, well as a wise bloody finger hunter once said “you must flee, there is no shame in self preservation”
Godrick is a 10/10 character, one of the best in the series
Yo! This is such a greatly edited video! Mic is smooth and the aura is amazing!! More please!
The storm lord was the lord of Stormveil which Godfrey defeated the last, just before being exiled, he wasn't a dragon
Since the mimic veil copies inanimate objects I love the idea that Godrick was just like... Pretending to be a box rolling down the stairs when he fled.
Can't wait for the episode of "To catch a Predator", featuring Mohg, Lord of Blood.
4:04 the item allows the player to mimic nearby "objects" so godrick used it to disguise himself as a women LMAO
When Roderika says everybody has been grafted it sounds like she is questioning it. “Everyone’s… been grafted?”
Another great video. Loving your content.
Thanks! Im really glad to hear it
Its actually quite heartwarming. From those who regain some humanity like Ludwig to those in madness to embrace monstrosity, he truly believed himself worthy. And he was, of challenging us and being happy with himself even till the end
5:30 holy balls, I missed that evergaol. I'm almost done and just delaying meeting the final bosses as I kinda don't want the game to end lol
My man was out here trying to become a real LEGO with all these parts.
The dragon Godrick calls "Truest of Dragons" isn't a very strong dragon. It's just the kin of stronger dragons. Kinda a metaphor for Godrick himself, no?
Two years late but Godrick is one of my favorite characters of all time. I hate/love killing him. Hate it because he's my favorite and I feel bad about killing him considering his story, but love it because using his axe and the grafted dragon you get from his rememberance can let you do some nasty work against enemies. Also, his voice lines are immaculately done. The BEAR WITNESSSS is my favorite. RIP Godrick, I love using the tiny little dragon you dropped.
I felt such pity for him, may he find more peace in the next life than he did in this one.
With all the grafted arms, the great rune, loss of fear, and the DragonsHead of fire I wonder howd he fare against malenia he should as least solo her first phase at worst.
For me he was difficult.
i had a too weak built and he came right after margit.
The hero girl helped me.
Thanks for posting, people were posting lore too quick and didn’t incorporate some details that you did
Due to having "The Golden" as a moniker I assume that he directly descended from Godwyn.
