I own do 2004 awd 1.6
I own a 2000 Hr-V 1.6 manual with 350k on the clock, I use it for weekend bush camping, I call it the mountain goat.
2003 CVT-automatic, recently dinged 180k (km)
It just snowed first snow here and although the gearbox needs maintenance, she performs so well out there; crawling and wheeling snowed out urban environment with stops, tight corners and turns, leading sharply but softly drifting when given revs on a turn.
Have hauled 2 people, set of tools and a small trailer through knee deep snow without a one loose spin of the wheel.

Love to see a 1st gen Rav4 vs 1st gen CR-V. As far as I know, the transmission in the HR-V should be the same as the 1st gen CR-V.
not the same as hrv has a d series engine and cr-v has a b series, but works exactly the same

I used to have first CR-V (on my Channel there is 0-100) and 4wd system did suprise me couple of times in a good way. Reliable every day car with nice capabilities in moderate terrain. Very comfortable too
I had an Outback around that age of the Forester that supposedly came with a limited slip rear differential from the factory. It was useless.
The WRX Had the Same. This LSD dies Not have an segnificant locking capability and only dies some Magic when driving threw normal corners.
Modern cars do better because of their ESP system which brakes individual wheels. These cars have no ESP, meaning no traction. That's why locking diffs were invented.
no ESP can replace mechanical diff lock ;) . that's why old, fully mechanical 4x4/AWD's still rule the wild .

If nothing goes you can use the brake while accelerating.
They both have no diff locks, but Subaru is full-time AWD and HRV is on-demand AWD.

I have a 1999 sports model & so far I am loving this car & where it can go: no issues as yet : just under 200k & I bought her for $1500 cash: fixed a few minor things which was fairly cheap & she’s now all registered & driving beautifully :
HR-V had CR-V 4x4 transmission even front brakes... but lightweight, actually HR-V had better traction than CR-V, HR-V is worth to boy allways its a good city car but it had awesome 4x4 and highway skills
May be you can test ML W163 and, for example, X5 E53?

How to activate the 4wd in the 2003 honda hrv?
It is mechanical and automatic, no activation.

very strange test....and honda HR-V 1,2 generation is ,,real time,, 4wd not AWD. All the wheels lost traction?! what is the point? old cars...corect is 1 wheels have grip and 3 no. Or 2 in diagonal...
I have no idea what you mean. In these tests there are 2 wheels with no traction: front or side (which is the same situation for the system as diagonal).
I know both. The Honda is better, but you can clearly tell that the Subaru has more horsepower

Yes, that would be the same situation for the system as if two front wheels are on the rollers.

@@TemoTemo1995 Max and peak torque split is ~70/30. In this generation of real time awd rear wheels are powered only when front ones are slipping, that's only reactive system.

Czemu tak krótko? proszę o więcej hrv, nawet jakby miało wyjść ze ma słaby naped na 4..
Krótko gdyż tu nie ma co więcej sprawdzać, przód i tył otwarte dyfry, żadnych elektronicznych wspomagaczy.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers A w hrv nie ma takiego samego napędu w CRV? W sensie że z tego co kojarzę tam też nie ma blokad. Chyba że ESP robi różnicę, ale tu akurat jestem laikiem.
@@desperatedriver2857 Wszystko się zgadza, w CR-V (I, II i w zasadzie III) jest taki sam napęd, jak w HR-V. Różnicę robi ESP, a dokładniej jego podsystem - TC (kontroli trakcji).
What about only one wheel with traction ?
Both failed when two wheels had traction, so there was no sense to make more tests.
he didnt do a front wheel only test either. I guess they gave up after being so disappointed.
@@An.Individual We did front and side tests. It is not the point of disappointment but mechanics. Both cars shift power only between front and back. HR-V doesn't have any side-to-side helper. Forester has rear lsd but it was too weak or too old to work properly.
Disappointing that neither of them could handle the 2nd test.

Нашли что сравнивать. Форестер совершенно другой класс машины а H-rv можно сравнить с Тойотой Филдер 4 вд. Филдер одноклассник Хонде. Можно сравнить с Тойотой Кариб, это будет ближе. Как внедорожник H-rv никакая, владею такой десят лет, Карибу и в пометки не годится. Чисто городская машина ездить зимой по сопкам Владивостока, что я и делаю. Жаль что Карибы очень рано сняли с производства, для сельской местности и рыболовов, охотников незаменимая техника, немного лифта и машина огонь, кто со мной не согласен, обоснуйте.

To stare samochody, HR-V nie ma żadnych wspomagaczy pomiędzy lewą a prawą stroną. Forester ma z tyłu lsd, ale albo za słabe, albo za stare. Obydwa benzyna. Infiniti Q50 na dwóch rolkach zapewne da radę.
4x4 tests on rollers - duszaniespokojna channel pamiętajcie jak będziecie na Śląsku dajcie znać. Ustawimy się.

Goes for all older awds without locking diffs. Today they burn Out your brakes . Real lsds are Not in Fashion besides real offroaders or extreme Sportcars.
