Absolutely underrated!! I tell everyone I can to watch this show. There is something very grounded and real about this show even in the most unreal moments. The scene with the ladybug may be a tiny moment but it speaks volumes of who Ray thinks the innocent are.
@@KutWritethat’s a solid top three mine is 1. The wire 2. Game of thrones 3. Six feet under I rank sopranos 14th, fargo 18th, and mr inbetween somewhere in my top 35-40
One of my favourite tv shows of all time. A masterpiece of storytelling. The conversations between him and his best friend are hilarious. It is full to the brim with comedy, pathos, drama, intrigue and ‘moralistic’ violence. It really stands alone as a piece of art. Scott Ryan, who played Ray, wrote all of the episodes himself. As an Australian, I can confer that this is realism in its truest form, and a show I will never forget ❤
I first saw this series two years ago. Since then, I've watched various scenes here on YT. I just started going back to watch it all the way through for the second time. It does not get old.
Hands down one of the best shows I've seen in years. Ray Shoesmith one of the best TV characters in recent years - massive props to Scott Ryan for the invention, writing and playing the lead role. A real gem waiting for people to discover. Nice that it's not yet another American show - different accents, dialogue, settings...and a lot of subtle Aussie humour. Can't big this show up enough! His relationship with his daughter is excellent too, she played by a brilliant young actress.
Hey Sandman!, I'm a Sandman too(Rob Sandman) nicely done review of a fantastic series, I was also on the fence about Mr Inbetween...mainly cause he looks like my Aussie Brother(I'm a bit older but spookily similar, never got the Willem Dafoe comparison though(its in the smile I think)it was weird watching "Aussie me" in...somewhat similar (I'm an ex doorman/Security geezer, shooter, the rest I'll leave up to you) situations, obviously not as many bodies in me fackin' trunk mate!...you forgot to mention that in the anger management class, Ray is in for bashing Men, the rest are Women and Kid bashers, scumbags who laugh at Ray, with the simpy managers approval, Ray is the wolf amongst rats. Also the daughter who was diddy'd and game over'd was ten, not a teen.Just little bits, I love this show, if you like it the first season of Altered Carbon is totally different but as good.
didn't know anyone else had loved this show. Every time I bring it up people act like I'm making the whole thing up. "Oh that would be a cool idea for a tv show." It hurts me every time. Most of them complain about how the marvel shows are all terrible, but they won't even turn their head away from disney+ to look for something better.
Probably because its Australian and doesn't have any big stars. Eventually with enough word of mouth hopefully more people will see it. I get what your saying about Marvel. And I don't watch them. But you can complain about how Hollywood is terrible and watch off the beaten path entertainment too.
@@sandmancinema6859 I guess the real problem here is that people that are truly passionate about their work don't have a decent pipeline for advertising their work. There is word of mouth and reviewers spreading news but other than that the normal avenues are dominated by the factory sludge line drowning out competition with the stink of the next steaming pile of consuuuuuuuuume me until the next goo pile releases.
🦁. Know right! It's insane not a single noteworthy UA-camr is talking about this show. There are so many great shows out there in recent years apart from Mr. Inbetween, that mauler, Drinker, YMS & others aren't talking about. Such as, The Outsider, Upright, Happy Valley, Shetland, Vigil, His Dark Materials, Mare of Easttown ect. It's actually quite pathetic on there their behalf, as critics.
Drinker etc are just doing anti woke pieces on Disney cos these get them more views (money). I've called them out on it. At least Drinker do a few rare reviews outside of his money bait shows. They won't win against woke if they won't review the many many other shows e.g. Mr Inbetween
The scene with Freddy offering Ray a job in prison is ridiculous. Everything is recorded, and he could have got information to him another way. Great show though.
Now I could be wrong. But if it was through a phone it would be recorded, like in American Prisons. In this scene it was just a fence like opening to talk through.
Barray is okay, not that great. This show is no another level. Planning to watch it again with my wife. And I don't know about you all, but creepy looking dude who is a loving father and a protector with strong principles is more than you can ask for from a man.
I love both shows but imo Barry is a little better in all honesty. It’s far more ambitious, unique, and explores greater themes with more thematic depth. It’s a bigger and better mr inbetween imo.
I disagree with being better, I agree with being Australian Barry, I think the only official shows of dark comedy series, something I only thought possible in audiovisual, in feature films and to put one above the other is to forget that they shine together as the only ones.

In my top 5 TV shows of all time. Quite literally all killer, no filler. A masterpiece of focused storytelling.
It's in my top three: Sopranos, Fargo, Mr Inbetween. The order varies. I've gone back to watch everything but the Sopranos. I"m not sure why.

10/10 show. Dialogue was on a different level from your average TV shows
Couldn't agree more. I hope Scott Ryan writes and acts in more stuff.

I can't see anyone else playing Ray shoesmith. He's perfect.
Fantastic series, exciting and touching.
thanks for the recommendation.

Like Barry and Charlie Bronson . Great !
Loved this show. Funny, sad and shocking.
Mr inbetween is good I’m a fan I’ve got nothing bad to say about the show, but imo it’s not better than Barry.

And if this series is unknown it's because the audience, I emphasize North Americans, is limited.
@@giulyanoviniciussanssilva2947I I agree mr inbetween is good but definitely not better than Barry.
