I think what Maury, albeit in a poor manner, was trying to state was that most people don't cause mayhem and bloodsheed because we have some sense of morality. Also, most serial killers are not that smart. Alot of serial killers have below average intelligence. The only reason why the vast majority have high body counts is because they come from a time period where the public and law alike were not informed about the psychology of criminality and how to taxonomize it based on certain factors.
