I have a FS 131 going on 4 years. I have put an insane amount of hours on it. Every day constant use from April-november, the 3 months during peak of summer 5-8 hours every day. It just continues to run. I keep the air filter clean, gearbox lubed, non ethanol, adjust the valves after so many hours. I wore 1 shaft out on year 3, I believe that was due to me running the large .105 string to often, I believe this trimmer is designed to run the .95 string. The compression on mine is still excellent, I am impressed with this trimmer.

I have FS 131 without R, with bicycle handles. I use it for hours at a time, to cut overgrown gras on my 5 acre property. I also have 30 year old lawn tractor, but it usually needs something to fix, it is easier to grab FS 131 and go on a walk with it. Stihl is very reliable, I pull the rope and it starts every time. This is the third season, the only maintenance was add Stihl lubricant to gearbox and lubricate shaft using different lubricant after season.
On overgrown gras I use metal blade that I sharpen everyday if I dont hit rocks, and every gastank if I hit rocks. If I use sharp blade instead of thick string, I barely touchs throttle and it goes throe any size grass. Sound is great, like a motorcycle not a moped. Low weight, low vibration, lower noise than 2 stroke trimmer.
It has great power to weight ratio, but the power has its limitations when used thick string in overgrown grass. If you have to slow down so that trimmer can ketch up, I suggest to try metal blade. Fuel tank also lasts twice as long when using blade instead of string in thick grass, when using string I need to give full throttle and wish it had more power, sharp blade - barely touching throttle.
Periodically I give it full throttle when I dont need the power, just to clean the engine out, because those smalle engines are designed to work on max throttle.

Great feedback. Isn’t it amazing how much more fuel efficient a blade is ?

Hey I saw in a previous video you showed how to replace the shaft from falling out in a still km 110 r! I have one and the shaft is bent. I was curious if you ever made a video on how to fully replace or know of a video that does. Thank you!

@@arthurmazyck7237 very easy. Go to your local dealer and buy the drive shaft. You will need a T27 to loosen the screw on the Kombi clamp pull the clamp off, depress the white/gray tap and slide the upper drive shaft out. I think it will make great sense once you’re there
