This video shows whats inside the Galaxy Note 7 S pen. Obviously Samsung isnt going to tell us exactly how the pen functions, but when we open it up and take a look at each of the components, we get a general idea of what the S-pen is capable of.
This video also shows how to replace the little stylus tips that come with the S-Pen. If they wear down, or get lost somehow, it is a very easy replacement.

I've always wondered what was inside those pens. I pictured a more elaborate circuit board. This video was interesting.

A few weeks ago I was bored during physics class so I took my small victorinox keychain multitool and I started to cut a pencil and then i slipped with a lot of force and it got very deep into my left index finger (of course I took it out right away) and it started to bleed alot, there was blood on the wall, on my jeans, on my table and on the floor and I was in panic from the inside but I put my bloody hand up just like nothing was going on and the teacher asked "what happened" and I replied "I cut myself" and he was in panic and he told me to go to the bathroom and that's what I did. while I was was walking to the classroom door everyone started to yell. when I was out of the classroom walking to the bathroom I left a trail of blood drops. When i got in the bathroom I spoiled it with water till it didn't bleed that much anymore and then I tied some toilet paper to it so it wouldn't get infected and I went back to the class, some classmates helped me and the teacher asked me how it happened so I told him "I was playing with my keys" but he saw that knive so he said that I should better not take that anywhere with me and let it home. I was so happy that there was only 1 hour left till school was over and I can go home because I didn't feel comfortable at school. when I was home I hid it from my parents because they would panic. So a few weeks passed and I still can't feel anything with 1/4 of my left index finger so I damaged a nerve. A few days ago my physics teacher asked me "you aren't playing with knives anymore are you?" so I said "no". There is still blood on that knife BTW.

Those coils actually are threads that not only have electromagnetic detection integrated, but they also sense the slight changes in pressure so they are actually what sends the info to the board regarding pressure applied to the pen. Used many Wacom pens. Same tech

Did not know it is completely powered inductively. Very interesting! Any idea how much power that consumes? Can you turn it off, so the pen stops checking for a pen? How many coils are needed for the pen to be useful on the whole screen?

Most of the people use their mobile with screen guards so no issue with scratching. Shattering of the screen is a bigger and expensive problem which is solved by GG5! Idk why people are making a fuss out of it!

I know this is ancient, and you may never see this comment, but if you do, I'd love to see a teardown/disassembly of the S Pen Pro. Haven't been able to find one online, and I'm curious about how easy it might be to take it apart and put it in a different body/case.

Too bad antennagate was bullshit. I used an iphone 4, never had a problem. The iPhone 6 bend if you bend it, if you sit on it with a big fat ass, it doesn't just do it randomly, and it isn't dangerous for you.

I really love my Blue Coral Note 7. I ordered it on the 2nd of Aug. got it delivered on the 16th. The Note 7 isn't the only product I have and love by Samsung, I also have a 4K SUHD Curved Smart TV, shows vividly awesome bright true colors while showing the blackest of blacks. It's is if the display pops right out at me. Also have a Samsung surround sound system hooked to my TV. Dishwasher, washer and dryer and fridge french door style.

The silver, (as you say) 'clicky part' broke off the S pen for my Note 10+ but the pen still works. I have ordered another one and it's on its way, but in the meantime I came looking on UA-cam to see if this had happened to anyone else and maybe there was a video about gluing it back on. (Obviously, I'm quite aware that if I don't glue it back on JUST RIGHT, there will be no more clicking.)
Anyway, I had to leave a comment for the simple fact that I enjoyed your video tremendously! Your simple, matter-of-fact statements (like "...there are no entry points but the usual breaking-things-in-half approach seemed to work just fine.") took me by surprise and had me in stitches. Do both the plastic and rubber tips function the same or are there sight differences using one over the other?
For a $900 phone, I was expecting an all-metal-build S-pen to prevent it from snapping. Still a great phone and video though Zack! Keep it going :)
An all metal build would be impossible.
the metal would interfere with the induction and render the pen useless.

You forgot that a metalhousing would interfere with the electric field from the copperspool, so the S Pen wouldn't have 100% functionality anymore.

New subscriber and love the videos. Something I always wanted to know how it worked though. I"m not sure if the note 4 or 5 had it because my 7 don't but when I had my note 3 they add options for air view and air gestures. You could hover your finger an inch over the screen, not even in front of the camera and read text, zoom in pics etc. Please explain this witchcraft lol
i just took my nib out and tried using the pen without it. only the circle appears but doesn't do anything else. i put my finger on the tip, swiped screen and it effin worked.

1:22 i've got a Note 8 and my S-Pen have broken at the same point as yours (i fixed it with a unique turn of tape (can put it back in my Note 8 with that) and asap i'll try to definitely reapair it with loctite glue) and this is the reason why Note 10 series S-Pen is "unibody" to say so.
