1.deep condition overnight 2.the last rinse should always be cold water 3.dry your hair with a microfiber towel or T-shirt. 4.air dry but if you want to dry it differently or quickly use cold air settings with a bowl dryer 3.use a satin pillow case 4.use a light weight products to restyle and only restyle with one product 5.use a gel without alcohol 6.deep condition while doing and updo hairstyle
Like Mighty Liz said, add a good amount of conditioner and comb with a wide toothed comb. I usually let my deep conditioner sit for awhile then detangle as I'm rinsing. The comb glides right through my very thick hair.
Rehana Squire It's really all about listening to your hair. I deep condition weekly. If your hair is dry, maybe on the brittle side, I'd go for weekly. Purchase a deep conditioner that states to leave it in for minimum thirty minutes or make one yourself. Avocado, banana, honey, various oils (like olive, avocado, coconut, sweet almond, black seed, moringa, etc.) can all be blended until smooth, strained, and used like a deep conditioner. Babilon Kay has some really good recipes for hair treatments. Check her out. I hope this helps 😊.
am i the only girl with curly hair that doesn't use coconut oil ? i see all girls raving about it, but my hair really hates it, whenever i use coconut oil or any product that has coconut oil in it my hair gets extremely dry !!!
Sarah Perez me too not being racist but her hacks work for black and white people as most videos are for like 4c curls But i have like high 3 so she is great
lol the struggle is too real. I came to the conclusion that I have low porosity hair and should use lightweight products, but even then my hair just wont dry.
i have never had long hair its always been like a bob but curly the longer it grows the more my hair bounces up. its soon annoying ! and taking care of curly hair is time consuming. and you can't really get beach waves
I have read several comments aboUT curly hair women not being attractive. These type of comments are stemmed from straight hair women who are jealous of the BEAUTIFUL curly hair women and the curly hair women most often are brown skinned, It is amazing how some women use the "hearsay" as an excuse to state their own personal vendettas,.
Yeah when I was in preschool they used to make fun of me because of my curls!! They would grab my hair and try to rip it out. Later I realized they were probably jealous, it took me a while to love my curls
Love all your curly hacks. You changed my hair life! I'm more knowledgeable on how to maintain my curls. Wish I had someone like you to educate me during my earlier years!
Actually studies say deep conditioners stop working after 30min, and it's better to add heat while doing it to open the cuticle so it can actually penetrate. yeah leaving it overnight will make your hair soft, but only because you had it saturated in something. I'd buy something specifically overnight or if all you want is more slip, something natural like oils
+HachiJinkx Actually, If you have high porosity hair you do not need to add heat because your cuticles are naturally open (and that will further damage your hair). I was told that deep conditioning overnight is great for porous hair but I just know that it can be a tangle mess, since our cuticles are open they entwine with each other.
+HachiJinkx i believe its best to go off of experience and not follow blindly. experience has more belief and credibility to me. I don't believe there is a right or wrong here because you can deep condition for 30 mins and feel like its beneficial and you can benefit for 1 hour and feel its also beneficial. each hair absorbs moisture differently and not all deep conditioners are equal, the same way all hair absorption are not equal. when you go by experience you chose how long you want to leave it in for. The purpose of this deep conditioning hack is to make people feel like its an easier process and there's no need to wash it out that quickly if you don t want to. its best to do it than not do it all just because its late at night and you don't want to go top bed with wet hair.
HachiJinkx That's healthy hair! I wish I had low porosity hair, that way I wouldn't have to do a protein treatment like every month and my hair wouldnt be so dry all the time lol. And unfortunately there aren't many curly youtubers with porous hair :(
Omg I was just about to relax my hair after 8 months of transitioning when I saw your video on my feed. It inspired me to continue on my journey. you make it look so easy! thank you 😙
+SShlizzle in my porosity video I explain this more thoroughly. this video is not about porosity so i didnt focus on porosity types as i was trying to keep my tips as simple and brief possible. I suggest for low porosity to cleanse with warm water and only rinse at the end with cold water to seal in moisture and maintain shine
+SunKissAlba Hi Alba! I use to rinse at the end of my wash with cold water, but realized it doesn't work for me. My hair would take days to dry. I started doing warm water only and that works for me. Love your hacks tho! Use a lot of them already by learning what my hair likes and what works for my lifestyle. :)
I love that I can deep condition in a hair style and just re-style over the next few days. I have never thought of re-styling in the way you described. I basically grew being told I have to moisturise/oil my hair every single day but for sure, I know that my hair gets overwhelmed with all of that. Thank you so much for your hacks. 💜
I'm not sure you'll see this, but nonetheless I wanted to thank you for sharing everything that you have about your life and your journey through it. I recently just discovered your channel because for a long time, I would be so constantly obsessed with having to straighten my hair so I could look beautiful and be confident and it was time consuming and I got to a point recently where I was just tired of having to make time for it. So I began this I know now long journey of loving my hair, just as it is. I didnt realize how much I've been missing out on the freedom and the beauty of my hair. After seeing your curly routine video, I quickly began reading and researching and trying out new things. Here I am a few weeks later and still going strong! my hair texture gets better and better everyday and GIRL I AM SO GRATEFUL! I feel so much more confident. I am also from the Dominican Republic, and after seeing your draw my life video, I connected that much more to you and your messages about a healthy life. Your life is beautiful, that of which I can see, you are so stunning! Thank you for radiating some of that happiness back to me and my life. From North Carolina, Yaric Jimenez
Hey Alba! Do you have any curly hair tips for someone who workouts on a consistent basis ? I don't want to over wash it so I was wondering if you have any ideas. Thank you!
I when washing only use conditioner so that you're not stripping your hair. I love top knot when and after my workouts allows me to not have my hands in my hair all the time
Great question, I have to wash my hair all the time because I workout everyday most of my workouts being high intensity and I wear my hair in a bun but when I take it out its a hott mess lol
I also have low porosity hair and I have stopped using cold water to wash or rinse my hair. I even warm up my conditioner, leave in and sometimes my styling creams. My hair looks so much better and it is healthier. Anyway, your hair looks gorgeous! Great video 😊👏🏾
+Leximarcellaa it all depends how wet it is. I wrapped my hair in my microfiber towel to soak up water before applying my deep treatment. so 2 hours of drying was just fine for this step
First, you are absolutely gorgeous! Next, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! My hair changed to curly after 48 years of board straight, thin hair and I'm completely lost. This video will help so much!! I'm grateful that you took the time to try and help people like me 😁
I really appreciated all of the tips. ALL of my life I was clueless and would just tie it up or flat iron my hair, which has damaged my hair significantly. Thank you so much for the tips and I look forward to creating a much healthier and prettier set of hair...naturally!
I really enjoyed these hacks! You should do a hack based on the beach lol. Like what to put in your hair to protect it and things like that and natural things to protect your skin lol 🙊💕
I'm definitely gonna try these. My hair is curly but I'm constantly styling it every morning because my hair has a mind of its own. I'm gonna start watching your hair videos a lot more
Thank you so much for this! I've been figuring out my hair and it's still a mystery to me. I'm half Mexican, part African American and Native American. Hopefully, trying your hacks will help my hair look more like yours. Thanks again!
im currently in the process of growing out my pixie cut My hair is just like yours when it's long and i can't wait to try all your tips and hairstyles. you literally saved me!
You really got to me. I relate to all of your stories from damaged hair to bullying and criticism. I admire you so much and I love watching your videos. Keep doing what you do because you're truly great at it. @sunkissalba
It's so wild to see people put such heavy products on their hair to moisturizer it!! If I did that with mine it would look like an oily, limp piece of cheese that had been left out on the counter for 4 hrs. Man I would kill for those beautiful curls!
See i heard that there are two types of curly hair one that absorb water so fast the other is the opposite And that the first need heavy oil while the second need very light oils because if u put heavy oils on it it will just look like what u said in the comment. And i heard that there a simple test u can do to find out what oils fit with hair and what not....etc but a little reminder i just *heard* im not a professional or sth
It's all based on the type of curl and texture that you have. Also the amount and thickness. In my case I have to use lightweight products because although I have a good amount of hair, it's very thin and any other type of product would weigh it down. I would recommend to test out a few brands and different products and find out what works best for you.
Thanks for the hacks! I'm 4 months without straightening and not quite a year of straightening less. I never permed my hair just press and curl but I had heat damage so I finally decided to just stop. I'm using the Cantu line and so far it's been good. I will use your hacks and see what happens. My hair is still breaking a little bit but not as much as last year April. Thanks and I'll check out your other vids. Cheers to the Curly haired Girls!
Thanks for that. I am a caucasian red-haired curly and I live in Poland where curls are really rare. I am glad curlies from around the world share their tips! 💖💖💖
mira muchacha'e dio!!!!! I left a deep conditioner on my hair for extra hours, for the past two.weeks!! YOU SAVED ME!! my hair is finally how.I want it!! I.love it!!!
I loved your hacks however, i have to find hacks that's for much shorter and for a tighter curl. I did get some great tips such as deep conditioning overnight and conditioning while in a protective style. I'm still rather new to being natural...Thanks!
our hair is identical!! especially when you played the part where you detangle your hair, wow. I never new someone who had my hair thanks for giving me some tips on how to help it
Some more tips: use a serum or oil for second day hair I keep this in the down low, but I use subliminals on youtube( look it up) for things like curl type, thickness and color if I want a change Pat your hair with paper towels to make it dry faster
Thank you! 💛 Ive never known how to properly take care of my curls and just came across this and I love how simple and easy these tips are. I’m gonna try them out 😊
Omg thank you so much for these tips and hacks! Cause I turned 11 last month and I have curly hair and my mom wants me to learn how to do my hair so this really helped!
Oh man, I'm SO excited to try these! I've never even thought of restyling with lighter products! My hair gets that halo of fuzz the next day and it's so annoying. I'm really glad I found this video.
Might be a little late but... loving those tips. I’m going to try most of them. I’m going natural and am in the transition period. I have no hold, a lot of frizz and can’t seem to find the balance. Although I have very different hair to you, I am going to take on most of the advice. That was all about me! What a narcissist!!! You have gorgeous hair!!!
how do i deal with heat damage that ruined my curl pattern? i have parts of my hair that are pretty straight now and my curls aren't as tight and spirally as id like them to be anymore because of straightening my hair for six years straight. i've been curly for almost a year now and i dont see my curls returning.
Tip from a fellow curly headed girl: sadly ya gotta rebuild. I ruined my hair from years of straightening but after I got a very short bob cut it came back better than ever. you may not want to part with your long locks but it's really the most effective way.
peachy pour flat beer all over it and let it sit a while while you wash your body in the shower. rinse off and see the difference - it helped spring mine back and I found the video on UA-cam some time ago.
Please share more! haha I loved your hacks. I hate wearing my hair curly because I overuse gel and not only is it depleting the moisture, but it's also causing my scalp to be full of flakes and product that builds up on my scalp. I hate it. I need to just sit down one day and start messing with new products. I need healthy curls again!
Question, Sun Kiss Alba or anyone here who knows .Do you have or know any type of cream that protecs your hair from very humid tropical weather while not leaving it dry?
You could use moisturizing cream, masques, coconut oil. I use Cantu curl activator and since I live in Texas I have to prevent dry hair literally every single day. It helps wonders and it only costs 5.99 at Sally's.
I find creams without glycerin really works well for me living in a humid climate year round. Two of my staples are: Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Gel and Oyin Handmade Whipped Pudding, both available at Target.
I love the layered ponytail idea. I'm gonna do this the next I put my hair up. I like long hair much more then short so having my ponytail look longer makes me happy. Great idea girl. Thanks
definitely using the ponytail hack!! it may not look like i have curly hair in my profile... but girl i TOTALLY DO!! thanks! these tips and stuff are really gonna help!
Alba, THANK YOU SO MUCH 😘 I tried the first hack but what I did was I co washed the night before and left the majority of the conditioner in a put it in a loose bun. Then I put a shower cap on and a satin cap then went to sleep. 🌅 Then in the morning my hair was so soft and healthy and shiny. I got a lot of compliments at school and people said that my hair looked the best it had in a long time 😍😘💆🏾 I have permanently dry hair and it is 3b in the front and 3c/4a in the middle and this has saved my hair👼🏽 Definitely would recommend doing it frequently to help bring your hair back to life.👼🏽👼🏽 Btw the conditioner I used was the OGX renewing Argan oil of Morocoo (my all time favourite 😉)
Great tips and tricks! I am trying to learn everything I can to help my daughter (11) embrace her natural, beautiful curls now that she wants to wear it down more often for school and such!
+Sarah Rivera Yes I have but only the face mask, shampoo and conditioner. the shampoo and conditioner has alot of oil so if you have extra dry hair you'll like it
Girl, I know why you seem so familiar to me! You were raised in NYC, and went to Catholic school like my sisters (my mother took me West when I was 5). My step mother is Dominican and my father is Colombian and worked his whole career at NYU doing cancer research. Spanish was my first language too! I know you probably don't read all these comments but you just got a new fan today. Hearts.
My problem from recovering from heat damage is (my hair is short now) my hair only gets curly after it's wet and can only wear it for a day. The next day after I wake up, all my curls are gone and it turns into this weird straight/wavy frizzy texture. My hair is extremely oily which I can't put no more products in my hair, which leaves me to shower and wet my hair once again. I've heard that it's harmful to take showers everyday but I don't know what else to do to revive my curls
+sunnyside1blue Its not harmful to wet it everyday, as long as you're only cowashing or skipping shampoo washes. Cowashing daily is okay as long as you trap in that moisture the water just fed your hair with!
I wet my hair every day, just not soaking wet. I spritz it with a spray bottle, add some leave in conditioner and style it. I only wash my hair with shampoo one a week. Other times I just condition it and rinse and do the overnight deep conditioning thing. Doing this helped my hair come back to life
Now that my hair is getting longer my curls are not the ringlets they used to be. I am mixed, my skin is naturally really dark but since my hair is naturally golden blonde, I use Japanese skin lightening. But the point is, I have white people hair and my hair is extremely sensitive. Because i am a ballerina, i have my hair in a bun at all times, so my hair on the top layer broke off to right under my chin, and now when I want my hair natural it is so damaged it can't curl in some areas and those parts get frizzy. HELP
I have been looking for the right things for my hair and how to take care of it and didn't notice that you were here! Tysm! You saved my curls!!!! Your the best! ;)
Best hair videos on youtube!! I adore them because my hair is thick and curly as yours. The hacks are very helpful. I'll try deep conditioning on the go just after I finish writing this comment!! Stay gorgeous xo
THANK YOU!! I struggle with DC'ing my hair because it takes so. much. time. I never thought to sleep with it in (without plastic caps, bonnets, towels to protect the pillow, etc) and rinsing it out in the AM. Bloody brilliant! ❤
Laila KajuCasa I'm not sure if this works on everyone but what I do is I take a spray bottle and wet my hair bc it's important to keep ur hair hydrated and then I put Moroccan oil from garnier and apply a little bit of mousse. . ( mousse is optional)
OK, i am 12 yrs old and i was wondering how did Ur hair get like that after chemical i mean Ur hair texture is so different and hopefully u can tell me how this happened and what you did so i can make my hair like that and someone in the comment PLZ help so then my hair can be smooth and curly like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
um...you got that wrong for the pony tail...if you have curly thick hair you should know that your gonna need like a package of hair ties on you at all time. cause after that first loop it will break
If you want a super soft and stretchy thick hair ponytail, take a pair of tights, and cut off a piece horizontally. It will roll into a little elastic from heaven it's so soft
Loved this video! My daughter has curly hair similar to yours and you gave me so many great ideas to try. Like we always completely wet her hair every day because it looks crazy in the morning and cant wait to just spray the hair line crown and ends and apply the hair product!!!!
Makes me so happy to know that those who don't have curls like mine still enjoy this content. I watch girls who don't have my hair texture/type and still enjoy how interesting it is to know about other hair types other than mine. Thanks for watching honey!
I put coconut oil and then dutch braid, it looks really good, because my hair is dry, and it smells soo good, i love it, i wear it all day and then wash my hair, it's so much easier than over-night moisturize :)
1.deep condition overnight
2.the last rinse should always be cold water
3.dry your hair with a microfiber towel or T-shirt.
4.air dry but if you want to dry it differently or quickly use cold air settings with a bowl dryer
3.use a satin pillow case
4.use a light weight products to restyle and only restyle with one product
5.use a gel without alcohol
6.deep condition while doing and updo hairstyle
Thank you I screenshot
I read that deep conditioning over night isnt good, so idk.
Thank you

Coconut oil molecules are too big for hair follicles. Don’t use it on the hair. Great for the scalp

i hate that it takes my hair like 12 hrs to dry. (not an exaggeration)
+sobubbleliciousz me to. I wet my hair in the morning and it's still damp when I come home from work.
lol the struggle is too real. I came to the conclusion that I have low porosity hair and should use lightweight products, but even then my hair just wont dry.
use a diffuser! It's entire purpose is to dry curly hair while preventing frizz and creating defined curls!
oreo777143 I never have time to diffuse... I learned to live with it. 😏
The same with my hair, but mine is soaking still. It takes 2 days for mine to become damp.

im currently in the process of growing out my pixie cut My hair is just like yours when it's long and i can't wait to try all your tips and hairstyles. you literally saved me!

You really have one of the best natural hair i saw! Your straight to the point and very helpful! Thank you!!!
You really got to me. I relate to all of your stories from damaged hair to bullying and criticism. I admire you so much and I love watching your videos. Keep doing what you do because you're truly great at it. @sunkissalba

HELL-TO-THE-YES LADY! tip for the longer pony tale is the best thing I've heard in my life!!
It's so wild to see people put such heavy products on their hair to moisturizer it!! If I did that with mine it would look like an oily, limp piece of cheese that had been left out on the counter for 4 hrs. Man I would kill for those beautiful curls!
Amethyst Lol...same.
See i heard that there are two types of curly hair one that absorb water so fast the other is the opposite
And that the first need heavy oil while the second need very light oils because if u put heavy oils on it it will just look like what u said in the comment.
Cheers to the Curly haired Girls!
love this! my daughter and i both have curly hair so I'm definitely glad i found your page!!
Thanks for that. I am a caucasian red-haired curly and I live in Poland where curls are really rare. I am glad curlies from around the world share their tips! 💖💖💖
I will try some of your suggestions. Thanks for the video
mira muchacha'e dio!!!!!
Luhhsettyxo has good hair hacks for shorter hair & tighter curls ,
Meisha Morticia Thanks. I'll check it out.
good for your for going natural :)
our hair is identical!! especially when you played the part where you detangle your hair, wow. I never new someone who had my hair thanks for giving me some tips on how to help it
I hope my hair looks like yours when it's longer, we have the same curl pattern.
I love Alba ❤️ she inspired me to recover my hair. 2 years later I have amazing curly hair .
Some more tips:
use a serum or oil for second day hair
I keep this in the down low, but I use subliminals on youtube( look it up) for things like curl type, thickness and color if I want a change
Pat your hair with paper towels to make it dry faster
colour? does it really work for colour?
actually, overall how has it worked for you?
Hi, I actually haven't tried the color one. But I have tried one for hair type and it worked within 2 months. I'm currently using the 3b one :)
Manatee()5 I use subs too
I have curly hair and loved these hacks. Thank you. I've gone natural now, unlike the pic that is showing.
It helps wonders and it only costs 5.99 at Sally's.
thank you so much
No prob :)
Thanks
can u do a video on your heat damage recovery ?
She already has a video on her heat damage recovery.
I have several recovery videos honey. Just type SunKissAlba recovery you'll see my official one and others in part of my recovery journey
Awesome vid for us Dads out here trying to figure out how to do or daughter hair. Stressing!
please do a beauty Version you have great tips🙈 💖
definitely using the ponytail hack!! it may not look like i have curly hair in my profile... but girl i TOTALLY DO!! thanks! these tips and stuff are really gonna help!
Have you ever used Eco styler gel? What are your thoughts of it
ecostyler is amazing but to prevent the flaking apply a TINY bit of oil first
That mixing oil with gel hack is so simple, yet so brilliant. I can't believe I've never thought of that before.
My deep conditioner is Mayo lol
I use ketchup. I heard mayo is bad for the scalp
Alexa Savage hahaha
big ed aproves
Alba, THANK YOU SO MUCH 😘
I tried the first hack but what I did was I co washed the night before and left the majority of the conditioner in a put it in a loose bun. Then I put a shower cap on and a satin cap then went to sleep.
🌅 Then in the morning my hair was so soft and healthy and shiny.
I got a lot of compliments at school and people said that my hair looked the best it had in a long time 😍😘💆🏾
I have permanently dry hair and it is 3b in the front and 3c/4a in the middle and this has saved my hair👼🏽
Definitely would recommend doing it frequently to help bring your hair back to life.👼🏽👼🏽
Btw the conditioner I used was the OGX renewing Argan oil of Morocoo (my all time favourite 😉)
I've had my hair in the same style (a bun) for about 2 years 😥
Same.
Great tips and tricks! I am trying to learn everything I can to help my daughter (11) embrace her natural, beautiful curls now that she wants to wear it down more often for school and such!
my hair has randomly changed texture and is now like yours! Yay! !
Wish mine was like that
I've been natural for almost 2 years now and I still love to take tips from other curly heads 💕 Thanks for the tips Alba
+CurlyMisfit Yay! Thanks honey
hey Alba have you tried the new peace rose line from Shea moisture I really would like to hear your review on their cream gel. love your videos
+Sarah Rivera Yes I have but only the face mask, shampoo and conditioner. the shampoo and conditioner has alot of oil so if you have extra dry hair you'll like it
+SunKissAlba Please share with us the name of the hair dryer!!
+Raeshonna Jones Yes, it is!! Thank you!
Yo, that longer ponytail hack blew my mind! I’m gonna try it with my thin and low density hair 😍
what if you dont have a deep conditioner can i just use a normal one
Lol Random nooooo!!!! Just make ur own one by searching for diy hair masks
ok
@Timi Gabice I'll try that
Although since I've been natural for a year now I knew most of your hacks, I still appreciate you giving the ones I didn't know, thank you.
so useful I know this is an old video but it still helps.(:^-^
Doing this helped my hair come back to life
Wow I actually learned something from this video! Right when I thought I knew all this natural hair! Favorite hack was the ponytail trick!
HELP
IKR my hair doesn't want to curl up anymore 😖
just cut your hair it'll grow back like cut up to where the hair stops curlying and leave the parts that are curly alone
You are going to have to cut it
+childish girl I tried using her overnight deep conditioning hack with a diy honey mask, and ACV rinses and my hair is curly again💪🏾
Why are you bleaching your skin?😣that natural brown skin with that natural blonde hair would look amazing and more because both are natural
what should I do becauseyou know how you can't wash ur hair everyday but if I don't my hair is going to be puffy and my curls is gunna look ugly
Shekaniah micah Agcaoili ...I SWEAR THATS ME! Every fucking time I put my hair in a ponytail ..MESSES UP
Shekaniah micah Agcaoili me toooo!!! if u ever find an answer to this, pleeeeaasssee let me know!
Laila same!!!!!!!!!!! and I ALWAYS have frizz!
Laila KajuCasa I'm not sure if this works on everyone but what I do is I take a spray bottle and wet my hair bc it's important to keep ur hair hydrated and then I put Moroccan oil from garnier and apply a little bit of mousse. . ( mousse is optional)
omg i love this hack especially the one about making your ponytail longer, people ask me if its a weave this helped me so much thxx 😘❤️😂
Antonia Nderi You have to moisture your hair alot and let the product soak in properly. Mabey a braid/twist out will help
finally a channel that understands my curly needs
um...you got that wrong for the pony tail...if you have curly thick hair you should know that your gonna need like a package of hair ties on you at all time. cause after that first loop it will break
true lol her hair isn't really that thick
If you want a super soft and stretchy thick hair ponytail, take a pair of tights, and cut off a piece horizontally. It will roll into a little elastic from heaven it's so soft
Loved this video! My daughter has curly hair similar to yours and you gave me so many great ideas to try. Like we always completely wet her hair every day because it looks crazy in the morning and cant wait to just spray the hair line crown and ends and apply the hair product!!!!
1:49 “Stop honking - continues - HAHAHAHA IM WEAKKK
Your hair are literal goals
man throw a bucket of coconut oil on yo scalp and call it a week
thats a really bad idea.
lol its all about experimentation
Lol!
😂😂😂
lol
I love the deep conditioning hack and will be using it straight away! Thank You!!!
I was going to skip this video because I have the opposite of curly hair but I can't just not watch one of your videos.
Same ah ah !!
Thanks Alba! Need more beauty hacks for myself with 4 daughters and 1 baby on the way! ☺️
Hands down best curly hair video out there! Thank you so much! Gonna use all of these tips
