Wonderful tutorial. You need to quit saying that you don't do well with large pots. This is a large piece plus it has swirls. Don't sell yourself, your a great potter and I have loved being able to watch you turn and watch you grow. When you get that larger kiln, I expect we will be seeing large jars, bowls, ect. Keep it up.

Thanks. It's nice of you to say, but I know my own limitations and this was right on the edge of them!

Great job!! Do you have a really detailed video on how to set up and use your laser? I bought one after watching you use it but I can’t figure out just where is should be to get accurate results.

Not yet, because I haven't set mine up properly yet either! I have it rested on upturned pots on a bench in front of the wheel, but the plan is to have a metal upright that the magnetic attachment can stick to

4kg for one pot, wow. Presumably that will be a lot lighter once fired.

It would lose the same proportion as a normal piece, although I've never actually checked what that is for this clay. I'd guess around a quarter of the weight is water, so it would be something like 3kg after firing

You say the clay is more firm, but it still looks twice as soft as my clay by the way you move it around. I make planters similar in size and there is so much slip after centering it's rediculous.

Yeah, this was probably just on the softer side of what I'd estimate an average clay is out of the bag. There's such a variety though! The white clay I nearly decided to use instead of this one was cheaper and better in a lot of ways, but so soft out of the bag is was basically unable and I have no idea why they've decided to do that

@@OldForgeCreations My local shop makes all their own stoneware and it's all firm. Would love to find a softer clay.
