My mother made egg custard pies often when I was young. They were the best. She lost the recipe years ago. If I remember correctly she baked the crust and cooked the egg custard until thick and then poured it into the baked crust. My recipes I have found are baked. Thanks for sharing your recipe. It looks wonderful!
I've never looked up this recipe because Grandma made it seem like such a major undertaking. You made it look easy, even with the "don't scramble your eggs" caution. I've thought of those pies Grandma made, and now perhaps I can make one! Thank you.
I don't recall ever tasting an egg custard pie. It looks good. Your kitchen cabinets look like mine that were custom made by The Wood Store owner Dennis Even in Folk, MO. I don't think he is still in business.

That looks pretty good, but I would definitely put the nutmeg on it! That's how my Mom always made it when I was young. It tastes great as long as you don't put too much on it. ;)
