Mom always used a clean knife to test her baked custard. Inserted part way towards the middle and look to see if it came out clean. Yours looks amazing.

Did you know that we chlorinate chickens in the United States? I have digestive problems because of all the stuff added to the food in the US. I found this recipe because I have to follow a low fodmap diet and this recipe is good for me . Thank you for recipe recipe ❤ I miss desserts

    Hello Carolina Gal,
Just came across your site! So excited!.This recipe is so simple. Does it actually taste like egg custard without the pie crust, cause that's the best part! I'd love to know. I'm in NC as well, and love my Tarheels! 🩵. I hit subscribe so I'm looking forward to seeing other recipes! Yay 😁

I love egg custard, but I can no longer have dairy. I wonder how coconut milk would work??

You can make custard with any liquid and make it savory or sweet. The easiest way is to drop your eggs in a cup. Whatever your eggs measure in your cup you need that much liquid. 1/2 c eggs + 1/2 c liquid and add a pinch of salt. Just mix it well then pour into any bake ready dish. You can cook the custard in a baking dish set into a pan partially filled with warm water and bake at 325 for about 30-40 min. You can add any sweetener before cooking or you can add it after cooking. You can pour cream over it or add a little sesame oil, soy sauce and green onions for a warm savory custard. You can also steam your egg custard on the stove top set into a water bath and covered and cooked about 20 to 30 min.

I hear a tip to ...before you put the milk in the pan... you rince it first with cold water... so the milk doesn't stick to it

There’s no need to heat the milk. Just bake a bit longer.

I used to farm and raise chickens too.. we never washed the shells till ready to use them.. we kept them on the counter till we cooked them . I have to laugh when I see eggs advertised as vegan. Our chickens also ate bugs and worms. Are those considered vegetable, lol?
