@@RamseytheRam yeah man for sure and also some of the best things are kept secret / exclusive. I have been into fragrances all my life but didn’t start to collect until 4 years ago. My first fragrance was Aramis Devin, in 1979 I was 8 years old it was given to me by my father when he visited me in Colombia it was his and I used to hug him and smell him it was the best smell in the world. He said we will reunite in 2 years when you come live with me in New York in the meantime you can hold onto the “Cologne” so you don’t forget me and always remember I love you son. He was true to his word and we reunited in 1981 in NY … that Cologne has a special place in my heart and it’s always in my collection, since my teens and every 10 years I get a new one, I have had the re-issues but now I the original vintage bottle too, love them both. Hearing you talk about it evoked such a feeling inside me filled me both with joy and nostalgia. Fragrances are one of the most beautiful things we can enjoy while we are still alive. You are an old soul my friend and I use the word old in the beat possible way. God bless! 🙏
@@MegamanBillydaKid thank you for sharing your beautiful story and if you like Devin (which I do I absolutely love it I think its one of the best Green Masculine Chypres of all time) Try Les Abstraits Des Cendres ... like a niche version of Devin by Eugene & Antoine Lie... absolutely brilliant 🤌🤌🤌
Big thanks Ram, for every video that I’ve seen and not comment, big effort, big passion, big love. I want to share with everyone of you my little story. I owe you Trussardi Uomo, Boss number one, Leonard pour homme… Tons of beautiful smelling pictures, after a lot of years being Antaeus, my most beloved perfume, and maybe the main reason I found and follow this holy channel happened that, not suddenly, but fiercely, slowly, Dunhill Blend 30 has won my humble top 1! In other words; I am here to say thank you. You are the engine behind this divorce and marriage, moving and pushing the machinery of my senses ahead. Sure all of you here understand exactly what I mean. Blessed regards from good ‘ole Spain.
A lovely comment to read indeed John Doe & its comments like yours that really life me up and carry me forward! Thanks so much for watching & commenting... i love the interaction so do continue to comment & thanks so much for being here with us 🍻
Thanks for mentioning Gucci Pour Homme. It was my signature scent for years and I was able to grab a few backup bottles from eBay when they were affordable. I still wear it and absolutely love it.
Great list . ( I peeked ahead) Man it’s so hard to rank them as all of these are almost equally great. For instance I love Yatagan and would rank it over Lagerfeld colonge, but then again they are so different because Yatagan is more macho and ballsy . Lagerfeld colonge is better for when you want to be more sophisticated so it would be hard to make it hard to even pick. On other days I make pick Lagerfeld. Lol. You have an impossible task…. Side note I wrote this first part and as you were talking you said it may be different on another day. Totally agree
Thank you young Mr. Ramsey. Very enjoyable look back. I was born in 1960 so in 1977 I was 17 years old and in High School. I drove a 1971 Mercury Montego, had my C.B. radio and a beautiful Redheaded Girlfriend. That year Gillette introduced the Atra Razor and I bought one, my Fragrance of choice was Coty Musk for Men. Well now I'm 64 years old and once every month for a week I break out my old Gillette Atra for my shave and still use Coty Musk for men. The good things never change, in our hearts.
I have lagerfeld cologne but not classic. Luckily classic is still like 20$ online even though it’s discontinued. I got the Lagerfeld colonge at that store by my house for like 8$ . It had a few sprays missing. Man o need to hunt Dow vintage Yatagan because I got the new one and it’s so strong I can’t imagine how the vintage must smell. I bought the new one because people said it’s a good reform and it smells amazing. I heard the main difference is the new one is as strong but it doesn’t last quite as long. That punjab sounds interesting too. And you’re description of Yatagan is spot on. It smells like walking though a pine forest with pine needles and leaves and kicking up lose soil with more pine and leaves underneath.oh, I got 3 of the vintage Azzaro for 15$ each. I think I bought all the vintage out of that store now though lol
Great job cleaning that store out Justin... you got some mad steals .. 8 *& 15 bucks just doesnt happen for the type of fragrances you were telling me about... well done 👏🏻
Keep these videos up. As others have said it’s nothing short of an education. Loving the Dunhill mention. My dad used to wear this. Reminds me of my childhood. Great work. Appreciation from Scotland. Euan
Great video Ramsey, thanks for all the knowledge 🙏 about the below comment with the bottle being fake because of a tassel is false. Only the parfum bottles came with them, not the EDT. And I agree with you, that smell is not fake. Also, gotta love Polo green, my Dad's signature. Reminds me of a real man 💪
Ohhh I know it isnt fake Cullen... dont worry... thanks for the info on the parfum being the only one with the tassel... if this is fake opium I need some more fake opium in my life😂😂😂 BTW side note is I am wearing Emilio Pucci Signor Vivara from 1970 today and my God I am in love... if you can find vintage bottles of this and that Antaues Sport cologne for cheap snap me up a few bottles & I will pay pal u the $$

Ralph Lauren Polo (Green) is imo the greatest fragrance of all time let alone 1976-78. It's what got me into fragrances. And it is, as you say, the quintessential "scent of a man", the masculine analogue to Coco Chanel's proclamation that Chanel No. 5 was "the scent of a woman". Polo Green is what the interior of the meeting room of the most powerful men in America smells like, with it's dark wood-paneled walls of old musky bookshelves, Chesterfield leather furniture, pipe tobacco, scotch. Pure masculine gravitas. American Republicanism in a bottle.
This Polo green monologue is perfection. Give me a 'grandpa' smell than a corny sugary cologne anyday! Whats underraded is despite its masculinity- how beautifully smooth and pleasant Polo green is. No harsh animalics or zingy sharp edges. A successful masculine hug.
1976, I took the 3 day CPA exam. I remember where I was at when it came out that Elvis passed away. I bought my first Oldsmobile Cutlass. Yeah it was certainly a different time compared to today. "Dallas" the TV show started in 1978. "Rockford Files" was another TV show.
We're running out masculine fragances as well as masculine, man 😢 sad. Love your video tho my 18 yr old brother is into vintage fragance. I'm looking for the perfect Christmas present for him. He really appreciates the good old classic vintage times. Thank you for the very informative video. 👍

Bought newer version Polo Green after watching this yesterday, 50% discount on Macy’s 2022 Christmas bundle (4oz a 2oz and deodorant stick)for 67$. Still surprisingly good, not the 80s cosmair powerhouse though, but still good. Strange, I’v been seeing posts of the deodorant stick itself supposedly having been discontinued selling for up to 50$ a pop on eBay (yikes!!!). I had my Dad’s older bottle until 2 months ago, all gone, lasted 35+ years. Damn it’s good!!
Finally got my 70's Opium. Full 60ml splash and partial 36ml, couldn't be happier. Trying to find more of these bottles, but taking my time to avoid silly prices or being completely overwhelmed. So much to explore!
Literally one of the greatest fragrances ever created... vintage Opium is a perfect example of what a proper oriental should be If you can find the vintage EDP called Opium Secret de Parfum from the 90s I would highly recommend it ... its primo
Holy shit 😳 ! You just mentioned Punjab! Please 🙏🏼 I’d like an individual review ! It’s a fragrance that I’ve been intrigued by for many years! No one , I mean NO ONE ever cares about Capucci’s hidden gems
I plan on reviewing all my frags... punjab included 😊 Its just a matter of time... if only I knew a billionaire frag head who could throw me half a million a year I would make this my full time job 😆
@@DiscolorBlind there was a fragrance from the house capucci called Sang Royal that was released in 1967... to me that is much more the father of Antaeus than anything else I have smelled
@ wow cool! You know so much! I can just keep asking you questions. But would you say that individuel by montblanc is worth blind buying? There are three that I’d like to get but I’d have to blind buy. rabanne pour homme, individuel and prada amber. I really like your content. I like how passionately you talk about fragrances and how much you know.
Newer bottles of Polo are…. Ok to not bad, at best. The opening into the mid, are still ok smelling… But after an hour or less, the leather accord being used now takes over and it just doesn’t smell the same at all… The oakmoss and pine are so nurtured it’s a shell of its former glory…. My dad had a few bottles left from years back… And not even close to when it came out.. I’d say 90’s…. My god were they amazing. Gone now…. Wish I would have known to snag one from him… hahaha He probably would have known…. Probably wouldn’t have cared though either… That’s what dads are for…
Fragrances in the old days especially 70s were really something as they were all mostly created with the finest organic produce, especially the expensive ones because there wasn't a mass market demand like nowadays. Everything now has fragrance in it,they didn't in the old days. Also the formula has changed with law's ect.
not head over heels with my new Devin and Lagerfeld Classic ( just a lot of orange) own 12 on your list and my order would be a little different but overall we are playing on the same pitch in terms of tastes-totally 100% agree about cypress and spruce Crazy sick huh scooped up 5 bottles of Tuscany per Oumo don't trust those CEO private funds at all Favorite myrrh is Shiseido Inoui - you never mention this line I think
what do you think of Paul Sebastian cologn?. Years ago I knew a woman who wore this. She said she loved it so she overlooked the fact that it was a man's cologne.
The male version didnt come out until much much later...but even if you just put em head to head I feel like the Male version of Opium is good... but the womens opium is one of the greatest perfumes ever made... the opium pour homme just cant hold a candle to it imho 🕯
I’m the early 90s I was clubbing and wearing poison - the 80s and 90s were the best! Just enough technology to feel advanced without the ownership of how much technology and AI dominates our lives
@Ramsey get that dude a hat. He needs his hat!! Buy a empty of the same size that has a sleeve 😳 and your golden. I was surprised to see the Warner/Lauren with a gold sleeve and atomizer. I have to look into that because Warner/Lauren is supposed to date. Hang on let me refresh myself will the knowledge about it. BRB!! Ok Warner is the 1st version 78 to 80 then I think we had Warner/Lauren 80 to 83 maybe 85 then Warner div of Cosmair mid 80s then Cosmair. I believe. My Warner div of Cosmair has no sleeve and stainless and brass crimped two tone. Wish I could get a more defined timeline. Probably something to do with different countries regulations for the sleeve on a Warner/Lauren. I thought it wouldn't have a sleeve or gold atomizer but a Green atomizer with ridges and a arrow on top indicates which way it sprays. 🤔
The problem is according to Anooj that back in the day the creation of these wasnt uniform ... so what they did in Canada is different from the USA is different from France is different from Germany...
@Ramsey that's what I've come to realize. It's sad I can't buy from ebay uk because of shipping regulations. The frag I like is outrageous here in America.

Hey RAM, I agree about people connecting more back than etc. I only disagree on the point that people are wealthier today: Yes there are more ich today but also more poor and there is almost no middle class today. Money lost totally it s worth, there was a study which showed that in 1970 (if I remember correctly) with 50.000 p.a a family of 5 was able to have a house 2 cars 1 holiday and to send 2 kids to college...Also there was a study that a big percentage of the population hasn't more than 3000€ deposited on their bank accounts...things were never worse for middle class since 2. WW :-(
I agree with your point on the middle class and that one man working back in the day could support his family while today many two income households cant make ends meat ... it is an absolute shame our mis-leaders sold us out time and time again 😔

And of course Polo Green is #1 of all time let alone '76-'78.
Yatagan and Polo Green are amazing ...proud of you JT 🤝
Bought newer version Polo Green after watching this yesterday, 50% discount on Macy’s 2022 Christmas bundle (4oz a 2oz and deodorant stick)for 67$. Still surprisingly good, not the 80s cosmair powerhouse though, but still good. Strange, I’v been seeing posts of the deodorant stick itself supposedly having been discontinued selling for up to 50$ a pop on eBay (yikes!!!). I had my Dad’s older bottle until 2 months ago, all gone, lasted 35+ years. Damn it’s good!!
Vintage polo Green is the best pine fragrance of all time 🌲
Best unintentional pun I’ve seen in a while: Dunhill started as a saddle company, which at the time was a very stable industry….. 👏
A stable industry indeed 😂😂😂
🐎
Ted lapidus reminds me of bvlgari black both fantastic fragrances.
Its sooooo good... thanks for watching & commenting 🍻
Finally got my 70's Opium. Full 60ml splash and partial 36ml, couldn't be happier. Trying to find more of these bottles, but taking my time to avoid silly prices or being completely overwhelmed. So much to explore!
Literally one of the greatest fragrances ever created... vintage Opium is a perfect example of what a proper oriental should be
If you can find the vintage EDP called Opium Secret de Parfum from the 90s I would highly recommend it ... its primo
Holy shit 😳 ! You just mentioned Punjab! Please 🙏🏼 I’d like an individual review ! It’s a fragrance that I’ve been intrigued by for many years! No one , I mean NO ONE ever cares about Capucci’s hidden gems
I plan on reviewing all my frags... punjab included 😊
Its just a matter of time... if only I knew a billionaire frag head who could throw me half a million a year I would make this my full time job 😆
Would you say Yatagan is the biggest inspiration behind Antaeus? Which other fragrances would you have influenced Antaeus?
@@DiscolorBlind there was a fragrance from the house capucci called Sang Royal that was released in 1967... to me that is much more the father of Antaeus than anything else I have smelled
@ wow cool! You know so much! I can just keep asking you questions. But would you say that individuel by montblanc is worth blind buying? There are three that I’d like to get but I’d have to blind buy. rabanne pour homme, individuel and prada amber. I really like your content. I like how passionately you talk about fragrances and how much you know.
Newer bottles of Polo are…. Ok to not bad, at best.
The opening into the mid, are still ok smelling… But after an hour or less, the leather accord being used now takes over and it just doesn’t smell the same at all…
The oakmoss and pine are so nurtured it’s a shell of its former glory….
My dad had a few bottles left from years back… And not even close to when it came out.. I’d say 90’s…. My god were they amazing. Gone now…. Wish I would have known to snag one from him… hahaha
He probably would have known…. Probably wouldn’t have cared though either… That’s what dads are for…
Thats what Anooj is for my friend... he can hook you up with a Cosmair bottle of Polo from 1978 in no time
God damnit Ram I just came back to sniff the mini of azzaro pour homme I have and it’s good! I like it! What are you doing to me 😭
Making you into a man
@@RamseytheRam it smells posh enough I reckon. I won’t fall into the Pissy animalics masculines but these classy barbershop scents are pleasant
Hi Ramsey! Are new bottles of azzaro pour homme that bad? Cause vintage ones are way to expensive now.
I always go vintage but I hear the new ones are just very toned down
Fragrances in the old days especially 70s were really something as they were all mostly created with the finest organic produce, especially the expensive ones because there wasn't a mass market demand like nowadays. Everything now has fragrance in it,they didn't in the old days. Also the formula has changed with law's ect.
Absolutely... thanks so much for watching and commenting 💪🐏
not head over heels with my new Devin and Lagerfeld Classic ( just a lot of orange) own 12 on your list and my order would be a little different but overall we are playing on the same pitch in terms of tastes-totally 100% agree about cypress and spruce
Crazy sick huh scooped up 5 bottles of Tuscany per Oumo don't trust those CEO private funds at all
Favorite myrrh is Shiseido Inoui - you never mention this line I think
I dont know that you are correct... never smelled any of them... hopefully one day 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching 😊
I was under the impression that Halston fragrances were very expensive back in the day, in the 70s - early 80s at the very least.
That I am not to sure about .. maybe they were and they just became cheepies over time🤷♂️
Thanks for watching 🍻
Solid list man 💪 argument could be made for Devin to number 1 but I’d be splitting hairs🙌🏼😂
Devin & opium ... one of the greatest masculin & one the greatest fem targeted fragrance of all time 🙂
@@RamseytheRam you’re right professor👌🏻
The Halston fragrances 1-12 and Z-14 are still in production.
Really? Are you sure about that... if so that is great news
what do you think of Paul Sebastian cologn?. Years ago I knew a woman who wore this. She said she loved it so she overlooked the fact that it was a man's cologne.
I actually think it was smell great on a woman... but it does have that vintage 70s mustyness
how do you actually apply the after shave, after a shave ;)? For real, do you spread it on your face?
Depends on the after shave... sometimes I will sometimes I will wear it like a fragrance
I bet a favorite or two are in this list. And I'm sure I'm going to hunt for some of these.
This is a HEAVY list 😊
@Ramsey it was. I'm presently looking for a ysl women's Opium bottle now in my price range. Why that one over the male version ?
The male version didnt come out until much much later...but even if you just put em head to head I feel like the Male version of Opium is good... but the womens opium is one of the greatest perfumes ever made... the opium pour homme just cant hold a candle to it imho 🕯
@Ramsey dam son !! High praise. Made me definitely leave to buy the one I had my eye 👁 on.
If you watched my top 100 ... which I did as a celebration for 1000 subs, opium for women made my top ten, of all time.. it is legit 🥂
What could be close today to Ted Lapidus pour homme?
Unfortunately nothing lol
Hunt down the vintage would be my advice
@@RamseytheRam yes, you're right. Also Envol was so unique 😌
Still My Favorite.
Such a great year grouping 🤌🤌🤌
I have a relative named Devin. I think I may get a bottle of Aramis' Devin for him. Who wouldn't want a fragrance with his/her name on it?
Heck ya🙂😂
Hey Rams . Is 110 $ to much to pay for a vintage 8 oz 240 ml Gucci pour homme splash ? 90 to 95 % full No box
I dont think so...but price is subjective 🤷🏻♂️
@RamseytheRam the 4 oz is priced at 3 times that on ebay or other stores.
@RamseytheRam I turn 50 next week. so bought it for my collection. Hopefully not spoiled.

I’m the early 90s I was clubbing and wearing poison - the 80s and 90s were the best! Just enough technology to feel advanced without the ownership of how much technology and AI dominates our lives
Yup 100% agree
Do u need a cap for that Polo green Warner/ Lauren ?
He doesnt have a 🎩🪨
@Ramsey get that dude a hat.
@Ramsey ok I finished my Polo time line. Don't know how accurate I am but I'm dam close
@Ramsey that's what I've come to realize. It's sad I can't buy from ebay uk because of shipping regulations. The frag I like is outrageous here in America.
Wooooh STAR WARS!

Hold on, there’s some serious overturn here 😮
Elaborate sire 🤔
@@RamseytheRam I’ve just started watching but I’ve already checked the list as always. Compared to the Top 100, the first thing standing out is the shocking come back for both TL and Devin, while VC&A PH has been kicked in the sidelines. On another note, no surprise to see VC&A First left out since I know it’s not your kind of stuff. Glad to see my favorite feminine ever getting the top of the podium. And I’m LOVING the introductory speech
@@gmg7437 a huge rise indeed for TL PH from 1978... that leathery spicey castoreum hit home 😂😂😂
We need more opening speeches 🍻
Send me a decant of Opium….
Haha…
I can do that.
I don`t know if you are familiar with " Henry M Betrix " - City .. it might suit your taste .. hard to find .. but very nice. very much end 70`s .. just an animalic earthy banger. What a nice collection you have there .. whao .. keep it up
Thanks so much for the rec
I have not smelled City... I will put it on the never ending to sniff list 🐽
