What pump did you end up using? It looks like the one listed was the one that stopped working. Also, could you use pottery as well, or are plastic pots better?
As long as your pump is going mosquitoes can’t lay their eggs. If you’re getting mosquitoes you probably have wet soil where some of the water splashes out.
Thank -you. I have been researching and watching dozens of videos online trying to figure out what I want to do to make a fountain. Yours was by far the easiest and most attractive.
I believe the reason the pumps stopped working is because the pump was setting to high. Once the water level dropped below the pump it could not work. It may have burned out. The water pump needs to be at the bottom. You can get tubing at lowes if you need it. I have built several fountains using inexpensive pumps.
Agree! I’ve seen several videos showing construction of this style of fountain & they all, confusingly, keep putting the pump at the top of the lower pot. Fountain pumps like this are designed to only when completely submerged in water, therefore they need to be at the bottom of the pot, where they will (hopefully) always be under water. When they’re placed at the top, the water level only needs to drop a little (hello summer, evaporation & overspray!) for the pump to be above the water line, run dry & burn up.
I love this fountain and I love how you showed how you did it. Including the few issues you had with the pump. It's the clearest video I've seen and I am really excited to give it a go. Thank you.
This is the best and easiest way to make your beautiful water fountain.... thank you much for this luv... now I hope Walmart still have these planters lol
I love how your little boy gets involved too, eating a lime haha! Great video! P. S. I have everything I need to make one similar. Just need the black pot saucer from Lowe's.
Good job. I think for a beginners attempt you did great. Better than I would have. I am wondering if you should have used a similar method on the top container as you did with the bottom, and turn another put upside down with a whole for the spout. My thinking is, maybe could use less rocks. Ive never done it, was just wondering. I think i will try this someday.
Pretty I love it and your kids love it too my pump didn't come with those attachments so I had to go to the hardware store and buy plastic tubing and I'm struggling to figure out mine

Smart-ponds had the pump that I used and the pot was also bought at Lowes. They just had the one Size that I saw and bought which was the larger but I like the addition of the rocks and smaller pot.
No, the only holes I made were for the pump extension to come through the saucer and top planter but the holes I made have enough room for water to drain down back to the bottom planter.
Great job ... I wonder if using a few drop of chlorine will keep the bugs and mosquitoes away
That is a great idea. I also have lavender, rosemary and mint planted close by. Those help repel mosquitoes.
Okkkkkkkknnnnnnnnnhng I ou I iiiiiipyy
Mosquitoes does not settle in moving water.

Interesting...the pump I ended up with gave me no problems.

What did you do with the cord coming out of the saucer? Cut a hole ?
no hole, it hangs over the side of the planter. I have the planter turned so that it’s in the back facing the wall.

The original pump in the video ended up not working even the replacement. So I got one off Amazon and it’s been great!

They do love it though and I plan to make one for them to play with in the backyard🥰
That's so pretty!
Thank you 💕
It looks beautiful..... good you

Love the 2tier, great job
Thank you
The river rocks that came in a bag, were they also from Lowe’s?
Yes from lowe’s
Great job beautiful masterpiece.
Thanks💕
Where do you find the plastic lids?
Hey Chris there’s a link to the saucer in my video description. It’s from Lowes.
Very nice.❤️
Thank you 💕
What a great idea ... I'm sooooo copying you!
Your gonna love it
Thanks for posting your supply list.
😍
You may want to use distilled water to keep it from corrosion/lime build up. Even in home fountains it's not a good idea to use tap. 🙂💗
Good call!
@@MadamAFRancier I've ruined a few myself throughout time so just lookin' out. 😄💗
Yep ... I have too by not knowing this info ... My favorite one too
I love that!
Thank you. It’s been a year and it’s still going strong. I haven’t had to replace anything.

Which pump did you go with on amazon ? Curious since there seem to be so many bad options out there ... but I love what you did here 💕

So far so good with this one from amazon. Thank you 😊
I had to specially order the pots you used ... but can’t wait to get it done .
Smart-ponds had the pump that I used and the pot was also bought at Lowes. They just had the one Size that I saw and bought which was the larger but I like the addition of the rocks and smaller pot.
Did you use resin pots?
Yes
love it
Thank you
IReally love this fountain. Thank you for posting it, I want to make one. Did you drill holes in the saucer, for drainage?
No, the only holes I made were for the pump extension to come through the saucer and top planter but the holes I made have enough room for water to drain down back to the bottom planter.
cute kids
This video is great at showing me what I needed... However... My favorite part is all those cute faces your boy was making in the camera... So cute...
