That is awesome! Your beautiful birds will love you for that. Solar is still my favorite, but this can work good for some that want to set something up in the shade, THANKS!
I finally got the pump. Turns out this power bank pump is the way to go for me. The birds are finally using it. SO FUN!! Thanks for this post! It stopped working so I put the intake portion under running water for a few seconds. It's working again. It stopped again. The pump lasted approx 2 months.
@@barbaraacott389 Robbie puts eBay links under her videos. They are 5V and many are solar. I personally prefer USB and Pulaco brand. Partly cuz my solar one needed the panel to be re angled often. The USB is a plug it in and leave it alone situation. Hope that helps…
I love how cute this fountain turned out! Don’t you just love it when something just flows and turns out so lovely just from your imagination? Great piece of living art for your garden!

Robbie, you are the definition of "so cool!". You are so upbeat and you are introducing us to so many good things. I hadno idea power banks were so popular. Thanks again.☺
I wanted to put holes in the bottom of several big ceramic pots, i wanted to use them as flower pots. I went to the local DIY store and got a diamond saw/ drill bit that cuts circles. You use it on a drill body, it goes on just like a regular drill bit. The guys at the store told me to be sure and keep water running over area you're drilling to keep the pot cool so it won't crack. So I took the pots outside, turned on the hose, and used my portable drill. It was easy.
I think you could also change the flow pattern by using your hot tool to punch holes in the straw! Super cool idea my mind is racing with the possibilities!

When I was searching for something on UA-cam about hummingbirds I came across one of your videos. Loved it. Then another and another. Somehow, you're so easy to connect with. We lived in Pasadena and Big Bear for years before moving back East to take care of aging parents. It's people like you that make me miss California so much. I absolutely adore you! As I type this, I'm outside under a covered carport. I have seven feeders right here and I'm surrounded by hummingbirds. Life is pretty grand! Thank you Robbie! xoxo
Oh, that is so cool you have hummingbirds still back East, so they stay all year? I will have to say, you may miss Calif. but it is so darn expensive to live here, I am only here because I was born and raised here, and was smart enough to buy a house when I was only 18 years old....for under about 17,000....that is what got me started. THANKS, Robbie
Robbie, I'm in South Carolina. I am going to leave the feeders out this winter. It's always in the 40's or 50's during the day during the winter. It does freeze at night but not for long. I've always brought them in because someone told me that's what one does. I should have done my research I guess!! It's only been 10 yrs since we left Big Bear but we could never afford to move back. Biggest mistake we ever made......:( Take care!! Bobby
Wow..! What a really Nifty thing.. my old man is mesmerized by hummers ... this is gonna make one heck of a terrific Father's Day gift,,!! Thank you thank you!
NICE! I recently cut the top off of a plastic jug to plant grape tomatoes in it. I up-cycled the top into a small fence mounted bird bath sealing the screw on lid with plumber's tape and re-purposing the wood from a failed squirrel-proof hanging bird feeder. I fastened the two together and then to the cyclone fence. I piled in some river stones I had on hand so bees and butterflies as well as smaller birds could safely drink or bathe. I hadn't stepped away more than 5 minutes when one of the resident robins came in for a drink. Since it has the little shelf there, I can easily tuck a power bank under it through what was originally the jug handle. I can't wait to give them moving water! I just started feeding the hummers last year with a single feeder. It took a while for one little bird to find it. This year I've seen at least 3 different ones and even a couple of hungry butterflies using it. The rule here is I can't have anything on the ground other than in a couple of flower beds, so I have to get crazy inventive adding features for the wildlife and what bits of food I can try to grow. So your innovative ideas lend themselves to my weird brain adapting them to my particular situation. I appreciate that!
I just bought a new birdbath solar fountain that doesn't plug into anything!!! The small round solar panel is placed in the bottom of the fountain bowl under the water, and there ya go ... water your choice of how it comes out. Also came with several choices for how the water come out. I love it!!!! Found it on Amazon while searching for solar fountains.
Robbie, you have changed my life. I am using compost containers in my tubs just like you taught, and it is working like a miricle. I live in Puerto Rico, really hot but your method works. Thank you for your gardening expertise. Also, am a fan of the solar fountains. The birds, large and small, use them all the time.
This really brings joy to my heart! I am so HAPPY that it is working for you and you can grow some food, EASY!!! I am a real fan too of solar fountains, but I thought I'd share this idea for people that have a very shady yard or covered yard or patio and no AC outlet, as this will work for those, thanks so much, Robbie
yall have changed my life too...its hard to get up and quit learning...love the idea on the power bank. I did do a solar the way you do already and love it...gonna come home today after work and the get the motor and power bank so they have somewhere to go on cloudy days...cannot wait!! Yahoooo….oh and I love your videos, just keep talking and don't worry about how long the video is...people can always pause and stop and come back. I like to hear every little thing...everything...I am learning and loving it!!!! thank you so much
I watched your video a few years ago. While using those "power banks" seems to be a good idea, they're really nothing more than a battery which, after time, will need to be recharged again. I went the small solar panel route (panel's about 4 inches square?) and have been using that for the last three years. Works great and I don't have to unplug anything to charge up those "power banks". In fact, I loved the small solar panel and pump idea so much that I set one up in my micro pond so that the pump raises water into a pond filter which then percolates back into the pond. My fish are happy, my pond plants are happy, and I've even had a frog move in!
Thanks Robbie, just went to your link and ordered 4 pumps. I love making these fountains and now can add one to each of my outside bird flights where I raise Zebra finch. They will love it! Never experienced a bird that likes to bath as much as they do. I live in Tucson, AZ with lots of sun but still have days of overcast and areas that don't receive enough sun to keep my fountains going all day and evening. These fountains are really appreciated by the wild birds and bees (boy, do bees love these fountains). Fun video, thanks Robbie.
Thank you Robbie for this stupendous idea! We have Hummingbirds and all kinds of birds of course in our backyard in Huntington Beach, but no way to keep the water going. It’s a real pain. This is genius. I can handle this! Thank you for the links to the little pump. You truly are a hummingbird whisperer!
@Robbie! I put the cutest frog from the dollar store, perfect, hole in its mouth and it's bottom...I think it scared the birds because it has eyes? They are always in this fountain, I made with the ball like you showed us. After a year, and I found this little frog, I changed it up. NOW the birds come roaring in...and pull up! pull up! LOL
That’s such a cute fountain! 💚 I take pics of my hummingbird friends and I’ve been wanting to make a fountain for a while because it’s so fun when they take rain baths or let me give them one with a hose. I love how excited you get because I am the same way. Thanks for the cool videos.
I'm watching again after several months. When I saw this frog I loved it. Then a local was selling a planter with frogs sitting all around. A vintage mallorca. I had an electric but it has since broke. I want to make a lily pad to hide a future pump I buy.
I found you on UA-cam about three weeks ago. since then I bought two solar pumps and three dollar store ( $3.50) hummingbird feeders. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I setup one birdbath so far. I have a couple of hummers coming now. So happy, from Atlanta Ga.
OMG I LOVE your energy! I am learning so much from you about gardening! I bought a couple of solar fountains that I love but they only run when the sun is out. These are amazing so now I have to go buy a few! Thank you so much.
I love my solar fountains, I did a video on using cell phone battery chargers too for fountains, and that works great on cloudy days. More to come soon, THANK SO MUCH, Robbie ua-cam.com/video/Fb-NDhQbmtg/v-deo.html
So happy I just run into this video. Can't have to may water fitures expecially when it comes to birds. I will be sending for some of these pumps and can hardly wait to try them out.
I'm so grateful that I found this video! I recently added a bird bath to my yard and the area is shaded so, no matter which version I buy, I'm just frustrated by the solar fountains. Thanks to you, I now have a solution!🥰🥰🥰

Robbie, I posted a comment on your other fountain dyi and was so excited to try it, so I went on to the link you provided. Then I watched this one. Well, I'm going to try them both! I have never been a dyier, but you make it look so easy, and I so want to attract the lil gems as much as possible to my little patio. You're a woman after my own heart !!!
Sandie, It's so lovely that you help the Hummingbirds😊🐦 I saw a t.v. programme where people living near the migration routes put sugar water out, and it was a life-saver for those cute little birds, en route. 🇬🇧💕🇺🇲🐦😊🇬🇧
Thank you Robbie for giving me so many ideas!! I love my yard and watching all the birds going to my birdbaths and feeders. Been trying to set up water features that are affordable to add to my garden. Thank you, thank you!!!!!!!
YOU DONT NEED SOLAR!! Just love ❤️💕🥰 your videos. You are like a happy child on Christmas morning opening a present. I’m always smiling by end of your videos. Thank you for blessing me with your ideas.
You will have to ensure the connectors stay dry and clean when outside. The downside is you will have to plug and unplug the battery units in order to charge them, hence they need to be in good working order (clean). If you use the combo solar + battery pack, that may be better, depending on how well the panel charges the battery and supports the pump too.
Thank you, for warming my heart. Why? You get as excited as my 2nd Mother and I did in the UK when we worked at our crafts together. (Now I live over the pond I haven't seen her for over 20 years). Yup, Canada kidnapped me...lol.
Oh I absolutely love that that is just gorgeous beautiful little birdbath in the hummingbird seems to love it I can see why you’re so excited I would be too that is so adorable💜💕💕💕💕
I love your videos. I made a bird bath last week using a 16" diameter or so plastic flower pot. Instead of getting a chip dip tray, I got a plastic drain saucer for the top. The saucer fit perfectly so the outer lip of the saucer rests on the top of the flower pot. That flower pot gave me a nice deep reservoir for the pump. I pushed holes in the saucer and put some river rock in along with a little metal bridge. I'll upload a video shortly. :)
Hi, I am so inspired for you. I put food in my two hummer feeders but so far no hummers. I did have some big birds hanging upside down on it. Then I built a bird bath fountain from a bowl and frog I got at the Goodwill store. It uses the usb on the new power bank I bought. But lo and behold it did not spray above the tube. I was about to send it back but looked at the instructions first to see if I was doing something wrong. The print was so tiny I couldn't read it so I put it in the sun and I read that there is a regulator on the pump!! I turned it up and now it works fine. I love it but the birds have yet to discover it. I brought my two Yorkies inside and I put some rocks in the bowl for them to land. I am not sure how to send you a pic of it. Thanks!! Robbie!! I love your ideas!!!
Had a great day yesterday finding 2nd hand pieces to make my fountains and some feeders. So thank you for your channel and your great ideas. I noticed that the voice of some presenters tend to go up in treble and volume the more excited they are, and you definitely have something to be excited about!
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Robbie I've got a question..... Now I have a bit of a tricky place and it's too much to put in words here but is there any way to extend the cord of a solar one that you might know of?
omg I'm so happy to see this post. I have been planning to put a planter fountain in my little garden but I was torn between the flower type solar powered fountain OR the solar powered fountain pump. thanks for posting, I'm going to check the links you provided.
Thank you Robbie your enthusiasm is so contagious. I am going to try and make a fountain like you did. You hummingbird feeders are so neat. Remain blessed so you can bless others with your ideas.

Please give info to order the little pumps, solar & non-solar. I'm in NC. I'm going to put out saucers for birds to bathe in too! Loved video!!! Gayle Long
Thank you Robbie. Just several days ago I bought a hummingbird feeder. Here are no many and many hummingbirds yet I have but I notice one is already uses to come, and I am so much excited to have them in my garden. I look forward to make them more happy with creating a little fountain I learned today from you. I really appreciate you share your heart, love and excitement with me. I like and subscribed to learn more and how I can make my garden more happy with many and many birds. A warm hugs.
That is adorable!!! You are so inspiring Robbie!!! By next spring I will have fountains and feeders for the hummingbirds and look forward to watching the hummingbird population grow. Right now I have just one feeder bcuz only a few hummingbirds come around. Poor little things looked pretty ragged at first and now they are looking healthier. They even feed when I am close-by tending my plants. They seem to know I am good and they are safe. Such a great feeling to watch them hang around. My goal is to create what you have created. A shangrila for the birdies. There are allot of hawks that fly my area so I have to be careful not to set up a trap for the little birds. Please share ideas for protecting the birds I am trying to attract. 😘👍🏻🌺🌿
That would be a great idea!!! You might also want to warn about/ address other dangers. Meaning how to place feeders to not attract predators in general, including cats. Years back, my sister had a feeder hanging from her awning (up high) but had a hummingbird swoop low. A cat jumped up and got it. She felt sooooo bad.
A few is great, that means they are there. The birds really do know whom is feeding them, they are so smart, and at times can be very demanding too. Just thought I'd share this idea for people that have a very shady yard or covered yard or patio and no AC outlet, as this will work for those, thanks so much, Robbie
@@melissajarvis4829 That can be true, but the truth is their life is dangerous all the time, many even get hit by cars, all we can do is our best, thanks, Robbie
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I love this idea, but I'm also having a hard time figuring out a "safe" place in our yard. Our patio table by the living room window would be lovely and perfect accessibility-wise for me, but I feel that it is just too cat accessible. We had some cats that would get up there and sit on it looking in the window to let us know they wanted food. Lol! (FYI-We made the decision quite some time ago not to have any outdoor cats, and then proceeded to have a series of semi-feral cats adopt us! Now our neighbors' cats visit our yard...)
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I wasn't trying to be negative! I just thought that it could be helpful for those who may have cat visitors to their garden, to think about placement. Just like you said the hummers like to have a bushy plant nearby, for cover while they are drying, it probably should also be in an open area, so that they can see any land predators approach. Like Rooby Dooby Doo above, I also have hawks visit our yard, so I assume some aerial protection is needed as well.
I think this is great but will just stay with solar. I just made a solar fountain with a 3 gallon red bucket and a red chip and dip bowl in shape of a flower from the dollar store 😂 Put some flat rocks on it and put on table under the feeder and BOOM 👌👍😁 LOVE IT!!!❣️ so does the hummingbirds. Yay!! My solar was 5bucks to. I spent 11 bucks total.
I like the solar too, but if someone has a covered patio area or a very shaded yard, this will work for them. Your 3 gallon red bucket sounds so adorable! Thanks for sharing, Love Robbie
You just inspired me and now I know what to do with a large / fine art hand painted china platter. It's been sitting in my garage for months and I almost gave it away. Glad I still have it; it will make a beautiful tabletop fountain. Thank you Robbie. ^×^ Wishing you peaceful days in your garden + all of God's blessings.
We were sure we saw our first humming birds last week but nothing since! Is it too early for their season! They are hanging on the edge of the pergola in our back yard!
You are so adorable and make these projects so much fun to watch. No fancy backdrops, no pretentious attitude. Just your contagious enthusiasm and joy. Thank you for bringing these things to life! One question I have. Are the 100’s of hummingbirds you have there because of migration or is this the average of what you have all the time? We always put out feeders, but the only time we have to fill them up daily is in the fall during migration. I love them either way! ❤️
Throughout the year we have 100's during migration it goes into the 1000's lately many are staying during the cold months...Yes that sugar bill goes up, but so worth it, Thank you so much 😊
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy I am waiting for hummingbirds to come in my yard. I have lots of flowers planted for them. But I only saw 1 this year. It might be the heat in souteast Louisiana that is keeping them away
Robbie, I ordered 5 of these (from China) on Ebay and just received them today! I'm so excited and wanted to thank you for sharing this idea! Just love your channel!
I've watched this video more than once because it's helpful. I posted the time stamps mostly for specifics of my needs to refer back to. 1:50 pump 4:19 straw 6:58 power banks 18:47 text on screen with mAh # to determine your needs The solar kit I have is great but not my cup of tea because I only have one and the panel needs to be pointing to the sun. As soon as the sun moves, the panel is inefficient, until it is rotated. That hasn't worked well for me.
Her is an Idea to keep the plastic container from wobbling .Drill 4 holes around the sides so the water will suck through not under the container That will stop it from moving like it is . I think the little friends visiting will love that so the sound of the container hitting the dish doesn't scare them away .All they will hear is the water running. Love your Idea and I may be using it soon lol. I have a fountain I made by hand tall and a lot bigger than this two teared leaves like a tree stump.I needed a solar panel and battery to run it but it works well and the birds love it . I agree with wellwisher Peace >>>> From the heart and so excited to try this out .Your a joy to watch and your little Gems in the window and Garden .Love those little guys

I've also picked up some beautiful bowls and little statuary (girl w/umbrella, birds, etc) or even (turned over) a pretty flowerpot, from thrift stores. The frog-type statues are also usually available at craft stores (Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's Etc., Michael's) usually in spring & summer. If you don't want to purchase a Dremel tool, there are also drill bits for drilling ceramics, I found a set of 3 different sizes for around $10.00 at the hardware store. This looks like fun, and will be a fun project this winter, to be getting ready for spring in the midwest.

It's only been 10 yrs since we left Big Bear but we could never afford to move back. Biggest mistake we ever made......:( Take care!! Bobby
Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit. You made my day so much better.
Oh wow that makes me feel great too, thanks
You are awesome..never stop being you...love your energy and love for these birds. God bless.
Thank you, Robbie
Inssanetxartist: I'd love to see a photo of your creation! Love your ingenuity! :)
I like to hear every little thing...everything...I am learning and loving it!!!! thank you so much
Where is this video!!!! What r compost containers
@@ashinathensga hope you have figured this out by now..... Just search for gary and gary compost in place video
@@sherry-pz6yx she is great at explaining the steps to make it happen!❤
Wonderful!
Pumps can be found where and the solar panels where??
Oh my goodness, Robbie, you are so cute! Made me chuckle more than once 😅
@Robbie! I put the cutest frog from the dollar store, perfect, hole in its mouth and it's bottom...I think it scared the birds because it has eyes? They are always in this fountain, I made with the ball like you showed us. After a year, and I found this little frog, I changed it up. NOW the birds come roaring in...and pull up! pull up! LOL
Love your passion for all you do for animals and nature ❤️

That’s such a cute fountain! 💚 I take pics of my hummingbird friends and I’ve been wanting to make a fountain for a while because it’s so fun when they take rain baths or let me give them one with a hose. I love how excited you get because I am the same way. Thanks for the cool videos.
You are so sweet and knowledgeable. You give important not frivolous information. You are an asset to your public.

Do I need to add my email to hear from you?
How did your birdbath/fountain turn out?
I'm so grateful that I found this video! I recently added a bird bath to my yard and the area is shaded so, no matter which version I buy, I'm just frustrated by the solar fountains. Thanks to you, I now have a solution!🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much 🤗

Wow you are very blessed to live in such a beautiful place with hummingbirds all around. WOW!
I have been watching ever since I opened my eyes to greet this day! I am grateful fo you for sharing your ideas, thoughts,
Thank you, for warming my heart. Why? You get as excited as my 2nd Mother and I did in the UK when we worked at our crafts together. (Now I live over the pond I haven't seen her for over 20 years). Yup, Canada kidnapped me...lol.

Thank you. I just ordered two pumps on eBay for $25. That fountain frog is so cute. I love hummingbirds. Thank you for sharing.
What are they called? She said $4 each. Wish she had said where & exactly what the are called.
You have inspired me to find my power pack (s) Thank you!
This is perfect if you do have alot of sun for the solar units, like in the shade under a patio...thanks, Robbie
Love the idea as a project for my 8 yr old daughter. I wouldn’t let pump run without water or it will burn up.
Had a great day yesterday finding 2nd hand pieces to make my fountains and some feeders. So thank you for your channel and your great ideas. I noticed that the voice of some presenters tend to go up in treble and volume the more excited they are, and you definitely have something to be excited about!

It’s always interesting to see what new things you’re into! I ordered the solar ones. Have two fountains but this one is even better!! So excited!!

@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Robbie I've got a question.....
Now I have a bit of a tricky place and it's too much to put in words here but is there any way to extend the cord of a solar one that you might know of?
Where did you order the solar bank from?
..
Bless you Robbie. You gave me the answer to my problem. I just wanted a small fountain to go on my deck, near my hummingbird feeder. Thanks again.
omg I'm so happy to see this post. I have been planning to put a planter fountain in my little garden but I was torn between the flower type solar powered fountain OR the solar powered fountain pump. thanks for posting, I'm going to check the links you provided.

I have no idea why I'm just seeing this now. Absolutely love it. Thank you Robbie. ❤💕❤
I'm glad you like it, wait until you see the new solar fountain I JUST MADE TODAY, going up this week, so FUN, thanks!

I think this is great but will just stay with solar. I just made a solar fountain with a 3 gallon red bucket and a red chip and dip bowl in shape of a flower from the dollar store 😂
Put some flat rocks on it and put on table under the feeder and BOOM 👌👍😁 LOVE IT!!!❣️ so does the hummingbirds. Yay!!

4:19 straw
6:58 power banks

The solar kit I have is great but not my cup of tea because I only have one and the panel needs to be pointing to the sun.
