That's not a strat, a tele or a Les Paul. I appreciate the fact that you are playing that as a Jazz master !! I never get tired of hearing you play, brother. Play on!! Thank you!
I was just thinking the same thing! Jazzmasters are so unique and deserve their own approach that I can't fully put into words. IT CAN do the blues licks a strat does, IT CAN do the twang a tele does, but this kind of tastefulness is so nice to hear. To simply put it, its extremely tasteful playing in my opinion.
@nicholaschavira1743 I love them, except the sustain is horrible. Jazzmaster was Jimi guitar and he switched to a strat, and prob because of the sustain issue. Granted a strat is not a sustain king either, but sustains quite a bit more than a jazz. I love jazz masters. But they lack so much sustain I don't think I could buy one. Even though I think they stay in tune better than a strat when using them.
Yea it’s nice to see him able to riff out beautifully on these player grade vintage instruments he puts so much time, effort, and capital into. Leave the 50,000 dollar collector grade stuff to the doctors and lawyers who keep them safely secured in a bank safety deposit box where it’s sure to never be used again.
Matt I watch your videos during my classes in college as your sound through them old fenders bring me joy. Keep playing them tones From a fan of yours from Ireland:)
The Jazzmaster has a distinctly electric guitar tone, especially with both pickups switched on. Even though different brands & models of electric guitars had for a number of years been making it on to popular recordings heard over the radio, when The Venture's first broke out their proto-Surf instrumental arrangement of "Walk Don't Run", with Bob Bogle playing Fender's recently issued Jazzmaster, heads turned and reacted "Now THAT is an electric guitar!".
Sounds heavenly dude. Im new to jazzmaster ownership but they are so comfortable in the lap. The natural neck angle is much nicer than my other guitars whose necks sit close to my thigh. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
It's weird seeing all the Strat/Tele/LP part of the establishment *finally* realising the Jazzmaster was the next improvement from the Stratocaster. Better pickups, better vibrato, more balanced shape etc.. dismissed as oddities for so long.
I love listening to you Play. Your finger style is fantastic. The Tone is Prefect. Makes me full of Joy and regrets. When I was a kid, you could buy one a Any Pawnshop for a $100. I passed on them Old Junky things. You Bring them Life. Thank you so Much!!!
I wanted a strat like yours, but I got a vintage JM instead bc I played it in the store and had to have it. I play it differently than my Strats, and I just thought that's what it had to be. To hear a Strat player like you play it like that (more strat like) and kind of bring some Hendrixy stuff to it inspires me to play mine in that direction more.
Sounds delicious. I have a 67/68 sometimes hard to keep tuned/intonated due to the floating bridge system. Also you can't play leads as well on it as a Tele or Strat due to the neck fretboard radius. That being said It does radiate sounds that no other guitar can.
The sound does not only depend on the guitar. Besides the guitarist, it depends on the amplifier and the pedals. The correct thing is to put the complete configuration that is used.
Bravo Matt. Quel talent 🎶 ✨ 🍀 magnifique et en son clair, pas d'artifice, simplicité, efficacité et de très jolies harmonies, bravo 👍 un salut de France bro
Sounds great!! I'm guessing you're going through a fender black face amp.& The "Soap bars" P-90's R Sweet Sounding.I dig the longer term bars, bent ever so slightly.
With a jazz your SOUND IS like a Telecaster+ stratocaster +les Paul. Jazz for me all the Time. Met une cale pour incliner le manche et vire moi ce buzz stop. Tu en auras plus besoin et ton son serra encore meilleur 😉
That guitar really sounds good, exceptionally good. I’ve had a few Vintage JazzMasters. One I bought from Army salvage when I was in the Air Force in the early 70’s. It was a 1961, beat to crap and the pickups weren’t working. I got it for $75. We didn’t have Pickup rewinders like we do now. Plus it wasn’t cool to have a beat up guitar back then. . I refinished it in black and found a set of DiMarzios for it. One guitar I really should have kept. In those days we’d only have one to two guitars. No one usually had more than that so I sold it. Had another 64 Candy Apple Red and also a newer reissue but neither sounded or played like my 61. Yours really has the tone. I may have to see about finding the another one.
That is The coolest guitar you have had on so far. Everytime i see these, it unfortunatly reminds me of The nightmare i have, of me never being able to afford one😢
There are some killer deals on many nice Squier classic vibe Jazzmasters online and locally for under $400…..many are 300-350, and many more have been very nicely improved/set up and or modded. Patience and persistence on your hunt is key. Keep your chin up on your quest and good luck to you !
@@FIGGY65 true! Ive modded and refinished both my 90s mij Jaguar, and my jazzmaster, But its still not The same. But i always torturere myself by looking at vintage jazzmaster and jags i cant afford :)
Sounds great Matthew. Hey, with these shorts, could you mention in the description which amplifier you are playing through. I'm sure lots of players have never actually played through a real '59 Bassman or a '60s Deluxe, they may not know what it takes to produce that beautiful music you make look so easy to play.

That sounded fantastic. One of the great Fender clean tones and you played it beautifully. I’d still love your opinion on that guitar without the buzz stop bar. Easily removed and certainly not original. I’ve noticed it’s absence on the notable Jazzmaster artist’s guitars that I’m familiar with and a big fan. Nils Cline, Michael Lemmo…
Hold onto that one
He already gave it to me for free

Matthew’s sense of melody, phrasing and chord changes are the top best on UA-cam!
AND pickup changing - don't forget! The dude knows how to use his pickups...

Matthew Scott definitely has his own sound. I can hear him coming out of a Jazzmaster, Melody Maker, Strat, Les Paul, and it's awesome.
His tone is absolutely insane and it's evident that it's not just the gear - his playing style and dynamics are off the charts.

That jazzmaster is so cool, great tones
My favorite guitar for clean tones, on the middle setting.

jazzmaster went from something i overlooked into my fav sounding fender!!
Lovely sounds. This is a guitar to keep, I think. Nice one Matthew. 🎶🌟👍
I truly enjoy seeing your content in my feed. Tone and vibes for fucking days.
That is An AWESOME 63 Jazz Master, it’s AWESOME how the universe works. Matt you are very deserving of your blessings!
Was stoked to see this. JM's are probably my favorite Fender guitars along with Strats.
One of your best videos... beautiful.
my favorite kind of guitar. more jazzmasters please!!

I love the way those old fenders look. They just cannot recapture it even in the AVRI’s and American original’s.
